Hobbies: Cheerleading - Alexa signed up for Parks and Rec cheerleading when she was eight and hasn't stopped since. It's her sport now. She was thrilled to get on the cheer squad as a freshmen. Because she's so tiny, she's a flyer, which means she gets to be at the top of pyramids and do all of the most exciting flips, which she loves. She loves the adrenaline rush and being watched, as well getting to wear the cute cheer uniform and getting to go to all of the games so she can watch the cute athletes.
DIY Fashion - Alexa loves clothes, accessories, makeup, and anything fashion related. Shopping is fun, but also expensive. Doing it yourself is the best way to get awesome things for cheap, at least according to the internet. Also, it's fun! Alexa's wanted to be a fashion designer since she was little, and although she knows she has a long way to go (she's just starting to learn the basics of sewing), she still enjoys trying to make and modify clothes. She spends whatever money she can get from her parents raiding thrift shops for materials, and a chunk of her spare time either searching the web for inspiration or knotting bracelets, gluing sequins onto things, fighting with her ancient sewing machine or begging her mom to let her try stencil bleaching again because she's
not going to ruin the carpet this time she
promises.
Casual Gaming - It started with Candy Crush Saga. Then, one by one, Alexa clicked on all the adorable advertisements and now she's hooked on a wide variety of mindless, brightly colored games. She sinks a few hours into this hobby a day, typically, and would probabally spend a bit of money on it as well if her parents would let her have a credit card. Although these types of games are frowned upon by some people, Alexa isn't secretive or ashamed about playing them. In fact, she'll brag about her victories and talk for minutes about the levels she's
so close to beating to anyone who's willing to listen. She prefers the social games so she can chat with people while getting free extra lives.
Virtues: Cheerful - Alexa usually sees the world as a wonderful place, and she would love to share her love of life with you. Something as small as seeing a flower or animal she likes will make her smile. Nice weather, which to Alexa is anything besides boring gray clouds, is enough to keep her happy all day. Seeing other people happy is the absolute best feeling ever, so Alexa will often smile even brighter, compliment people, and point out interesting or cute things in an attempt to make someone's day. She's also almost always optimistic about the future, even when it doesn't look so bright, realistically.
Persistent - Alexa's ideas are big, exciting, and sometimes impossible, but that doesn't stop her. She throws herself at things that might not even happen with every bit of an enthusiasm she can muster, and she doesn't easily give up on things she wants, even if she's met with discouragement or poor results at first. She'll try things as many times as she has to, in as many different ways as she has to, and often it pays off. She rewrote a paper five times to get an A+ in her favorite eighth grade class, and maybe she's not going to be a fashion designer, but she's definitely learning some practical sewing skills.
Curious - Alexa is naturally a very curious person, which has some benefits. She knows a lot of things about a lot of things, and her favorite thing to know about is people. Many people like to talk about themselves, and Alexa will listen with an interested expression and plenty compliments and genuine smiles. Many people like to talk about their problems, and Alexa will listen closely, try to look sympathetic, nod, and comment about how everything will be okay. Many people like talking about other things, and Alexa will be happy to marvel at the awesomeness of these things with them. She also learns lots of fun facts and juicy gossip so that when it's her turn to talk, she often has something interesting to say.
Flaws: Constant Denial - Alexa stays so happy by completely ignoring everything bad about the world. Thoughts of poverty, war, and even the ever increasing list of missing people in Destiny City are all locked away in the deepest corner of her mind and rarely surface. Some things, however, she can't ignore without consequence. Work in classes she doesn't like tends to go unfinished until the last second, if she does it at all, making her grades suffer, and she won't admit she's sick unless she's feverish or throwing up. While she likes most people, she tends to simply avoid those who she doesn't get along with as much as possible. Failing at things she cares about is another thing she won't even consider, turning
'if at first you don't succeed, try, try again,' into '
if you don't succeed the hundredth time, just keep trying, because something has to work eventually, right? ...right?!' Moody - When Alexa is forced to acknowledge disappointment, she does not handle that disappointment in a particularly mature fashion. Although she can usually brush off not getting her way on something small if she's in a good mood, if it happens too much in a short period of time, or if she's faced with something bigger, like the report card that reflects all the homework she's skipped, or things turning out not as well as she's been promising herself they will, the bubbly happiness begins to fade and is replaced by sullen behavior and snappy but unhelpful remarks. She's outgrown hysterics for the most part, but she is not above crying or loudly complaining in order to get the point across that she isn't happy.
Nosy - Alexa's curiosity can get on people's nerves. There are good reasons not to tell her things. For one, she's not going to be keeping it to herself, and for another, even though she always wants to hear about people's problems, her advice is always just that 'it'll be okay'. Still, it's not easy to convince her that you don't want to talk about something. If she hears you're having either issues or an interesting life, the more you deny it or try to change the subject, the more she'll be convinced you have some giant awesome secret and the more annoying she'll get.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: A bit larger than average and very round. They're a soft blue violet color.
Hair: Strawberry pink, it falls in waves a little past Alexa's shoulders, but she usually wears it
curled under in the back. Face: She has a round face that's still a bit childish looking. Her skin is a healthy looking peach. She wears really colorful makeup whenever she can.
Clothes: Usually bright and colorful, but well matched and trendy. She likes jackets, tights, tall socks, and handmade accessories a lot.
