Mintaka sighed as she landed on the roof, shielding her eyes from the glare of the city lights and looking for the chaos aura she felt. Like a blip on her order radar, she worried it was a loose youma. As she got closer to it though, it felt a bit stronger.
A bit more then just a youma could pull off.
A worry dawned that she was tailing a negaverser but had yet to meet some that were actually terrible to her. In fact, she hadn't been attacked by anyone since Osumilite and she wasn't sure if that was good or bad or just damned lucky.
She rested a leg up on the rooftop ledge, waiting for the chaos order to scoot closer to her. She'd see what it's all about from her safe perch first. Wouldn't want to ruin a safe streak like that?

There was someone tailing her, and Super Sailor Canopus wasn't sure how she felt about that. It hadn't been too long since Prince Remarque had deemed her worthy of an upgrade, and while she knew she had gotten stronger, she was still hesitant to want a confrontation with anyone, regardless of the feel of their aura. Princess Leto felt that there were still some within the Negaverse that could be trusted and she knew that her princess was right, but trust in the Negaverse as a whole... would simply be too hard for Canopus to do.
Remarque had given her more power so that she could protect herself, but Canopus was more concerned with protecting her court. She worried for their safety, even when she wasn't in her powered state, and now, though she only felt one relatively strong Order aura behind her, she kept herself aware for any of her own nearby. She didn't want to fight, but she'd gladly do so if they sought to attack, she told herself. If she fell here, then who would protect her beloved court later?
Eventually, she chose to stop running and wait it out for a moment, wondering if she'll either lose the one that may or may not have been trailing her, or if they'd just turn around a leave when they thought she'd stand her ground. Canopus was hoping for the latter, but after a few moments, neither side seemed to be moving. She called out, uncertain of if he or she could even hear her, and she hoped her voice didn't waver too badly, though with the way her heart beat wildly in her chest, she was certain she'd fail. "Whoever you are... Are you going to attack me?"

Mintaka jumped down from her perch as the figure was in her sights, landing on the ground with a soft thud and small sigh.
"Canopus?" As the light hit the figure, revealing the Dark Senshi, Mintaka relaxed much more. "Forgive me, but haven't we met once before. Once upon a dream?" Mintaka was of course teasing...about the dream part.
A line from one her old favorite movies.
"You've grown stronger Canopus!" It was good to see it so, even if the girl seemed still very timid.

Whoever it was, they apparently felt confident enough to approach her, and why Canopus knew that she should have given this person the benefit of the doubt, she could not stop herself from jumping and raising her fists when she heard someone land on the ground behind her. However, the moment she laid her violet eyes on her and the other spoke, Canopus felt relief sweep over her entire form.
"Mintaka!" Canopus said, likewise pleased, though admittedly she didn't immediately pick up on the movie reference until about halfway through the quote. When she did, though, she chuckled, though it was still a nervous one. She watched so little movies, but books? Books she read a-plenty, though her mind was blank on pulling out a quote from either of them at the moment.
She was just so happy to see that it was someone familiar and friendly, and she took a moment to flatten her dress when Mintaka commented on her strength. She turned her head in hopes of hiding her small blush, and now that she wasn't fearing for her life, she noticed that the White Moon senshi had undergone a change as well. "T-thank you. You're stronger now, too, right? You look lovely, and you feel stronger too... your aura, that is. Congratulations, Mintaka."
Now that most of her jitters were gone, she asked, "How have you been?"

Mintaka waited for Canopus to lower her guard before attacking the girl...in a very friendly sweep of a hug. Just a light brush and a reassuring touch that she was not here, as usual, to cause any harm or trouble.
"Good evening Lady Canopus." Mintaka stepped back, all smiles. "I am! I had a upgrade session with a guardian cat, cutest little thing mind you. And ta dah! One super senshi of origami here to cause as little trouble as I can manage." She laughed a bit. "Ah forgive me, I've been rude and rambled about myself.." Even if it felt good to gloat a bit over it. Her stance on neutrality usually made it dangerous for the Origami senshi, but luckily she had yet to meet anyone keen on hurting her over it.
"Congratulations to you as well, I'm sure Remarque is very pleased that you've grown so!" Since she was sure Remarque was always pleased when his court grew. "I'm nothing but a shade compared to you Canopus." She chuckled, preening a little. Canopus was definitely far cuter when she wasn't worried or nervous. "I've been very well! Studies are over for the year! I've been enjoying the summer and well...of course patrolling a little more at night then I should. dispatching Youma's and gathering information as usual." She said honestly enough, "And yourself? How are you?"

