Personality:

The most common phrase you would hear Basil's friends saying about is "Why, Basil, why, Basil, WHY?" He is not exactly the sort of person who takes responsibility for his actions as he is always looking for a way to get out of something, or find an excuse to why something wasn't his fault. Despite this, he finds himself regularly playing mediator between his family an friends, having a rather good eye for spotting a fair ground between people. (think King Solomon without the babies and swords). Of course, like all human he can have his own bias, favoring those that seem more unfortunate in the situation than someone else.

He would never lie and say he's the brightest crayon in the box but he can be given points for creativity and wit. It doesn't seem like with his snarky original remarks and his lack of seriousness in dire situations that he'd do well in the military but it's for that same reason why he joined to begin with. He enjoys his life of simplicity and facing everything with a grin, but ignorance isn't always the best way to live. He's determined to try to straighten up to become the person that can live a more stable life than just running between the walls for every last bit of coin he can obtain.

Basil finds himself attempting to manipulate people for the good of himself and of his family with it focusing on trying to swindle people from their money. Gambling? Not quite, but weaving a lie to make himself seen in a better light? That is more than likely to happen. Basil has a greedy streak as well. Greedy for money, for attention, food. Basil wants it all, and he wants it now. And when asked to share he's more than likely to say no.

For all his faults, Basil is very much a 'live in the moment' man. He isn't likely to let something even as serious as death to keep him down for long. The world moves in a way that it doesn't stop for anyone so Basil doesn't believe in letting ties hold him back. He's also rather childish, and he hopes to get rid of that once he joins the military.

History:
Basil is the youngest of three orphaned children, all of whom were street performers, doing acrobatic stunts in streets in order to make a bit of cash here and there. They were hardly wealthy but with their talents and knowledge of where they could make the best coin they lived well enough to not struggle to eat. The Mallardi family made it a habit of sneaking into merchant carts that traveled between the districts, trying to get as many new people to entertain as possible. They both loved their work, and used it to survive.

As an individual Basil performs mainly acrobatic stunts in the streets, telling stories with his psuedo acting and works alongside his brother Tony to sometimes put on puppet shows, when the ground is too wet for such activities to be safe.

Upon Joining the military, he received disdain from his brothers who thought he was leaving because he was better than them. In the end, Basil didn't care what they thought and took to only focusing on how to improve himself. He loved his dancing, and his shows for the kids but in the end that wasn't the life he wanted.

Title: Stray Child: Given due to him straying away from the life he's known, where he had no adults supervising him, to a new life with nothing he truly understands. His childish nature has not left him, hence the word 'child'.
