The Negaverse
Five years gone, the Negaverse has successfully infiltrated every level of the future society. They are the government, the military, the workforce and your neighbors. They are the judge, the jury and the executioner.
The Negaverse has taken over a large former business complex with one of the tallest towers in the city to become the Negaverse Headquarters. This elaborate facility operates much like a governmental capitol with various offices and departments operated by the Negaverse and carefully monitored civilian employees. Civilian employees who step out of line are never heard from again.
To those that are loyal? Maybe things aren't so bad.
The Negaverse knows what's best for you and control nearly every aspect. There is only the illusion of free will.
The new mayor, General King Kenisite? Elected by the masses of their own volition. Of course, it probably helped that the majority of the other candidates backed down or met untimely fates, but everyone knows that Kenisite was exactly what everyone wanted.
Crime rates are lower now than ever. Medical costs are at a minimum. Poverty is almost unheard of. No stomach remains unfed. The only tax you pay is a monthly donation of energy at one of the many centers that now speckle Destiny City.
In some ways, the Negaverse has brought upon a utopia.
But at what cost?
The average civilian, encounters Negaverse Agents on a frequent basis; they are a source of comfort and despair. As long as you live within their rules, you're left alone. Probably.
But if you go against them?
You're just as bad as the Terrorists. Which, the Negaverse has taken a very aggressive stand against.
It is rare to see a White Moon Senshi or Knight in Destiny City; the Negaverse has been issued to corrupt or kill on sight—and you're lucky if they do it on the spot instead of capturing you and returning you to their base. The Negaverse also relies heavily on civilian tips for suspected terrorists; every helpful tip gets a sizable cash reward and the Negaverse's personal thanks. Anyone found or suspected guilty of harboring terrorists will be pulled in for an official inquisition. It's unlikely they'll ever be heard from again.
Welcome to the Future
When considering where your Negaverse agent is in five years, keep these details in mind. The hierarchy within the Negaverse still exists – Lieutenants are at the bottom of the totem pole, and the higher the rank the more influence you are permitted. Generals who have held their post for the past five years may hold higher influence than others, but all must take orders from their General-Kings and Queens, who in turn follow commands of a higher power.
You may choose where your character is – but consider that as an agent of the Negaverse, they are likely in official posts or jobs that can contribute to the Negaverse society and their maintenance of control. The duties of a Negaverse officer are no longer to drain energy – unless to subdue an enemy – but to maintain their hold on society by eliminating any resistance or Order threat.
Officers who specialized in Intelligence may be spying on the resistance or Order movements, while those in Spec-Ops may be the enforcers who eliminate the threats, and Infiltration officers are in charge of maintaining a civilized society through their own manipulations and power schemes of oppression. Over the five years, your character may find themselves in any one of these positions. These are not the only three paths to take – you are welcome to find your own role within the future.
Your agents may find themselves working in:
City Hall:
The Negaverse has infiltrated the government and any officials not in line with their goals have long since been weeded out. As an employee of City Hall, you are under the direct supervision of General-King Kenisite, who was most certainly voted in by public majority and without any influence of the Negaverse. You work alongside him in developing laws and reforms, helping Negaversers find appropriate positions within the city, developing and budgeting for both the Negaverse and Destiny City. Agents who have a drive for critical thinking, a good business mind and desire to better the world, one law at a time, are encouraged to fill this role.
Donation Centers:
Donation centers have been set up in various places around the city and civilians are required to make a donate every two weeks. These Donation Centers are very similar to a normal blood donation center, and are generally not unpleasant places at all. All agents who work in the centers have a few jobs to perform, including but not limited to checking in donors, monitoring donors during donation (the donor must be able to walk out of the facility), and tracking and reporting no-shows. Skipping a donation without prior notice and a valid excuse is not tolerated and will result in a Negaverse officer checking in with you at your personal residence. The Negaverse rarely provides more than one warning before punishment, and if you don't learn your lesson then? There are no third chances. Children are also required to donate energy, though to a lesser degree; typically an agent will supervise children and provide them with energy draining items to play while their parents are in for their scheduled appointments. Parents of particularly rambunctious children are invited to bring their children in for additional draining if they are looking for some down time. Negaverse Agents who enjoy working with people, playing with children, keeping things in order, and filing are encouraged to find a job at a Donation Center!
Public Relations:
The Negaverse has done a supreme job of convincing the public that the senshi are the enemy: dangerous terrorists bent on the destroying the city and attempting to take over the world. This belief is to be maintained under all circumstances and the public is not allowed to believe otherwise. As a member of the Negaverse working to maintain public relations, you are the friendlier face of the Negaverse. You may work in any form of media, from the news stations to newspapers to websites, promoting anti-senshi and anti-Resistance propaganda, reporting on accidents caused by senshi, and staging and making up falsities if needed. Here, you hold the very important job of ensuring the Negaverse remains positive to the public eye. Charismatic, fast thinking Negas who aren't looking for violence or enjoy the spotlight are encouraged to fill this role!
