It had been a delicately quiet sort of night. There had been a plague of recent nightmares, some she was sure were shared by others, especially senshi's but had yet to find others to talk about it.

To her, information was the power in this type of world, the more she gathered and shared, the more she could adjust herself to the going ons. She hated going into a war blind and refused to do it now.

Instead, she took to setting up on the roof her usual tea set up. As for drawing others to her, it had been quite successful. She had met Antiope and ********* and Megiddo this way, and it had yet to fail her.

She set the kettle to the small burner, laying out two set ups, one for herself and one for another if they so chose to join and poured herself a nice cup of warm peppermint tea. It was all a matter of waiting now.

Sup hi, how you doin' Astarte? <3
PostPosted: Sun Jul 27, 2014 8:00 am

Astarte yawned for the seventh time in the span of thirty seconds. Her eyes watered from exhaustion and her steps faltered in slight drags of her heels, but she didn't care. She felt too tired to care.

She knew her research dwindled to an unusually low point, wherein she unknowingly chased herself in circles over the same few facts, mulling them over until her point of reference felt so skewed that she stepped back from the low of it to reevaluate and soon found herself in the very same position as before. Frustrating as it was, Astarte knew that her research would undoubtedly find some benefit if she could sleep long enough to recover - even if that meant downing a gallon of chamomile tea and a few sleeping pills.

Suddenly chamomile sounded unconscionably appealing.

However, Astarte shoved the thought from mind as she continued on her path, safely on the sidewalk in case she wholesale missed the edge of a building, and continued through the myriad penumbras rising and fading in the edges of her vision. It felt hypnotic, in a way, to walk through every street lamp's tired gaze. And for a moment, her mind drifted along that path, lost in a world dancing between the architecture of Destiny City's street lamps compared to those of London, and a fleeting daydream in which those very lamps bent to peculiar angles.

It took some time before she registered a nearby spark of auric energy, as she readily tuned it out in favor of micro naps while walking until she realized she practically stood on top of it. Looking around, she found nothing more than vacant allies and chasing shadows wrought by nothing more than her imagination. "Bloody hell, where is this wanker?" She asked herself in mumbled tones.

And finally she looked up.

"Astarte, you genius, you missed the entire damn building. Might this new one be hanging about up there, or inside for a touch of a nap? Either sounds good... Oh, I would kill for a BedMart right now..." With a deep breath, she forced herself to concentrate on the height of the building, and use her newfound strength to crown the top of it without rebounding off of the balcony. Luckily, just one leap shot her a foot and a half past the lip of the building, and her heels found solid ground with nothing more than a nearly catastrophic stumble.

And then there was tea.

"Well, look at this! Quite the fancy setup you have here, sailor...?" Her final syllable tapered off while she searched the girl's face, finding no recognition in her curiously grey hair or bright eyes. The fuku she wore hinted toward some kind of bird, perhaps. "Mind if I sit for a spot of tea?" As far as she was concerned, the important questions could wait.

The blip of order aura on her senses made her smile into her cup. Since she had been a senshi, she had yet to meet another order aura that didn't go about exploring other aura's in the vicinity.

So when Astarte landed on her rooftop, Mintaka was prepared in the sense that she had a visitor of order, and only surprised that it was, in fact, a senshi and not a knight though she wasn't sure why she should be surprised it wasn't a knight. She had just met...so many of them.

"Good Evening." Mintaka set her cup down, gesturing to the seat and cup that was empty, but could easily be filled if Astarte asked. "Sailor Mintaka, Of Origami." She cocked her head a bit, "And it would be a great pleasure if you would! Is there a flavor you prefer Sailor...? I have Chamomile, peppermint, orange spice, green, Vanilla chai and Lavender with me today." Mintaka reached around for the small bag that held the tea bags while studying Astarte. Her uniform was most intriguing with the glowing ruins and what Mintaka assumed was some sort of armor. It reminded her somewhat of Pen, the senshi of war.

"Mintaka, then. Good to meet you; Astarte of Malice. Sounds a touch rough, but I promise I don't bite too hard... Unless you want me to." She offered a quick wink followed by a confident smile while she sat and smoothed her skirts for tea time. "Well! Since you've got so much to choose from..." Astarte rested her knuckles against her temple while she leaned slightly to the side, studying the cups with a measure of exhaustion. Contemplating her decision proved difficult when she felt the tendency to nod off every few seconds.

