Name: Caitlin [ kate-lin ] Kanelos
Nickname: Cat, Kitty-cat, or any variation there of, she's heard them all, and really around only two or three people have ever gotten away with the nicknames outside her immediate family. Catelyn--"Cat-lin", however, she'll accept with guilty pleasure.
Age: 23
Birthday: July 21
Sign: Cancer-Leo cusp
Gemstone: Ruby
Blood Type: Type B Negative
Fav. Food: Chocolate and peanut-butter dipped apples. Or somehow combined together.
Hated Food: Seafood. All seafood. She can't stand the smell, and complains that most is too chewy. Won't hear arguments against otherwise, regardless of what's on the plate. She actually doesn't have that much of an issue with it, just the texture. Makes it out to be a bigger deal than it is.
School: Attended Medowview, then DCU, before transferring to a school in NYC where she continued to pursue her art history--and subsequently Museum Studies--interests. Moved back to DC for an Assistant Registrar position in one of the city's museums while she begins to work on her master's for Art History--she's got her eye set on a PhD program, and dreams of a job as a curator.
Hobbies:
____Judo xxxxxCaitlin has always been a rather temperamental girl. Being a very young, very temperamental Caitlin without proper means to refocus her aggression, her family decided she would take the same marital arts classes her elder sisters were attending. It was slow going at first, but the ramifications were astronomical in her new found coping mechanisms and physical endeavors. It has turned into a large part of her life growing up, and she still continues with the lessons and frequent visits to dojos. She's dabbled in lessons for other styles, and is debating what she might like to pursue further--the idea of expanding her self-defense prospects is quite appealing regardless of how exactly she goes about it. Caitlin had participated in a variety of competitions growing up, and a little collection of trophies she's still proud of--even if the majority were from when she was younger--are on unashamed display within her living-room.
____Research xxxxxSome people enjoy history. Some people really enjoy history. Then there's Caitlin. Caitlin lives, breaths, sleeps, eats historical documents and artifacts. Physical copies she can hold within her hands, to the digital libraries she can browse through her collection of gadgets, she's not picky how exactly she comes across her newest source of study and information. You'll usually find her stuck somewhere during the Italian and Northern Renaissance if anyone really wanted to pursue her particular interests, but she's equally fascinated by older cultures as well. Largely, the actual research portion of her learning experiences that keep her so enthralled. She loves the process of tracking down sources, comparing references, and just the general learning. While her attention span might not last as long with other subjects as they do with historical accounts, she really does still find enjoyment in researching random topics via her various internet sources. As it is, anyone feeling witty enough to try and suggest she wishes she was born in an earlier era with her nose in such a book, will get a strong lecture about the conveniences of modern technology. Although some cultures did treat women better in ye ole days, in some respects. Some. Not many. She's generally ok with the era she's living in.
____Direct TV xxxxxIf she's not doing legitimate real-world research, she's researching something about some show or movie she watched on her ever lovely Direct TV. Complete with HBO. And Starz. And a lovely package of other luxury viewing channels. She's an addict to a few series as it is, and has happily taken up a few book series after seeing some of the shows--Game of Thrones has a particular place in her heart. Really though, if you can't find Caitlin in a gym, by a race track, or at a library or museum? You'll find her at home, curled up in front of her TV, junk food propped up on the table, devouring with untold amounts of guilty pleasure the wonderful, decadent, glistening amounts of p--- plot. Plot. She's there for the plot. She swears.
____Speed Junkie xxxxxAn old, die-hard addiction she can't quite convince herself to quit. Once, this habit played a far larger role in her life when she was younger, but she'd tried more than once to kick the habit. Unfortunately, Caitlin has yet to let go of everything. She'll try to appease herself with thrill rides and horror flicks galore--usually a few times a week if she can, just to get some adrenaline pumping on cheap scares. Usually those do the trick, and she's content to go back to her simpler life without the rushing she'll sometimes wish she had. Her favorite pass-times though deal with speed for a reason. Living vicariously through racers is typical--she's always been easy to find at a race track, especially if motorcycles are involved--but sometimes? If she's feeling particularly "nostalgic" or needing a real "fix," she'll push her car's limits on some of the windier roads further from the city. Not the smartest tactics, she'll admit, but god is it fun.
Virtues:
____Bleeding Heart Extraordinaire xxxxxTo the rest of the world's definition, Caitlin is empathetic. In her own definition, she's a spineless sap, and she's quite sick of it. But despite all her attempts at being a stiff-upper-lip, stern, taciturn, proper business-minded woman (as she views the concept) she's... a bleeding heart of a girl who wants to help the people around her however she can. Puppy dog eyes are, without a doubt, super effective when dealing with Caitlin, but likely if you've breathed a single sigh of discontent around her? Even slightly? She'll have already started piling together comfort food, movies, or dragging you around shopping--anything to hopefully start cheering you back up. Never you mind about whatever snooping or attempted prying she has to do to help fix your problems. She's a sap. She wants to help everyone and everything and she hates that she can't say no--even when she's the one initiating this sense of "must assist." It all comes down to how she just pictures other people she cares for more in their place, thinks of how she'd be in their shoes... and caves. Big time.
