Killian shifted a bit, adjusting his position in his harness and looked up at the one thing that meant more to him than his own life. His ship. He had seen the humans with the odd thing. He had seen ships before, and they had always fascinated him, but he had never gone after them, or gotten too close because humans had weapons. He was brave, not stupid. But this ship... it had come too close to a reef and the bottom had gotten stuck, then broke away. the humans took little boats, small enough that he could actually see the tops of them, even with himself safely under water. Soon all the humans were gone, and the ship was stuck. He could see from under the water, the hole. This was his first chance to study a ship up close and really figure it out. He dove down for the pieces of the bottom of the ship that had fallen off and gathered them in a nook in the reef. They were stuck together with little black circles, but one of the circles had come off with the broken bits and he saw that the other side of the circles was long and, as he learned the hard way, sharp. He had no clue how to use such things, but he gathered that they somehow kept the ship together. So he dove again and found some fish he had used before. He knew that if he killed them and pulped their bodies just so it made a sticky resin. He had used it in his youth for pranks. Their lives, or the ship, there was nothing to think about. He killed the fish, made the paste and fixed the hole with the broken bits and other materials he found until it was solid. Then he fetched something he had found ages ago that had been left from humans and another ship. A net. He brought it up and affixed it to the top of the bottom of the ship....

She shook himself out of his reverie. It had taken a while, but he had learned how to move and steer his ship from inside that net. The ship was his favorite thing. Oh sure, most who met him thought that females were what he loved most, but he loved them a while and then moved on when they got boring. But his ship, aye, now that was his forever. He's sooner be parted from his own soul than loose his ship, after all, what good was a soul? But the ship, aye, the ship.

He found himself coming close to the shore. Not that he minded.
He didn't understand human speech, but he gathered enough from the screams when they saw the top of the ship. He had no clue what was up there that scared them so badly, but it amused him. And sometimes they jumped overboard to get away. Killian was glad then to be in the association of several quite hungry sharks. Aye, no human would ever live to tell the secret of his ship, and no shark dare molest him or his lady of the hour, which made for some rather... interesting evenings. Aye, it was indeed a good life, and it was good to be him.

Akis bounced her way down the beach, not quite paying attention to the water. At least not just yet. She had wandered away from her home meadow some time ago, around when her sister, Addy, had left home for a grand adventure. She had had to wait for her father to be distracted before she could slip away on her own. As much as she loved her papa, she could hardly stick around and let him fuss over her as he was prone to do. Pavlov was a sweet soul, and some days Akis wondered how he had gotten tangled up with her mother. But she never thought about it for too long. After all, anyone who saw Zahavah and Pavlov together would never doubt their love for one another. Even if they were an unlikely couple.

Akis was snapped from her thoughts when she heard the screams. Her head shot up and she finally looked out at the sea, stunned to see some sort of…. Figure… looming on the horizon. From the shouts of fear coming from the distance she assumed it was something fearsome indeed. Having never been to the sea, however, she didn’t have a clue what it could be. Her curiosity was piqued, however, and with a fearless grin, she dove into the water to investigate.

And what she would see was a large human ship moving on it's own. There was nothing living moving on the top of the ship, and the wheel moved on its own as he manipulated the rudder from below. of course he himself was concealed in the shadow of the ship, invisible. He grinned a bit at the sound of the screams, but he was feeling lonely. Maybe he'd find a lovely lass nearby to pass some time with. It was a nice thought, and he found himself smiling under the water.

She swam closer to the ship, investigating it from a safe distance before diving and moving closer from below. She didn’t notice the mer swimming in the shadow of the ship, too distracted by the hull of the great monstrosity. What was it? Some kind of sea creature? It didn’t seem to have a face, but it clearly had a destination. It also didn’t really seem to be alive. More like a leave on the water… just sort of floating… in a particular way… yeah… right…

He grinned wider, seeing her. His prayers, answered then. "'Ello, Luv," he said. "Fancy an adventure, do ya, or do you just like the sound of their screaming?" Of course, that screaming was starting to fade, as it too oft did. Humans rarely stood still and screamed he learned, or those that did generally died, and that too cut short the sound. But this time none were fearfully approaching, just to flee again, at least not that he could tell.

Aye, but what cause was there to care? A lovely lass was better amusement than a whole herd of screaming humans, anyway. His slid his tail from the rudder control to flick it playfully at her.

She jumped at the sound of his voice and twisted to face him, blinking. It looked like... a fish... soq? His words sank in and she tilted her head, curiously. "Screaming? Oh, you mean the humans? Is that why you're pulling this... whatever it is? To scare them. What is it, anyway?" she asked, peering at the large object again.

What is it? Well that was an easy answer, at least. "Mine lass, that's what she be. Mine. And I pull her for that reason, luv. Aye. The humans screaming, that is what I like to term... a fringe benefit."

He smiled charmingly at her. "Ah, but why waste our lips speaking of humans? There are far more interesting things mouths could be doing." He slid his tail back into the rudder so that he could swim closer to her, then slid it out again, ever mindful that they did not get too close to the shore.

Tail once more free, he slid it closer towards her, intending to slide it across her own. "Aye, luv, mouths, and more, if you've a taste for adventure, that is."

He flashed her another one of his "Aren't I the charming devil" smiles.

Despite the charming smile, Akis sensed that SOMETHING was up. She may not be as well traveled as her mother, but she was no fool. Of course... she did have her mother's adventurous spirit. She grinned impishly at him and darted just out of his reach, swimming around the ship a bit so that the hull was between them. "Mine is a strange thing to call an object. And it's a female? Does that mean it... she's... alive?"

He sighed, but only for a moment. He would have preferred the lass appreciate his qualities, but then, the ship was the best part of him, so he took it in stride, so to speak.

"She may well be, lass, I don't rightly know. But she is mine. She is called by others a ship, but she be mine."

He liked to have the ship admired, but he wanted to make sure that the filly didn't get any ideas, have any designs to take it, that... he would not allow. By all the oceans, he would not allow it.

"Of course, lass, I know about her, you however are the new mystery, and I do so love a good mystery."

"Ah, but see, I'm not a mystery to me. I know all about me, every secret, every plot twist, every little detail. I'm not interesting at all. But this..." she studied the ship curiously. "This is interesting!"

"Well then, lass, it shouldn't take you long to fill me in on every... plot twist... should it?" He asked, grinning at her with a rapscallion grin, trying to distract her from the boat.

"Perhaps," she shrugged, realizing that he wasn't going to tell her more about that fascinating device. Her interest in the whole situation rapidly waned. "But where's the fun in that?"

"I tell ye what, lass, You tell me about ye, I'll tell ye about me, and after we've gotten to know each other a bit better, maybe we can talk about the ship then, if ye are still interested in her...."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2015 7:40 pm

She waited a heartbeat to see if he was going to finish that sentence. When he didn't, she tilted her head, studying him. "What if I'm not interested in you?"

He stared at her. Was the lass playing hard to get...or... no... she had to be. Look at him, just look at him, how could any mare or filly not swoon? She had to be playing hard to get... had to be. There simply was no other answer that made sense... well... unless she was gay.... No, he was good looking enough to make even gay mares take another look... He was just that (deluded) handsome. So she had to be playing hard to get... right?

"Of course you are," he crooned. "It's alright to be overwhelmed lass. I'm right here, I'll keep ye safe."
