Year 1: Forgetfulness Potion [ ] Boil-Cure Potion [ ] Wiggenweld Potion [ ]Lesson 1 Christine looked around as she prepared herself for the class she would teach. She quickly waved her wand, setting up the classroom for the incoming students. She wasn't nervous, but was instead curious as to how her new students were going to be.
"Bonjour, mes étudiants. I am Professor Christine LaJoie-Leveque, though you may refer to me as Professor LaJoie. I will be ze professor of Potions until you leave 'Ogwarts. I will ask if you forgive me if I lapse into French on occasion, though I will ensure zat all instructions necessary are in English.
"Now, Potions is an exact study of magic. Anyone can throw spells around, but it takes an intelligent mind to understand what precisely goes into brewing potions. I expect zat all of you 'ave at least a bit to even be able to attend 'ogwarts, so I expect ze best from all of you."
She tapped the board. "Now, as you all know, all potions are not made ze same. There are numerous potions zat are out there. All of zem 'ave different properties, and are not made ze same way."
Types of Potions
A brew is a liquid mixture made by steeping, soaking, or boiling solid ingredients in water. A concoction is, simply, a mixture of ingredients. A draught or draft is one serving or portion of a potion. The word draft indicates the substance is drawn from a cask rather than from a closed bottle. An elixir is a sweetened, aromatic solution used as medicine. A philtre is a potion designed to enchant or charm the drinker. A poison is a potion intended to cause harm or death to the drinker. A tincture is a benign medicine preserved in alcohol.
She turned to look at the class again. "Now, can anyone tell moi how each of ze potions on ze board are different, s'il vous plait? Oh, and please state your 'ouse and name. Zat way I can identify you in ze future." Lesson 2 Christine looked around as she prepared herself for the class she would teach. She quickly waved her wand, setting up the classroom for the incoming students. She wasn't nervous, but was confident they would perform their assignment to the best of their ability.
"Bonjour, mes étudiants. Today we shall be learning ze Forgetfulness Potion. Zis potion causes memory loss in an individual, and is a deep amber colour when completed. Also, it must be administered carefully to prevent people from 'aving major memory problems."
She tapped the board. "Now, you shall prepare ze potion on ze board. If you 'ave any questions, do not 'esitate to ask, s'il vous plaît."
Forgetfulness Potion
Add 2 drops of Lethe River Water to your cauldron Gently heat for 20 seconds Add 2 Valerian Sprigs to your cauldron Stir 3 times, clockwise Wave your wand Leave to brew and return in 95 minutes Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to the mortar Add 4 Mistletoe Berries to the mortar Crush into a medium-fine powder using the pestle Add 2 pinches of the crushed mixture to your cauldron Stir 5 times, anti-clockwise Wave your wand to complete the potion
Lesson 3 Christine looked around the classroom, making sure that it was cleaned up from last class. At least this time no one had been injured. It was known to happen sometimes, and she needed to keep an eye especially on the earlier classes to make sure that an accident didn't happen.
"Bonjour, mes étudiants. Today, we are working on ze Boil Cure Potion. Zis potion, as it's name implies, is used to cure a person drinking it of boils. It is a relatively simple potion, mais I must emphasize zat you follow ze potion directions completely."
She tapped the board. "Now, you shall prepare ze potion on ze board. If you 'ave any questions, do not 'esitate to ask, s'il vous plaît."
Boil Cure Potion
Add 6 snake fangs to the mortar. Crush into a fine powder using the pestle. Add 4 measures of the crushed fangs to your cauldron. Heat the mixture to 250 for 10 seconds. Wave your wand. Leave to brew and return in 45 minutes. Add 4 horned slugs to your cauldron. Take the cauldron off the fire before adding the next ingredient. Add 2 porcupine quills to your cauldron. Stir 5 times, clockwise. Wave your wand to complete the potion.
