Aysun was off on what he called a 'research mission' when he was speaking to the horde that following along after him. They had left home, going into the forest of Jauhar, to find what it was that they were looking for. Giving a smile he glanced over at his army and said, "So, we need some sticks!" A comment that had everyone starring at him quietly, expect of course for Sunshine who chirped her approval, seeming as though she agreed with everything that he said no matter what it was or how crazy it might be. The others just starred, Flower included, which meant that not a single of of them seemed to understand why the gathering of sticks was in order.

Walking over to one of them he picked it up, checking the weight, before swinging it around a bit, "I figure that if we find sticks of various sorts, various sizes and weights, then I will be able to test them, maybe get a feeling for what sort of weapon I am wanting to wield." He explained, waving around the one that he'd picked up, "This feels like it might be a smaller sword? Maybe for duel wielding, can you watch this for me while I find some others?" He asked this, leaning against the big, fancy Scorra that was standing near to him.

The bird looked down at the stick before he started to peck at it, with Sunshine chirping and cheering his inspection along from where she was riding on the Scorra's back. Next to the pair Kapila gave a chittering sound before she set to scaling a nearby tree, getting comfortable while letting Aysun run around to entertain himself. So long as he didn't wander to far she'd be happy, otherwise she'd be forced to pursue, something she didn't feel like doing at the moment.

Aysun gave the group a glance before picking up a bigger stick, "Here we go! This seems like it could stand in for a spear. What do you think, Flower?" He asked of the Sprite that was sitting on his shoulder. Flower gave it a once over nodding, giving a chirping sound of agreement. Giving a grin Aysun carried the 'spear' over to the ground, setting it down on the ground, before he looked around, "Alright, we need another small sword, a big sword, and then maybe a skinny sword to stand in a bow?" He gave a thoughtful sound before he started the search for 'weapons' anew, humming to himself as he went.

Orpheus Solon

Ikkio walked through the jungle with Zumurundi, lost in thought.

Of course, they were not good thoughts, or perhaps not for some. Ikkio was plotting, thinking of a thousand schemes, and none in particular, enjoying the power she had to manipulate others. Things were still strained at home, and they had been for some time, so she ignored that – that situation she could not control – and instead let her mind wander.

A shifter boy thought he liked her, but she knew where he stared and what it meant. Ikkio was quite pleased with her bust and, more secretly, the difference in size between it and her sister's. She had developed early, and it was clearly a measure of her superiority.

That shifter boy... she could get him to anything she wanted. Like a baby Radaku, he would obey, eager to please, and it was very funny. She let him think she might like him, she played coy and shy and hard to get. But she didn't care about hm – inside, she was laughing, and she and her sister reaped the benefits, not that her sister approved.

Her sister's approval did not matter, especially since her sister did not know what she was doing. Ikkio intended to keep it that way. ”Do you think, Zuzu, that he will ever realize I don't intend to let him touch them?” Ikkio said, snickering, to her Radaku, ”He's so disgusting...” she pet her Radaku's soft head, ”But so useful.”

Zuzu leaned into her petting, rubbing his forehead against her hand. He didn't understand all the strange things his owner did, just that she did them and that he loved her. And feared her. He had to.

A voice – not familiar to him – caught his attention and he turned his head, sniffing the air. Hew grew excited, his tail wagging, as he scented many animals. Prey? Friends?

The young Radaku barked and turned that way, wanting to investigate.

”Mmm?” Ikkio said, unintentionally purring in her throaty voice, ”What is it, Zuzu?” she frowned at him, wondering what could have excited him so much. Not her conversation, of course – he was a Radaku and had no idea what she was talking about. That was why she talked to him.

When he ran off, she gathered her amateur magic to her and followed, wary but intrigued: after all, it had been a minorly boring day.

Soon she heard a voice, male and young, through the trees and close at hand. She crept closer, following Zumurundi as he trotted along eagerly. She stopped as she saw a brown shape, ducking behind a tree just to be safe.

Zumurundi had no such qualms. He kept on trotting, right into the gathering, attracted by something about the aura of the male earthing, or his scent, or something else entirely. Zumurundi barked a greeting, tail wagging and tongue lolling, to the other animals. They looked like they were playing a game, with sticks. Could he play too?

