Another night, another bar for Richard Moreau to become acquainted with. Traversing through Destiny City wasn't usually a hassle, even without his beloved car (may she still rest in peace under the rubble that was his store), especially when he held the ability to blip in and out of locations, so long as he knew where he was going. However, that posed a problem for him, as he wasn't quite sure where he wanted to be right now. He had powered up and did his patrols, painfully alone and quite lonely, but it was just too hot for that kind of activity tonight. He could have plucked starseeds left and right, but it required effort, and the bit of energy he did manage to grab before giving in to the desire to retreat from the heat had made him quite parched.

And what place would be best to quench one's thirst? A dive bar!

He knew plenty of them, especially around the area that circled his apartment, but tonight, he had little desire to go to the usual spots. It had become too familiar, too samey, and he fancied himself an adventurous man. An explorer when it came to clubs, casinos and dive bars, one never to shirk away from a new experience unless it looked like it was guaranteed instant death. But thus far, this place didn't look too bad.

It was a seedy place, in a seedy area, and he was certain that the name of the dive had the word 'seed' in it when he came in, but he wasn't paying all that much attention to it. Tonight, he was adventurous, and he felt pretty damn good to be out of that heat! All he wanted from this evening was a few good drinks, a pleasant time, and maybe a lady or gentleman to take home with him for the night.

He wasn't too picky...

I hope this is an acceptable start!

The name of the bar did not, in fact, have the word 'seed' in it. Rather, it was called Corvin's, and it was one of the few bars in town that Ariel did not visit in her alter ego.

While the bounty hunter wasn't fond of the owner of the dumpy place, it was two blocks from her apartment, played music she could dance to and had the hottest bartender chick who always gave her that sexy little smile when she walked in... It had become a regular stop off on nights she wasn't out energy gathering or on a run for a bail jumper. Which was why she was there tonight... faded jeans clinging to her hips as she danced with a cute little red head in a miniskirt. A nearly empty beer bottle dangled from her fingers and it was only the latest of a string of such she had been drinking, in between shots of harder stuff.

When the current song ended, so did the beer as Ariel tipped it into her red-lipped mouth, giving her partner a grin when she swallowed before she waved the bottle at her, turning to head for the bar for another. This buzz was nice, but an empty bottle could not be tolerated and if things went right, she was going to be leaving pretty soon with that red-head. When the tall woman reached the bar, she waved down the tender and got another bottle without needing to vocalize her wants... Julianne knew what she drank by now, another thing she loved about this place.

As Ariel lifted the bottle to her lips, she turned to sweep the bar with her eyes and ended up arrested by the man who had just come in through the door. She nearly choked at the familiar red hair and eyes, her own turning heated as she coughed to clear her throat and leaned back against the bar. Her dance partner was forgotten for the moment, a fact she would no doubt regret later.

The ******** is he doing here? She nearly growled as she took another drink of her beer, trying to get back her buzz. Maybe he had just dropped in to check things out and would leave again... as slim as that chance was. Him leaving was really the only option she could accept right now, because there was no way she was going to be able to ignore Richard and go back to enjoying her night.

The interior was alright, as far as Richard was concerned. He had been to far worse places in his college years, though perhaps in his later years he simply had grown to like more refined places. Yes, somehow Richard being too picky was the culprit in why he wasn't all that impressed with the scenery, but that wasn't why he was here. He was here for two things: booze, and someone to take home tonight. And both of which could usally be be found right at the bar, and so he made his way towards it, glancing around and soaking in the atmosphere as he did so.

There was already a tall and very beautiful woman waiting at the bar, so already he was going into the situation with a good feeling. He only caught a glimpse of her, but that was all he needed. Beautiful, raven black hair, red eyes that shone with the intensity of the sun itself. Yes, she was definitely a looker and she had a nice body to match.

Too bad she seemed to be choking on that drink of hers! He thought little of the cause- it tasted horrible, it went down the wrong way, she had just come back from dancing and had a heart palpitation? It was no concern of his, though he was ever the opportunist, and he offered her a napkin that he quickly swiped from the bar. "Are you alright? Here, you got some on your shirt..."

He'd be a classy gentleman. Ladies loved a classy gentleman, he told himself. And if that didn't work, there were other venues.

As much as Richard wanted to think that he had perfected his game, there were times when the odds simply weren't in his favor. Either the person he targeted was taken, or something so opposed to the idea of someone pining for them that they appeared too prickly and salty for his tastes (though, he had come to realize that for some, this was simply a defense mechanism and a trial to be faced before reaching their 'prize'. He understood the 'hard to get' crowd, but there was only so much work he himself was willing to do when there were easier people to cater to.) Sometimes, he just got unlucky.

The reaction he received when he offered her a chivalrous act caused him to arch a brow, but otherwise he managed to keep his pleasant demeanor intact. "Lost? Hm, perhaps so. I'm not usually found in places like this, but I figured that since I was in the neighborhood that I'd try something new."

