It had been such a terrible ordeal to go through. The wind had picked up suddenly and though she had tried to get to shore the wind fed waves had grabbed her as if she were a weightless leaf and tossed her further out to see. It seemed that no matter how hard she had swam the sea had the advantages, allowing her to swim a few feet before pulling her back twice as far. The mare battled the waves for as long as she could, trying in vain to reach the shore. She had tried to call out for help, even though she was too far away from shore for anyone to hear, add to that the fact that the wind yanked her voice away the moment it left her mouth and that no one in their right mind would still be on the beach in weather like this. It was hopeless. She was tiring and still being pulled out further to sea.

Accepting that this was the way she was to die Ichiou closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable to happen.

A gritty feeling on her face roused Ichiou some time later. She was disoriented and couldn't entirely remember what had happened. She remembered wind, and water and not much beyond that. Slowly opening her eyes the mare lifted her head off of the sandy beach. It took her a moment to focus on her surroundings. She had been sure she would die...but now, she felt a sense of joy that she had survived. But that was quickly squashed as she took in the beach and it's surroundings. This was not her home, she was almost completely certain of that, yet she couldn't remember where her home was.

As he walked along the beach Uroko couldn't help but notice the signs of the latest storm - driftwood, seaweed, uprooted vegetation, yes the storm last night had been harsh and brutal but that was the nature of the Oceans, a raging tempest one moment and then calm serenity the next. If one looked upon the sea now, blue and serene and ignored the obvious thrashing of the shoreline why... they would never dream that such wild weather had passed through only a few scant hours earlier.

Uroko was glad the weather had cleared however, the way the wind had howled through the night he had been worried that his scouting mission along the beach would have to be postponed and he hadn't been keen on the idea of being so long away from the herd. Thankfully it seemed that he was going to be able to get along with his mission and cheerfully picked his way through the debris.

It wasn't until he was almost upon the mare that he noticed her, but to be fair she had been mostly hidden behind a pile of driftwood and her colors blended rather well with the white sand and seaweed which littered the area. If she hadn't moved he might have even walked right on past her. He was about to utter a surprised good morning, perhaps crack a joke about sleeping on such a debris ridden beach but a second look at her made it fairly clear that the mare had not been merely napping. She looked rather rough... bedraggled almost, kind of like a nearly drowned wolf he had once seen actually. Concerned he stepped closer.

"Hello...do you need some help?" He asked, brow furrowed slightly "Were you caught in the storm?" She must have been, he didn't see any signs of some other dispute that would leave her in such a condition.

Someone had come upon her, and Ichiou used what little energy she had to get to her hooves. She looked at the stallion. Did she need help? Very much so, but she wasn't sure how or if he would be able to help her at all. Her eyes narrowed while looking at him, studying him closely for anything she might recognize. Could she be home but simply have forgotten? No, she was certain this was not her home and even more so she was certain she had never seen this stallion before. His questions tumbled around in her head. There were obvious answers to both of those but she was have trouble finding her voice.

Her legs shook slightly as she stood there, a remainder of the stress she had been through while being tossed about in the sea. Her gaze shifted to the water, it's calmness was like a mockery, it had been so rough, impossible to get out and yet now one would never know what it had been doing last night, what she had had to endure out there. "I..." She began to say turning her attention back to the stallion, her voice rough from all the yelling she had done last night and all the saltwater she had swallowed. "I think I was...but I can't remember clearly." She finally told him. It felt silly to admit that she couldn't remember and yet she thought she had been. "Do I...know you?" She asked after a moments pause and then looked around at the beach again. "Where am I? This doesn't look like my home."

Uroko studied the mare as she rose, the way her legs shook and the roughness of her voice seemed to fit with his theory about her being caught in the storm - though it was slightly concerning that she didn't seem to remember any of it..or even if she knew him, which she did not. "NO my Lady, we have never met." He told her "And I am pretty sure this is not your home as I've walked this beach many time and surely we would know each other if it was." He told her gently.

Somewhat clueless about what to do for her, not being a healer, the stallion decided that she might well be in shock from her ordeal and that with rest, water and food she might recover..certainly those seemed to be the most pressing of issues and if she did not seem better after that - well he could seek a healer out. She didn't seem to be in any immediate danger health wise at the very least and so this was probably a safe choice. "Perhaps you are just in shock - no doubt it was a trying situation..I can take you to somewhere you can rest, drink..perhaps eat something?" He offered kindly. It seemed he was doomed to forsake his mission after all - but he would be forgiven he was sure, it wasn't like he could leave the mare out here alone in her condition.