"Orange spice sounds just grand right now. I normally take it with just a dash of sugar, really, but I think I can hold off for now. With all the energy drinks I've been using lately, I'm quite certain another speck of sugar will sell me on diabetes. Not a fun one, that." Another couple slow blinks left Astarte dangerously close to falling asleep, so she forced herself to sit up in her chair and rest her forearms against the lip of the table.

"Mind telling me what you've got going on out here, Mintaka? It's not every day I find a fully-equipped cafe on a rooftop with a Sailor Scout for service. Seems a little dangerous, if you ask me. Something like this has got to be a touch cumbersome to take around with you, and I'm quite certain this little spectacle is more than enough to draw out a few Negaverse officers. And let me tell you, they're not terribly friendly people - especially when you go toe to toe with their frightful little watchdogs. I don't suppose you have any biscuits with you, dear?"

"Astarte of Malice?" Mintaka blinked, "What...What a unusual power? Form? Does it effect...Ah forgive me, I'm always curious and-" her face immediately reddened and she held out her hands, waving them a bit. "N..No thank you. I would prefer not to be...um bitten today. Thank you..for the warning." She set a hand on her heart and waited for the blush to disappear.

She let Astarte contemplate teas, and watched the other senshi with a strange curiosity. Was...the girl nodding off? Or very deep in thought. Tea was a very serious matter.

"Orange spice it is." She set upon making it and a small chuckle escaped, "A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, unless your medicine is of course 1000 spoonfuls of sugar." Energy drinks, the new bane of teenage and adult lives.

She blinked and turned to face Astarte, "Oh forgive me. I suppose this is a odd scenary hmm? Fortunately, I've been blessed in that most people I've had come, are ones who would like to talk and learn! Oh yes, here let me..." She poured Astarte's tea, and reached in to pull out the small cookies, laying it out for the girl. "Help yourself. Ah, as for this little set up. I'm not much of a fighter you see..." She began, "But I want to learn and to know. Tea, for all it's wonders, has been an age old tradition of peace talks and in general, making it easier to talk to people. You'd be surprised how often I've met knights, or the dark mirror courts and even negaverses who just want to talk. But I've been lucky so far." Mintaka flushed, "You're one of the few senshi though I've met, What brings you out tonight?"

"To be honest with you, I'm not terribly certain about the sphere of Malice. I've only ever seen some red laser shoot out of the palm of my hand like a James Bond parlor trick. Though," she paused as she pressed a finger to her chin, "there was that one time when I shot a general with it. He seemed terribly livid in the whole affair - left a scar on me, he did." She gestured to the tinted purple scar struck across her sternum. "What sort of power is Origami? Surely it's not a half dozen paper cuts, or enough cranes to make a wish..." From what she understood, senshi magic posed no jokes.

"Ho, if there was only a better way to stay awake... Certainly real sleep would help, but until then, Red Bull until it gives my blood sugar wings, right?" She chuckled, shortly before folding her hands about the cup and raising it toward Mintaka in a silent toast. The first sip drew a warm hum from her mouth as she closed her eyes to enjoy the flavor further. "It's been so long since I've had a good orange spice. I used to visit this specialty store in Britain where they handcrafted their own loose leaf teas, and my, were they to die for! I do miss them terribly here - a shame they never quite branched out across the pond. Not much I can do about that, I suppose. Really, though, tell me this isn't Stash or something. I'd about fall over dead in my chair." Another smile, another sip.

Astarte listened to her explanation behind the use of teas, cocking an eyebrow at the bizarre revelation that tea tied in with peace talks. However, in retrospect, that very premise seemed highly likely - much the same as the daily presence of demons and other spirits that interfere with one's natural fate. "Looks like it's done you a touch of good. You're not dead, and as far as I can tell, not scarred either. Learning is all well and good, as I've done quite a lot of it for my work, but what do you plan to do with that knowledge? Surely you're not going to talk your way into the war abating, but there's got to be some goal in there somewhere. Actually..." Astarte sat up, setting her cup in its saucer while she shifted full attention to Mintaka. "If you wouldn't mind, could you give me your opinion on those who come and talk with you? What's their drive in this war?"