Aysun was returning to the group, Flower perched on his shoulder, when he noticed that he had one more friend in his army then he'd had but a moment ago. He blinked a couple times, looked around, then back at the Radaku, "Hey there, buddy! You a new recruit? I could use more strong, able bodied soldiers to join the 'Army of Aysun'!" He said, holding up a hand, waving it dramatically, as though such a branch of the army actually existed. At least Sunshine pipped up, chirping in excited to say that she was quite excited about the army, something that made Aysun laugh, "You are the most enthusiastic member of my army for sure, little Sunny." He praised the baby Kinfa who was bouncing around on his scorra Pembe's back, "Keep that up and you will rise in the ranks in no time!"

Turning his attention back to the radaku he dug into the pouch on his hip, getting out a piece of dried meat, and tore it in half, offering some to the Radaku, "Here, you hungry? I'd rather you eat with us then decide to eat one of us." He said, much preferring to have order in the ranks instead of one or the other of his pets wanting eat anyone else. It was bad enough that Pembe got it in his head at times to want to try to eat Flower. Best that he didn't let the new recruit get any ideas about having a tasty Kinfa for dinner, "If you want to tag a long we are going out looking for sticks today! Gonna try to figure out what sort of weapon I want to wield during operation 'Keep the Obans Away From Chandra'. It's quite important you see." He didn't want those weirdo Obans stealing his precious twin after all.

Looking over the sticks he'd gathered so far, one of which Pembe was still happily pecking at, he said, "We have a 'sword' right here, 'twins swords' here, a 'spear', and a 'bow' as well." He explained to the various creatures who were gathered, "I can almost guarantee that the bow will be voted out first, if only because I know I will never be as good as Uncle Jacin. I'd rather take on a weapon that isn't already claimed and mastered by a family member. It's why I didn't bother with a shield or hammer either. My dad and mom use those two weapons as all of you but the new recruit know already." He was just explaining that part so that the radaku wasn't left out, "I think it mostly leaves these three... So what do we think? Any votes what weapon I should try out first?"

Army of Aysun? What a corny name for a group of animals...

That was a lot of animals. As the group became visible to her intermittantly through the trees, Ikkio felt the familiar feeling of Wanting.

He had a Scorra, a Kinfa, and a Sprite: all rare and beautiful things that she wanted. And a maglardilla too, which wasn't nearly as special but she still wanted it because it wasn't hers.

Her hand clenched and unclenched as Zumurundi approached the meat.

Ooo Meat!

The dried meat was quickly snapped up by happy jaws and, thus bribed, Zuzu was more than happy to play whatever game the earthling wanted.

It looked like they were collecting sticks? Okay, that was doable!

Zumurundi barked and grabbed a long, flexible stick, a new branch shattered and dropped for some reason by the tree, and brought it over to the pile, tail waving cautiously. Had he gotten the game right?

And now Zuzu was all buddy-buddy with this stranger with the hoarde of animals. Ikkio grit her teeth and scowled. No. This stranger could not take her Zuzu. He was HERs. She had to step in before this went any further.

She stepped out of the trees, her expression artfully relaxed to a fairly pleasant smirking smile. ”Well hello...” she said, ”I think you should use the sword. With those big, strong, arms of yours...” she let her eyes travel along his body, assessing. He wasn't actually that strong – kind of scrawny and silly looking if you asked her.

But she had quickly learned that a compliment from a pretty girl made boys more malliable, and she was, very definitely, pretty. ”I'm sure you could swing very hard.” she said, her voice naturally husky and purring, ”What do you think, Zuzu?”

Aahhh, no, here was his mistress! Zumurundi barked and gave her a nudge, just to make sure she knew he still loved her. She got upset if he didn't do that, and she was scary when she was upset.

Aysun chuckled as the Radaku came and took the meat from him, "You are a cutie." He said, admiring the Radaku, wondering if he might be able to get the creature to come along with him. He didn't have a Radaku in his army and he felt that one of them would be quite useful to his group... but before he could think to invite the Radaku it went racing off. He found himself wondering if perhaps he was leaving... but a moment later he returned with a stick, "Hey! Good job, buddy!" He praised him, picking up the stick, looking it over, "This is a pretty good stick, thanks." He had plenty of different sorts of sticks, representing all manner of different weapons. Now all he had to do was decide upon what one it was that he wanted to try to wield.

It was then that a voice first greeted him and then told him that he should use the sword with his 'big, strong arms of his' which had him laughing. Looking at his arms a moment he couldn't help but to be amused, "Heh, nice of you to say but my arms are pretty scrawny compared to my father's arms, he's a giant." He said, flexing his arm for a moment, but was disappointed to see that his arms were nothing compared to what his father had. Of course his father was also a lot older and and stronger, had a lot more time to train and get strong, not to mention that shield he carried about with him. Aysun would bet it weighed more then he did.

