Azure Vivacity
I used to play BG since it came out and it was difficult to break even what you spent on fish and harder to get profits, but the prices I see now in the marketplace are outrageous.
Do you still get profit from your aquarium? o.O
Also, I noticed not a lot of people play anymore....
Whether or not someone gains a profit from their tank I feel depends on a couple of things such as: how you buy your fish. Obviously if you buy them on the market your tank can't possibly earn that much back because of the insane prices due to inflation. The smartest way to get fish is to join booty grab guilds that give away free fish as prizes to those that are the most bumpers to tanks that are glowing. Many good booty grab guilds have threads where you can win fish in various games and contests. Also there are guilds where members give fish to fellow members in need out of the kindness of their heart for free. In those cases you can make a profit on your tank but only if you make it a point to bump it like crazy when your own tank glows. Since less people are playing you have to gain the attention of those that still play on your own. Don't count on anyone else to bump your tank for you. Make it a point to be online for your glows and bump your glow thread hard. Since it is much easier to earn money by playing the market most people do that now instead of playing booty grab.
I myself only keep fish in my tank to help the very poor and the very new members of Gaia so they get a chance to earn some gold. Obviously I don't earn very much from my tank because most of the time I am too sick to stay online and bump my own glows. Also I keep it filled partly as a hobby and enjoy decorating it according to the holidays. I earn my gold to fill my tank by buying and selling items on the market.
