In which trainee troubles during janitor duty lead to some patch up work at the nurse's station. spacerRennati and Larisa visit the Ryom twins working as nurse assistants after a nasty accident while cleaning.

Surprisingly, to the new trainee, things were going better than expected. There were lots of chores they had to do, cleaning in various places and whatnot. Today was no exception, the only difference was that she had her new roomie to share the burden with. The two of them had been put on dishes, which wasn't really that bad. They just had to stand in one place. Sure their hands would be all pruny but it was better for the klutz than say, mopping.
"So Larisa, what do you want to do after we finish getting our hands all pruny?" She said, a hint of humor in her voice. Their pile of clean dishes was piling up pretty quickly so Rennati figured she better start drying some. Grabbing a nearby towel, with her other hand grabbed some of the clean silverware to start drying that first. Of course, as soon as she took a step to get situated next to the counter again, her foot slipped on some water on the floor and down she went, with a few knives and forks. "Ow!" She yelled more in surprise than anything when she hit the floor...and a knife. The knife had cut into the meat of her hand, it was bleeding but it wasn't that bad. "I'm sorry, I'll get this cleaned up!" Ren told Larisa, not wanting her room-mate to have to clean up the mess her klutzy self made.

One of Larisa's biggest hopes after she'd been sorted into the Falke dorm was that she might end up with roommates who she could be friends with and so far, it seemed like that wish was coming true. Rennati was a nice girl, if a little worrying sometimes with her balance, and she was glad to have a chance to get to know her a little better during chores. It was easier not to fall into her usual nervous self around people she didn't know well when she had a task to focus on. So this was turning out to be a pretty nice start on a friendship!
"Hmm," the blonde considered the question with a light laugh, shaking water off of her hands to see just how 'pruny' they already were. "Well, why don't we-" she froze, staring in horror as Rennati began to fall and reaching out to help her just a second too late. Silverware clattered to the floor with her, something which her roomie seemed more worried about than her own fall, and Larisa shook her head as she reached down to help her up. "No no, don't worry about that, are you alright? That was quite the-"
That was when she saw the blood. Gasping, she hurriedly ushered Rennati towards and through the door. "You're bleeding! Nevermind the mess, we have to get you to the nurse!"

Playing nurse was not something that particularly interested Hwan-jae but after screwing up courier duty yesterday, the twins had been forced to handle a different chore instead. Unfortunately, this one was not nearly as flexible as running around (and forgetting to deliver things) had been and the dark haired boy sulked as they waited in the infirmary. Today had gone by slowly as there hadn't been many injuries and the two were currently just wasting time fooling around.
"Check it out, Jeong, I'm a karate master." Bored and bursting with pent up energy, Hwan tied some bandage around his forehead like a head band and began a series of mock punches and kicks. Thankfully, he didn't hit or knock anything over but it was clear he was waiting for an opponent to fight. They only had another hour of this left, what better way to spend it than this? Unaware there was work coming his way, he hopped up on one of the bed and attempted a dramatic crane pose to intimidate his brother.

"You're not a master until you beat me!" Equally bored of sitting around, Jeong-jae reached to tie a bandage around his waist like a belt. Assuming a fighting stance, he dove right in to the mock battle and jumped around the room while they wasted time. They'd only helped one person today with a splinter and that hadn't been very exciting. He had no desire to tackle a serious injury but splinters were kind of lame.
"Uh..." The door opened, catching them off guard and two girls appeared. Standing above his pretending to die brother, Jeong-jae glanced between the door and Hwan before the twins straightened up to stand beside each other perfectly in sync without even a word.
"What brings you to the infirmary?" One of the girls was holding her hand in an obvious way but it seemed best to let her first explain her injury before they did anything to it.

