General debriefing: With the holiday season fast approaching, the division leaders have a very important tasks for hunters willing to step up to the challenge: brave the holiday season crowds and get some things for them. In addition, hunters are also tasked with escorting a golem fashioned after the division leader they're shopping for. Hunters will then task this golem with trying on clothes to ensure a good fit.
Mission Budget: Hunters will be issued a prepaid debit card to use. All unspent funds will be returned to Deus Ex. Any additional clothes a hunter purchases for either their division lead or themselves will come out of their own pocket.
* E class difficulty level (anyone may attempt; all hunters regardless of rank will be monitored])

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS:
- As you enter to pick up the mission, the Hunter at the lighthouse portal stops you. "Sorry, we're doing luck of the draw here." He points to a six-sided dice. A literal, six sided dungeons and dragons dice that they probably stole from Mark.
- RP rolling the dice for luck. There is an actual IC list of what the dices match up to:
1 = Allan, 2 = Aria, 3= Caelius, 4 = H, 5 = Edith, 6 = you choose, lucky you.
- After you take the gamble, the Hunter on portal duty will activate a princess golem and a shopping list. The princess golem is because the division leads hate mistakes, so any clothing you get for them better be a perfect fit and match. Once there, your hunter (and golem) will be dropped off at a mall. Roll 5d20 to determine what shops you get (see below). Visit the online site/catalogue of these sites to do your shopping, and try to get stuff which you think best matches who you have to shop for.
- Remember to refer to the request list to ensure that you're getting everything you need for that person
- If you go with more than one person, each person needs a golem (duplicates are up to you, otherwise you may reroll if you feel the RP would benefit better from different golems). Every golem will come with a separate budget. The only thing you and your group will share are the stores you get.
- * Golem Reactions: Occasionally the golem will spout a random phrase, as well as react positively/negatively to what you have selected. See list of predisposed dialogue, which you can use further down. All golems use the same dialogue, they are princess golems after all!

Budget*
- Using the stores you rolled for below, you must try to get all the items while staying in budget. Budget will depend on the golem; each golem has a different prepaid card/budget amount. Simply browse the online catalogs provided, or improvise with items you think could be found in those stores. If you don't, any additional items must come out of your own paycheck, ouch. Good luck getting something as close as possible to the contents on the list (if you can't find anything, improvise!). Also the lighthouse sentries aren't letting you back until you actually fulfill the list, out of respect and a healthy dose of fear.
- You can buy more than one item from the store.
- You can buy your own hunter additional items or purchase additional items for the lead golems out of pocket. Who knows? It might pay off in the long run...

Golem phrases:

Roll when entering a store/trying on a new piece of clothing. Improvise when needed, ie "I'm not wearing that" when entering a store can be tweaked to "I'm not wearing anything from here."

  1. "Not bad."
Effect: Golem approves of your choice.
  2. "We're not going in there."
    Effect: Reroll a store.
  3. "I'm not wearing that."
    Effect: Pick a new item.
  4. "My star barrettes are fabulous!"
    Effect: None.
  5. "I want that one instead."
Effect: Look at the item you're viewing on the page. Move two items left. Your golem wants that item instead.
  6. "Let's go over here!"
Effect: Your golem drags you to another store. Reroll if entering, roll again if you just purchased something.
  7. "Wait. I forgot something! We're going back."
Effect: Return to a previous store. If you get this on the first roll, visit the first store twice. Due to a very fussy golem, if you receive this three times you can ignore it from the fourth roll onward. The golem will be very sulky afterwards and may act like a giant wo/man-child but hey, thems the lil breaks. You also don't need to roll again, provided you haven't bought nothing yet.
  8. "Let's take a break. My treat."
Effect: "My treat" is a filthy lie. You spend 15 min at a cafe being watched uncomfortably by the golem as it attempts small chatter. Lose -$5 from your paycheck. At least the golem didn't blow its own cover by trying to eat something. If entering a store, you're pulled away before you can go in. If purchasing something, you're dragged to one immediately after.
  9. "Aren't you missing something?"
Effect: Lose something you've purchased. If you've purchased nothing, you lose the list.
  10. "Hey, nice job!"
Effect: The golem is pretty happy.
  11. "...You're joking."
    Effect: The golem is sulking.
  12. "Does this make my butt look big?"
Effect: The golem is insecure and is looking for a compliment.
  13. "So, what are your plans?"
Effect: Is the golem attempting to hit on you, or is it sincerely asking you what you want to do as a hunter?!
  14. "Can you suggest something for me?"
Effect: Pick something out. Roll 1d4. Even, the golem is happy and accepts the suggestion. Buy it. Odd, the golem rejects it.
  15. "What do you think of this?"
Effect: The golem randomly picks something out. Roll 1d4. Even, the golem is happy and buys it. Odd, the golem looks disappointed and puts it back.
  16. "Hey. You try this on too."
Effect: The golem forces you to wear the latest outfit/clothing item you purchased.
  17. "You should change your outfit too."
Effect: The golem forces you into purchasing a whole new outfit and wear it for the duration of the mission.
  18. "ERROR QUERY: LOCATION? INPUT NEEDED."
Effect: The golem looks at you blankly as shoppers around at you give you an odd look as they begin to whisper among themselves. Choose a store, any store.
  19. "..."
Effect: The golem is giving you a heavy, cold stare. You feel shamed.
  20. "I want two of these."
Effect: Double the next item on the list, ie you need two now.