"Left a scar on you?" Mintaka stopped in her preperations for tea, to stare at Astarte, "You poor thing! And shame on the general! Leaving a scar on a pretty lady like yourself is unacceptable. It's a shame I wasn't there, I'd have a few choice words for them." Starting with manners or how leaving scars was rude and uncouth. Mintaka breathed out, returning a smile to her face.

"Well.." She looked a bit sheepish, "It seems to be just that you know. I hold out my arms and the magic does the rest I suppose? It's like snow." That was the best explantion honestly. "It's like snowing paper shapes. Cranes, stars and flowers. Or summoning the paper already folded itself?" She frowned, "It seems like a terribly odd power, but it's nifty for passing messages or getting out of a tight spot."

She laughed, as the topic went back to energy drinks before nodding. "Red bull until your body doesn't know it's flying until you're up in the air. " She was pleased that Astarte liked it, fishing in her bag for the tin. "It's not stash, but it's not homemade either." She admitted, "My parents bring back tea from their travels all the time, it's sort of a gift for me since I enjoy it so much. I'm not sure where this brand is from." She again, admitted, "But it has by far been one of my favorites."

She smiled again, "Thank you very much and yes, not but a few touches of battles." She frowned, "I'm not particularly fond of battling or fighting, and am better at escaping to be honest." She paused, "I'm not sure, but it doesn't hurt to have the most information. I want to know what I am getting into, not what others tell me to do about it." She sat back, resting her hands in her lap. "It depends on who you talk too. But it boils down to most of their friends or themselves getting hurt and exacting revenge. The Dark Mirror court wants to go to space, find homes among our stars. Negaverse wants energy but some of them just want to do good for Earth. What they think is good for Earth. And I haven't talked to many white court...." She looked at Astarte sadly, "The White court, whether it be knights or senshi's don't seem to have any other reason in this war beyond that's what the moon princess wants. That's how little I know about my own side." She looked away, "It's a great ball of undiscovered information and I want to know about it all. From all sides."

"It was a bit of a heated moment, what with the building on fire and all that rot. Can't be terribly surprising, especially in the midst of a war from what I hear." While not her intention to sound wholly flippant about the matter, her dialogue often came in litotes. Inwardly she wondered if she should attempt a more americanized fashion of speech for occasions like these, but brushed it from her mind soon afterward. Now wasn't the time, not with a hot cup of tea and an attractive woman ripe for conversation.

Astarte blinked blankly at Mintaka, plainly too tired to even consider the benefits of an origami power. Snowing paper shapes... Now that's a blasted image. Whoever designs our powers must've been drunk for that one. Or high. Or some combination. Shame they didn't share...

"You know, I'm quite certain that Celestial makes the best chai tea I've tasted from filter bags, but I've never really been one for them. Loose leaf always suited me better. You should see my collection of infusers, actually - I've got all kinds of them by now, from all over England. One looks like a goldfish, another like a branch with a fruit, and this lovely antique silver infuser from my grandmother... That one's got to fetch a pretty penny by now. Silver's starting to tarnish, though. A shame, that. I should see about cleaning it up a touch..." She finally petered off from her digression, sipping her tea thoughtfully before conversation pulled her back to the topic at hand.

"I'll tell you what, Mintaka," Astarte began as she leaned forward in her seat. "I quite like you, really. You've got a proper head on your shoulders - you're not one to go about taking orders whenever someone of power happens to stroll by. Now I can't say that I've got the whole mess straightened out myself, but I can tell you what I know about the White Moon side of things. First of all, you're already aware that the Negaverse has a hankering for energy lately. Now, with Earth being where the lot of us live and all, we're not terribly fond of agents running about helter skelter pulling our relatives' starseeds and draining their energy. So far as I can tell, most of the White Moon I've met just want to protect themselves and their friends and keep everything as it was before the war started. It's more like the honest side to the Negaverse's goals, and we don't need to go stealing away anyone's energy to do it.

"I know there's a great old story behind it, since this war started about a thousand years ago, and I'd love to share, but... Honestly, I'm dead on my feet right now, and can't be arsed to remember all the details in their proper order. If you can fetch a cat, they'll have quite a bit more information than I do so far."

