Thoughts on matrimony, weddings, super serious relationships, etc. anyone? I am engaged since 2008 and finally going to get married next year. I'm open to ideas about what all of this potentially means...

I met my husband about 4 years ago and got married 2 years ago. We ended up doing a simple ceremony, simple clothes, simple honeymoon, since it was all on our shoulders.
Regarding your long engagement, did you get to know your future spouse better than you would have by doing a "shotgun wedding"? No one can say how long an engagement has to last. Don't let anyone say otherwise.
