The teal and black mare with the unusual markings and bright pink eyes lay on the ground, her legs tucked comfortably beneath her as the four bundles in front of her slept. She had given birth only a couple weeks ago, but the foals were stirring and emerging. Three girls, beautiful as their mother with all the same markings of cobwebs and koi, and one boy, lightning crackling strong across his body like one of his fathers. She had given them all very strong names. The boy was Arach Marius Nicator, strong, named after his mother. The paler girl with golden hues and red lightning was D'aan ReNae, ramed firstly after her dragon father, then after her mother. Then there was Scylla, the purple with a little bud forming on her nose, and finally but definitely not least was Xerana Fae, the little black, most like her mother's coloring, but with darker hues. Arachnae nosed her little bundles, pride and happiness filling her chest more than she ever thought possible. None of her past loves could have filled her with this feeling, and she would not change anything for the world. She looked up, her eyes searching for the two males who had constantly surrounded her, though the two headed one who still filled her with a bit of fear kept more of a distance than the dragon who was now her stalwart companion and quite possibly the love of her life.

D'von had been standing nearby, trying not to pace with the stress of his conflicting emotions. He was a father, which brought both joy and panic into his life. He had become notoriously protective of Arachnae during her pregnancy, and it seemed that their relationship might last--a happy thought. But there was also a seed of worry that had rooted itself in his chest. Scylla had his colors, and both she and Arach had his purple lightning... but he was not happy to discover that. It made him worry more about them than Xerana Fae and D'aan ReNae, though the latter shared in his family's naming tradition. What if Barb found them? Or D'mitri? Both parents were bad news for these foals; one would turn them into little mindless monsters and the other would kill them as if they were such. His thoughts were disrupted by the sound of movement by Arachnae. His gaze went to her, followed by his feet. He watched the stirring bundles as he laid beside the beautiful mare, nudging her affectionately before shifting his gaze to the stirring blankets. A spiny tail flicked out from underneath Arach's blanket, sending a chill down his spine. But this tail wasn't like Barb's; it was like Orthus's serpentine one. How many would have those tails--or spikes like himself? Hopefully not too many. But glancing at Nae again swept those questions away. Those pink eyes shone with her love and joy for those precious bundles, and the feeling was contagious. They would be alright. When they were a little older, he'd help teach them to defend themselves. He didn't want them to be used by others--especially not his barbaric mother. Arach squirmed underneath his blanket, trying to get his limbs free of the cloth. He made a grumbling noise as he flopped onto his side, now tangled up in the blanket even worse than before. Only his nose and tail were free to move as the colt attempted in vain to release himself from the blanket's grasp.

Orthus trotted along until he spotted the female laying in the grass, four little ones laying lazily in front of her. His heads turned in unison, one staring with cold, hard eyes. He did not seem particular interested in what he was seeing, while the other's eyebrows rose and he squinted to see. He approached slowly, stopping in front of the purple female. A horned nose peeked out from underneath. The friendlier of the two gawked in amazement at the four children before him, then leaned down to sniff at the purple girl. Her head lifted up and their noses touched, then she growled and snapped, catching his lip and biting down. Although startled, he simply just pulled away. The little one's teeth were beginning to come it, and the bite was mostly gummy.

Arachnae reached over and grabbed her son's blanket, lightly pulling it, only enough that he could tumble out easily. She lightly nipped at his haunches, just below his spikes before turning to D'von and smiling sweetly at him before turning back to her babies.
D'aan tumbled out of her blanket furiously, her unsteady legs pushing her up, only to fall back down, her tail whipping her mother's side, drawing blood. Her red eyes opened and she let out a squeak, turning to the scratches on her mother and pushing her nose to them, staining the white tip of her face with the blood before she turned to squeak at her fathers, trying to get to her hooves again.

Arach lightly tumbled from the blanket, letting out a grunt. He let out a little growl of surprise when his mother nipped him, scampering onto unsteady feet before slowing to try and stay upright. He wobbled, but stayed up as he lifted an innocent, curious gaze to his mother. When D'aan scratched Arachnae's side, he unsteadily tried to walk over to her.
D'von nudged D'aan, who seemed to be panicking a bit, as gently as he could. He didn't want to accidentally poke her with his nose horn. Then he turned his attention to the little filly's mother. "Are you alright?" he asked, eyes shimmering as worry as he approached slowly--he didn't want to step on the stirring, foals, after all. He inspected the scratches that D'aan had caused, but he had to circle Nae so that he was behind her so that he could see the wounds without casting a shadow over them.
Arach watched the large purple stallion go over to his mother, pausing and turning to face the two-headed stallion by his purple sister. He tentatively took careful steps towards them, steel-colored eyes flicking between his two-headed destination and the ground where he was stepping.