Lesson 4 Christine walked into the classroom, sweeping her wand across several places to make sure the place was clean before she got to the front of the class, where she wrote the next assignment on the board. Her eyes then trained toward the entrance, having already prepared everything for the class to begin. The class seemed to be going smoothly enough, with its usual mixups and mistakes. However, this was why they were in school, to learn how not to make those mistakes. That was her job, to ensure they were prepared for the rest of the world.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants! Today, we are going to be learning about ze Wiggenweld potion. Zis potion is tres potent, as it is known to be one of ze ways to cure someone of ze Draught of Living Death, a potion zat sends its drinker into a deep slumber zat can last for years. Ze Wiggenweld potion can awaken anyone from a magically-induced slumber. It is acid-green in colour once it is brewed correctly. Now, for your assignment, you shall brew the potion. Ze instructions are on ze board, and ze ingredients are in ze cupboard." She flicked her wand, and the cupboard opened to allow for students to get what they needed. She then sat back behind her desk to observe the class.
Wiggenweld Potion

Year 2: Hair-Raising Potion [ ] Girding Potion [ ] Swelling Solution [ ]Lesson 1 Christine walked into the classroom and tidied up a bit. Her class year had had some hiccups with exploding potions, but she felt confident that at least this year the students would perform admirably. If not, well, there were always cauldrons that needed to be scrubbed out after class.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. I 'ope you 'ave 'ad a wonderful summer, and zat you are ready for class. We shall start off ze year with an intéressant potion. Today we will work on ze 'air Raising Potion. Zis potion 'appens to be realtively easy, 'owever, you need to be patient to brew it." She tapped the board as she spoke, and instructions appeared.
Hair Raising Potion

Add 3 rat tails to your cauldron Stir 8 times, clockwise Add 2 chopped dandelion roots to your cauldron Stir 4 times, anti-clockwise Wave the wand to complete the potion
Lesson 2 Christine entered the classroom and gave it a good once over before making her way to the board. She deftly wrote the instructions out, and then proceeded to sit down and wait. She was interested in starting the class, since the students for the most part seemed to be doing fine.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. I 'ope zat you 'appen to be ready for your next potion. Today, we are brewing ze Girding Potion. Zis potion is used to increase one's endurance when drunk. Zis potion requires careful observation, as ze instructions state zat you 'ave to watch for color changes in ze preparation." She gestured toward the board. "You may start as soon as you 'ave read through ze instructions carefully, s'il vous plait."
Girding Potion
Add one set of fairy wings. Heat until the potion turns turquoise. Add one doxy egg. Heat until the potion turns pink. Add the toasted dragonfly thoraxes until the potion turns red. Heat until the potion turns blue. Add toasted dragonfly thoraxes until the potion turns silver. Heat the potion until it turns red. Add three doxy eggs. Add some dragonfly thoraxes. Heat the potion until it turns blue. Add three flying seahorses. Heat until the potion turns golden.
Lesson 3 Christine looked around the classroom, making sure everything was in order before the next class arrived. The messes from the previous class were cleaned up, and she was just waiting for the students to arrive. When they did, she flicked her wand toward the board to reveal the next potion they would be working on.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants! Today, we are working on ze Swelling Solution. Zis solution causes anything it touches to swell to several times it's original size. Obviously it is not drunk, 'owever, it is useful for making things larger than zey originally were. Ze potion requires vous to watch your temperature carefully, as anything too high can result in serious mishaps. Now, ze potion is on ze board, and ze ingredients needed are in ze cupboard as usual. You may now start, s'il vous plait."

Year 3: Shrinking Solution [ ] Antidote to Common Poisons [ ] Antidote to Uncommon Poisons [ ] Undetectable Poisons [ ]Lesson 1 Christine looked around as she prepared herself for the day's lesson. She made sure that the classroom was at least up to snuff, and was ready for the day before she turned to face the students. This of course would be the first lesson she would have with this class, but it certainly would not be the last.