She wasn't expecting the hug and it took everything within her power not to let out a startled 'eee' when those arms wrapped around her. Thankfully, she held herself still and though she was spooked, she couldn't deny how good the hug felt, even if it did come from a White Moon senshi. It was brief, but nice, and Canopus returned the gesture with one of her own before she pulled away.
"I'm happy for you, Mintaka. It means you've worked hard and were rewarded for it!" Canopus said with a kind smile, truly meaning her words and seeing Mintaka as a friend, despite the amount of white on her uniform and how different her aura felt compared to hers. To her, Mintaka was a friend... simply misguided, though maybe not for too long, she thought to herself. For now, she just wanted to have a nice, friendly conversation with her friend. "There's nothing to apologize for... it's a big change for both of us and you have just as right to be as excited as you are! I really don't mind..."
When she mentioned Remarque, Canopus couldn't help but glance away, hoping her blush wasn't too noticeable from this angle as she explained. "He said as much... I hope that with my promotion, I'll be strong enough to not only take care of myself, but my family too. He and Leto worry so much about us... anything I can do to relieve them of that stress would be worth it, I think."
She sounded like she was having an easy enough time, and Canopus couldn't help but feel envious of her. "So you're doing good work... that's great to hear. I'm just... doing the usual. Collecting energy, just a little bit here and there. Keeping away from the Negaverse, watching out for my fellow court mates. School wise I'll be preparing for my senior year soon... I'm a little worried, but I think I'll be alright. I've survived worse."

Even Mintaka couldn't hide the joy of receiving a hug back. Especially from Canopus, who was skittish and easily spooked.
"Ah you say that, you cutie you." Mintaka flipped her hair over her shoulder and gave Canopus a winning smile, "But a lady shouldn't brag. As it is, I suppose on the rare occasions, we should be allowed too. I hope you brag to all your dark mirror friends too." She nodded, "And maybe I can tell Chariklo too. It's not often that I meet others who upgrade at the same time...well that sounds weird, I suppose I mean...We're both getting stronger...together?" She held her hands together, "It you know..it kind of feels like friends graduating or going through school years together?" Mintaka brushed a hand through her hair and laughed awkwardly. "That sounds weird huh...Sorry."
Her head cocked and turned a bit to follow...Oh my god was Canopus blushing. About Remarque. She was blushing about the prince...(she was blushing about the prince) Oh god. That was so cute, Oh god, that was so cute and almost terrible but so cute.
"Do you like Remarque?" She blinked, asking with a owlish look and innocent gaze. "I like him, he's very kind and thoughtful. A little amusing as well." she rubbed her chin. "I like General-King Zinkinite too. He was such a prince." But if she was to think of someone really...Aurostibite came to her mind, with his surprised wonder and closed off distance.
Actually Auro was a jerk. But that was okay, she'd make friends with him. She clenched her fist in a silent oath to herself to seek out the Negaverser and make him her friend as well.
Her hands reached out and took them gently, "You're going to be a senior too..." Mintaka closed her eyes, "That's amazing, really, we're close in age and everything. I feel more comfortable with you!" Like two giggling girls or something. "I hope thats...okay?"