"I will take your advice though." He said, lifting up the stick, swinging it around from side to side, a thoughtful look on his face, "Hmm, maybe." Turning to look over at his army he held up the weapon in a dramatic manner, "What do you think, does it suit me?" He asked of them.

Pembe looked him over, then gave a squawking sound, something that had Aysun looking the thing over, "You think so? Maybe." He murmured, waving the 'sword' around a bit more before laughing, "I will add this one to the maybe pile. Thanks for the suggestion Miss... erm... Miss." It was as though he suddenly realized that he had been chatting with someone he didn't know, getting advice from her. Looking over at her he gave a little laugh, "Right, I should probably remember to talk with people too, huh? I am pretty bad at that at times. My name is Aysun." He introduced himself, feeling that it was better late then never. A failed introduction that had Flower laughing at him in an amused manner.

His arms were scrawny, but it seemed her compliment had hit its mark suitably. Ah, people. she thought, So predictable.

”Ikkio.” she offered, watching how he swung his stick around. So that was supposed to be his sword? A poor excuse for a sword. But Ikkio wasn't going to judge.

After all, it was clear that he was a strange one, talking to animals like that... perhaps he was a few rocks short of a full beach.

She talked to Zuzu, to be sure, but she didn't ask him advice, not seriously anyway. All of her questions to Zumurundi were rhetorical. He was, after all, just a radaku. Her friend and companion, but in the end, just a radaku.

She didn't need the advice of a mere radaku, or – agruably – of anybody. ”It is a pleasure to meet you, Aysun.” she said, emphasizing the word almost unconciously, ”I feel as though I've heard your name before.” It did sound familiar, though she couldn't quite place it.

Aha.

”Might you have a twin?” she asked, smirking.

"Ikkio... cool." Aysun said, thinking on the name for a moment. Hrm, he wasn't sure, it sounded familiar to a degree but not to the point that anything about her was springing forth in his mind. Maybe just a name that he'd heard in passing? He gave a shrug of his shoulders before he set his 'sword' down so that he could pick up another of his gathered 'weapons' this time picking up the one that would be standing in for a spear. He'd seen them used before to great effect during the tournament he went to so long ago thought to himself, swinging it around a bit. He wasn't sure about the weight, it might take some getting used to.

Turning to look over at Ikkio a moment then nodded, "Yeah, it's nice to meet you too." He said, before he set to swinging his 'spear' around a moment before he held it up over his head, "Heh, look! I'm one of those bug ladies!" He said, thrusting and stabbing it forward a couple times at nothing in particular before standing up on his tip toes in an attempt to pretend to be taller then he actually was. It had him laughing a bit, amused at his own joke, and had Sunshine chirping in delight in only because Aysun seemed pretty happy. She was the youngest in the group and as such the one that was easiest to amuse.

"Have you?" He asked, wondering where she might have heard his name, from his parents maybe? He seemed to only really stop and focus when she mentioned his twin. Giving a grin he nodded, "Yeah, my brother Chandra!" He chirped happily, wondering what his twin was up to today... probably off reading one boring book or another if he had to guess. It was why he had to get strong and take care of him, to keep him from getting hurt cause he had his face buried in a book when something scary appeared.

.

Chandra. Ah yes.

”Does the name Ikuri mean anything to you, then?” Ikkio decided not to tell him just yet – better to lead him a long a bit. That made it all the more fun.

Though he was amusing enough on his own. She laughed obligingly at his imitation of spearwork – her mother was far more able. “Very ferocious.” she said warmly, amused at his standing on tip toes, ”Though you forgot the antennae.” she added.

Aysun shook his head as he continue to thrust the 'spear' about, trying to get a good feel for it and if he would want to actually bother with a weapon as big and clunky as this one was. He didn't think so, it just didn't feel natural to him, "I can't say that it... hey, wait..." He paused a moment, a thoughtful look on his face, before he said, "A while back, during the war, Chandra and I were with our Gram, helping out at a healer's tent. There was a pair of bug boy twins, but there was another pair too... was that you and your sister?" He asked, a curious look on his face. It had been some time since he'd seen them so he had no idea what they might look like now, but he felt that it was possible that she was one of them.

