Location: The Sahara Desert (North Africa)
Images:: x, x, xx
General debriefing: The Sahara has been a strong hold of the Horseman Clans for millenia. Current events have created a demand for more widespread observation of the area, as well as a need for greater experience with the region among Hunters and trainees.

Duties include: Upkeep of base. Acclimatization. Regular patrols. Observe and record any aberrations found within the area. Capture specimens. Destroy threats to the human populace. Flagging A and S class threats for special dispatch.

Bring supplies for at least a three day stay as a base. Modified desert uniforms and gear are available from the Quartermaster. Extra charged runes are recommended.

* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three to five, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee)

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse for Reconnaissance Mission S86. You will roll at least 1 daily prompt for each of the hunters on the team, unless the mission ends early due to injury or further enemy interference.

Daily Prompts:
roll 1 d100

1: The ground shakes beneath your feet and cracks begin to appear in the distance when out of the sand a massive sand worm the size of the Empire State Building bursts out. Between its many segments you see tiny flashes of light that upon (dangerously) closer inspection appear to be suits of armour and weapons. Weapons with glowing runic marks. It towers above you and then smashes down upon the camp, destroying it easily. Roll 2d20 to determine your injuries. Your options are to either portal home and report, or stay and fight the creature known as The Armoury (HP: 9999)

2 - 10: Nothing happens.

11 - 20: An unusually large swarm of insects pass by the camp. They seem to pause and hover, blanketing the camp for several moments before moving on.

21 - 30: You find a stone stairway that leads to vine-covered underground temple, red flowers blooming all along its walls. You begin to hear voices, both strange and familiar. Should you get injured at any point during this, the vines will enter your body and begin growing inside your hunter. They will grow more paranoid as the days pass as well as hallucinating, the vines becoming visible under their skin after one day, and then blooming the next. Bringing them back to Deus will end their part in the mission, as they will need a two day day infirmary stay to be rid of the plants. A flower or vine-like scar will remain on their person.

31 - 60: Horsemen appear and attack your camp or patrol group.
((These can be either player character horseman you invite to battle (which will make your base RP points PVP points and worth 2 instead of 1 rp point) or you can battle against an automob who you will be able to possibly capture.))
Horseman AutoMob
(clan/appearance/name are your choice, though do follow the horseman guidelines for such)
HP: 60
Auto Damage: 5
Special: Should you bring their HP to either 0 exactly or 1, then you may viably capture them and bring them back to Deus. (Bonus Pay: $3000) otherwise they simply escape or dissipate.

61 - 70: Nothing happens

71 - 80: You discover an underground oasis. It's very enjoyable.

81 - 90: You fall through the sand into a stone room. Along the floor are piles of body parts. One of the piles begins to move, then several more. Roll 1d20 to escape back up the way you came or destroy a wall with your weapon. You must roll 11 or higher to succeed. Failure causes you to be mobbed by the creatures. Before you pass out, you notice their features changing to match your own. When you wake up, you are naked and alone except for your weapon's totem. You either escape under your own power or are rescued by your teammates.

91: Nothing happens.

92: You're attacked by figures of bone and rotting flesh, they move both mindlessly and as a unit, as it they were puppets.
Corpse Mob:
HP:30
Auto Damage: 3
Special: Every time you miss the auto damage is 6 instead of 3. When they are defeated they simply collapse into parts.

93: Nothing happens.

94 - 99: A sandstorm locks you into the base for the rest of the day. No more prompts may be rolled for that day.

100: Moths shot through with silvery veins begin to form a female figure. (post quote lizbot)

* 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Noemi was surprised that so soon after her intermediate upgrade, she was being requested for work in the sahara. Though she felt safer in the infirmary, it wasn't fair to squelch out of field work when it was assigned. And she had still yet to talk to Shu, though she really wanted too.

The request had stated that she prepare for three days worth, and modified gear for the sand and heat. She arrived, dressed in wear appropriate for the sand as well as the gear she needed. Heavy blue goggles sat on her head, with a small pack of essentials as well as small packs strapped to her waist of medical kits and such. To make sure she'd be okay.

The mission also stated she'd be working with 3 other hunters, so she waited for them at the lighthouse, rereading every detail she could before they left together.

