It was a glorious day. The birds (if they had any) would have been singing, and the sun (if they had any) would have been shining.

Most importantly, her new coat was looking F&F (fabulous & fly as hell), and she was pretty much showing it off to anyone who even breathed in the same hallway as her. It was very important to Chel that everyone know she actually succeeded in something for once in her life, even if the achievement meant next to nothing to others.

At the moment, celebrating with Finn was fire and foremost though. She'd texted him earlier about a "surprise" waiting for him at the lighthouse, with a P.S. that alcohol would be involved. Now she just had to wait for him to show up and be COMPLETELY FLOORED by her amazing coat and self. Then he would grovel on the floor and kiss her miraculous boot. Because that was definitely how this was going to go.

There was one thing, besides the offer of alcohol and some unknown surprise, that Chelsea also had in her favor that day.

Finn was actually in a good mood. Not a pseudo-good mood where he pretended he gave a s**t (or in most cases, didn't even bother to do that much), but an actual, bona fide, genuine good mood. It was a rarity to come by, often fleeting, and was a sure sign that at sometime recently, Finn had gotten something that he'd wanted.

So, he didn't sneer at the text and toss his phone somewhere off to the side where he wouldn't have to deal with it. He didn't make any snide replies where he demanded more then what was being offered, or even tack on any sexual innuendos. Nope, one Finn Connor simply replied that he would be there, and at the designated time she had given him, he was, dressed to the nines and ready for a night out in the real world with alcohol and a pretty lady.

Well, maybe minus the lady part.

"Alright, Darling." He smiled at her when he arrived, and though the cold look in his eye was the same as usual, there was a decidedly warmer tone to his voice then usual.

"What's the surpr---" Pause, eye flickering up and down, taking in the jacket.

"Oh <********>. Are you kidding?"

Good feelings gone.

Chel grinned the biggest, smarmiest, I'm-a-million-times-more-amazing-than-you-est smile she had smiled in a long time.

"Read it and weep ********," she said, twirling a little til her coat revealed its beautiful pink fade in all its glory. "They picked me first suckah." It was so SO nice that for ONCE she had beaten out Finn and Jack. You could bet she was going to savor that look of utter hatred on his face, if only because she'd probably never see it again.

Chel had a lollipop in her pocked because regardless of any promotion she was still eternally five years old and she decided now was the time to take it out and begin sucking on it because every good gloat needed a lollipop to go with it. "Lucky for you it means drinks are on me. Including all the ones you buy for a lucky dame." She completely expected Finn to get laid by the end of the noght, whether it was her or not.

Unlike Finn, Chel was dressed in her usual garb, minus the coat she'd now begun removing (to leave it in one of the lighthouse tech's caring hands) and plus a pair of tight fitting leggings and an ironic cross necklace that made her jingle when she walked. One of the few jewelry pieces she owned, if you didn't count her endless supplies of earrings and gauges. "And with how gussied up you look, you better serve someone some drinks. Where ya wanna head man? I know a few good bars in California, but I'm down for trying something new tonight."

The subject of her hunterdom seemed to have been temporarily dropped, as alcohol was more important.

"Jesus ******** christ, Chel, they picked you first to go to intermediate trainee too. I fail to see the surprise in any of this." Did it sting a little to see that she had been promoted to full hunter before him? Maybe a tiny bit, but that feeling could be easily dismissed.

What was sure to be a night full of bragging was not so easy to ignore, however. Finn had to carefully weigh the positives with the negatives in this situation. Free booze was a good start. A chance to get laid was another, though not nearly as pressing as it once might have been, since he seemed to do just fine with the latter on deus itself.

Not that he would complain with a change on that front. Not at all.

Finn's choice in clothing was perhaps a bit fancier then was necessary, but that was how he chose to dress most of the time when he was off duty anyways, so it should not have come as much surprise. Still, with Chel's comments, he smirked, and reached up to pat her on the cheek. "Are you offering to be my wing man, Jumpsuit? Not that I need it, but I suppose I could also return the favor."

At the rest of it, he waved his hand. "I'm from Calgary, Canada, sweetheart. Not exactly well known for nightclubs unless you enjoy cowboy boots, flannel, achey breaky hearts and brokeback mountain. I'm sure whatever you decide on will suffice." He began carefully adjusting the sleeves of his jacket, ensuring that they were rolled up his arms at just the right level.

"I suppose, however, that I wouldn't mind going someplace a little more...exotic."

"Calgary like a state or a city or ...?" Chel was very American and very stupid when it came to any other country. She knew Europe was across the pond. That was about it.

