Good people of the GCA we need to get to working on our summer event planning. Not sure when the event will begin but recent posts around the GCD are hinting at a summer festival theme.
The Kickstarter, while not the most complete and up to date list of items and gold at the moment netted us some very nice items and gold to pass out. By the time the event starts we'll have over 200 various Caches to pass around on the mule along with over 18,592,257,305 in gold. What we have as of right now is well over 121,913,697,087 worth of items according to TekTek (they don't count animal items at all), which can net us a fairly okay event if we plan things right. We have a nice number of animal items but we can always get more by raiding the stash of recolors and hair pieces from Loyal's shop.
That's where we stand right now. What we need to do is decide on what contests we'd like to run for the summer event along with a general theme. I'd like to hammer out the details now so I can work on the general backbone for the thread before the event is made live. Also, I would love it if this event helped recoup the costs for the next event with some kind of fund raising arm attached to it.
Here's what I was thinking we could do for the upcoming event:
✖ Best dressed avatar contest for human bases
✖ Best dressed avatar contest for animal bases
✖ Fifty/Fifty fund raising raffle (this time with a better ticket price)
✖ Art freebies (If anyone wants to volunteer their services that would be awesome)
If you guys can think of other things you'd want to try and run during this event suggest away. We did try and have a dice roll contest in the last event but few people took part and we couldn't give away the prize for that. We need to get cracking on this as soon as we can.

Hassli It would be fun to make a fan decorating contest since this is for a Japanese restival What sort of decorating did you have in mind? Were you thinking lanterns or fans or....?
Oh and what do you think of, though I'm not sure exactly how we'd run it, one of those games you see at fairs and festivals where you pull a rubber duck from the water and if there's a certain number or symbol on it you get a small prize. It'd probably have to be a random number generator with three possible winning numbers to increase the chances of people winning something. We could do it for Caches since we have so many of those. Literally, the guild is going to have at least 61 Aquamarine Caches, 39 Amethyst Caches, and 42 Sapphire Caches by the time the event begins so we can definitely use those as small prizes to hand out through the entire event for something like that. Or we could do the same thing and call it a goldfish catch like they have at festivals in Japan.

You could do lantern or fan if you had a template. Maybe a dice or rng contest.

maybe include some art aspects?
if we have any good artists (experience in mini shops means brownie points), we could do a Mini Shop-like food stand with dango and octopus and other traditional treats, or we could morph that into either a role play thread or an art stand (with traditional food as a theme).

How about an event where they tell us about a new stall they want to add to the festival, giving us a description of the stall and what they sell?
Then we'd vote on the one we like best, and it could be drawing optional since some people might be better at writing a description rather than drawing once.

I would like to offer free art in the form of headshots. I'm working out my schedule and I'll be working out what I can reasonably offer. I don't know if I should do line art only or offer coloring. I will update on that soon as I can.

I like the idea of a fan or lantern drawing contest. If we do a fan, I suggest we have someone draw a very plain looking fan design and then have those who enter color the fan. Pretty much a coloring book like contest! If we do the Lantern, I suggest we have the people just draw what they think would be the best lantern that either fits Gaia's theme, or a theme we make up. I suggest something silly like Summer Time Youth!
It might be a fun idea to do "charms" as well. Maybe we could make something like Good Luck Charms, that have a certain design to them and we would put the user's name on it. We could "sell" these for a super low price. We could also do "Wish" charms too, where one more we have a design, and we put the user's wish on it. Maybe even have a few color options as well.
So the charm idea would go pretty much like this.
Us: Hey there sucker! I mean lucky person you! Which charm would you like?
User: I'd like a Wish charm please! In the color Blue, with my wish of I Hope I Make Great Friends this School Year yay!!
Us: That's Lame. Here's your charm! That'll be 1,000 gold please! *gives them a "charm" which is in a shape of something maybe? Like a Leaf? Or flower or something, saying their wish and is blue*
YAY!
Also maybe we should do a lite RP group of a festival and those who help host it run a "booth". So maybe there would be a "food" one, which could be something, another selling items such as the charms and, another could be for free art, another for a contest and so on and so on depending on what we do.
I also suggest two things, one is having a fortune telling "booth" which I could run. There I could give silly fortune readings and give a little badge of honor to them. I was thinking about drawing something silly that they could put in their sig later on.
The other idea is having a Ghost Story "booth" In Japan, summer time tends to be ghost story telling time because it gives them chills and keeps them cool. True story.

I was working up some mini contests to have along with the fifty-fifty raffle and our two Best Dressed contests (human and animal bases) and having some kind of simple art to go along with the freebies we can hopefully have from Hydro would be great. So far I'm thinking of having a plain and simple you post you're entered door prize random number drawing on the last day of the festival for a couple of decent items on the mule.
I was also thinking, though I'm not sure if this should be done by handing out the inexpensive fish from Global Imports or if we could get some small art for prizes, of having a goldfish scooping game. I was thinking we'd either do a random number deal or a dice roll and pick maybe two or three numbers and when the person pulls one of those numbers they win a goldfish in a bag. If they don't then it means their paper scooper broke.
The idea for the fan or lantern contests is a good one, however, if we go through with it we'll have to find someone who can draw up some simple line art for us pretty soon because I'm not sure how soon after the kickstarter is over with the Festival will begin. Meushi I love the idea of the charms! Do you need help designing them? =D I love fortunes from fortune cookies xD One of the first graphic art pieces I did was showing off all the fortunes I'd saved over the years. Btw, Chibi. I will confirm: I offer to do three headshot line-arts for three users for free for our thread, minimum. I will do more if possible, but I'll confirm this much so you know you can set up the event thread with that information.