Another frown tugged at her lips. So she didn't know him, which only confirmed that she was not from here and that her memory was fuddled. If she did not live here, then where did she live? How far away was her home? How would she get there? What would become of her if she never remembered? These and many other questions tumbled through her head as she stood there. At least her legs had stopped shaking so much, but they were still feeling a bit weak. She cast her gaze around the beach once more. If she ignored the damage that the storm had brought on it was quite a beautiful place, it did remind her of her own home but now she could see a few differences here and there.

Her thoughts were pulled back to the stallion as he spoke once more. Yes...I think that would be a good idea." Her throat was still sore so a drink would be welcome...and she couldn't recall the last time that she had eaten anything. A rest would also help her poor body recover, while she wasn't feeling quite as weak as when she had first gotten to her hooves it was obvious by the shaking and the soreness that she would need time to recover. Glancing back at the ocean, the thing she loved but currently hated for putting her into this situation she spoke once more. "Ichiou." She said and then turned to look at him. "Ichiou...is my name."

It was good to see the mare becoming more stable - she was still in rough shape but her legs seemed to be steadying somewhat and she even seemed to recall her name. Uroko was sure that that was a step in the right direction and after a bit of rest and food and re-hydration well..he was hoping she would be back to her old self. Whoever that old self happened to be.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Ichiou, I am Uroko Banggai...though most just call me Uroko." He told her with a polite bob of his head. "I know of a place not far away where there is fresh water and grass to eat." He told her in a reassuring voice "If you need help I can steady you on the way there." He further offered since it seemed her legs were still a bit unsteady, while he loved the ocean she could certainly be a cruel mistress at times and it seemed this poor mare had gotten the worst of it all. "It is just over that ways a bit." He told the mare, motioning with his muzzle over the sand dunes towards the scrub grass and treeline.

"Uroko." She said, repeating his name and hoping to stick it to her memory. If she could at least remember his name perhaps it would lead to her remembering other things once she had recovered from her spell in the sea. She wanted to say it was nice to meet him, but given the circumstances that had led to him finding her here on the beach in such a state she just couldn't manage to utter those words.

Ichiou looked to where he had indicated that she could rest, eat and drink. It wasn't all that far and while her legs weren't one hundred percent yet she was certain that she would be fine. "I should be alright." She told him and then gave her body a bit of a shake to rid her pelt of the remaining sand and grit it had accumulated in her time laying on the beach. She began to walk, slowly because she didn't quite fully trust her legs, but they held steady. After a few steps she stopped, glanced over her shoulder at the ocean, shook her head and went back to walking. It was so hard to believe she was walking away from what had happened to her - even if the details were vague in her mind, she knew it was something that could have easily killed her.

Uroko watched the mare carefully as she took her first few steps - it wasn't unheard of for a Soquili to be more wounded then they realized while they were in shock, he had seen mares and stallions run on legs which were far to injured to allow for such a thing once the adrenaline of the moment wore off. It seemed that she really was okay however and true to her works she seemed capable of making it there on her own, without his steadying help.

Confident that she wasn't about to collapse and that she would make it there - albeit slowly - on her own Uroko moved ahead so that he could lead the way. He took care to chose the easiest path he could find, trying to avoid places where the sand was particularly unstable or burdensome to walk through but kept an ear flicked back towards the mare to keep track of her progress without looking like he was being over protective - something he had been accused of more then once.

Now that she was up and moving a decent amount of the fear and stress she had been feeling was starting to flow away. She was still afraid, for she didn't know where she was or how to get home, but at least this are was similar enough to her home for her to feel comfortable. As she followed Uroko across the beach her ears turned back listening to the sound of the waves lapping against the sandy shore. In this moment it sounded to her like the ocean was laughing at her, mocking her lack of memories and her inability to get home. Ichiou let out a small snort at that thought. She would show the ocean, once she had rested and recovered she would figure out where she was, where she came from and how to get from here to there.

Her eyes lifted from the sand before her and focused on Uroko once again. He had mentioned earlier that he had never seen her in all his travels on this beach. Oh sure she could remember that but not where she came from. Ichiou shook her head to refocus her thoughts. If he traveled here often did that mean he lived here? Had she washed up in his home? She bit her lip for a moment trying to decide whether to ask the questions or not, and finally they spilled out of her. "So...do you live here? On this beach? Do you live alone...or is there a herd?" Oh no, what if she had entered a herds land and they didn't take kindly to strangers? That couldn't be the case, right? Uroko seemed nice...but what if he was nice just to lure her into a trap. For a moment she thought about fleeing, but honestly Ichiou doubted she would get far considering she was still feeling weak from her ordeal in the ocean.