"Bonjour, mes étudiants. I 'ope zat your summer was pleasant, and today we shall jump right into our work today. Today we will work on ze Shrinking Solution. Zis potion 'as the properties to shrink and deage its drinker. Ze potion, like many others when prepared incorrectly, can be quite poisonous." She looked at each of the students present, then flicked her wand at the board. "Now, please prepare ze potion on ze board as instructed, s'il vous plait."
Shrinking Solution
Add five sliced caterpillars. Heat the potion for 20 seconds. Shake the peeled Shrivelfig until it is ready (this is extra important, as if one tries to add it before it is ready the potion may emit noxious green gases). Add peeled Shrivelfig to the cauldron. Allow the potion to simmer for 30 minutes. Add four rat spleens to the cauldron. Add three minced daisy roots to the cauldron. Add five drops of leech juice. Add two more Shrivelfigs to the cauldron. Add one sliced caterpillar. Allow the potion to simmer for 10 minutes. Wave your wand to complete the potion.
Lesson 2 Christine prepared the classroom for the next class to come in. Last lesson had left some of the students confused, and she was determined to hopefully help some of them out today. She made sure that everything was in order before she sat back against the desk, her hands stuffed in her pockets.
"Bonjour, mes étudiants. Last lesson we worked on ze Shrinking Solution, and zis lesson we start on antidotes. For zose of you zat do not know, antidotes come in two varieties, Common and Uncommon. Common antidotes are used for poisons zat we run across often, and 'appen to be simple in nature. Uncommon antidotes are for ze poisons we run across less often, or are complex in nature. Today we shall be brewing ze Antidote to Common Poisons." She flicked her wand lazily at the board and then looked over the students expectantly. "Now, please prepare ze potion on ze board as instructed, s'il vous plait. If you need any 'elp, please do not 'esitate to ask for it."
Antidote to Common Poisons
Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar Crush into a very fine powder using the pestle Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to your cauldron Heat to a medium temperature for 5 seconds Wave your wand Leave to brew and return in 40 minutes. Add 1 pinch of Unicorn Horns to your cauldron Stir 2 times, clockwise Add 2 Mistletoe Berries to your cauldron Stir 2 times, anti-clockwise Wave the wand to complete the potion.
Lesson 4 Christine set the potions classroom up to take notes this class, as there wasn't anything practical for the students to work on. However, she hoped that many of them would take to heart the lessons in the classwork. Nodding in satisfaction, she waited for the students to come in for class, flicking her wand at the board as she leaned against her desk.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants! Today, if you 'avent noticed, zere is no cauldrons out, and ze supplies cabinet is closed for the day. Zat is because ze lesson today shall be on Undetectable Poisons. I would suggest zat, if you wish to become professionals in potions, you pay close attention to ze class, as zis is a very important subject in ze field.
"As you may know, undetectable potions cannot be detected by any known means, muggle or magical. Zey can only be detected by ze way zat zey interact with ze victims of the poison. Many of ze symptoms can pinpoint exactly what kind of poison was used, and 'ow long before zey 'appen to surface. Ze best way to counteract an undetectable poison is to administer a bezoar in time for an antidote to be either concocted or administered. If done successfully within ze first few minutes symptoms 'appen to appear, zere is a high percentage of survival. Any longer, and zere may be unpleasant lasting effects of said poisons, up to and including death.
"Now, I know I do not normally assign essays in class, mais I would like for each of you to research and write an essay on an undetectable poison, it's effects, and ze ways to counter said poison. I would like zese to be on my desk no later zan next class. Ze essay must be 18 inches in length. As soon as you 'ave copied down ze information necessary, you may go."