Education:
Children are the future and as such they need to be taught about the negatives of Senshi and Knights. Teachers have been give a mandatory course that will be taught all the way through to the college levels. Failure to comply leads to suspicion from the Negaverse; the consequences include removal from the school and interrogation. Many of the teachers who have failed to comply are replaced with Negaverse Agents with degrees and backgrounds in education. Negaversers have assemblies at the school about the importance of avoiding the Senshi and Knights and the importance of reporting suspicious activities. The Negaverse frequently scouts schools for either eligible candidates to fight for Metallia or students with suspicious schedules that might imply they are working with or are Senshi or Knights, themselves. Negaverse Officers often pitch the benefits of working for Metallia to encourage students to want to join them, and with the benefits, safety and power that the Negaverse provides? They've got a pretty good sales pitch. Negaverse Agents who enjoy working with children, teaching, and changing lives are encouraged to apply for a role in Education!
Task Force:
The Destiny City Police Department is almost entirely made up of Negaverse Agents—and why not? They write the rules, shouldn't they be the ones enforcing them? The unique power boost that Agents are provided with upon powering up makes them superheroes; how could any ordinary criminal compete with even the newest of Negaverse Agents? Any new officer not already with the Negaverse might be quickly drafted into their ranks; a proactive officer makes for a good soldier, so any civilians looking to get in good with the Negaverse should check out the police academy! Thanks to this Elite Police Force, the crime rate in Destiny City is at all time low, though you could argue whether this is because of the intense officers keeping the peace or fear of the Negaverse's punishment system that keeps would-be criminals at bay. In addition to weeding out civilian menaces, Agents that work in this field are required to look for any sign of those menacing Order characters—and follow tips and leads. Negaversers in this field may also receive calls with tips about the Terrorists—and any tips that lead to a senshi or knight capture and arrest has a reward of a thousand dollars—or more if a particularly menacing Terrorist happens to be brought in. When not working in an office setting or responding to civilian issues, these Agents are also required to patrol within city boundaries at night, looking for any mysterious happenings or clues to Order's Hideouts. Downtown Destiny City is heavily patrolled while suburban and urban areas are a little less so. Most agents do not venture beyond the city's borders; this is a task for youma. Agents who like a hands on approach, giving out orders and extracting punishment, hunting down leads and senshi, and getting a lot of exercise are encouraged for this position!
Anti-Order Propaganda
EndFear is an anti-senshi, anti-knight propaganda website created and operated by the Destiny City Police department. It contains imagery, often professionally doctored of knights and senshi participating in terrorist activity, as well as images depicting Negaverse officers in a positive light, capturing terrorists, helping the community, and building a better future. Several pages are included in the website, from a list with images of terrorists brought to justice, as well as terrorists at still at large page. If the Negaverse has managed to capture an image of you, you are likely on the list. There is also page, called Terror Watch, dedicated to civilian tips and leads, on suspicious activity, to help in bringing the terrorist to justice. No expense has been spared for the website and it contains many tracking cookies and the best defense available, created by the cyber squad at the police department, so beware your use of the website.
Undercover Reconnaissance:
This is a particularly dangerous role for Negaverse Officers that requires them to get close to Order characters. It is often considered a subset of the Task Force because they work very closely with them to share all information and provide tips and information to hasten the capture of Order opponents. Officers doing undercover reconnaissance may feign doubts about their role in the Negaverse or strongly hint that they wish to purify or join the Order Campaign in hopes of befriending a Terrorist with loose lips. You must make careful calls as to what you can do or say to the Terrorists to earn their trust; if the Negaverse suspects you of getting too close to an Order enemy or if they suspect your loyalty is wavering, it might just be your head on the chopping block next. Negaverse Agents who react well under pressure, are exceptionally charming and quick thinking, and who are great actors are encouraged to apply for this position!
Order Elimination:
Elimination of all Order opponents is the number one goal of the Negaverse; while the masses have been crushed, there are still plenty of pesky Terrorists out there, and while Metallia is confident that they have won, if it is one thing Chaos has learned, it's that you can never be too careful with Order. There are specific officers on the case when it comes to tracking and researching areas the Terrorists might be hiding out. These officers are typically very skilled in hunting and capturing targets, executing all who resist, and corrupting all who comply. These officers work closely with the Destiny City Task Force to determine what targets can be handled on a small or large scale operation. In addition to procuring the targets, within this group there is a special group skilled at interrogating captured senshi and knights. Interrogation is only for those with the thickest of skins and the strongest of stomachs; these Agents are expected to do all that is necessary to extract the answers they need. Order targets are taken to one of several hidden, underground facilities for interrogation. Any target who provides useful information will be granted the option of corruption, though failure to provide any information is a slow and painful death sentence. Negaverse Agents who are extremely loyal, are experienced in combat, and are exceptionally convincing are encouraged to fill this role.
There are many other roles your Negaverse Agent can fill, and if you have something specific in mind, please feel free to PM the mule and we can discuss!
