Name: Naomi Dutrow

Augmentation(s): Evenly spread against all opponents. Naomi has rejuvenating augmentations to keep her body at the same age regardless of how old she gets. She has sub-dermal implants that allow her to resist any abilities that are meant to sap her strength, willpower, health or speed. She is also able to manifest her chain sword “Retribution” at any time and telekinetically control it. The blade itself is named “Retribution” and the chain is named “Sin”. In addition, Naomi has kinetic plates implanted in her bones that allow her to focus pure kinetic energy into her punches and kicks bring them to the level of any demon or WeaponMeister. This especially helps since Naomi has been highly trained in kickboxing and enjoys sparring with others.

Bio: Naomi was in the resistance force in the city where Clair first arrived after she killed her own parents. She was 13 years old when “Clara” contacted their small, dwindling, rag-tag organization with the promise that she could turn their fight around and help them win. The group was skeptical at first but with Clara’s cunning and charisma she managed to convince them to give her command after three successful missions against lower-class, weaker demons in less than three weeks. Despite her age, Naomi was part of the team that helped Clara fight and Clara was quickly impressed with the girl’s dedication, intelligence and combat prowess. The first years were the hardest, but Naomi didn’t give up or back down from their goal even when many others did. It wasn’t long before Clara made her one of her top Lieutenants in the resistance force.

Slowly, Clara and her small resistance group began to grow stronger and Naomi rose with Clara as a hero among humanity. When augmentation was invented and The Machinist Order founded Naomi was one of the first to undergo the process, becoming one of Clara’s first super-soldiers. Naomi’s great success as a test subject and on the battlefield was one of the main reasons the augmentation project was given the green light to begin full production. Even when other super-soldier Machinists rose to prominence, Naomi managed to stay head-and-shoulders above the others. She was on the battlefield with Clara the day she personally slew the demon overlord that earned her the title of “Saint”. She was also one of The Machinists that helped to hold off Mary Weiss from slaughtering more of the population in time for Saint Clara to reach and subdue her.

Naomi and Saint Clara continued to fight on the battlefield together up to this very day and they have saved each other’s lives numerous times. She is one of Saint Clara’s most reliable commanders and Saint Clara knows she can count on Naomi to get the job done. Even with Saint Clara’s psychopathic tendencies, Naomi is someone (and probably the only one) that she actually likes. Although, of course, this doesn’t mean that Saint Clara would hesitate for a second to sacrifice Naomi in order to achieve her goals. Though Naomi seems to be the least likely of The Machinists to suffer Saint Clara’s wrath and psychotic rages and even the precious few times that Naomi failed in her mission Saint Clara’s punishment for her was surprisingly light. Aside from Texas, Naomi is the only one who can approach Saint Clara without her permission and not be stopped by her bodyguards.

Although Naomi isn’t a powerhouse or savant on the battlefield her centuries of experience and dedication to the cause of human liberation make her one of Saint Clara’s deadliest agents. Through decades of practice, Naomi is able to rapidly use her abilities both in tandem and one after the other without breaking a step.



Abilities:

1. Kinetic Retribution: Although Naomi isn’t a powerhouse, she more than makes up for it with her finely honed techniques. One of her most-used abilities is Kinetic Retribution which allows her to telekinetically control her chain blade even when she’s not holding it. Naomi has virtually perfected this and is able to move it across the ground, walls, ceiling and even through mid-air with just her thoughts. The weapon can slither towards opponents at a rapid rate while Naomi is still able to keep her full range of motion. She can have her blade lunge or slash at her opponents while she attacks them at the same time and can use the chain to wrap around them or trip them up.

2. Kinetic Separation: Naomi is able to separate Retribution from Sin and use it like a regular sword while still controlling the chain telekinetically.

3. Sin and Retribution: Once Naomi uses kinetic separation she can hold Retribution in one hand and wrap Sin around her other arm. Sin can be used like a shield to counter and absorb hits while Retribution is used like a standard sword.

