COMING SOON
MY BEAUTIFUL ENEMY by Cory Taylor– Available August 5th 2014
A realistic account of a man in World War II and his infatuation with the a young Japanese man.
'I was blinded by his beauty. In the one or two photographs I've kept of him I can still see it. He stares out of them almost miserably, as if his loveliness is an affliction. Not that I saw it that way, at least not in the beginning. In the beginning I thought it was a kind of miracle.' Arthur Wheeler is haunted by his infatuation with a Japanese youth he encountered in the enemy alien camp where he worked as a guard during WW2. Abandoning his wife and baby son, Arthur sets out on a doomed mission to rescue his lover from forced deportation back to Japan, a country in ruins. Thus begins the secret history of a soldier at war with his own sexuality and dangerously at odds with the racism that underpins the crumbling British Empire. Four decades later Arthur is still obsessed with the traumatic events of his youth. He proposes a last reunion with his lost lover, in the hope of laying his ghosts to rest, but this mission too seems doomed to failure. Like Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence and Snow Falling On Cedars, My Beautiful Enemy explores questions of desire and redemption against the background of a savage racial war. In this context, Arthur's private battles against his own nature, and against the conventions of his time, can only end in heartache.

But the Creeper's violence is escalating and there's no pattern, no clue as to how he's getting in, and no clue as to who's next. Until Jane Webster gets a call to the helpline where she volunteers. It's meant to be a confidential service and Jane is torn - it could be a hoaxer, but the soft voice at the end of the line has the ring of truth about it. He says he loves these women - but it's a love that ends in blood. When Jane tells the police, it should be the lead that Zoe needs - but it only pulls her further into a case that is already taking her dangerously close to the past she's never fully escaped. For Jane, Zoe and all the other young women of the city, suddenly nowhere is safe. Particularly their own bedroom at the dead of night.
WALKING ON TRAMPOLINES by Frances Whiting – Available 1st August 2014
A tale about growing friendships, change and growing up.
From the day Annabelle Andrews sashays into her classroom, Tallulah 'Lulu' de Longland is bewitched: by Annabelle, by her family, and their sprawling, crumbling house tumbling down to the river.
Their unlikely friendship intensifies through a secret language where they share confidences about their unusual mothers, first loves, and growing up in the small coastal town of Juniper Bay. Their lives become as entwined as Annabelle's initials engraved beneath the de Longland kitchen table.
But the euphoria of youth rarely lasts, and the implosion that destroys their friendship leaves lasting scars and a legacy of self-doubt that haunts Lulu into adulthood.
Years later, Lulu is presented with a choice: remain the perpetual good girl who misses out, or finally step out from the shadows and do something extraordinary. And possibly unforgiveable.
It's not how far you fall, but how high you bounce.

MUST READS ON WATTPAD
THE CUPID SERIES by GermanSam
Starting with the first unlikely romance in ‘Cupids Granddaughter’ all the way through to the second staring Peyton’s two children “Athena’s Enigma” and ending with “Roman Roommate” through the eyes of her daughter.
All three are fantastically written and although filled with cheesy romance ideas you can’t help but smile at the simplicity of each of the relationships as each character finds their soul mate. Staying true to the greek mythology, German Sam has created a unique universe in which greek gods and their children appear to be no better than we are at relationships and finding ‘The One’.
If you want to read something cheesy and cute this trilogy is for you, but it doesn’t stop there. Because of such a high demand for her story to continue GermanSam has created short stories about her characters everyday lives which currently has 36 tales about the characters she has created including Eros and his wife.
BLUE MOON SERIES (boyxboy) by Robokitt
Up to its fourth book already this particular series is full of sweetness and drama. Firstly boyxboy story this tale throws in the added tension of a soon-to-be alpha werewolf who happens to find a mate in another boy. A hard hitting novel though filled with cliches about gay bullying and how one act can change it all.
Follow the lives of the first werewolf pack to have 2 alpha-males, one of which is human.
I have only read the first of this series but so far I am really enjoying it. The first story left me wanting to know more and follow the lives of the two main characters and also the lives of the other werewolves. It may not be in every ones tastes but I, myself, do enjoy a bit of cliche every now and again.

Author of the Month
Kelley Armstrong
Kelley Armstrong
Kelley Armstrong, author of over 25 novels and 8 different novel series, is our Artist of the Month.
“I’ve been telling stories since before I could write. My earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, mine would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to my teachers’ dismay. All efforts to make me produce “normal” stories failed. Today, I continue to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in my basement writing dungeon.”
- Kelley Armstrong
This talented author was first published in 2001 with her first book from the ‘Otherworld’ series titled ‘Bitten’. When I first read this story in early 2005 I had no idea what to expect other than it was a tale about werewolves which I have such a strong adoration for in novels. I was hooked on the very first page and knew I needed to own the entire series no matter how long it took me. The characters were deathly alluring and beautiful and the world that Armstrong created was where I wanted to be. It had action, mystery, romance, supernatural characters and it was so fast paced that you just never wanted to put the book down. The series has recently been finished in 2012 with it’s thirteenth book ‘Thirteen’ a befitting title for the final book. I’m thankful that I can easily revisit old characters when the series has ended in her spin off stories of the beloved character living in the Otherworld books, bringing a further 16 books to the series.
If you haven’t already you should read a book or even short story by Kelley Armstrong, especially if you love urban fantasy and supernatural stories with a twist. You won’t find any sparkling vampires or oversized pet wolves in her stories. Prepare to go to the darker side of the supernatural, just how they should be.