Rennati tried as much as she could to convince Larisa that she didn't need to go to the nurse but her room-mate would have none of it. She got pulled along the hallways towards the infirmary with a slight frown on her face. Grasping her left hand (which was bleeding) with her right, she kept pressure on it like she was used to doing whenever she cut herself. Which may or may not be a reason she wasn't allowed to help cook dinner at home.
Ushered through the door of the infirmary, Renna noticed two boys playing like one was killing the other...not just two boys, two twins. "We were..uh...washing dishes and I kinda sorta cut myself on accident. It's not that bad really..." She said looking back and forth between the twins and Larisa. Her eyes avoided meeting any of theirs, at least she wasn't going to admit it happened because she was a major klutz...

Rennati had argued nearly the whole way to the nurse's office, but Larisa simply kept pulling her along, too determined to be swayed. Once she was ready to do something, it got done, and that was twice as important when there were injuries involved! She still hadn't seen how deep the cut was, because Rennati was keeping pressure on it and asking her to stop for a second would have been silly, but the faster they got it patched up the better. At least it had been one of the clean knives, so maybe they wouldn't have to worry about infection.
As they entered the building, her thought process slowed to a halt as she took in the very unexpected scene before them. As her eyebrows shot up, the boys straightened to stand side by side in a move that, coupled with the fact that they were identical twins, was decidedly eerie in its symmetry. While Rennati filled them in with a vague recap of what had happened, she glanced around the room again.
"We're looking for the nurse." There was a chance that they were the assistants for today's shift, but she found herself hoping that wasn't the case. The bandages tied around their head and waist weren't exactly reassuring. "She needs to get her hand bandaged."

"You are in luck, Larisa, there happen to be two qualified doctors right here." He recognized the girls somewhat from that crazy night in Tragen but his memory was a little hazy after all that had happened. The real nurse had stepped out to check on someone injured at the training grounds and hadn't returned yet. But 'nurse assistant' didn't sound nearly as impressive and so Hwan undeservingly promoted the two of them up a few ranks. What? It wasn't like you needed special training to wrap up a cut.
Rennati shyly kept her eyes from meeting his as she clutched at her fingers and he wondered if she was distracted because it hurt worse than it looked. Crap, he hoped she wouldn't need any kind of herbs to soothe the pain because that kind of treatment was out of his ability to prescribe. Larisa looked on edge from the blood and he felt bad for both blondes. It sucked to be hurt and it was almost just as bad watching a friend in pain.
"Okay, give me your hand." He took the injured hand in between both of his and inspected the damage while guiding Rennati to sit on a chair. It didn't look too bad of a cut but the fact that she'd been handling dirty dishes probably wasn't great. Yeah, she was cleaning them with soap and that had to have helped but they'd disinfect it to be sure.
"Doctor Jeong, could you a bucket of hot water from the other room?" They had a few on standby for things like this and would use it with some soap to make sure the wound was clean.

"Of course, Doctor Hwan!" With a pleased smirk, Jeong-jae nodded to his brother and slipped into the other room to grab one of the buckets. Both of them had limited knowledge of first aid but could perform basic tasks such as cleaning and wrapping a small cut. Yoon-su had forced them to learn to be more responsible when she'd been born and even more so after their parents...
"Here it is!" Snapping back to the task at hand, he didn't allow himself to finish that thought- it was one he knew he'd be revisiting later tonight anyway. Plopping the bucket down in the middle of the group, he took a look at Rennati's hand and was relieved to see it didn't look like anything major. The girl seemed uncomfortable being here but at least Larisa was here to keep her in place until they were done. Part of him wondered how such a meek shy girl had gotten hurt washing dishes (one of the easiest chores) but he knew better than to bring it up right now.
"Sorry, it'll sting a bit." Applying some of the soap, he helped to lightly rub at the wound (with gloves mind you) and hoped the girl didn't have a low pain tolerance. He had no idea that she'd become used to the smaller things due to her chronic clumsiness. After cleaning up the cut, the boys used the hot water to wash off the suds and Jeong-jae reached for the bandage. It seemed excessive but was all they had.
"And there you go!" After they wrapped and secured the bandage, he nodded to Rennati before letting go of her hand. Both boys grinned at their hard work, clearly feeling satisfied that they'd managed to do something without needing the real nurse.
"Ah, are you disappointed? We can hold it a bit longer if you want~" Jeong-jae teased, hoping to get a flush on the girl's face. The twins liked to playfully flirt with many of the other soldiers but they were usually harmless in the end.
((Just a reminder, the twins will be on semi-hiatus from 8/1 to 8/5. We'll try to post back when we get back though! I wasn't sure how to continue on so if you have any ideas, feel free to try one!))