At the mention of him forgetting the antennae he looked up at his head for a moment, then laugh, "I suppose it's alright that I don't have bug lady antennae, I don't think that the spear is for me. It's just too difficult to really wield well all that long. It's just too heavy for my tastes. Sorry, Pembe, I have to vote against this one." He set the 'spear' down on the ground, allowing the Scorra to start to peck at it again.

"Twin swords, perhaps?" He picked those up next holding them up, then set to swinning them about, laughing as he did so, "I have a feeling I would probably end up hitting myself in the face with them, it feels a bit complicated... but I bet if I could refrain from doing so I'd look cool." A comment that had the pink Sprite laughing as it flew around him.

”It very likely was.” said Ikkio. She remembered Samoset and Kennet – their dad was friends with her parents – but she didn't remember the others. They had not, after all, been important at the time.

”I helped out a healer too.” she said, ”A Shifter lady.” she watched as he picked up the two 'swords'. That was how she had found out what she wanted to be; let her sister and father and mother have raw power. She wanted the power over life and death, sickness and health.

From the way he wielded the 'dual swords' she was pretty sure that he would kill himself with real blades. Which would be funny, but he could be useful yet. ”Mmm... I don't know.” she said, not wanting to really commit to an answer.

And then she had an idea. A wonderfully wicked idea. It would be fun, too, though perhaps only for her. She took out her practice spellbook and gave him a predatory smile. ”Maybe you would find your weapon better if you...” she opened the book and caressed a page absently before cooling the air around her into mist, just to show off a bit. ”Tested it out? In a small duel?”

She needed to practice her magic anyway.

Aysun nodded his head, "I don't know either." He mused, uncertain about what it was that he should pick. He was going over the weapons in his head but thus far he knew that he could count out the spear and the double swords, they didn't really feel natural to him. He had a feeling that when he found the right weapon that he would know it straight away. Turning his head he looked over his shoulder at Ikkio, looking curious for a moment... then gave a gurgling sound in his throat and fell onto Pembe dramatically, "Oh no... don't tell me you're another one?" He asked of her, his voice muffled a bit by the Scorra's feathers.

As he lay on the big pink bird, something that had it sqwaking at him, feathers fluffing up, Sunshine climbed up onto his shoulder to perch there. Lifting his head he looked over at Ikkio then gave a little grumble, "My twin seems to be pretty obsessed with books too." Soooo boring! Why would anyone be so interested in them? He had absolutely no interest in all that reading and magic, finding it all utterly boring in his mind. Shaking his head he forced himself to stand up right, Sunshine settling down on one of his shoulders with Flower coming to land on the other. Lifting a hand to pet the little baby Kinfa he seemed to think over Ikkio's offer then shrugged, "Naw, I don't want to duel with a girl." He said, lifting a hands in a manner that showed he was surrendering, "My mom is pretty terrifying when she fights and I am sure all girls are the same. Let me at least figure out what weapon I want to wield before you go about handing my butt to me."

Chuckling he reached out to scratch Pembe under the chin, "You know I keep hearing about people that fight alongside with animals... but I don't know about all that. I don't want to risk them, I love them too much." He said, turning to look over at Ikkio's Radaku, starring at it for a long moment, and changing the subject he asked, "Where did you get him?"

Another one?! Ikkio wasn't sure if she felt amused or insulted. She let her display of magic fade away – easy enough, considering how inexpert she was with it yet - and raised an eyebrow.

”Well.” she said, closing the book as well and tucking it back to where she was carrying it for convenience, ”I wouldn't say I'm obsessed...” she said, ”Not with the book.” the book was just a device, after all, a repository of things to do.

She smirked. ”Oh?” didn't want to duel with a girl? Again; insulted or amused? She erred on the side of amused, since he seemed just generally amusing. And stupid... but weren't they all. ”Afraid to lose?” Actually, she was. Her magic was unpracticed and she couldn't care less about anything else besides the magic. Her combat skills were sorely lacking.

He explained. ”Ah.” she said, understanding, ”My mother is terrifying as well.” she commented, relaxing. So, it had been a... compliment of sorts? How bizzarre.

”Yes, I have too... Beast tamers, they are called, aren't they?” she stroked Zumurundi's head, ”Or a Rider... Which did you mean?”

”Oh? Zuzu?” she scritched him behind his horns, ”I caught him. Myself.” she lied. ”He is a beautiful radaku, is he not? I named him Zumurundi, after the green crystals.”