____Pinky-Promise for Tomorrow xxxxxCaitlin falls for people around her, hard and fast. She associates with and attaches to people extremely quickly, and very quickly puts herself into positions where she can assist them however possible--assuming they'll accept her help without much fuss, anyways. And really? She's good for it. Give her a time and a date, and she'll be there come hell or high water. Caitlin is dependability and responsibility personified, and even if her temper and words get sharp, she won't let that keep her from fulfilling a promise. And don't believe her when she says she'll be sending you the bill for whatever--she goes Dutch more often than not. The idea of burdening someone else with something might as well be blasphemous in her book, but it won't stop her from threatening people with dropping large tasks on their heads.
____Persistence and Adrenaline Drive xxxxxEveryone has their price for happiness. Caitlin's just happens to run pretty close to the price of frequent ER visits if she's not careful. She's a woman who specifically seeks stressful situations for not only the adrenaline kicks, but just the fact she works best under that pressure in her own mind. There's no time to slack off, no time to waste, and really? It's where she finds most of her persistence pays off. Goal-orientated to the max, she finds her goal and latches on, and with her temper it'll take more than an equal temper or stubborn streak to deter her. She might still snap at people during her preferred stressful motivation, but she gets her job done. And then hops right back into more stress because really? To her it is home. Stress related illnesses be damned, she'll bounce back by sheer willpower if she has her way.
Flaws:
____Block the Bleeding Heart with Ice xxxxxThere is a very strange complex Caitlin lives by. Showing tender emotions is a weakness to her, in relation to career situations, and it's formed a rather elaborate picture in her head of what a proper, successful businesswoman should look like. She wants to be known as a cold-hearted b***h, as she views her rather emotional tendencies to hinder her career and progress in life. Half the issue is that this is not remotely true in her case, but it's an ideal she's set for herself she refuses to let go. This does mean someone can expect her to curse a lot while helping them, and for her to very quickly switch from motherly to down-right bitchy and nasty. The flip-flopping has driven plenty of wedges into Caitlin's professional and personal connections, but all of the downfalls translate in her mind as results of her showing what she thinks is a weaker side of herself. Not, in fact, the result of turning off that nicer side for a while. It's all a large mess she's yet to come to terms with, and all her own attempts at reaching an ideal, one that is.... frankly not suitable for her.
____Roaring Volcano xxxxxYeah that taciturn ideal? Yeah that doesn't work for her for a multitude of reasons, one of the largest being she can't keep a lid on her temper. Despite her intentionally seeking out stressful situations, she still snaps at everyone around her about how crazy things are, and by the Nine let her do her work, get out of her way. She does have a juvie record of lashing out a bit too much as a child and causing property damage, which was part of why she even got into the self-discipline of Judo in the first place. These days she's more vocal and loud than actually damaging anything--or anyone--hers is a temper that needs to just go and go until its run its course, then hopefully she can come back and try to pick up some of the pieces of whatever it is she's just exploded. She usually knows a "big one" is coming by a distinct tightening in her chest that she's learned to identify throughout her life as the "get out now or it'll explode" signal, and does try to excuse herself from situations peaceful before it happens to try and go through relaxing techniques elsewhere briefly... unfortunately when that doesn't work, the explosion comes on full force.
____Some Wounds Don't Heal xxxxxThere are multiple reasons Caitlin would love to lock her heart in ice. The chief one being that while she attaches to people very quickly, it opens her up to very painful separations. She's already experienced multiple cases of such injuries, and really? She's not someone who can recover quickly--if ever--from social slights or actual blow-out fallouts. She keeps telling herself she won't get so invested again, that she'll keep her distance from people and projects and not let it get so freaking personal... but she keeps falling into the same traps, same holes, and is only left blaming herself when the cuts come. That being said, Caitlin can hold one hell of a grudge, and she's not afraid to let people hear about it. Letting go? Kind words over time can do wonders when dealing with Caitlin, and are the same lures less than savory people have used to keep pulling her back into helping them in their never-ending self-destructive cycles. Not even she is sure if she has a limit to how often she can repeat the same mistakes.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: #547798 Stormy dark blue, darker sections running more into navy, highlights more into the green. Thick lashes means she rarely feels the need to use mascara, but some eyeliner doesn't hurt. [ Really just look at her. ] Hair: b71f1f Fire-red and curly as you please, she's allowed it to grow to around mid-back, if only because going shorter means even tighter curls, and she has long decided she just... cannot handle that. Usually keeps her hair up in a ponytail or partial bun, but there's always the random fly-aways around her face and dangling curls in front of her ears that just will. Not. Stay. Back. Face: #EAD7D0 She has a heavy dose of freckles across her cheeks, nose, and around her face. They spread down her neck and shoulders, and across her chest. Used to go heavy on the concealer growing up, but she's since embraced her skin as-is.
