The school year was coming up around the corner, which brought a mixture of joy and annoyance to Maggie Lawrence. On one hand, she sort of ruled the school -- at least, she was popular and powerful -- and had been missing the daily grind of seeing people on a regular basis, people that were her age and not senshi. On the other hand, the second the school year started, Maggie's time would become suddenly limited. Senshi or not, homework was alive and well at the Horizon Institute for Technology and Science, which made the tempestuous teenager miss Meadowview more and more each day. She'd barely gotten her start there when her family moved her away to California. And the only reason her mom hadn't flipped when she returned was because of her acceptance to HITS. It was a double-edged sword.

On the bright side, Maggie still had her friends from Meadowview, especially since most of them had gone to elementary and middle school together. One of those people was JR -- her former flame, a seventh grade love affair that rocked the Twittersphere... at least until Maggie's mother announced she was too young to date and too young to claim to have such intense feelings as she was. A few over-emphatic tweets were enough to send her mother reeling and so, after only a few weeks, JR and Maggie went back to being friends with a few kisses, some hand-holding, and a near play-by-play relationship timeline thanks to Maggie's insatiable tweeting under their respective belts.

When Maggie moved to California, they had kept in touch through texting and social media. Now that she was back, the pair could actually do stuff together again. Today, that meant going to Meadowview's charity football scrimmage. Former members of the football team of all ages were split into two teams, and all ticket and concessions sales went to the DC Orphanage. Maggie's mom had donated extra money for VIP seats... and then promptly got too caught up in work to go with her daughter. With her stepdad at the coffee shop, that meant Maggie had a free ticket and no one to go with.

Enter JR.

Maggie passed the time waiting for JR to arrive by reading up on Perez Hilton and scrolling through her friend's recent photo upload from her family's vacation in Greece. Her fingers, recently painted, plucked her crystal-encrusted cellphone from her desk, found JR's number, and texted:

mom's holed up in her office. left the backdoor by the pool unlocked, just come upstairs. xoxo mags
