Nathaniel's lived a pretty sheltered life; he cares a lot about experiments and science and research and medicines and knowledge, but less so about actual people, probably because he doesn't know how to understand them, seeing as how he can't take them apart and examine them. He's quite friendly, and he's very cheerful and engaging when he's around people, but he treats everyone pretty much the same; he's very bad at developing deeper relationships with anyone, even if he wants to. He's not socially awkward; he can hold conversations well, but sometimes he bumbles along talking too much about something like philosophy or science, and he gets very carried away by this. Occasionally he is cheerful to the point of being overwhelming; and this is mostly due to the fact that he'd rather people see him as fun and creative, then quiet and studious and broken. He sees himself as somewhat damaged because of how he doesn't quite fit into the noble society like others do; he often talks in a very self-deprecating way, in that he doesn't actually view himself as intelligent, in spite of his desire to learn everything about the world. Nathaniel is polite and good-natured, and will talk to people around him (overly talkative, some might say), but there is a distinct lack of deeper formed connections. He is of the general opinion that there is something wrong with him that makes him not quite fit in places.

History: He grew up the only son of two nobles, and was their prized (if not somewhat strange) child. Nathaniel didn't inherit the sense of arrogance that many of the children he grew up around did, since he mostly spent time doing things on his own. He loves his parents; they are very close, but Nathaniel now lives on his own, seeing as how he's an adult. At first he had no desire to join the military, but as he grew older, he became more and more interested in the concepts and ideas, and wanted to get a closer look at everything happening, so he enlisted.
When he's not working, or training, he's usually found anywhere there's a lot of people, because he likes being around them, even if he doesn't understand them. He enjoys food and cooking, and also is known for observations and sky-gazing. Nature fascinates him, and he likes spending most of his time outdoors.
