Eternal Sailor Aster was a liability for the Resistance. She was a long-time firm believer in peaceful protests, and a loud one at that. Unfortunately, in these dark times, someone who expresses their opinions so loudly made for an easy target.

She knew it was dangerous to leave the refugee camp and go into the city, especially powered up, but she couldn't sit idly by - even if her husband insisted she stayed by his side. Her act of protest this evening was small - a large spray-painted graffiti tag reading: <******** you, Negaverse. It wasn't the most clever or witty, or even the most catchy, but damn, did she mean it.

It was something that was certainly going to catch their eye - and based on the number of Chaos power signatures drawing in, it looked like she was successful at that.

She dropped her can of spray paint and started to make a run for it, letting the Chaos agents chase after her...

"Strong Order signature moving east. Alone. General Jarosite in pursuit, requesting back up," he said into his crystal. He ran after the signature, foot falls heavy. This was his business, eradicating order where it cropped up. He thought they knew better now, but clearly, clearly they were still misguided. A pity. The swords at his belt bounced off his hips as he moved, turning around corner by wall running and leaping off of it.

The years had changed him. He was in his late twenties now and built like a freight train. He'd put on the muscle and pounds, and it was hard for his coat to fit over his arms and shoulders these days. He was good at what he did though. He had fifty kills to his name as of today, and he was a brutal, brutal fighter. He had his reservations about the way the world had gone, but they'd brought it on themselves.

His coat snapped at his ankles and he ran past the graffeti without looking at it. Music still blasted in his ears, and he used it as his personal sound track. Made killing so much more fun.

Time to kill a senshi.

Penthesilea could already feel the Order aura tingling at the edges of her senses, and the Corrupted Eternal needed no call from a General to send her flying in the direction of a fight.

Five years ago, it might have been her, spraypainting slogans on walls. She had been ever so foolish and misguided then - believed that Chaos was evil, and that she alone could somehow stem the tide. Bischofite had shown her how wrong she was when he corrupted her, over her stringent protestations. Now, she turned a much more sadistic aggression on Order, and God help anyone who got in her way.

"On my way, General," she said into her communicator, and she had to restrain herself from laughing.

Alone? General Jet wondered if this particular senshi was hardly worth his time. If there were already calls to other to join, eliminating a single senshi should be easy. Two was definitely enough, and yet, as he heard Penthesilea speak up in response, Jet’s still youthful face twisted into a horrible scowl.

He didn’t respond verbally, but he was Jarosite could feel his energy approaching. The energy they were in persuit of seemed nothing more than your typical, stupid senshi. Moving too close to the city. Maybe they were even dumb enough to lead them right back to one of their little hideouts.

That would be when Jarosite would need backup. And Jet was more than happy to help rip out the starseeds of a few more senshi. Perhaps he could even find a way to corner Penthesilea when her back was turned...

Ronin remained as still as he could, perched up in a tree away from the outskirts of the city. His fist was raised in the air, signaling others to hold and remain where they were as they waited for Aster to return their way.

It was a dangerous operation, like every other one was, but the fact that they had no idea how many Negaverse officers Aster would draw their way made his stomach twist. If all went according to plan, their surprise attack would remind these officers who they were dealing with.

And so he waited, just a little while longer as a civilian, before he was able to see Aster making her way towards them. They had to remain powered down until the last second, otherwise they would have no element of surprise.

“NOW!” he cried, and powered up, the bright auras of senshi and knight coming to life around him, having also been hiding wherever they could in the forest as they waited. “Aster, up here,” he called, wanting her to get out of the way of any attacks that might be fired in her direction at the approaching officers.

Oh for ******** sake.

"AMBUSH!" he screamed into the crystal before skidding to a halt in the middle of the ring of powered signatures. Lovely, just great. He gritted his teeth and spun his swords in his hands. He should have foresaw this, damnit! The little twerps were learning.

"Show them no mercy," he said as the others arrived. Jarosite growled softly and scanned the trees. "In the trees, probably won't fight us directly." Which meant it was going to be harder for someone like Jarosite to fight them. But he'd deal with it.

Besides, teleportation was a thing.

She ran like hell. This was all a part of the plan after all. And as soon as she heard the call from Oberon, Eternal Sailor Aster immediately pivoted 180° and faced her pursuers.

"Sunflower Bomb!" she called, tossing out a large magical sunflower head into the area before her towards Jarosite as a central target. Anyone with in range may find themselves and the floor covered in a slippery, gross sunflower oil or possibly cut by the petal shrapnel. The irony was never lost on her that such a peace-lovign Senshi had magic that took the form of automated guns and explosives.

But she couldn't waste another moment before turning and running some more, closer to her allies and reinforcements. She couldn't risk being taken, she needed to return home to her husband.

