It was like a whole different world, seeing Eowyn at night. It was a lot cooler for one, something that made it a lot easier on Eyphah as he flew about on the hunt, and the way that the sky sparkled over head, well it made even a monster like him happy. He was heading back toward the caves that his friends and clan were standing in, feeling as though his day of hunting Mara were over. There would be plenty to do tomorrow, this he knew for certain because the Mara seemed to be growing in numbers these days. He was worried about his family, felt that they really should be moved somewhere else, somewhere safer, but where was safe these days? At least from what he'd seen and heard nowhere could really be deemed as 'safe' so the best that they could do was hold their ground and keep up the fight for as long as they could. It was dangerous, sure, but even before the Mara had arrived Eowyn was a dangerous place.
Within Eowyn there were various sorts of dragons, a lot of different sorts of two-legs, the Ordin, and all manner of various beasts, all of which were vying for power to survive in such a desolate place. Still, as dangerous as it was to live in Eowyn Eyphah felt no desire what so ever to move, not permanently at least. Sure he enjoyed hunting trips to the various other continents but he would never want to stay on any particular one permanently. If anything he was happy right where he was. He knew the lay out of the place, where the various oasis were located, and where to go when he wanted a good dragon fight, it was perfect. A shame that the Mara were mucking things up so badly. It made his ability to travel and hunt tasty creatures very limited because what he needed to do out weighed what he wanted to do. His family came before his own personal desires he had been told. It was one of those things that, while he found it annoying, he also understood it. He couldn't let the Mara mess up what was his and even if he wasn't in command of their clan he would still protect it with all of his might.
So deep was he in thought that Eyphah almost missed something moving down below, a sight that he wasn't all that surprised to see thought it still irked him. There were Mara on the move, even at night? He supposed that the fact that they weren't exactly living aided them in being able to march all day and night, huh? It put the more squishy, blood filled things in a lot more danger being able to do such a thing he thought to himself as he started to circle them far overhead. He was a touch exhausted, he had spent the day flying around, hunting, and killing Mara after all. Anyone would be tired after that... but he couldn't just let these ones go passed. If he did, if he let them live, then they would just end up on his door step and his clan would be in danger. He would need to take advantage of the dark, of what he was, and see about picking off the Mara one by one when it was harder to see. Best that he stuck to the ground to if at all possible, he did have some rather bright coloring on the undersides of his wings and belly after all. The last thing he wanted was for them to notice him because of that, not that Mara seemed to spend a particularly large amount to time looking up even though they really should. Didn't they know there were dangerous things flying around in the sky? Namely him he thought to himself, giving a toothy grin as he spiraled his way down so that he could land silently on the ground.
Once he'd landed in the warm sand he closed his wings to his back, hiding the red coloration on the, hunkered down close to the still warm sand, and started creeping forward toward his still oblivious opponents. So long as he was careful he should be able to deal with them easily enough, he just couldn't rush in full speed ahead, especially given that it was a bit difficult to see in the dark. He set to shuffling forward, reaching out with his forefeet, hooked his claws into the Metal Mara in the back, and dragged it away from the group. It wasn't really able to make all that much noise before he had severed it's metal head from it's body, tossing said head off to the side. He'd collect them later, as well as any interesting loot they might drop. For the time being he had more important things that he could be doing, namely finishing off the rest of them. The idea of being a stealth predator was something that he felt could be fun. Sure, he much preferred diving in head first, claws flying, but best that he take on this particular battle a bit more carefully. He didn't want to get overwhelmed by Mara he hadn't noticed because it was too dark to see that instead of five that there were fifty or something equally as... well, appealing. He couldn't help but to wonder for a moment if he could take on fifty of them. It was a thought he shoved aside for now. He'd debate that with himself later, for now he had a real four Mara to fight as opposed to fifty hypothetical ones.
The next Mara that he took on was another of the metal sorts, though he gritted his teeth slightly when this time, instead of a more swift death, dealing with this one ended up with a lot of creaking and twisting metal sounds. It got the attention of the other Mara that heard the sounds and he was forced to rush to one side as they approached their fallen and now headless ally before they started to talk amongst themselves in rough and hushed tones. Eyphah did his best to listen in but due to their gravely tones, no pun intended, he couldn't quite make out much. What they were saying was that they knew someone was obviously out there and they were going to be using drastic measures to take him down. Drastic, huh? If he had to guess probably using that accursed magic of theirs to try to figure out where he was, huh? Not a thought that he liked the sound of since it would be that much more of a pain to deal with them if they were both hard to see as well as flinging magic about. He would need to see about dealing with them before they were able to pull out such magic he decided, quickly charging forward toward where they were gathered up, talking to each other.
Lunging forward he was quick to crash into the back of one of the Mara, a Dark Mage Mara he realized only after landing on it, and his momentum caused it to crash into another of the Mara, a Crafter Mara, and both of them hit the ground in a heap. Pinning the raging, flailing Mara down he snapped his tail out in a wide arch, removing first the arms and then the head of the Dark Mage Mara that was still standing as it started to conjure up one spell or another, "I think not." He spat out, not about to deal with their accursed magic! Stupid stuff! The fact that he wasn't able to use attack magic made him dislike it when his enemies were able to, as if they shouldn't use it when he couldn't or something. No matter, at least he had to the ability to tear them apart piece by piece he thought to himself... though it remained a shame that they were bloodless. It would make the hunting of them a whole lot more fun if they weren't... but no matter, he'd hunt some dragons later to make up for it, they were always quite squishy.
Turning his attention back to the Mara that he had pinned he said, "It really is a shame, you should have been marching North or something, I wouldn't have to rip you to pieces if you had." He said, barring his teeth at the pair of Mara in a big, wide, and devilish smirk before he set to work on the dismantling process. Once he had the last two taken apart he hopped off of them, shook off, and set about gathering up the various things that belonged to him from this battle. Once he had found the five heads that were sort of strewn about the battlefield, as well as a few interesting trinkets here and there, he was ready to return home. He wanted nothing more then to get there, toss these heads onto the pile, and get himself a nap. Once he'd slept and gotten a quick healing session he would be on his way again, back to the battlefield.