* 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully. If you do not get all of the items, 1 mission reward point + look of pity from the Lighthouse Hunters, plus three days of toilet cleaning.

In addition, for going on this mission you may also choose to shop FOR YOURSELF and update your hunter's wardrobe/things. It'll come out of your own pay check however.

If you lose the list: -$25 is deducted from your paycheck before a Hunter pulls you aside and teaches you how to back the list up on your phone. If the list was on your phone to start with, -$200 to purchase a replacement phone.

Tips/Suggestions:

To move at a faster rate, roll 3d20: first roll represents what store you're going into, the second the golem's opinion of the store, and the last is the golem's reaction to buying an item. Not recommended if you're doing it in groups since doing this pretty much means you're soloing the entire time.

Can I choose which store to enter first?
That's fine. Think of the stores you roll = the least crowded. Assume you have only 2 IC hours to do this, so the stores that are open/least crowded = best chance to get everything done.

Can I buy more than one item at a store?
Yes, but be sure to roll a golem response for each item purchased!

Really. This was his mission? Shopping for division leads. He could be doing much more useful things at the moment. Translating, taking care of patients, anything really. He enjoyed shopping for himself, for Ami, for clothing and groceries, but this felt like an honest to God huge waste of his valuable time. They couldn't just send some lackey - oh right. He was still just a lackey.

Sighing, he sent a quick text to Evan. Like hell he was doing this alone. Plus, it would be good to at least try and put their strained relationship on the mend - or at least gauge how he did in a public setting with the stress of multiple rude people and loud noises. All part of the assessment.

Evan narrowed his eyes at the message on his phone, tempted, for a moment, to just ignore it. Stormy may have forgiven Lex, but Evan hadn't, nor had he forgotten for a second what the Lifer was capable of. Unfortunately, Evan also hadn't forgotten that this same Lifer had the final say on whether or not he was fit to stay on the Island. He showed up at the lighthouse exactly five minutes after he had gotten the text, dismayed to find that no one else was there. "Just us?"

Lex gave Evan his iconic confident smile and close to lazy wave of the hand before tilting his head, mirth playing across his eyes at the comment. Lex chucked, then pulled out his phone. "Well, I could always ask Sunny to join us."

Evan blanched at the very mention of Sunny's name, making his way double-time into the lighthouse. "Ready whenever you are," he said instead.

Lex's smirk remained the same as he followed Evan into the lighthouse, putting the phone away and slipping his Hunter's coat off in the same motion, folding the garment and handing it off to a guard with a nod. Lex fully expected the coat to be in pristine condition when he returned.

The other guard began speaking, handing Lex a die. "Roll it for your golem, and pray you don't get the princess." He whispered, a small gulp punctuating the order. Lex took the die and rolled, willing the cube to land on someone easy.

He sighed when it landed on the Sun lead's number. Lex liked Allan, the orange headed man was fun and chipper and all those positive traits, but good God he knew his shopping list would be full of things ridiculous and obscure. He wasn't disappointed when the list came to him.

Turning to Evan, Lex gave the saddest of sad smiles. "Your turn - or you can help me shop for the world's biggest... fan." Nerd.

With great reluctance, Evan handed over his coat and scarf. Although this was, technically, a mission and he would complete it to the best of his ability just like any other, it didn't feel as important as, say, doing something that would allow him to utilize the training and experience he had received on the island. It would be useless in a mall full of civilians; all that mattered here was his ability to shop. His wardrobe consisted almost entirely of cargo pants, tank tops, and t-shirts. Since the cruise ship mission, he had added exactly one button down shirt and a pair of slacks, just in case, that he had never worn. This was not a mission he was looking forward to and would rather, in point of fact, be sent out to kill monsters with nothing more than his bare hands.