"Of course, I guess my ideal situation is not to be caught in that sort of mess. As such, I had been pulled away by another negaverser." Aurostibite, the sharer of cranes with her. She liked to think she could befriend him, if she was persistent enough. As such, her attempts seemed small and futile now.

"If it wasn't too much to carry around, I would most defenitly have loose leafs, especially to blend different flavors for everyone." She smiled, "I would love too one day! Can I assume that you are originally from England?" She backpedaled a bit, "You've got a bit of accent and your speech pattern is more formal english, which is not bad mind you, and very refreshing. I've never traveled beyond Destiny City, so I'm always curious about other places. Well I'm curious about everything. Oh? I can recommend a good place for Silver to be cleaned up?" Mintaka started patting her fuku, as if thinking she had pockets, looking down with a frown when she realized that 'duh' she didn't have pockets, she was powered up and looked back up when the conversation veered.

"Oh well, I'm flattered that you like me! That's the goal I suppose? I'd like to think I am quite enjoyable, though I have been known not to be." She laughed, waving her hand. "I like to keep an open mind I think. This is, after all suppose to be war. A complicated affair." She stopped chattering, listening intently to Astarte since she was speaking of order side of things, absorbing the words and filing them away.

"I see. It seems in order for me to better understand this war, I really should find out what started it. I gained a little insight from Zinkinite, as far as the war starting. It seems to be the same general idea. True love was mere seduction for more planets." She sighed, sipping her tea.

"Oh dear! Are you okay? Do you want me to escort you home?" That way Astarte wouldn't find herself in trouble and Mintaka could be assured that woman was safe and tucked away. "It's been terrible getting to sleep with all the dreams and nightmares going on, but perhaps I can give you some Lavender tea to help you sleep instead...?" she leaned down to reach over for the new tea packet.

Pulled away by another Negaverser... I wonder if they're trying to convert her. I don't see why; her powers aren't terribly useful and she expresses quite a lot of interest in non-combat for their ways. Perhaps it's just an act of goodwill. Hope so; I'd hate to see her go the way of the crazy train if I could help it. Not that the White Moon is much better. At least we have the freedom of choice here.

Astarte managed to guard her thoughts well enough while she spoke of England, gesticulations remarkably emphatic despite her state of exhaustion. For the moment, the tea sat forgotten on its saucer, its only indication of existence to her being the thick plume of steam warming her chin. "Oh yes, I grew up in England - mostly a londoner since I was a little girl. Beautiful city, terribly haunted. I've always been interested in the occult, and when I moved to my own flat I got in touch with a magazine and started investigating hauntings. I'm terribly certain that there's more hauntings in England than there are people... Course I spent a bit of time in Ireland too, not much, but that's a story for another day I'd say. Really, you should take the trip if the opportunity presents itself. A shame that we can't teleport like the Negaverse... Otherwise, we'd be there in a jiffy."

"Oh, and don't worry yourself about the silver. I've just got to get up off my lazy arse and have it cleaned, but..." She paused to yawn. "There's always so much to do around here..." Surely Mintaka realized it already.

"I probably don't need to warn you of this, but take Zinkenite's words with a grain of salt. Do the same for everyone. Ultimately, I'd say, the past is a touch worthless right now. See if you can't ferret out the start of this war, our war - because I can guarantee you it won't be some sappy love story. Everyone's got a sordid past here, from what I can tell. I think it just falls to us individually to determine how bloody we want our hands to get." Afterward she sipped her tea gingerly.

After polishing it off, she set the empty cup atop its saucer with a delicate clink. "Oh, I doubt I'll need an escort, Dear. Many thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't want you tripping over the pig sty that I lovingly call my flat. I should probably head home about now, before I tip over myself." Standing, she pushed her chair in with little drag across the roof. Drumming her fingers across the back twice, she offered Mintaka a smile. "Good to meet you, Mintaka. Stay safe up here, if you can. And don't let youma drink your tea; it's a waste if I ever knew one." Afterward she turned away, pausing halfway to the parapet.

"Oh, and before I forget... Look up the guardian cat Ash if you can. She'll tell you much more than I can about the past, if you're still interested in that sort of thing. Good cat to know. Ta-ta now!" After offering a wink, she leapt from the parapet into the streets below, nearly landing on a car in the process.

She knew, then, that it'd be a long walk home.
