Gathering was something Mykanos was well accustomed to. Having grown up in the forested mountains of Dauper, the tall gent had no issues when it came to handling ripened produce. On this very day, on the few occasions he ventured from the solitude of his home far from society, to try taking up work with those further below. Hunting season was going through its next season, and he hadn't made as big a bounty as he'd like, what with living on his own now. Times were harder with all his family dead. Like a wolf, he was more used to working in a pack, and alone he just barely scraped by.
But he wasn't one to complain. Luckily he was able to find decent work offers in the hustling bustling towns, choosing one that seemed to pay decently and was right up his alley familiarity wise: Cherry picking. He could do that. Already dressed in garb that was both comfortable and easy to work in, upon signing up to assist with the harvesting, Mykanos was thrust into the fields to get started right away! Placid as he was, the graceful blonde went with the flow, and joined with the others that were eagerly plucking the ruby fruits.
He took his time, though, carefully inspecting the ones he retrieved, before placing them into the basket he kept settle on a hip. The day was quite fine, and the tree's were oh so very lovely.. he couldn't help but enjoy himself, while others chattered away with one another and raced to get their fill as fast as possible.

Who would've thought that this could be so hard? The damn trees were too tall! A dark haired teen glared up at the trees, cursing himself for taking up the job without really thinking things through. The harvest had created a boost in temporary jobs and Hwan-jae had jumped at the chance to earn a few extra bits to send back to his sister. Between Jeong-jae and himself, they were covering her basic schooling costs well enough but he was certain she'd be happy for some pocket money to spend with her friends.
Shiny red cherries peeked down from high above and he looked at them longingly. Several of the trees had already been picked through on the lower levels but he had a feeling there was still plenty to get higher up where the squirrels and other animals had yet to reach. The problem now was, how was he going to beat them there? It would be too annoying to try and climb while holding the basket and it would be even harder to climb back down with a full one. He contemplated asking the others for help but many were too busy chattering about other things and his eyes landed on a pretty blonde boy off on his own. That guy didn't look busy, he'd bother him! Bee-lining towards the relaxed hunter, he closed the distance pretty quick.
"Hey, hey, I have a great idea." Most things that started off with that disclaimer tended to be the opposite but Hwan continued and took a step towards Mykanos. "We'll get way more fruit than everybody else if we get higher than them." The tan skinned boy was tall and that was perfect for his plan. He also looked young like him so between the two of them, they'd have plenty of energy to accomplish this.
"I'll climb up first and you can hand me the baskets, then we'll both pick and reverse the order when it's time to come down." The shorter boy grinned, looking pleased with his plan and waited for an answer before accidentally cutting off any reply Mykanos had with a sudden realization.
"I forgot! I'm Hwan-jae by the way."

His attention took its time veering to the swiftly approaching boy, very used to people simply passing him by. However, when the stranger did pause beside him, Mykanos slowly looked down at the shorter tyke, somewhat intrigued by the immense energy that was palpitating from the other youth. There weren't many like that around here, that's for sure.
With the prospect lined up for him, Mykanos let his gaze venture from human to tree, and to the basket he held at his hip, contemplating while piecing together the plan that was being devised. Well, he didn't care for getting more, really. He was enjoying the pace he had set in stone. But this other fella seemed quite intent on gathering as many as possible, as fast as possible... He kept silent, as usual, listening patiently, and politely, while his eyes transfixed back onto the expectant boy once more.
Climb...? was he referring to the tree, or Mykanos himself? Glancing to the bountiful canopy, he really didn't think it could sustain either of their weights. The branches weren't that thick to be climbing. With a small moment of deduction, the hunter came to the assumption that he was to be the one hoisting the boy onto his shoulders.
"Sure." was all he said, deep voice strong, but nonthreatening. He bent at his waist to place down his basket, and lower into a crouched position, so that he could be climbed onto. Mykanos didn't mind helping another in need, and this guy seemed to be in a hurry of sorts.
As usual with his lacking social skills, an introduction wasn't returned on his part. He just quietly waited for Hwan-jae to hop on.