So she wasn't obsessed with the book per say, but instead it was the information inside of it that interested her. That might make it a bit better, not to mention that she didn't have her face buried in it. Instead she was using it only for magic... which made him wonder idly if maybe that was why Chandra was so in love with books. Probably not, surely he couldn't spend all day with his face buried in a book but still not show his powers to Aysun, right? It was probably just old legends and the like he decided before he gave her a lop sided grin, "Very afraid, I have seen what women are capable of between my mom and all those ladies at the tournament." Not to mention during the war. Battling with girls just wasn't his thing.

When Ikkio explained that her mother was terrifying as well he was a bit glad, it meant that she understood where he was coming from. At least he wouldn't have to worry about her being insulted by his refusal to fight her, or so he hoped. Turning his attention back to her Radaku he nodded, "Yeah, Beast Tamers and Riders, both sound like they would be interesting but I have a feeling that if I would to become one of those my animals, as well as myself, would probably get dragged into the war. If anyone has to fight it should be me, not them, not as though it's their war after all." Why should they have to fight? He'd feel better knowing that they were safely tucked away somewhere waiting for him to come back to them.

"Hmm, caught him, huh? I went on a Radaku Hunt recently with Flower and Kapila but without any luck." He said, squatting down in front of Zumurundi, Zuzu she called him, and gave him a once over, "He is beautiful." He agreed, then smiled at Zuzu, "You are quite lovely! I can only hope that if I am lucky enough I will one day find a Radaku as beautiful and strong as you are." He praised the creature, feeling the desire to go on another hunt soon in hopes of finding his own Radaku now that he knew finding and catching them was possible. He and his army would just have to fight all that much harder was all and soon enough they would have a new addition to the group... or so he hoped.

Ikkio's wrath, or whatever it was, was mollified. Yes. Good. Let him be afraid of her, why not? Her own father was, the weak willed man. She liked it better when people underestimated her, but she had learned that, even though her father knew she lied, his fear made him easy to manipulate. Easy enough, anyway.

She rubbed the back of Zumurundi's neck, feeling the contours of his fur. ”Mmm... But if you think about it...” and she was, indeed, thinking about it, though she knew where her path lay, ”Your war is their war, too. Animals are such loyal companions...” she gave Zumurundi a secretive smile.

Zumurundi rumbled happily and attempted to lick the young mans face in gratitude. He appreciated the compliment... well, compliments... a lot!

Ikkio's eyes narrowed at her companion, who was now being decidedly disloyal. Her hand stilled, putting a gentle pressure on her Radaku that, hopefully, would remind him who his master was.

Zumurundi knew. He nudged Ikkio's leg apologetically, rubbing his horns gently against her.

Satisfied with her Radaku's response, Ikkio smirked. ”Oh?” she said, ”Do tell me about your radaku hunt... I'm sure it's very interesting.”

Aysun gave a thoughtful sound, "Hmm, maybe." He murmured, still not sure about the idea of having his animals fight alongside him. He would much rather that they stayed back, so that they would remain safe. He knew that the Obans were dangerous, he'd seen as much, and as such the idea of them getting their hands on his pets worried him. At the same time he found himself wondering if they would bother as much with his pets as they would with him since he was one of their true enemies. Shaking his head to clear such thoughts he decided he didn't want to think about it, finding it to be far too serious for him to even want to think about right now. If anything he'd much rather focus on Ikkio and Zuzu, finding them to be far more interesting and far less intimidating overall.

His desire to change the flow of his thoughts was aided when Zuzu set to licking his face, something that made him chuckle, "Too cute!" He said, lifting his hands to pet the Radaku in a gentle manner before he pushed up to his feet, stretching out all over, before he turned his attention back to his own pets. As he returned to standing, putting his shoulders out of reach of the Radaku, his pink sprite Flower returned to perching on his shoulder, looking down at the Radaku, before sitting down on his shoulder. Aysun gave him a smile, "Hey buddy."

Turning back to Ikkio he seemed to think about it a moment... then laughed, "Well, interesting is a bit of a stretch in a way. I mean it was fun, I went on the search with just Flower and Kapila, we roamed around Jauhar a bit near to where my father's family lives, but there weren't any Radaku and definitely no miraculous appearance of a Raptrix pup either." He said, something that caused him to laugh which made Sunshine chirp along with him, as though finding it amusing as well though mostly it was just the fact that she always laughed along with anything Aysun found funny. Giving a smile he explained, "Sorry, sorry, inside joke. While we were out, looking for the Radaku, I had mentioned that I'd like to find a Radaku but that I would also like to find a Raptrix even though I know they hail from far, far away from here."