Uroko tried to keep a close eye on the mare in case she needed his help without seeming to hover and make her nervous - it was a task that was a lot harder then it sounded but he thought he was doing alright since she started talking and seemed to be relaxing a little bit. His ears flicked at her questions for a few moments.

"I live in the area with some friends." He told her after a few moments, they called themselves a herd but they were small and mostly a family affair and he considered it more a close group of friends then anything else. It seemed more special that way. "They are very nice however so you need not worry about anything." He assured her, having traveled a fair bit in his life he knew that unexpectedly entering a herds territory could be somewhat nerve wracking and he didn't want her to get upset, not when she was just starting to recover from her shock.

Her ears flicked at his words. He lived with friends. It made her wonder about her own friends. How many had she had? What were their names? More importantly, what would they do when they realized that she was missing? Part of her hoped they would try to find her and bring her back, but another part of her wanted them to just forget about her. She wasn't sure where that latter thought had come from, and it made her shudder a bit. Perhaps it was her own lack of memories that was making her bitter and thus thinking that way.

Of course when he told her that his friends were nice she couldn't help but let out an audible sigh of relief. As long as he was telling the truth, then that was a good thing. But now that she knew this she wasn't sure what else to say. She was a stranger in a strange and yet somewhat familiar land who couldn't remember much other than her name and vague details of what had happened to put her in this position. "I..." She began but then realized she wasn't sure what she wanted to say. A frown tugged at her lips. "I wish I could remember more." She grudgingly mumbled, though it she wasn't sure if she was saying it to herself or to Uroko.

Uroko was at a loss, how could he comfort someone when he wasn't really sure about her situation at all, he couldn't very well assure her that her memories would come back when he wasn't sure about that at all, it would be a lie even if it might be a comforting one. Frowning slightly he tried to think of something, anything that he might say to make things easier on her. She needed to rest and recover..not spend her time worrying about anything else.

"Everything will be okay." He finally stated though it was somewhat of a hollow comfort it was the only one he could offer because in time he was sure that things would be okay - if she got her memories back then she could return home and continue her life and if she didn't...well it would be hard but she would adjust and make new memories, Soquili were resilient and built to move forward in life regardless of the challenges set before them.

She couldn't help but smile at his words. He was a stranger and yet he had come to help her and was doing his best considering the situation. Ichiou knew there wasn't much he could say or do at this point, after all he knew as much about her situation as she did - which was next to nothing. But none the less she was appreciative of his help and his presence. If he hadn't come by when he had...well she wasn't sure what she would have done. How long would it have taken her to figure out she was indeed lost? Thinking about that, she was beginning to realize things were as bad as she first had thought them to be. Yes, she was lost, an unknown distance from home and could barely remember anything at this point, but at least she had Uroko to help her find food, water and some shelter to rest in.

Still the loss of her memories was hard to accept. She could only hope that with some rest and food that they would return. Once she fully remembered who she was and where she had come from then she could work on figuring out how to get back there. Her eyes moved from the area around them back to Uroko. "Thank you...for helping me." She knew that not everyone would simply stop everything they were doing to help a stranger, but he had and she was grateful for it.

Uroko gave the mare a warm look as she thanked him, really what else could he have done? It would take a rather cruel creature to just walk past someone who was so obviously in need of help as this mare had been and while Uroko had been called many things in his life, cruel had never been one of them.

"Your welcome." He told her with a sincere tone. "Once you have rested, if you still need a place to stay and further recover I'm sure that you would be most welcome in my little group of friends - they are fairly easy going and accepting of newcomers." Besides he could hardly let her just wander off without knowing who she was if her memories failed to return right away, that could be potentially hazardous and what if her memories started to return and they were less then pleasant? IT would be terrible to let her relive such things all alone. No it would be better if she was at least among friends should such a thing occur - even if they were relatively new friends. Although perhaps he was just being selfish in wanting her to stay around, she was intriguing and while she still looked a bit bedraggled thanks to her ordeal the stallion could see that there was a pretty mare underneath.

Her smile grew a bit. It was nice to be helped and accepted so openly. While she was looking forward to resting and, hopefully, recovering from what she had been through, Ichiou also wanted to meet his friends. If they were anything like Uroko then she would certainly be happy to meet them. But the idea of meeting more strangers when she knew so little about herself and the land she was in made her feel uneasy. How would she answer the questions they would inevitably ask her? A frown tugged at her mouth once more. Not having all her memories was a daunting thing.

"I would like to meet them." She finally said after a long pause. As much as she wanted to hide away from everyone until her memories returned she knew that meeting others would be a good thing, even if it would likely be stressful to begin with. Who knows, maybe being around others would help her recover her memories and her confidence more quickly.