Clothes: Caitlin barely reaches 5', just over 4'11". Oversized tops and petite leggins or jeggings are perhaps some of the most common place outfits for her if only because it's so freaking easy to find clothes like that for cheap. She likes her long tops and cinching with belts, or flat-out dresses with the leggings or high stockings. She likes simple, practical, and she refuses to admit loves the feeling of being smothering in layers and bundles of cloth. Infinity scarves are effectively her favorite thing. As are mens' sweatshirts. Pallet wise, she keeps to earthy tones for the majority, but can't help but love jeweled tones in accessories. Footwear? She likes heels. She needs the inches.

Knight Title xxxxxKrakatoa Page
Challenge xxxxxDon't push me.
Uniform
Top xxxxx[ Inspiration: .jpg]Dress 1 or 5, middle woman, middle woman. Doric chiton, again. ] A long chiton, Doric style. Predominantly off-white, borders along the bottom of the overfold and edges of the cloth are in red and gold. Any other colors on the garment are the same. The pins on her shoulder bear the symbol of Mars. [ Please no mass overkill of the Martian symbol in the borders or accents! I can look for other ideas if necessary. ] Bottoms xxxxxBottom of the dress above, reaching to her ankles. Belt xxxxxA cinch of gold or brown leather around her middle. Pattern similar to the one on her dress? Shoes xxxxxSimple flat sandals or similarly styled boots, brown leather. Artistic licence welcomed, but should follow the open-toed ancient style. Accessories xxxxxI'd like her hair to be pulled up--there are multiple images above of different accessories women would use when putting their hair up, so I'm open to discussion on exactly what style and how to go with this! Doesn't have to be all her hair up, or can be. Again, open for discussion. Other accessories would need to be kept simple--though I would like her to be wearing gold and ruby earrings. Weapon
Page__ xxxxx xxxxxA simple incense brazier of copper and brass. The symbol of Mars can be seen here and there, smoke drifting out the top of the brazier. Up for discussing the exact look with the artist! Best Krakatoa can do is swing the thing at someone's head. The incense uses frankincense--a sweet, lemon-pine, "church" scent.
Squire__ xxxxxCross between this Chinese incense burner due to the more "fire"/"volcano" look it reminds me of, and these incense burners. Again, open to discussing the exact look with the artist. Gold, brass, and copper, the incense burner emits smoke as it swings, design inspired by the volcano Krakatoa. The incense uses frankincense--a sweet, lemon-pine, "church" scent--however takes on a more sulfur scent when channeling her magic.
Knight__ xxxxxThe most ornate volcano-themed incense brazier ever seen. Hanging from a staff now? Or from chains she holds. Smoke flows even more freely from the brazier, still using the frankincense--a sweet, lemon-pine, "church" scent, that still takes on a more sulfur scent when her magic is used.
Magic
Squire__ xxxxxWhen Krakatoa focuses her magic, the smoke of her incense brazier increases, rolling into thick plumes that seem to form a viscous substance that sinks through the brazier and to the ground. Those within the six foot radius of Krakatoa formed by the thick smoke are judged on their intent at that moment--if they are intent on fighting or somehow intent on conflict within that radius, the brazier seems to shutter and an exploding sound can be heard coming from the brazier itself. All those within the six foot radius of Krakatoa are inflicted with a strong burning sensation across their exposed skin--the heat of exploding air from a volcano, though the worst someone could get physically form the magic would be a strong sunburn--blisters only if they endured the full extent and time limit of her magic. Krakatoa only has a magic pool of 30 seconds, and the burning sensation lasts for as long as Krakatoa can channel her magic--or if someone steps outside the radius. The judgement of Krakatoa is black and white only, and thusly only those truly intent on conflict** are affected by her magic, regardless of alignment.