There was little occasion that Abbi wore a grim expression, given her generally typically hyper-active personality and her determination to be the cheeriest of them all, but one of them involved the Sahara. The last time she had been present in the setting she had seen not only the quick decimation of properly trained soldiers, but her own personal defeat. It had not only awarded her the knowledge that those she considered dear could be hurt, but had also gifted her another few scars. An odd blossoming of awkward pink flowers on her shins had been her gift, and Abbi had never forgiven the harsh terrain such a transgression.
When she received the text message to arrive at the portal, that she ought to prepare for a three day trip, the teen had taken the message to heart. No simple outfit was planned this time, no attempt at playfulness as Abbi went full on warrior mode.
Sweater tights, pure black and thick, were paired with a pair of corduroy shorts and a sweater over a simple t-shirt and then a camisole underneath, all tied together with brown boots and a number of bandages she'd crammed into the rabbit eared backpack she had recently acquired. Even if the colors were pastel, even if she hopped to the portal in her cheeriest stance, Abbi was still not optimistic. She would play nice, she would say happy things, but she expected the worse.

It was honestly hard for the teen to be so serious, but she would do her best.
"Hello Noemi. Long time no see." Abbi delivered the line in her best impression of a very Renegade, hardened solider, but could not help herself. She tripped up to the girl and hugged her, gave her a grin and hopped back.
"This sounds like A Super Awesome Mission. I think it needs a code name."

Three days. Sahara. The words had all but jumped out at Sherry. To be fair, she'd survived the Sahara before, clearly, but that didn't make it any more pleasant. It would be hot and sandy and probably have bugs.

The whole time she'd gathered her supplies she's talked herself through it. It'll be fine, we'll be fine, no one will die. This is routine, just some recon and base maintenance. A few days with some lovely people... By the time she was on her way to the lighthouse, she'd pretty much convinced herself it would be easy and was essentially a vacation. She'd just had to omit the word Sahara from her thoughts.

Sherry stepped into the lighthouse with a smile on her face, more than happy to greet the two girls already waiting there. "Noemi! Abbi! How are you lovely ladies?" She was very happy to see them, and it would be fun to spend a few days with them, wouldn't it?

Though she would be the senior Hunter for this mission. She'd done her best to prepare for that, too. Gotta be ready and stay strong. She brought a small pack with her, filled with supplies - some food (MREs mostly), water, extra bandages, extra socks and leggings, and a few pieces of hard candy. Sadly chocolate was a bad idea with heat.
Her flask was attached to her hip, for healing emergencies, of course. She wore her sturdiest boots, brown to match her other clothing and to hide the dust. Dark brown leggings, brown shorts, and a brown top under her jacket. All designed to keep the sand out. Stupid sand. Not that she'd tell anyone how much she hated the sand, but she really did hate it. Gotta stay strong.

Shifting her pack, she looked around. "Waiting for one more?"

Ignorance was bliss. Being the 'new kid' on the block Claude was blissfully unaware of what the word Sahara meant exactly. Upon receiving the text for a three day trip, Claude packed as necessary using common sense combined with the word desert, and then made her way out. Luckily a lighthouse wasn't too hard to find, and briefly the trainee wondered what kind of strangers she'd be thrown in with, and wondered if that was good practice for a mission or not. Hrm.

Upon arrival though, Claude was not expecting the sight that greeted her. She towered above all the girls who had gathered, and even worse--What the ******** was this? Girl scouts? Claude had a flat look as she stared at Noemi, Abbi, and then Sherry.

...

They were all too cute. It really was the girl scouts. Geeze. She eyed their packs and wondered if they had cookies to sell in them. Releasing a small sigh, she dipped her head in greeting to those gathered. "The name is Claude. Are you all here for the three day Sahara mission as well?"

Noemi smiled at Abbi, as she came over, only slightly clutching her bag tighter as far as her nervous habit would allow her.

"H..Hi Abbi." The girl said meekly before nodding, "M..Maybe when we see our team members? We can co..come up with a cool name." She was relieved when Sherry joined them, knowing the full huntress was WELL beyond her years for her age. In fact, Noemi looked very much to Sherry to be the leader of this expedition now that the girl was here. For her level head and her calm manner of handling things.

And then the last of their members arrived and Noemi stared in awe up at Claude. She was so tall. and looked like a pirate. But she was so tall. SO TALL.

She proceeded to hide a little behind Abbi and peek out. There was no words. No words she could say.

"Oh yeah! That's a good idea too, maybe we could like... Use the first letters of our names to form a Team Name or something?" They had a vowel with Abbi around so maybe they could come up with a really catchy name!
It was silly, but the idea of forming a bond over team names and the fact that Noemi was open to the idea made the teen feel a little better about the mission. Sure, she was still incredibly worried about the mission given its location, but she would still do what she could to keep a positive attitude about things. Or, well, as positive as her concerns would let her get.
The arrival of Sherry did wonders for whatever small morale the two younger girls had collected together.

