Cale lay sprawled on a grassy knoll, she had walked and walked and then ran. Ran from the disappointing past into the boring, lonely future. Go on a quest to find love, nearly catch it..then it flops and you are left like a deflated green and white balloon. She sighed. Bah, maybe she was meant to be a spinster, how had her sister gotten so lucky with her walking metal detector. Its not like Cale hadn't tried! She was starting to get a little mad, apparently not even she could sulk for forever. She ground her hoof into the ground squishing an ant that had been wandering past the wrong cranky mare, she felt a little bad but better she squish him before he bit her....

Nitya yawned as he trudged up the grassy knoll, feeling oddly drowsy. Maybe he'd find a nice tree to take a nap under... But what was this? Or rather, who was this? Nitya couldn't help staring for a few moments at the beautiful green-and-white angel in front of him. He wasn't dreaming was he? Those mushrooms he ate earlier didn't cause hallucinations, did they? He stepped forward with the intention of introducing himself, but after two steps his hoof caught on something and he tripped. He let out a whinny of surprise as he went tumbling right past the heavenly mare and down the other side of the hill. He grunted when he finally came to a halt at the foot of the knoll, winded and a bit disoriented. That was not part of the plan...

Cale heard footsteps mid-sulk and looking up she saw a blue stallion...just in time for him to trip past her. Her brows furrowed as she saw the ant hill..so she couldn't even squish her own ants now?!
Then again, the look on his face had been quite priceless and it drew her out of her melancholy, borderline rare fit of rage, and for that she might just...crane her neck over to peek at the stallion. Where had he landed? She peered over the edge.

Nitya looked up at the mare with a dazed, emerald gaze as he rolled to his feet--and clumsily tumbled back off of them again because he once again wasn't paying attention to his feet. Sighing, he forced his gaze to the ground as he stumbled to his feet a second time. He shook his head to clear it before looking up at the mare again. He smiled sheepishly in embarrassment. Not his ideal first impression by any standard. "Hello," he greeted once he was steady. He wasn't sure what else to say yet that wouldn't be completely embarrassing to one or both parties.

Cale promptly forgot about her ants.. "Hello, are you okay? Are you sick? Perhaps a fever?" She was worried despite herself, darn him. She topped the hill sure footed and went down to circle him. "Perhaps an injured leg?"
She inspected them carefully and besides being rather masculine, there appeared to be nothing wrong with his legs, she lifted her head and tilted it to the side. What had just happened? It couldn't have been her could it? She had just been sitting there squishing ants. Males were just so confusing, it couldn't have been her, there had to be something wrong with him..maybe she could help...or find someone who could.

Nitya fought the urge to grimace. "Yes, I'm fine," he reassured her, a little embarrassed. "No, my legs aren't injured--just distracted." He smiled. "But thank you for your concern, Miss...?" This wasn't the way he'd planned on getting her name; he had hoped to introduce himself in the more traditional way... Well, there was no use crying over spilled milk. He would make conversation with what he had.

"Miss ...Cale." She said eyeing him up, Well he had a pleasant voice, so that was a point in his favor. She wondered what she would be like without the baggage of her past, she was afraid she had gotten a bit wary and cynical with experience.
Though at night she still wished for a warm side to lean into.

"Miss Cale," Nitya repeated. He stood there for a moment, lost in the sky captured in those eyes before he pulled himself back to reality. "Ah, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Nitya." Smiling sheepishly, he continued, "I'm sorry you had to see that spectacle I made. I'm not usually that clumsy." He almost explained what had happened, but it was so cliche-sounding that he decided against it. Beautiful as it was, there was something... hard in that gaze. Wariness, perhaps, or maybe otherwise upset?

She smiled in relief, so he was not normally like that, good. Her smile softened her face considerably. "Nitya," she said testing out the name, her voice attaining a more melodic quality then that which she had been speaking in before. "Does it stand for anything?" She asked curiously. She couldn't remember if her name had stood for anything, but she thought that something like Nitya's might have a different meaning then just a name.
She tried hard to remember what her own name meant, and she remembered that if you messed with the spelling and drew from different languages you got something like Archer Sight Hawk, it was her choice weather she released the string.

Nitya was relieved to see her features soften their level of hostility. At her question, he tried to think of the teasing his parents had caused him among the peers of his childhood. "It means 'always' or 'endless'," he replied. "My parents were trying to be punny, I suppose: my full name is Nitya Currenth." The endless current. Oh, how the other foals had teased him about that. But that was quite some time ago. He shrugged and smiled at the mare. There were worse names to have.
He tilted his head slightly as he thought. "Cale means 'faithful', doesn't it?" he asked, partially to himself. Was that the meaning? There were a few different ones, he was sure, but that sounded like it was one of them...

"I'm not sure, if you take a few languages and break down my name you get something like archer sight hawk, I like your name's meaning."
Endless current...he suited that name. She could tell there was more to this stallion and she wanted to find out more despite herself. Faithful, well she had never really gotten that chance had she? Since any dating she did have hadn't worked. Yeeeesh if she kept on like this she would be a grumpy spinster.
"So do you have any family? I have a few siblings around somewhere."

"Interesting," Nitya replied, and actually meant it. It was a unique combination of meanings.
Nitya thought about the question. "I suppose my mother's likely somewhere, but besides that, no. I don't have any blood siblings, but I do have someone that I have a brotherly relationship with." Even more pensive, he absently added, "I haven't seen him in a while... he made a new friend and ran off to who knows where." Shaking his head to clear the thoughts of his pesky 'little brother', he asked, "What's your family like?" He was a little curious to know if real families were as he imagined them.

"Um well, I am closest to my sister Karia, and she has found herself someone to love, meanwhile I went on a huge quest to find the same thing and came up with an ant squishing hobby. She seems happy, I expect they will mate soon and I will be an aunt, but not the squishy kind."
Oh excellent, just meet the guy and give him your life story. Another voice in her head answered. Well he better know beforehand what he is getting into. She tried to shush them up, true she had good points but she wanted to focus on the stallion in front of her, not her myriad dating problems.

Nitya cracked a smile at the ant-squishing comment. "It must be nice to have a sibling to be close to. The one I think of as my little brother, Salil, he took the first excuse he could to get away from me." He shook his head. "Though I'm surprised you haven't found love, Miss Cale. Truthfully, I..." He paused, unsure if he wanted to continue. "No, nevermind. It sounds so awfully cliche and I've made enough of a fool of myself in front of you today," he decided aloud.
It was a true cliche, but with what she'd said about failing the quest for love and her guarded behavior before... well, he doubted that Cale would believe him even if he told her.

She smiled softly, she liked that he batted around the truth, other males had been a bit blunt and then fell through.
"This Salil sounds like a nob Nitya." She said succinctly. And he did. Surely this stallion did not posses the power to drive others away thus. He seemed in light of the rescent happenings quite bearable thank you very much.
"It is nice to have a sibling, especially when she is not out hunting shinies, those two are obsessed with them." She shook her head, " Can't get nothing out of Kivosk when hes on the hunt."
