Ok...I have a question that has been driving me crazy!
What is with the money system and distribution in the korean music industry like? I've noticed through variety shows and the like, that a lot of the singers are like cinderella to their companies...especially SM. They have somewhat poor housing, and it seems like the money that they make is withheld from them in some way or another.
For example, I don't remember which group, but there was like 5 boys but two beds, no tables, or any kind of seating facilities and limited dishware.
And yet they still manage to donate millions, if not billions of dollars to charities, or buy their mom a new house and car.
I just don't understand what is going on...Anyone else feel the same way?

I don't understand, they should take care of themselves.

i'm not sure, but generally, they move around quite often and would rather use their money on other things, like what you listed. Otherwise, I'm still not sure, as I know sometimes even their managers live in the dorm too..
However, iKon, a still relatively new group, actually has pretty good housing. Each of the members have their own rooms that are small but nice. I think it really depends on the group's popularity. Maybe those clips you saw were from when they were less popular or something? But overall, life as a kpop idol is no where near luxurious.