"C-c-cutie?" Canopus wished she hadn't have cut her hair, as now there wasn't enough of it to hide her blush behind her bangs. It might have come off as a harmless comment, but for Canopus, such playful teasing always wiled her up. She played it off as a joke, because it had to be a joke, right? Don't bring attention to yourself, she told herself, instead trying to focus on Mintaka's excited banter. Except she seemed to be making it even more awkward! At least it wasn't just her...
"It's okay, I think I get what you're saying," Canopus said, at ease now that it seemed that Mintaka was fumbling with her words. No, she knew exactly what she was saying and she couldn't blame the girl for her excitement. "It's not weird at all. Are you alright with thinking me as a friend, even if we're on opposite sides? I mean, I am, if you are. Friends are always nice to have, no matter what form they may take, right?"
She hoped her maddening blushes had stopped by now, though if it did, it all came rushing back thanks to her next question. Did she like Remarque? She wanted to object to such a notion and she tried, but all she could do was wither into a mumbling mess. "Um... maybe. I like him because he saved my life and I owe my allegiance to him, but... I don't... you see, I think he has a significant other already, and I wouldn't want to make her mad, even if it was a crush. Not saying that I have a crush!"
Denial never suited her, but at least Mintaka gave her something to draw some attention away from herself with. She couldn't stop herself from gasping when Mintaka mentioned her crush on General-King Zinkenite. That wasn't safe, to crush on a Negaverse officer, especially a General-King. Maybe... he was one of the safe ones. Canopus wasn't sure, but she tried not to judge her friend harshly for that. One couldn't help who they crushed on, right? "Um, maybe you should be careful around the Negaverse? I just... worry about what they might do to you, that's all."
Then Mintaka took her hands and Canopus tried not to wince from the action. Once again, was she imagining things, or was Mintaka... implying something? Growing up in the dormitories, surrounded by curious girls, had made spotting such things so hard for Canopus. "Of course that's okay! Why... why would it not be?"

Mintaka cocked her head again, wondering why Canopus seemed so abashed to the idea that she was so adorable? Obviously Mintaka needed to compliment her more. A lady should be well received but modest in compliments. Also they felt nice.
"R...Really!??!" Mintaka let out a little sigh of relief. "I was worried that you might think me foolish or stupid or maybe a bit crazy. I can attest to two of those, but only some of the time." She nodded, "I don't know many girls my age I guess, and I'm terrible at making friends in school so...so It's nice to meet you. Hi."
She laughed as the blush rose again. "Yes, I believe he mentioned he was married when we met. And I think it's flattering to earn someone's affections, but that's just me." She patted Canopus shoulder.
"Oh most definitely. Zinkinite was by far a prince, charming but also cunning." She cocked her head, "I like him as a person, but I can't trust him fully as someone of the negaverse. But it suppose it doesn't help....I also know someone else, his name is Nysa, a knight of Neptune? He's the epitome of a prince. Kind, caring, gentle. Gorgeous." Mintaka sighed. "The only thing I worry about is if one of them stole my heart." She was teasing, oh god Canopus she was teasing hardcore.
"I think -if- you had a crush on Remarque, it's well earned on his part. Admiration for your leader is nothing new Canopus." She let go of Canopus's hands and - "Ah sorry, I just meant as friends, I'm all caught up in making you a friend? I guess it's something new to me." She smiled sheepishly.

Canopus shook her head at the very notion, her smile bright and genuine. "No, absolutely not. You're a kind soul, Mintaka, no matter what aura you give off or the color of your uniform. Nothing can hide that."
She tried not to let her pity be seen when Mintaka brought up the difficulties in finding friends at school, as it was something that she had also had troubles with herself. Sure, she knew her classmates and talked with them, but she never really felt that they were friends. That was partially her own doing, as she would chose to study or volunteer for the various food drives or after-school activities instead of hanging out with them, but it was still hard to make friends. How sad, that Canopus had more friends than Bethany... she would have to fix that someday.
Mintaka was her friend, which was why she was concerned when she expressed her fascination with Zinkenite. She didn't mean to judge, but she could not stop the frown from forming, and the way she held herself was akin to a nurse telling a patient the bad news. At least, that's how she envisioned herself in her mind. "Just... don't trust him. Ever. It's likely he just wants to bring you over to the Negaverse and nothing more. Just be careful with him, okay?"
However, the mention of Nysa sent her heart aflutter and she couldn't stop herself from smiling. "Nysa, however... he's such a gentlemen, dreamy and so kind. I think you can trust him..."
This encounter had just gotten too weird, and Canopus couldn't believe herself for letting it get that way. Her crush on Remarque was pushed to the wayside when Mintaka released her hold, and while there was initial relief at being considered only a friend, she could not help but feel... a little disappointed. 'Canopus, what's wrong with you?'
"Well, don't worry. We're definitely friends. You can be sure of that!"