Year 4: Amortencia [ ] Hiccoughing Solution [ ] Wit-Sharpening Potion [ ]Lesson 1 Christine looked around as she prepared herself for the class she would have with these students. She straightened up the classroom and ensured that the potion stores were stocked for the day. Afterward, she made sure that the lesson was ready and waited for the students to come into class.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. I 'ope zat your summer was uneventful, but regardless of what may 'ave 'appened, we shall proceed onto ze topic of ze day. We are going to work on ze potion Amortencia. For zose zat are unfamiliar with ze potion, it is a powerful love potion, able to induce a near obsessive streak with ze one zat consumes it for ze object of their infatuation. It 'as a distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen, and smells like what someone is most attracted to." She looked around the students sternly as she spoke, and her gaze was hard as she observed them. "We shall be brewing zis potion today, 'owever, I do not wish to see any of you attempting to use zis on each other. It is dangerous, and must be used in controlled settings, otherwise the result may not be to your liking." She flicked her wand at the board, where instructions appeared. "Start work on zis potion, and if you need any assistance, do not hesitate to ask, s'il vous plait."

Add 5 pinches of lovage to your cauldron Add a pinch of silverweed to your cauldron Stir 5 times, anti-clockwise Wave the wand to complete the potion
Lesson 2 Christine straightened up the last of the classroom before settling her gaze around one final time the classroom. One of these days, she was going to have to get someone into the dungeons to scrub cauldrons or something, What one student made had congealed into something indistinguishable from what they were supposed to make, and she had to scrub it out herself. Tres terrible!
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. Last lesson we learned about and made Amortencia. Zis lesson, we shall focus on another potion, ze 'Iccouphing Solution." She cocked an eyebrow, knowing that there were probably going to be sniggers about this lesson. "I can already 'ear complaints about zis potion now. ''Ow is zis even useful, Madame Professeur?' 'Ave you ever needed to 'ave 'iccups to do a certain task? Or, better yet, 'ow do you know zere is not a medical reason zis particular potion is useful? Zat is why we are learning zis solution today" She flicked her wand at the board, where instructions appeared. "Start work on zis potion, and if you need any assistance, do not 'esitate to ask, s'il vous plait."

Please make sure zat you are prepared for ze OWLS you will be 'aving zis year, as I expect zat you shall pass with at ze very least E's to get into zis class next year. Well, the last potion had been difficult, and this one was no exception. Hopefully people followed the instructions that she put on the board. She sat down and waited for people to come in.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. Last lesson we learned how to brew ze Draught of Peace. Zis lesson, we shall focus on ze Strengthening Solution. It is a difficult potion to master, and can become a congealed mess if incorrectly brewed. As ze name suggests, it increases your strength for a period of time." Year 6: Everlasting Elixirs [ ] Felix Felicis [ ] Draught of Living Death [ ] Elixir to Induce Euphoria [ ]Lesson 1 Christine looked around as she prepared herself for class. She had these students before and she knew what to expect from them. They had passed the OWL for this course, and thus knew what they were doing. She hoped that they would continue to excel in this class.
"Bonjour, mes etudiants. Welcome back to class. Zis year we shall proceed onto more complex potions and the properties of zem. I expect zat each of you are prepared to work 'ard and continue to excel in zis class, as you 'ave always done." She looked around, making sure that each student was paying attention. "Now, ze topic for ze day is Everlasting Elixirs. Everlasting Elixirs are a type of potion with the effect to either never run out of potion or to work forever. This is accomplished using a spell, and total concentration is required when performing the proper movements and saying the incantation. A mistake in either case can lead to dire consequences." She gestured toward the cauldrons set up in the front. "Now most of ze time, you know zat we do not usually 'ave wandwork in zis class, but zis is a required skill to 'ave if you wish to pass your NEWTs next year." She picked up her wand and gestured over the first one with a circular motion. "Ze spell is Aeternum, and the wand movement is circular. Please come up one at a time and take a dose of each. Zese are merely some antidotes zat we shall practice on trying to extend ze length of zer actions. Practice on zese, and deposit zem on ze desk for me to examine at ze end of class."
