It had been years since he went to college and in truth, Sarras, now Squire of the Cosmos, did not miss it in the least. Being forced to room with someone else and having to not only socialize with them but live with them was something he was never fond of, especially given his more reclusive nature. Oh, Richard found the experience enlightening and enjoyable, but it was also likely that he had gratuitous amounts of intercourse with all of his roommates and their girlsfriends, so it was no surprise that he'd enjoy such an experience. He was always quick to seclude himself from others, not because he was shy, but because he simply wanted nothing to do with anyone.
Even before the mess that was the treasure hunt at Mistral, Sarras preferred to work on his own. It wasn't that he had anything against his fellow knights prior to the event, and truly, even afterwards, his anger could be narrowed down to a small handful, but that was just how Sarras was. He was the type of man that simply had a mission and preferred to work on that mission alone, and the idea of having to watch over others, or risk losing them, was simply not on his list of things he wanted to do. He was on a mission to find the Negaverse officer named Buddingtonite, and unless someone had knowledge on where he might find this Negaverse general, they were nothing but unnecessary baggage to him...
He had hoped that the summer months would have been there had been a smaller crowd to deal with on DCU campus, but he had miscalculated, as well as underestimated just how many students enrolled for the summer courses. Why he was even near the university was a question he couldn't quite answer, except that, perhaps, he would be there, somewhere, looking to prey on the stupid youngsters that now cluttered the school grounds, drinking heavily and chanting along to some stupid fraternity oath. He was hoping to feel a strong Chaos aura among the crowd, but all he could feel was an Order aura... one that wasn't himself.
He wouldn't be alone for long. He let out a groan, as he sought higher ground away from the aura. "Great."Songstress Kitsune Wasn't sure where the two should meet, but here we go! Let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Mimisbrunnr made it something of a personal mission to patrol around educational institutions. Alright, maybe she was biased because it was her job (and because Google indicated that her name came from the Norse well of knowledge, so wondrous that Odin himself had traded an eye for access to its waters) but she absolutely refused ot see the sacred pursuit of Knowledge despoiled by Chaos!
And also, well, there wasn't often a ton of Chaos aorund schools and she was scared. She was scared of everything after the horrible tragedy at Mistral, she relived it in her dreams and she saw bodies in shadows these days. So the idea of being involved in actual combat was terrifying to her.
But she could feel another Knight's aura, and she let out a tiny surprised gasp, running towards it. The colors were familiar, with the vague glances she could get of the uniform, and -- yes!
"Sarras!" She called. "Sarras, is that you?"

He had hoped to get away without being seen, but it would figure that it'd be an impossible feat. Given his attire and the ability to track auras, it seemed an impossible feat, as the call of his name indicated that he had failed in his attempt to escape. He let out a sigh, and hoped that his expression revealed more of his forced politeness that he was raised to put forth, and not so much the 'please kill me' groan that he uttered to himself mentally.
However, his expression changed to surprise when he recognized the voice, and his mind tried to pull him back into that dark place, to Mistral's wonder, but he fought it back. If only because the thought of appearing weak or embarrassing himself in front of another knight. Especially one that was there... at least, he recalled her presence towards the end, when he wasn't quite in his best mood.
"Yeah, it's me. Who else would I be?" He asked in return, giving up his retreat and racking his brain on trying to remember exactly who she was. A Mercury knight, obviously, and thankfully, not Mistral. But something with an M. He wasn't quite in the mood to remember most names and faces back then, and that was coming to bite him in the butt hard. "Mimis.... Mimisbun? Something Norse, right? Sorry, I'm terrible with names..."
That wasn't entirely true. He knew the names of all of the knights that died on Mistral...

Mimisbrunnr shrugged. "Another Cosmos Knight with an equally fantastically sparkly outfit? Seriously, I'm jealous of you guys, you're all so colorful." (Though if she thought too hard about Cosmos she remembered Cove and Degrasse and blood spatter and death in the sterile, cold halls of Mistral. She remembered Mercury stealing two of Cosmos's bright, shining stars, and she hated herself a little.)
"Mimisbrunnr," she said, and her voice was a little less enthusiastic. "I, uh, don't blame you for forgetting. Everybody's emotions were running kinda high." She pressed her hands together and fiddled with her thumbs, suddenly feeling terrible. Sarras likely wouldn't want to deal with anyone associated with the Mistral mess, but...
"How are you doing? After...all that, on Mercury."

He wasn't sure what was so damn special about Cosmos knights and why others seemed to fawn over the idea of them. Did it truly matter, or was everyone simply insane to like the outfit he felt he was forced to wear each time he powered up? Though, he had to admire the way Mimisbrunnr put it. "Colorful. Right. Well, I appreciate it, but there's nothin' to be jealous for, I assure you."
He noticed how her voice changed pitch and seemed to take a more sullen tone, and he wondered if it was for the same reason why he often went out of his way to avoid other knights. He tried to remember what had occurred that night, sans his own experiences, but his memory was fuzzy and there were parts he tried to keep locked away, or else he'd risk his emotions taking over. He wasn't an emotional wreck, not like Richard. He was strong. He could overcome this!
"Doing well. Alive, apparently appeased Cosmos or whoever and got an upgrade." He looked down at himself and sneered, before looking back at Mimisbrunnr. "Though now I at least have a purpose to wear this ridiculous outfit. How about you? How are you holding up?"