"Really, you compliment me too much." Mintaka laughed, but she felt very warm on the inside. She didn't think of herself as mean, and tried not too. Sometimes though, she could be.
She nodded. "I'll be careful, or try to at least." She sighed, "I don't want to go to the darkside-" She waggled her eyebrows as a joke, "hopefully, it won't end up that way." Who knew what the future held after all.
See, there, She felt your feels Canopus. She felt them. "Right? Nysa is so handsome and charming and friendly. Like a true prince. Have you seen his hair as well..." Mintaka made a small dreamy sigh, "I've never seen a prince pull it off with such flair then Nysa does...." Was this the beginning of a Nysa fanclub? Mintaka would be okay with that.
She smiled at Canopus again....She wanted to ask if the girl wanted to be friends OUTSIDE of their powered lives, but sometimes that was pushing too much and too far. For now, she just hoped that she would be a good enough friend in the future and Canopus would trust her enough too...
"Would you like to patrol together then tonight? We can talk more about things? Do you like tea?...Do you like comics?"

"Is that such a bad thing, though?" Canopus asked, though it was more of a statement than anything. She straightened out a part of her dress, tugging at it as though it were cut too short for her tastes though he hadn't changed in lengths. Why had she allowed herself to get so worked up? Especially when it was all on her? At least she took comfort that Mintaka was approaching the situation with the General-King with some caution... the very idea of the Negaverse taking Mintaka frightened her, and there was no way she could even pretend to joke about that idea. "I know you should be allowed to choose your fate for yourself, but I just don't want them to trick you with their lies. I don't even care if you never join us- it would be nice if you did, but I understand that our court... is not appealing or even meant for everyone. Just be safe, okay?"
She knew she should have encouraged her switching over to the side of Chaos, but Canopus couldn't do it. She'd rather Mintaka remain as she were, with the White Moon, than soiled by the Negaverse's hands. She was grateful for the change of topic and what a nice change of topic as well! He was no where near them, and yet she still found herself swooning at the mere thought of him. "Yes, yes, all of those things. I hope to meet him again someday. Not that I'd know what to say... but that's alright. I can listen to him talk all day and that'd make me so happy."
Mintaka's sudden offer to patrol with her took her off guard, and her intial response was to refuse. Not because she didn't want to hang out with her, but because she was worried what Mintaka would think if she knew exactly where her duties were. She called them donations, but even she wasn't completely disillusioned that what she was doing was still wrong in some people's minds. And they weren't wrong. However, a quick look to her left and then her right confirmed they were alone, and that was all she needed before bobbing her head up and down. "I'd like that, yes! I don't mind tea... not my favorite drink, but I wouldn't refuse any if offered to me. I've read a few comics, but that's about it. They don't supply them often at the dormitories, and they always seemed to be checked out at the library. You like comics, I'm guessing?"
Patrolling with a White Mooner. What an interesting night...

"Not really! It just means that by the end of the night, you'll need to roll me away with the large head I've grown. I'll become addicted to compliments and thus, will always harass you for more." She winked, but kept her tone light and joking. "The dark Mirror court is very nice and appealing, but I believe that I'm of more use with order then with DMC." Mintaka paused, "I'll protect you guys either way, no matter which alignment I am meant to be." She smiled softly, "So no worries. I will not be taken by the Nega's." She'd make sure of it.
"Oh? Perhaps we should seek him out one day? Nysa has this way with conversation..." She was swooning, "That keeps you very enthralled and entertained. I could go on for days and we've only talked a couple of times. But I feel you Canopus. I really do." she laughed, "Really we should find him and just have him talk to us. Read us names from the phonebook or something." She laughed again.
She was expecting Canopus to refuse her, since it seemed sort of like a taboo. How often did White Court patrol with Dark Mirror Court? Probably never, but Mintaka hated to think it wasn't plausible.
"If you are concerned about your task...." Mintaka cocked her head, "I am not one to judge at all. So long as you aren't killing someone and not taking more then you need, then it's not a bad thing?" She was talking about energy drainings, something Chariklo had told her about, and she knew was something that was akin to the chaos side. "I'd rather learn more about you, though." she laughed lightly, falling step with Canopus.
"Mmhmm, I love comics. I'm a big fan of marvel though DC has wonderful characters as well. Batman has a very interesting and tragic story in the newer ones. I like to collect the figurines..." She admittedly guilty, "It's not quite a hobby you'd expect of a lady but well..we all have our quirks. What do you like to collect?"