The twins certainly were a pair. But at least they stopped whatever they were doing being silly and were helping. Even if she didn't really need it in her mind. Rennati was glad they at least knew to clean the wound, it would be kind of bad if she had to tell them how to be the nurse's assistants. And they at least were trying to give her some warnings. "It's allright. It doesn't hurt that bad." She said honestly as one of the twins, Jeong-Jae she thought, cleaned the cut.
It didn't take as long as she might have thought it would take two boys to clean the cut and get it wrapped in bandage. The smiles on their faces told her they were proud of their work. And when they asked if she was disappointed and wanted them to hold her hand a bit longer she gave them the reaction they wanted, her face grew hot with a blush and she looked away. "If you really want to. I mean, I wouldn't want to deprive you of that privileged." Rennati teased right back. It was a little uncharacteristic of her, but she was kind of with friends, right? She looked to Larisa and was actually kind of glad her roommate had been adamant of her coming to the nurse. It was kind of nice to not have to bandage her cuts all by herself.

"Is that so...?" Larisa looked a little doubtful of them being as good as doctors, but it wasn't like there were any other options around, was it? Shifting uneasily, she glanced back to where Rennati clutched at her hand. She hadn't been able to see how bad it was, had just acted the moment she'd seen blood, so maybe it wasn't even a bad cut. She would just hope that was the case and be prepared to run for an instructor if it wasn't.
With nothing to do but watch as the twins ran for hot water and then began to clean her roommate's cut, Larisa reached up to begin unrolling her sleeves. It felt a little weird, since her arms hadn't entirely dried yet, but it was something to do with her hands. Maybe she should have gone on ahead while they bandaged Ren? Even she could tell now that the cut hadn't been a real emergency. She could clean up the silverware they'd left on the ground and grab her jacket and maybe by then- Oh, they were done!
"I guess you two really were qualified," She said, adding a little extra wonder to her voice just to tease. As Rennati glanced over at her, she smiled brightly. "I'm glad it wasn't as bad as I thought. I got a little too worried when I saw you were bleeding, I guess." She was beginning to realize she had an occasional habit of overreacting to things like this. But oh well, the not-crisis was over. She was about to say her goodbyes and head back for the kitchens, but it occurred to her that Rennati seemed to be enjoying the attention. If she left, Ren would probably feel like she had to too, wouldn't she?
Larisa didn't want to ruin anyone's fun, so staying it was. Feeling a little awkward about leaving a chore unfinished, she hurried to take her mind off it, searching for a conversation to start or something to do or- A spare thought struck, offering compromise, and her hand was lifting before she'd entirely thought it through to tug at one of the hanging ends of Hwan's bandage headband. It was probably as close to mimicry of the twins' habit of tugging at her hair as she would ever get with their hair so short. "Do you both have nurse duty for the rest of the day? We were nearly finished in the kitchen, so maybe we could all head that way and then do something after?"
Realizing suddenly how forward that might have sounded, she went a little red. "I-If you want to, anyway. I mean, I know it's kind of boring staying in one place all day for chores, but I guess I don't even know if you've been here all day so you might not even be bored and- Um." Stumbling to a stop before she could spout off any more pointless ramblings, she gave a weak smile and tried not to die of embarrassment.