Aster's Sunflower Bomb!
How it Works- Sailor Aster summons a very large, magical sunflower head that she flings into the battlefield. It then explodes/poofs into a burst of sunflower oil and petals. The petals disperse in the explosion, and can slash or cut anyone within range (ally or foe). The petals can only slash – not puncture or penetrate – and then they disintegrate as they are magic. Furthermore, sunflower oil also spreads out, which can sting the wounds, but mostly is just gross. The floor is a little slippery towards the center of the blast, and anyone can slip on it if not careful! Mostly, the oil is just really gross.

It wasn't the communication crystal that would draw the hunter to the party, but the play of Order energy singing along her skin like a some enticing melody. Always, her mission was seek and destroy. A blade in the dark, though she preferred the satisfaction of metal wrapped fists to the soft glide of a razoed edge. Brutality was her life, civilian and powered, and she certainly enjoyed it.

The years had changed the teen, now a woman in her mid twenties. Violet hair was longer, though buzzed short on the sides. A general, her attire had morphed with her purpose. Sleek, tight, stealthy. She moved in silence towards the source of the order aura, aware of the other gathering powers, but uncaring of them.

Only one. Her partner, her friend. He lingered beside her in the dark, a smile on his face, and malice in cool eyes.

"We're close." A useless observation. He could feel the senshi as well as she could, but communication was key in any successful partnership. "Others are closer. Right on top of it. If we want a piece of the action we'll have to hurry." Her head cocked to one side, bird-like, as she considered their option. "Or we could hang back, see if any back up come to save their foolish friend. You know I'm interested in sharing." At least not prey.

"Ugh, ******** work. Can't we just skip it and do something else?" he whined. "I'm hornyyyyyy." He continued to whine like a hungry child. But horny.

Typhon hadn't changed much over the years. He was older, but no more mature. In his powered form, his appearance appeared to be mostly the same, other than a hidden tattoo, but his hairstyle at a regular civilian length changed by the week. He aged fairly well - if he looked constantly slightly strung out or drunk, it's probably because he was. These were depressing times that called for escapism, and he was quite the hedonist to start.

But he knew ditching the job for a quick tumble with Xenotime wasn't exactly an option. He groaned again. "Let's just get it over with and kill this b***h?"

"And then, we shall ********!" he shouted as his battle cry as he leapt forward into the action.

"Delightful," Penthesilea growled, when the ambush was announced. By her tone, it actually was. The redheaded Corrupt practically crashed into the gathering of Order auras, just in time to get some of the side-effects of a burst of sunflower oil and slashing wounds from petals. She growled, eyes on the Eternal who had thrown it.

"Oh, I am going to make you regret that," the Corrupt snarled. It was disgusting, and it clung to her and made her cuts sting and her hair feel weighed down.

Deploying her magic was always careful and strategic - even her Eternal attack, though far more straightforward than her other two, required proper timing. She just needed to wait for the right moment and maximum targets.

Sailor Ronin kept his distance from the fighting, watching and waiting for something to happen.

Rigged all along the hill the Negaverse were running up were various traps. None meant to actually capture them, but stall them and make them think twice about pursuing? Sure.

There were large dug holes, covered in pine straw and sticks, nets hidden in the dirt that would capture an officer and pull them high into the trees, triggers that would send piles of logs and rocks rolling their way in the darkness.

Crude, mostly useless traps, sure. But annoying and disconcerting? Absolutely.

Besides, the more energy they used to teleport out of various holes and nets and out of the way of falling logs and rocks… the less energy they had to escape.

———————————————————————————

A few senshi and knights were hardly anything to worry about. They made their mistake when they ventured out of whatever rat hole they’ve been hiding. Jet had the same problem Jarosite did, in that he had a bladed weapon that was no good for long range attacks. Even still, if he had to teleport to reach senshi in the trees and kill them, he was fine with that.

However, he did not expect to trip over what seemed like a thin rope. “What the--” he snarled, stumbling only a little to catch his balance. Stringing up rope for them to trip over? How pathetic…

Of course, the rumble of several large tree trunks suddenly coming down the clearing was something he expected more from an old movie or video game than in real life. “Look out!” he called to the officers around him, making sure to get out of the way of the falling logs.

The general paused, turning to face the corrupt with cool eyes and and dark lips curving up into a dangerous smile. "Typhon." Her voice purred with the warning, but even as the man conceded she'd moved closer to him, raising a hand to slide the tips of her fingers along the back of his neck as she drew him down so she could leave a dark smudge of lipstick on his lips. "It's so easy to properly motivate you into action. I hardly have to try at all."

She released him, and he shot off with a brash cry of later conquests that left the huntress chuckling in his wake before she too was moving, racing his shadow.

She could hear them now, all the other bodies out in the dark. The sound of boots pounding across the pavement, across roofs. Clothing rustling, breath heavy. The night was alive, the hunt was on. She preferred a solitaire chase, but she couldn't deny that electric tingle climbing up her spine, like a livewire had been touched to her skin.

"Typh, be careful." The warning was hissed, a thin thread of anger leaking into her voice. Chaos surrounded them, but there were order auras peppered around. She could feel them. Hiding, waiting. A trap? Were they still organized enough for something like that? The woman wouldn't put it past them. The will to survive runs deep.