4. Chained in Sin: Naomi is able to kinetically control Sin to wrap around her entirely (giving her a foot or so of wiggle room). Naomi focuses her energy to create a forcefield using the chain, filling in the gaps between it with pure energy. The forcefield can deflect smaller long-range attacks, especially those that are fired in high quantities (hundreds of bullets or blades etc.) though stronger, more directed attacks can break through. She can use this move on allies as well.

5. Swallow Kick: Naomi can launch herself across the battlefield at blazing speed, reaching her opponent across a full room in less than a second. As soon as she’s close enough Naomi launches a double-kick towards her opponent’s torso or face. Unlike her normal attacks, Naomi focuses an extreme amount of kinetic energy into this double-kick. Therefore a landed hit will send any opponent flying.

But this isn’t the main purpose of the attack. Naomi usually reserves this attack for opponents who continually block or dodge her longer-range attacks. If this attack lands against a force-field or barrier the sheer power of the blast concussion will shatter it completely, leaving the opponent open for a follow-up attack. If the opponent is using a physical object to block the attack then the physical object is knocked slightly upwards (though not necessarily out of her opponent’s grip) usually exposing their torso to a follow-up attack. If the opponent attempts to dodge the attack they will find it much more difficult to move as the concussive force from being near the attack with pull them towards it and slow them down. The concussive force also disables any special abilities that allow the opponent to teleport or rapidly change location preventing them from escaping.

6. Kinetic Reflection: Using her armored boots and greaves Naomi can kick heavier projectiles away from herself, often reflecting them back towards her opponent. This can only be done with her boots and armored greaves/leggings and not with any other part of her body. If she successfully reflects the attack then she doesn’t take any damage from it.

7. Rocket Punch: By focusing her energy, Naomi can haul back and release a massive punch forward. The kinetic force of the punch can cause damage even if her fist doesn’t touch the opponent; as long as it’s close. Like Swallow Kick, Rocket Punch shatters any shield or barrier immediately upon impact but unlike Swallow Kick the force continues forward and the opponent can take damage from the same strike that broke the barrier. Unlike Swallow Kick the energy is fully directed forward and is unable to slow down anyone. This also means that anyone to the left or right of the hit won’t take any damage at all, though their clothes and hair may flutter at the force of the energy passing.

8. X Burst: Naomi takes a staggered stance and holds her arms up in front of her in the form of an X. After several seconds of focusing Naomi quickly jerks her hands down to her sides and a wave of kinetic force explodes outwards from her in every direction. Anyone or anything near her will be blasted backwards and any projectiles coming towards her will be destroyed when they hit the force radiating outwards. The kinetic energy reaches about 8 feet from her in every direction before it fades. This attack can also do minor damage and confuse or disorient an enemy. Smaller and/or lighter enemies are more vulnerable to this attack than larger, heavier opponents.


Personality: Despite everything she’s been through and her countless battles, Naomi remains one of the most optimistic and friendly Machinists in Saint Clara’s inner circle. Even though she understands that Saint Clara is psychopathic, she can’t help but care about her as a friend due to everything they’ve been through. In her heart of hearts she knows that The Machinist Order has been pulled in the wrong direction and Saint Clara is using it for her own ends, but she can’t bring herself to acknowledge or admit this. She prefers to spare opponents where she can and doesn’t like to kill but is perfectly willing to do it to protect the ones she loves. She is very warm towards Becky Dutrow, her youngest relative and takes it upon herself to watch over and protect her as she is still a child.

1. Becky loves being with her aunt and at one point she bought Naomi an orange baseball cap. Whenever they go out to have fun, Becky insists that Naomi wear the orange baseball cap tipped slightly to the side because it makes her look "cool". Naomi does it for Becky's sake but she always feels awkward while she does.

2. Naomi's favorite thing to bake is Strawberry cake.

3. When Saint Clara first showed up to lead the small resistance team that would grow into the Machinist Order, Naomi was one of the first to believe in her, seeing something in her that others didn't.

4. Mary Weiss taught Naomi how to ballroom dance.

5. Back before The Machinist Order was large, sometimes Saint Clara and Naomi would go out on the town together. They would both get hit on by guys, but if they were together it was almost always Saint Clara who was exclusively being hit on and Naomi was slightly jealous of this.