What got his attention the most, however, besides her lovely rack, was her rather salty comment, on how this was her bar, and if that was meant to scare him away, it failed. If anything, it only made him all the more curious, though not necessarily in the sexual way. Just a genuinely curious way, for once. "Your bar? My apologies, I did not realize I was addressing the owner and if I was rude, then I do apologize. However, don't you think it's an honor then, that of the thousands of bars here in Destiny City, that I came to yours? Forgive me, but as a business owner myself, I would be flattered anytime someone chose my establishment over the countless others."

If chivalry didn't work, then maybe flattery? It was worth a shot. He had no intentions of being kicked out, not unless he did something worth it. The night was still young...

Oh, for the love of... did he really think this was her bar? He talked like he had no idea what he was doing wrong and it grated on her. Ariel tilted her head as she drummed her fingernails on the scuffed bartop, red eyes considering her target.

"I don't own this place." She chuckled, her smile showing teeth. "I don't even work here, but this is indeed my bar... Buddy." Maybe that wasn't enough of a hint... it was hard to tell how obvious or not she was being right now. Reaching out with the hand from her hip, she ran a hand up his chest in a long stroke and then tugged his collar straight for him with a brisk motion.

"See, last time, I was in your bar and we came to an agreement that you would stay in yours and I would stay in mine." Dark brows lifted, inviting him to remember. Damn glamour, making things difficult when she didn't want them to be. Leaning in, keeping herself remarkably balanced, she gave him a light poke in the center of his chest. "We... work together, remember? Corset, boots, leather pants, great body? I got a bit of a hair cut, it used to be down to my a**, but I can't be all that different, hmm? My name is Ariel, by the way, when I'm out of uniform."

More often then not, Richard tried to play the part of the cool and calm Casanova, especially when faced with adversity. He was starting to sense some borderline hostility in the lovely lady before him, after having considerable experience in such bitter emotions when his attempts to woo someone over was failing. He knew the signs to look for, and this saucy vixen was displaying most of them. Or maybe she was drunk? Or a lesbian and didn't appreciate men hanging out in her bar? Either way, she was not having any of his shenanigans, that was clear to see.

She may have smiled, but it was a wolf's smile, the kind that meant that you were seconds away from having your throat ripped out, and Richard would have found such a thing sexy if he wasn't the one at the receiving end of that grin. She's kind of scary.

What finally caused him to drop his cool as a cucumber act was when she called him Buddy, and he knew she didn't mean the term for 'friend' or 'pal'. No, the venom that was laced with that word, the way he was addressed... like a name! Yes, she was calling out his powered identity, and he hoped the strobe lights from the dance floor would have done well in hiding just how pale he had become in a matter of seconds. Suddenly, it clicked, even before she had gone into details, and he tried not to laugh. Not that his laughter was directed at her, but because... he felt like a damned fool!

And this, my friend, is what we call karma.

His act was dropped now, and despite knowing that it would only further get him in even deeper trouble with this one, he placed a hand over his face and let out a deep laugh. "Well, I don't quite think I've been shot down that quickly before... though now I understand why you look ready to piledrive me into the ground. You must forgive me... I really didn't recognize you, and it has nothing to do with that haircut, which looks fabulous, by the way."

He hoped that the sincerity of his explanation and the compliment that followed after it would have helped this brewing catastrophe, though the poke to his chest offered him little hope. "A pleasure to meet you, Ariel... though I can see it's not mutual. I'm guessing you want me gone as per our arrangement, or perhaps there's a way we can make amends?"

The way he laughed lifted her eye brows and she gave him a long, blinking look. It was a bit annoying, but at the same time, her lovely buzz kept it from stinging as much as it probably would have sober. Whatever. She was getting her drunk on, this was her bar, he wasn't allowed to upset her any more than he had by being here. The hair comment was nice though. Flattery was never amiss.

"As a matter of fact, I would rather prefer you gone." She said as she braced a hand on the bar and leaned on it. "But... I might be more forgiving if there was some alcohol involved."

When in doubt... make them pay for your booze. It seemed like a good rule to apply to life. Less stress all around.

"After invading my space, I think the least you could do is buy me a drink. I'm also half tempted to ask why the hell you chose this bar out of the thousands the city sports... you're not here for business, obviously. Do you normally go for dive bars?"

Like an arrow through the heart her comment came, and Richard reacted as though he had just suffered such a fatal wound, grasping his chest in nothing short of melodramatic theatrics though he was at least kind enough not to add the heart-wrenching scream of agony to go with it. His expression of pain was over-exaggerated, but for him, it was all in good fun, as he was quick to regain his composure, especially when she seemed to be giving him an opportunity to remain here. "OUCH, dear lady... I did not think I had wronged you so, but I would be happy to redeem myself in your eyes, if only for a night! I assure you, I can be a quite giving man..."

In more ways than one, but I doubt this one will bite.

Shut up.

"Very well, allow me to buy you the next round, or two, as I explain. I simply came here because, well... I simply wanted to try something new and to get out of the heat. I'm like a leaf on the wind- I go wherever my thirst for alcohol and a good time take me."

I have no excuse for why this is so late, except that I suck. :<