The black blanket stirred the same as the others. one little head jerked up and a silver thorn stabbed the blanket. The head jerked again, and the blanket gave a brief shredding noise. Another figure jerked to life next to the identifiable one, and a short whinny of annoyance licked the air as the blanket ripped more. Very shortly a roiling mass of squabbling, the blanket was torn to shreds by two silver thorns, before any hooves emerged, ripping at the fabric as the blanket's captive argued with itself. Two faces masked in white picked at one another and bit in each other's direction as though they didn't share the rest of the form, and one hoof, writhing in sharp blue electricity made a stand beneath them, as though they were both trying to beat upon each other. The other three hooves of the young, clumsy creature followed, and the beast stumbled to her feet, snapping and biting at itself, before the legs collapsed and left the little beast in a heap, both little muzzles pressed into the dirt with the weight of the rest of their body. The undignified pose left her back legs crossed behind her and her forelegs tucked under the tiny barrel of her chest while her attentive, sharp green eyes glared at each other.

D'aan squaked at her siblings as she finally made her way to her hooves and stumbled over to her darker sister, nipping at the tangled backlegs as her tail wizzed behind her in a fury, stopping short of hitting herself in the side. Her red eyes blared as she bit down with sharp but tiny teeth, only for the big female to seperate her from her sibling.
Arachnae gave D'von a short nod, her mouth open to speak, but the squabbling heads and the yellow female fighting caused her to get up, ignoring the small marks in her side as she separated the two, then helped the darker one to her hooves. "Xerana, quit fighting with yourself. There's time for that later. D'aan, leave your sister along and just get used to your own legs first." She looked up just in time to see Arach toddling towards Orthus and the other girl. "Arach, Scylla... Leave Orthus alone. I'm sure he doesn't want you pestering him at the moment." She said, stepping slightly closer, though not close enough to get in range of the eviler head of her, unorthodox, temporary mate.

Both of Xerana's heads jerked up when the beige sibling picked at her legs, and if they hadn't rammed into each other's noses, they'd have extended the fight between them to include the beige filly. Mother's patience spoke up over them, as they started to argue, and one glared at the mare and snapped her teeth, while the other pretended to sulk.
There was mention of others. The sulky face looked around warily at the little beasts that looked like her... and mostly... like her... and then the larger beasts that both shared similarities to her shape. She nipped at her sister-head and pointed her sharp muzzle towards D'von and Orthus, as if both had only just noticed them.
There was some struggling involved, and a few more nips, before the back legs of the mess came untangled, and, as if annoyed with its sister-head, the glare-happy raised the electric hoof and stomped on the other, bringing little squeaks from both, before they again shared glares and lost the concentration required to keep function in the wobbly, wirey legs. At least this time, the pile wasn't tangled when they fell, but they were bickering again, pulling at each others' thin fur and manes and tugging on ears.

Arach froze the moment his name was called, turning towards his mother. He innocently stared at her and remained where he was, his little legs trembling but successful at keeping him upright.
D'von sighed and stuck his head between the two bickering muzzles of Xerana's little body. His teeth clamped on their manes and he used the grip to pull them back to their feet. "You won't get anywhere if you keep fighting," he informed them. Xerana Fae had mostly Arachnae's colors and markings with a touch of resemblance to D'von's father D'mitri. And the girls all seemed to have lightning crackling on their legs... He glanced over at Arach, who was now standing as still as a foal newly walking could stand. His lightning marks, like D'von's own, were simply marks. That was something curious to note, as was Arach's features being notably more like D'von and Orthus than Nae's. Glancing over the children again, he discovered another thing that their son lacked that their daughters had in common: the Hate tattoo located on shoulder or flank. Was it coincidence, or perhaps related to the lightning?
D'von shook his head to clear the strange thoughts. He was thinking too much. He gave a hesitant nudge to D'aan hopefully helping discourage her from bothering her two-headed sister. The concept of being a father still terrified him. Having no good parenting of his own, he didn't know how. His gaze shifted to Arachnae, tried to hide the flash of panic in his features. Spiky, lightning-laced children, one with two, bickering heads heads and one still half-hidden in its blanket. Even if Orthus stayed to help, raising them would be no easy task...
