Graphic Design

Computer graphics are some of the hardest types of art simply because the artist is not use to using a mouse. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on using photoshop. Anyone have some cool text techniques or how to draw manga online. Good colour tutorials?

Anyone have examples of some good graphic art?

It's true that using a mouse is difficult, that's why if you are sure you will be spending a lot of time in front of a screen, it's best to get a drawing tablet. Some you can get them for affordable prices (especially the Wacom Bamboo tablets, which I recommend), the more features and things on it obviously attributes to the price. For example, there are tablets that have a built in screen and it is like drawing on paper, you just move the stylus across the screen. Those.....those are expensive. eek
Even for the basic ones, they are pretty easy to use once you get a hang of the whole hand-eye coordination (which after an hour of trying it out should start to be a little easier, and trust me you will be trying it out for an hour just to see what you can do with it).

That's awesome. Do you know any good stores that may sell it? Online and Offline? For some reason I don't trust walmart with expensive materials. D:

Oh sure thing! Well the tablet I got was from a store called J&R (closed for remodeling sad ). I have seen Amazon carry the very same one I have, last time I checked it was refurbished and going for $30. Here is the official website, and as far as I can see, current product list. There seems to be one that is called the the Bamboo Pad (one wireless going for $79 and the other USB going for $49), which looks like a newer version from the one I have.
There is another online store called Adorama that has a few drawing tablets there as well. You need a credit card for purchase (obvious), not sure if they accept paypall though... question But they do a great job with shipping stuff, had to get something for a photography class and it came in time.

Awesome. I'll keep this in mind when I'm finally able to upgrade this thing. My 15 year old boat anchor couldn't hold any more stuff than it already does right now. I'm hoping to buy a Mac computer soon seeing as many schools request macs. DX I'm glad they lowered the price on many mac items but its been so long since I've used one so converting will be hard. Anyways, Thanks for the advice. I am hopefully going to get a tablet too but it may take a while to get use to.

You are right to not trust Walmart with electronics. I used to work at one and nearly everyone there is absolutely clueless about anything other that what the product is called, the base specs, and the price. Occasionally, you'll get someone who knows something either because they had some education relating to it or simply from experience and most of them just know software. Best Buy, J&R, and Fry's are better in the tech support department. And most electronics at Walmart are really close to bargain bin quality, even though they claim it's good. In all honesty, salvage jobs are better than what they have most of the time.

Thank you. We went there to buy a router lately since ours crapped out. It was terrible. Two trips later we finally found one that works. Which we already were experiencing very little internet to begin with. Even now we still have some router issues when it come to our computers and it being really slow. >.> I stopped trusting Walmart after that. I'd much rather buy the useless junk off of kijiji than go back. And that is saying something.

You're welcome and I'm glad I could help with the little I could. Macs tend to have different shortcuts than PCs, so that will take some to get used to. Hope your computer can last a little longer until you get the new one 3nodding