"I'll pass," Evan told Lex. As much as he liked Allan, he had seen his division lead's shopping list, and the only thing Evan could readily identify on it was a laser pointer. He dutifully took the die from the lighthouse guard, raising an eyebrow at his smirk, and rolled it. It spun on a corner like a top a few times before wobbling to a stop, two divots on its face.

Two...wasn't that Aria? Evan hadn't known her all that well, though he knew of her and had heard the whispers that put her name and "traitor" in the same sentence. He didn't know why she was still included in the mission parameters, and it was reflected in his bemused expression. "Now what?" Evan asked, looking for guidance from the guard, who shrugged helplessly, to Lex.

"Just take it anyway," the guard suggested. "What's the worst that could happen?"

Lex certainly seemed a little ill of ease at the thought of bringing along an Aria golem and her shopping list, but a mission was a mission - no matter the layers of asinine orders. He nodded, grunting, "Fine then. Send us on our way, if you please."

The stationed Hunters snorted a bit but flipped a few switches and dialed in a few knobs, the Portal shifting and whirling different shades of azure and lilac. All a very pretty lights show for two men who would rather be doing other things - Lex enjoyed shopping, but not for his bosses. Especially not Allan.

The Lifer nodded to both of the guards on duty, giving a polite smile. "Thank you." He said, stepping through the portal and into a very large mall. Very, very large.

If nothing, this would show Lex how Evan dealt with large crowds.

Evan followed Lex through the portal, trusting his golem to keep up, and was immediately struck by the riot of sights and sounds and smells of any large, crowded mall. It was so normal that it was almost abnormal, and Evan nearly reeled from the shock. He recovered from his disorientation quickly, stepping out of the path of a herd of incoming giggling teenage girls. He frowned; this was hardly a mission befitting a Sun. This seemed more like Life work, and he suspected he was probably doing something of Lex's for him.

"We're gonna head off that way," Evan told Lex, jerking his thumb over his shoulder. He didn't know what was over there, but they weren't going to finish this any quicker just standing around. "We'll meet up with you later." Or maybe they would just leave Lex there to wonder where they were and why they were running so late.

The first store they wandered into blared typical pop-punk, but looked like a likely choice based on the way the mannequins were dressed in the display windows. Or maybe they weren't. Evan wasn't that great at shopping for himself, let alone for a woman.

Lex gave the tiniest of smirks at Evan's attempt to flee from his captor - ignoring the all too real Allan golem screaming something about senpais or whatever - and parted the sea of giggling teens and boys attempting to strut the swagger they didn't have to follow Evan into a store that was very much aimed towards the skater demographic.

Lex gave a small sigh and shook his head. Evan was going to fail the mission so badly. The Lifer noted that Evan had zero sense of taste, though that was irrelevant to his psychological profile and more of a caution to ask Evan for gift exchange receipts if the man ever got him a Christmas present.

"Evan, I don't think you'll be finding anything Aria would like in here..." The taller man suggested, shrugging nonetheless. "But, by all means, do try to find something. We're on a limited schedule."

"You should change your outfit, too," the Aria golem said as if Evan would wear any of this crap. He practically lived in tees and cargo pants.

Evan sighed and looked over his shoulder at Lex, his eyes narrowed in irritation. "You wanna be her personal shopper? If so, by all means. If not, <******** off. Besides, shouldn't you be using our limited amount of time to get the things on Allan's list?"

Lex gave the other man an irate smile, knowing he was fully in the right. They did have a limited amount of time, and Allan's list did need completed. Lex just really didn't want to.

Allan the golem wasn't having it, however. Lex was prodded along into a very perfumed and slightly dark store with much "hey's!" and "don'ts!" Lex knew the store, and he knew nothing good would come of looking for Allan's anything in here.

"Really? Victoria's Secret?" He sighed, the golem nodding its head. Maybe he could pick up some yellow thigh-highs and sharpie a Pikachu face onto them...or pick up some new lingerie for Ami.

If Evan trailed after Lex, it was only because his golem was, and he couldn't just wander off and leave it in the middle of a mission--though calling this a mission was a joke. He snickered as Lex and Allan's golem wandered into Victoria's Secret, calling after them, "Remember, you're not here to shop for yourself!" He desperately wanted to watch the ever-collected Lifer try to explain his presence with a very male golem in a very feminine shop, but his own objective was getting ahead of him. He was relieved when it walked into a shop that might have some of the things on its list.