Mimisbrunnr frowned, slightly. How was she doing? "Not well," she admitted, quietly, because honesty seemed the best policy in the face of someone who had seen as bad as - worse than - she had. "Better than some people, I guess. My - my girlfriend isn't one of us, as far as I know, but I told her everything and...I have someone to talk to, at least." She twiddled her thumbs a little. "I still don't know what I'm doing, though."
It must be nice to have a purpose, she wanted to say, but she couldn't think of a way to say it without sounding petulant or angry. And she wasn't, she was just...frustrated. And she felt so, so alone, even if she did have Marie. Just bewcause her girlfriend knew didn't mean she really understood.

He had suspected much, but to hear her openly admit to not doing well didn't really help either. Sarras could not stop the frown from weighing down his features once more, and it would have taken a miracle to bring a smile to his face any time soon, he reckoned. He spat, though it wasn't directed at Mimisbrunnr, but instead the situation in general. "If anyone's doing well after that, then they're a liar, or they're already emotionally dead on the inside."
It was silly to think in such extremes and he knew he would be hurting people's feelings, but what did he care? It was simply how he felt. People had walked away from the endeavor without a care in the world or a simple 'people die, deal with it' mentality, and those people weren't the type of people that Sarras would willingly associate himself with. Would Mimisbrunnr? If so, that was her choice, and before he could seek to insult her more, he apologized. "Guess that was a bit harsh of me to say... sorry. I'm glad you have someone to talk to, at least. More than some of us."
Which wasn't true for himself. He had Richard he could talk to, but he didn't want to make matters worse for him. If he knew he was involved in this bullshit war, he'd demand he'd be locked up in the loony bin with him!
"You'll find something worth doing, though. Eventually. Maybe you can find trinkets that are less likely to cause death and permanent emotional trauma so good knights like us don't have to go through that crap again."
Was he really being too hard on Mistral? Perhaps, but he didn't regret a single second of it. "You'll find something worth fighting for... revenge isn't all that great and after I'm done, would I even be useful to this whole knight cause? Would anyone even accept me with the blood of that general on my hands?" Then he laughed, shaking his head as he did so. "Maybe. They accept knights that allow other knights to die, so why not a knight that kills what we're suppose to kill?"
He was rambling, but he really, really needed someone to talk to.

Oh, no. It was obvious that there was far more going on with Sarras than he had so far opened up about - more than the disaster at Mistral, more than simply seeing his fellows die because another Knight didn't know her Wonder well enough. Something deeper and older and far, far more personal. And it had to do wth the Negaverse.
"I don't think there are any death traps at my Wonder. Just lots of books and a mulo. A, um, an ancestral ghost," she corrected herself into English. "And a well, which I guess you could maybe push somebody in, it's pretty deep."
That was morbid.
"Sarras," she began, to steer herself way from that train of thought, "hat are you even seeking revenge for? What's worth bloodying your hands?"

He knew it'd only be a matter of time before he'd expose more about himself than he was willing, but he couldn't really blame Mimisbrunnr for her curiosity. She may not have been on the same floor as him and Falias, but she had suffered just as much as they had. So, Mimisbrunnr, Falias, Hvergelmir... he'd expose himself to them.
"Well, at least you know about your wonder. I haven't visited mine, and honestly, I almost don't want to." He cringed at the thought, wondering what kind of death traps would await him there and if it would put him on the same level of grave misfortune as the knight he despised the most. For now, he simply didn't care enough. He couldn't help but grin slightly at her statement, though he was thankful she explained what the hell a mulo was, because it was news to him. "I dunno... depending on how deep it was, could be gruesome in and of itself. The waitin' for the sudden impact, then the possibility it won't kill you instantly. Sucks..."
She then asked a very personal question, and given his own statement, it physically hurt him to think about it. At least... she had died instantly, he reminded himself. "My mother's life. And my brother's sanity... if they're not worth bloodying my hands for, then I don't know what is. Negaverse took my mother from me in front of my brother, and when I find him, I'll make sure he suffers a fate far worse than anythin' our knights did on Mistral."
He was done with this. He didn't really want to tell her that, but... he had a feeling she'd understand. And if she didn't, then she wasn't worth convincing. He turned to leave, hoping that he'd run into a youma to release his aggression on. "Look, I'm gonna go. Take care of yourself..."Songstress Kitsune Good place to start wrapping up!

Mimisbrunnr nodded solemnly. "I asked Hver to come with me, the first time I went, because I was so scared, and I thought...I thought if there were two of us, maybe we'd...I dunno." She stared down at her hands, folding them together and scuffing a foot on the ground. Saying it out loud, it sounded foolish - she was scared her Wonder might be dangerous, so she put someone else in danger with her. Good job, Mimis, really clever, that. She flinched, a little, at the thought of actually throwing someone into her well. God, that sounded gruesome, and she was pretty sure it wouldn't help clear the water.
And then he explained why he was so angry, what he was seeking revenge for, and her heart dropped into her shoes.
"Oh, Sarras," she said, and for a moment she seriously considered pulling the Cosmos Squire into a hug. If there was anything worth getting revenge for...it was that. "I," she didn't want to condone murder or revenge, but wow, if someone murdered her mother - or worse, murdered Marie, there would not be a force in the universe that could stop her from tearing them apart.
"Good luck. I'll - I'll see you around," she said, and she gave him a tiny, weak little wave, turning to go herself.