The other boy quietly listened to Hwan and gazed up at the tree to analyze it. It was probably for the best that he altered the plan from the excitable boy's original idea or things could've gone incredibly bad. Still, the dark haired teen felt a smidge of embarrassment as the calm gatherer crouched down obviously expecting him to climb aboard. No words had been spoken to scrap his idea but the cool rejection made Mykanos seem even more mature and mysterious. Just who the heck was this guy?
"Thanks, I owe you one. I know, you can have mine for helping me." There was no way the other guy would be able to keep picking while he was carrying Hwan so he felt he had to give him something in return for helping him out. Dumping the current amount of fruit he'd managed to scrounge up into the second basket, he hoped it would be enough. Hwan didn't have much else to give but he would track the guy down later if he wasn't satisfied. Back in Bindau he'd learned to hate unpaid debts. One day he would return to give back to the town what they'd done for him, just maybe not any time soon.
"Well, here goes!" It wasn't what he'd intended but Mykanos's idea just might work. He felt a little weird climbing on somebody he didn't even know the name of but the blonde was already crouched down and he wasn't going to wimp out for such a small reason. Putting his hands on the blonde's shoulders, he climbed on in position to sit comfortably and briefly wondered just how strong this guy was. Hwan-jae wasn't incredibly heavy but he was athletic enough to be far from light.

He really wasn't prepared for the returned offer, eyes quickly shooting to the cherry's being dumped with his own. Mykanos would have spoke up in protest, had he not seen how content the other was with said action. Perhaps it would be rude of him to decline. Though his mother had always warned him of others courteous ways, the hunter was rather oblivious to social niceties, and this did seem like an even trade. Thus, nothing to worry too much about... not that he really would. He was an easy going sort of gent, and didn't really concoct over analyzed possibilities when there wasn't a need to. Certainly not over something so small as this! They would both be getting cherry's, and that's all that mattered.
As he felt the weight begin to settle on him, his legs tightened, and he focused on pushing the additional towards the ground. Everyone knew you lifted from the legs, not the back, after all. When his partner was secured, slowly Mykanos pushed them upright, being wary of branches that might smack the smaller teen in the face. Didn't want to poke an eye out. While he didn't have the largest set of shoulders, they were strong and powerful from his work in the mountains. He'd hauled off large kills, and materials using those shoulders, conditioning them, and instilling discipline. Hands raised up to hold onto Hwan-jae's legs, keeping him steady, and to provide balance for the lack of backing he had up there. With this sort of position they had, Hwan-jae would be able to reach the very top of the canopy!
Others stared at the duo oddly, brows raised, whispers given here and there, along with giggles and laughter filtering from time to time, but Mykanos didn't react. He didn't care. Embarrassment wasn't something he was accustomed to, and it wouldn't start now. Their plan was effective, and that's what mattered.

Strong legs lifted and the two rose into a steady pose with Hwan above in the leaves eagerly picking while Mykanos stood below seeming calm and unconcerned with his own basket. It was a little strange to the shorter boy to be with someone with a much more relaxed pace than his own but not in a bad way. Perhaps he didn't need to rush as much as he thought. Chocolate eyes peered up at the endless blue sky peeking through the branches and he paused to enjoy the view. Once the job was done, maybe he'd bag up a dinner, grab a few friends and come back out here. The dusty barren academy grounds were practical for the activities there but the landscape had nothing on the fresh grass and beautiful lush greenery out here. Thankfully the trees hadn't reached heights that terrified him yet either and he could see a refreshing afternoon out here as the sun began to set before heading back to the dorms.
The sound of laughter snapped him out of his thoughts and he grinned and shook his head at their audience. They were just jealous they hadn't thought of such a genius plan! Granted, he hadn't either, Mykanos had come up with the current arrangement, but whatever. Plucking a few more from overhead, he looked them over to check the color before dangling the nicest pair down in front of his current ride as an offering to eat. The basket was far from full and he really ought to be piling the good ones in there but he felt that the laborers were owed a few cherries as additional compensation. The shiny red fruit dangling all around them was really too tempting to not sample.
"Hey, I don't think I caught your name." Popping another cherry into his own mouth, Hwan chewed and enjoyed the sweet flavor before spitting the pit out on the ground to the side of them. It was confirmed, these ones were just right for picking!