Knight__ xxxxxWhen Krakatoa focuses her magic, the smoke of her incense brazier increases, rolling into thick plumes that seem to form a viscous substance that sinks through the brazier and to the ground. Those within the six foot radius of Krakatoa formed by the thick smoke are judged on their intent at that moment--if they are intent on fighting or somehow intent on conflict within that radius, the brazier seems to shutter and an exploding sound can be heard coming from the brazier itself, one that is strong enough to rattle the very ground within the six foot radius. All those within the six foot radius of Krakatoa are inflicted with an even stronger burning sensation across their exposed skin, and the sensation of being struck by burning... rocks?--the heat of exploding air and debris from a volcano. If someone does not move away from the affected area quickly, or covers their exposed skin somehow, they will feel as if they are suffering 2nd degree burns. However, should they experience 75% or more of Krakatoa constantly channeling her magic (around 22 seconds) then the 2nd degree burns will become real (This can be plotted the player(s) and/or warning notes will be left in my posts when Krakatoa's about to hit that limit so they can move their characters if they don't want the burns). Krakatoa still only has a magic pool of 30 seconds, and the burning sensation lasts for as long as Krakatoa can channel her magic--or if someone steps outside the radius. The judgement of Krakatoa is black and white only, and thusly only those truly intent on conflict** are affected by her magic, regardless of alignment.
** Intent on Conflict ** For the use of Krakatoa's magic, someone is described as "intent on conflict" when . . . They have clearly made the conscious, free-will decision to fight an opponent. They must have made some move to signify they are intent, at some point in the near future of the fight, to inflict harm on someone else. This can be anything from throwing a punch, to holding up their weapon as if to attack. They are using magic with an offensive or somehow hazardous (to persons or environment, physical or mental) effect. Someone is not described as "intent on conflict" when . . . They are under the effects of magic or otherwise status effect to attack someone else. That is no longer considered an act of "conscious, free-will." They are in a defensive position, even if they are using a weapon to do so. They are using a buff or healing magic.
The Summon
Summoned Creature xxxxxA large lioness, standing at over four and a half feet tall, and thirteen feet from nose to tail. The lioness herself, though covered in a course golden fur, seems to be composed of lava from within. Evidence of such can be seen along the main joints of the beast, for as the lion moves, the fur and skin cracks, bits of bright red lava pooling out slowly before cooling rapidly into black lava, then into course golden fur once more. Consequently, the lioness is incredibly warm, though does not seem capable of burning anyone--or anything--in her summoned state. Though she does seem to leave steaming footprints in cold or rainy weather and environments. Summoned's Ability xxxxxWhen urged by Krakatoa, the lioness lets out a mighty roar, a thunderous afair. Those within a ten foot radius of the lioness might tremble at the sound as they feel their confident and combative spirits weaken and fade after the roar. The roar of the lioness heavily diminishes the will to fight, but the effect only lasts for around 15 seconds before those who were affected begin to feel their resolve to fight return once more.

Hey Kae! Overall, I think Caitlin looks good - civ side is great, and I think the conflict between who she is and who she wants to be is really fun! Overall, your weapon design is different enough from Glitnir's (the other Mars Knight with scales) to be acceptable -- so if you want to use that, you're good! However, if you'd prefer to avoid overlap totally then option B is of course fine too! You seem to have sort of trailed off on the magic effects, however -- you have "For all those who are instead still, or " hanging at the end of her Squire magic. So I'll ask -- what happens if the people around her are not, in fact, intent on conflict? Also, what counts as "intent on conflict"? If someone is fighting reluctantly -- i.e. feels pressured for whatever reason into fighting, but would prefer not to -- would that count? Fiddly stuff, really, overall I really like her! Quote me with changes or questions and I'll be back!

>> Look how productive at work I can be.... -shot-
Decided to go with option B officially for her weapon :3 I feel like it fits her theme better than the scales, going along with the volcano stuff <3
....I have no idea where the hell I was going with that trail, so yeah that's gone.
Included a separate section of what's defined as "intent on conflict" for her magic. If I need to clarify anything further, lemme know! I was actually struggling for a while for how to word anything so hope it makes sense e__e;;;; I do like the idea that regardless of someone's alignment, if they weren't intent on hurting someone--defending's ok, that's a whole other ballgame--that they'd be spared, regardless of Krakatoa's own opinions on the matter. So long as the person who's being "forced"--non-magically--hasn't actually taken up an offensive stance/action while in Krakatoa's range, they'd be fine! But once they've crossed that line.... burns ahead 8<
Again though, if you want me to clarify anything else, lemme know! :3

Okay, this all looks good and makes perfect sense with the clarifications!
Let me know when you fill in Summon stuff and I'll give that a look too, since I see you have space for it now!

...I forgot I had that section there for the summon 8'D;;;
I know WHAT I want her summon to be, but I'm a tad unsure how to do go about a defensive magic-- or at least I assume her summon should be defensive since her magic's offensive???
[/ how to summons idefk ]
I'd originally thought it'd be cool if the lioness could roar and the ground would tremble/trip people up ala earthquake but that doesn't quit fit Mars themes.