"Hi hi Sherry! Its so nice to see you again! And on a mission! We're like mission buddies!" The girl bunny hopped to the blonde, turning back to look at Noemi a bit too.
"OK so we've got 'N' for Noemi and 'S' for Sherry and 'A' for me so... We could be San! That's kind of I-D-K or Nas? Not so good hmmm... This is gonna be tough." One finger tapped at her chin, her head tilting to one side so that her pigtails fell to that side.
"We're thinking of a team name! Since we've got a huge mission ahead of us, it needs a special name, yanno?" Already pretty chatty to begin with, Abbi was quite happy to talk all the more both for the quieter party members as well as to hopefully mask her own insecurities.

About to start giving RPG classes to the two girls, Abbi only stopped because someone had joined their group.
Someone very tall and... Mildly grumpy looking.
"Um um um! H-hi Claude! I'm Abbi Killian! Moon!" A hand was offered to the woman but retracted quickly since Noemi had chosen Abbi as her human shield. Taking this in stride, she straightened up and stared up at the new lady with a mild mixture of awe and trepidation given her stark greeting.
"Yes! We're here for the Sahara mission! We were just discussing a team name!"

"Team name seems like a good idea," she said, nodding. Anything for moral, and really, it would make the mission that much more...fun. "Hmm."

Sherry was giving the idea some very serious contemplation when they were joined by their fourth member. Oh! A new face!

Smiling up at the trainee Sherry joined in the introductions. "And I'm Sherry Greyson, Life Hunter. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Claude just continued to stare at all them. Growing slightly more skeptical by the moment. One hid behind the other, the other retracted her hand, and the other was agreeing with a team name...hm.

Were they really letting kids do this? Really? For shame.

After a moment of silence she finally spoke up, her voice even. "How about Girl Scout Troop 2C-JB, which stands for too cute jail bait--Seriously." She nodded her head towards Noemi. "You look like you're fourteen." She looked at Abbi. "You look twelve--" She then looked at Sherry. "And you look like you could possibly pass for fifteen. Maybe."

It was possibly a bit reassuring to note that there was no condescending sarcasm in her voice as she said this.

Too cute. She had called them too cute. Noemi wanted to bury her head in a hole somewhere. She wasn't cute. Sherry and Abbi, yes! Her no. Sherry and Abbi, very much so! Her no.

"Hi..No..I'm...eighteen..." She said in a very small voice, "and I'm Noemi..." She introduced herself the last of the three since she was still hiding. She made small sounds of distress.

"But..but I like Girl scout...troop......" They could be selling cookies in the Sahara! Like true Girl scouts! Mmm minty fresh cookies in the heat.

For one whole second, Abbi thought maybe Claude had a good idea with the whole girl scout troop thing. Though she had never been part of that sacred cabal, the teen did really like their cookies and all the girls gathered were pretty darn cute. Sherry could even be their Den Mother!
But it all came crashing down a moment later with not only jail bait (which, Abbi kind of technically was) and it really hit rock bottom when she decreed as looking twelve.
The teen opened her mouth and tried to say something, effective only in looking like a goldfish for a few moments before she finally sputtered out something of absolute nonsense. She tried again a second later and managed a screechy sounding, "I DON'T LOOK TWELVE."

Deeply appalled by the assessment, the girl took a breath, eyes darting side to side for a moment. Did she really look twelve? That was... That would explain so much! But it couldn't be! It just couldn't be!
"I can't look twelve! Its impossible!" Abbi said really to no one but herself, her hands having gone to vice grips around the straps of her bag. She looked down at herself, at her short stature, at her small frame. "I can't look twelve! Its... Highly unlikely!" Way to save it there, Abbi.
"I'm a C cup! I just-- I don't--" Yes, her whole world was crashing down around her. Because of one woman's blunt assessment. Welcome to the team, Claude.

Sherry blinked in suprise. Girl Scouts? Jail bait? Surely they didn't look that young. Well, maybe Abbi and Noemi, just barely, but certainly not Sherry. And- 15? Sherry was suddenly very torn. While it was a compliment to not be called her real age, she... she certainly didn't look that young. Oh, no. Claude was clearly exaggerating. She must be joking, surely.

Sherry smiled and shook her head just a little, while Noemi introduced herself.

Before Sherry could add anything the conversation though, Abbi was all over it. Or well, she was at least concerned. The type of concern that was hard to hide in such a small group. "Well, maybe not twelve..." Sherry said, trying to be helpful. Young though, Abbi did look young.

Claude just slowly shook her head. "No, you're not eighteen." She said to Noemi, and then looked at Abbi and slowly nodded her head. "Yes, you look twelve, and I'm sure they're padded." She then looked at Sherry. "Maybe she could look thirteen...but not anymore than that."

Wow...

"And they really send you kids out?" Never mind that Sherry was older than her. By four years. Claude was clearly the adult because she was the tallest and looked older. The young woman sighed.

"Alright." A pause. "Let's get this show on the road. If you're all good you'll get badges after."

I looked up Sherry's age, Grn, and I cried LOL <3