"Of course we're qualified, what did you expect?" Taking Larisa's teasing jab in jest, Hwan puffed out his chest a little and struck a confident pose. The two girls smiled at each other as the pigtailed girl confessed her relief to Rennati and he began to pack up the things they'd used to their proper places. Although he liked to mess around, he knew better than to leave the infirmary in disarray. The clumsy girl's injury hadn't been serious but some patients arrived with pretty uncomfortable problems and didn't need the hassle of waiting for the room to be cleaned up.
"We're pretty much done here. I don't mind hanging out, it's been a pretty slow day." Which meant he was looking for some excitement so the day wouldn't feel wasted. Two cute blondes that were willing to play audience were more than welcome company! Now he just had to think of something to do while he finished his cleaning.
"I know, let's check out the barn. There's something you should see." He refused to elaborate further on the matter and only offered a cheeky smile that clearly said he was pleased with whatever his secret was. The four of them left the infirmary in good spirits now that Rennati was okay and they had fun plans to end the day with. They arrived back at the kitchens and the twins waited to see what was left to do. Hwan rolled up his sleeves and went to pitch in to speed up the process.
((Leaving it off there to have some kitchen adventures. Once we get back to my next post, I'll take us to the 'surprise'. XD ))

"Yeah it's been really boring here." Jeong-jae didn't mind sitting around in an office but it wasn't exactly interesting. They'd played with most of the supplies they could afford to mess with and had been just hanging out. Now that they were done he was glad to get out and do something else. Following the group to the kitchen, he shared a grin with Hwan about their surprise and set to work helping with basic chores but left the more complicated work to the girls. It was technically their duty for the day after all!
"What's left?" The twin asked as he looked around. The dishes remained unfinished after Rennati's incident but that seemed like a task Larisa could take over from here. He didn't want the injured blonde to stick her bandage in the water and get it gross. Snagging a broom, he began to sweep the floor and try to sweep his brother into a corner playfully just to bug him. It took a look from Larisa for him to get back to work more seriously and him covering his nose playfully in return to tease her.

Rennati smiled at the camaraderie between everyone. She knew Larisa and the twins were kind of good friends so maybe she could become friends with them at some point too! They seemed like they were a lot of fun to be around. After everything was said and done, they offered to go and help them in the kitchens. How nice were they? Ren still felt bad about freaking Larisa out and she knew she would have to try to make it up to her roommate at some point.
As they all headed back to the kitchens and Larisa continuing to do dishes and one of the twins sweeping and just generally having fun. Rennati wondered what she should do. She didn't want to get her hand all wet again, so she figured she would put up the dishes that were already clean and dry the ones that weren't all the way dry yet. "I think that's just about it?" She said as she put up the last of the dishes. "Did we get everything Larisa?" She asked her roommate.

"Something in the barn?" Larisa glanced between both twins curiously as they all headed back towards the kitchens, but it became quickly apparent that neither felt like elaborating. A surprise, then. She wondered if it was normal to be so worried about the potential chaos a surprise might bring, especially in light of who was doing the surprising. Who knew the kind of things the two of them might have planned up in their boredom? She bit her lip as she began to roll her sleeves up again, but finally convinced herself they wouldn't have anything too dangerous cooped up in there.
There wasn't much cleaning left to do, really, and it passed by quickly even with the twins playing around. She just had to make sure Rennati didn't overdo it (sure, it wasn't a bad cut, but it could always get worse) and keep the boys from goofing off too much. Blushing at the reminder of what had happened the last time she'd thought Jeong wasn't taking things seriously, the blonde quickly glanced away to find anything else that needed doing. But...it looked like they were done.
"Well, I guess that's all then. Um, what was that about the barn? It isn't anything too crazy, is it? Nothing that'll get us in trouble or hurt Rennati's hand worse or anything? Not that I think you'd do things like that on purpose, but, um, you know, I just- What is it?"