Exotic? Exotic Chel could work with. "Well Los Angeles is known for more than it's stars, mate." She gave a grin and said, "Bet you ten bucks if we bribed the techs they'd let us right in the backdoor."

Chel knew the life techs had already programmed in coordinates for a place like that. They were all nerds with no life (in her book). So of course they would.

Finn might have given her a disgusted look if he was capable of emoting that well. Instead the tone of his voice would have to do, instead. "City, in the province of Alberta. Canada doesn't have states, you idiot."

But really, was he even surprised that he'd need to explain that?

"Well then, let's be on our way." He finished adjusting his sleeves once they were just perfect, and gave her raised eyebrows as if to say, why haven't we left yet?

"Whoops. My bad." Just like that, the Canadian-United States relationship had been resolved, in Chel's book. They needed to put her on the United Nations council.

She nodded and bullied one of the techs to shooting them down to a swanky ... "bar" in Los Angeles. It was dark, smoky, and shady in every meaning of the word.

In other words, the perfect place for two nameless strangers to get lost in a crowd and have a good time.

Finn shrugged off what amounted to as an apology from the pink haired woman, already looking past her small transgression and on to what could still potentially be an interesting night. When the portal opened, he passed through, only to find himself in a...very questionable sort of place.

Finn shot Chelsea a look. Was this actually what passed in her mind as exotic?

Still, they were here, and there was music, and there was alcohol being sold. Brushing off the fact that Chel had actually offered to buy Finn drinks all night, the moon intermediate slid an arm around her, pulling her in close enough that his lips brushed against her cheek before he had to half shout in her ear to be heard.

"What are you drinking?"

He could get the first round, at least, by way of congratulating her on her promotion. It was the least he could do.

She could tell Finn was displeased and she pouted at him. "I picked it 'cause if we start a ruckus it's easy to disappear. Nicer places have security and s**t. 'm not stupid okay."

A tongue was then childishly stuck out in his direction, but before she could leave him be, he pulled her in closer. Part of her really hated when he did that, but the larger part appreciated that he wasn't leaving her alone. "Don't you know I'm underage," she said seriously. A laugh and then she threw her arms around his neck, followed by, "Whatever you're buyin'!"

Honestly she was more interested in the dancers than the drinks at the moment.

Start a ruckus? What the hell did she think they were going to do, here? But than again, while counting all of the times Finn had gotten kicked out of a night club could be done on one hand, the man knew that it was only from a lack of trying hard enough. There were only so many bars and clubs to frequent where he lived, and he was loathe to be banned from any doors. There had been plenty of occasions where he could and would have gladly initiated a fight.

And now, if the chance happened to arise, he most definitely would have that chance again. It wasn't like the threat of never being able to come back again was something he gave a s**t about anymore.

Still, it would have been nice to just...go somewhere nice. Judging from this places's inhabitants, they might not even last long on the premises. Especially since a few shady, over-muscled characters leaning against the bar were already elbowing each other and leering in Chel's direction.

Disgusting.

"Ohhh, right. Water for you, than." Finn tore his attention away from the rabble. "Or maybe a nice tall glass of warm milk. Do you have a curfew as well, darling?" He mocked with a grin, moving towards the bar and pulling her along.

The selection in this establishment was poor. Cheap. And ridiculously overpriced. That was what Finn could discern upon ordering two fingers of their finest whiskey, neat, one for each him and Chel, and taking a sampling sip, and nearly spitting it out.

He immediately crossed whiskey off of the list of viable options for his next order, for whenever he choked this one down.

"Apple juice suits me better~" she chimed. Her bed time was whenever she collapsed exhausted- but she didn't say that.

Chel bellowed with laughter as Finn spit out his liquor. "God yer a ********' embarrassment Finnagin." She couldn't down her own- not anymore, anyways. Being on the island did have its downsides- one of which being that your alcohol tolerance went way down.

From the bar she leaned back and eyed the dancers, tilting her head at the appropriate times. "Damn. Think I could sneak one of them back to Deus with me?"

The drink was vile. It was what he imagined paint thinner mixed with cats urine might taste like. Something like this wasn't even deserving of the name whiskey.

Of course, all of these thoughts were purely an exaggeration on his part. The drink was rough, of course, burning more on the way down than what he was used to, but he took another sip, prepared for the taste, and swallowed while casting Chel a one eyed glare.

"Don't call me that." He meant both an embarrassment and Finnagin, his tone flat as he turned to lean against the bar as well, eyeing all of the shady nightclubs prospects as they writhed and grinded away on the dance floor.

"Which one?" He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. One buxom blonde beauty in particular caught his eye, and he smirked at her when she glanced his way.