It was a little disappointing to think that Mintaka had no interest in joining her court with her, but at the same time, Canopus understood and tried to respect her decision. Though that didn't mean she couldn't leave the door open for her, just in case. "I thought that way too, once... that I didn't think I had much of a use in my court, but that's alright. Remarque told me that everyone has a use, they simply need the time to grow... I'm sure the same could be said for you, but I understand. And thanks, for being a friend. We sure could use a lot more of them right now... real friends, anyway."
The idea of seeking out Nysa made her giggle and now she was covering both of her cheeks, knowing full well that her reaction would clearly give away the fact that she was blushing profusely. "Oh, don't give me ideas! I'm not allowed to have such thoughts yet! No, no, no, you silly girl! You're going to get me in so much trouble..."
Of course she was only joking, though anymore badgering like that and she'd likely have to go to confessions. Was it really so wrong for a young girl to fantasize about such things? She was eager to get to their shared patrol, trying her best to explain to Mintaka exactly what it was that she was suppose to do every night. "Well, we're collecting energy from civilians because we want to find a place of our own someday... where we'll be welcomed and not be surrounded by our enemies. Not... saying that you're an enemy, personally, but, just as a whole. We're not welcomed here obviously, so us leaving would be for the best. And to do that, we need energy... I'd rather ask for energy, though, instead of just taking it without permission. That'd be stealing... and that's what should be what separates us from the Negaverse, though I'm sure there are others who don't feel the same way, even in my own Court. I... like to think they're just desperate to find a new home. It's simply too hostile here and maybe they think stealing is the quicker way of achieving our goal. I don't agree with them, but... I can understand."
She didn't really want to dwell on the black and white of the situation, so she gladly focused on Mintaka's interests, impressed with what she liked and admiring her friend for it. "I don't have much room in the dormitories for such things, but I like books... mysteries, fantasies... even romance! Maybe when I have a place of my own, I can start collecting books... think of it, an entire room of books! It'd be so lovely."

"You're making a face." Mintaka smiled at the other senshi, pointing to the worried line in her brow. "That's the way of everyone I think..." Mintaka looked away, "What good are my powers or my magic? Origami? Paper shapes? Not really helpful mind you. But I can be if I collect information, if I talk to people." She rubbed her arms, "I hope I grow..." She looked at Canopus, "I hope I grow very strong, and someday, a pillar of strength for friends. Of any kind."
The worried frown on Canopus's face disappeared and made Mintaka's own worries disappear. It was nice, just to be girls too, to remember that they weren't magical beings from the universe. "Why not lovely dear? It's fine to think of princes and dashing gentleman. We are at the prime of our youth, fine examples of nurturing ladies!" She reached over to pull Canopus's hands gently away from her face, "See here, blushing maiden. Prime youthful ladies who enjoy a handsome prince. I see nothing wrong with it." Mintaka winked, dropping her hands.
"I've heard some from Chariklo and a little from Remarque. Mirrorspace, and you guys have planets but no way to get there?" She frowned, "I don't know if I got that right, but I did promise one day to take Remarque to my planet, to see how it's like." She nodded, "I've yet to reach him again, but once I do, it'll be my first trip to Mintaka with someone else." She paid close attention to the energy and had no ill thoughts or judgements on the matter. To be honest, She didn't find anything wrong with it unless it cause illnesses or death.
"Tough times lead to tough choices. Of course its morally wrong, but not if its survival and not if its killing or hurting anyone." She pursued her lips. "Can you show me? I mean not take from someone else, I can offer msyelf?" Mintaka cocked her head, "And before you protest! I'm asking so I can understand! And I trust you enough that you'll take what you need without hurting me!"
She paused a moment and then laughed. "I'll try next time we meet, to bring you some comics too. To add to your collection of books. I'm a fan of romance, I hope to find someone, someday to have one with." Fanciful girl things.
