[A.V.] Text To Jake: Planning to leave in an hour! Meet me at the lighthouse. <3 Sherry hit 'send' and then put her phone down. The next 40 minutes were spent fretting about everything from the backpack she was taking, to the sandwiches, to her runic bandages. Darn. She'd need to pick up more. Was she taking enough water? Would he even want sandwiches? What about this little blanket? Was it good for a picnic? Would there even be a place to stop and eat? Surely there would be. Of course there would be. These places always had space. Even if this one did mention water. It was okay. She'd packed everything to be water resistant. Finally, with 20 minutes to go, she shouldered her pack and headed to the lighthouse. [A.V.] Text to Jake: Heading out now! See you there! She just had to stop by the labs real fast for bandages.

Had Jake known Sherry had considered this more of a casual outing and less of a "your life is probably in danger" outing, he may have cut back on the supplies. But as it was, he had packed runics, bandages, headsets, basic survival gear, and made his way to the lighthouse, a bit before an hour (it was probably more half an hour). ... maybe he should have done something to occupy himself a bit more instead of heading straight here at her first text.
As it was, he decided to send her a reply to let her know he was here a bit early.GrnGriff Text to Sherry: Ok! I'll be waiting!

Waiting? Sherry stared at the phone. She didn't want to make him wait, she had planned on getting there first. Making him wait would be a horrible way to start out. Not that this was a date. Right. Right? [A.V.] Text to Jake: I'll hurry! And she did. She didn't run, though, more walk quickly. And she wasn't used to having quite so much with her for these outings. The backpack full of stuff slowed her down a tiny bit. But she did get bandages. And so it was that Sherry stepped into the lighthouse a full 15 minutes after sending Jake the 20min warning text. Hopefully he hadn't been bored. "Hi! All ready?" Sherry was already handing a note to the tech who was nodding. She'd made an appointment for this particular journey. With any luck, they wouldn't have to bother said tech multiple times. Silly Weeping Forest and it's silly Fear.

Even if it wasn't a date, he had a feeling it'd turn into one anyways. Not that... he was complaining, but- His phone buzzed, and he pulled it out to read Sherry's text. He hadn't meant to... guilt her, and surely rushing often led to poor results, so he fired off a text, hoping she didn't take his text too seriously.GrnGriff Text to Sherry: It's fine, take you time. He used that time to go through his equipment again, making sure he had everything needed, and then looked up when he heard her voice, smiling. "Yah, all good to go."

His text did make her smile, even if she had still tried to hurry. Either way, they were ready to go now. That was all that mattered, right? Sure it was.
"Good," Sherry nodded at the tech then moved toward the portal.
"We'll be looking for something that looks like an island, if I read the book right. I think." She was trying her best to be helpful. "But keep an eye on the time. You know how easy it is to get lost in the Forest."

Quote: gaia_crown [ Getting Started ] Getting to the Cavern:As the Cavern is half submerged in water, and is basically an underwater island, you'll have to open the portal very, very carefully - otherwise you might just find yourself learning what it's like to be a fish. Hunters can enter Halloween as well without a golem (recommended as the Isle itself is very golem unfriendly due to its climate and high altitude as well as natural enemies), for a max of 30 minutes. Each roll takes 5 IC minutes - students can pretty much park here as long as they need as well as horsemen while Hunters will need to exit and enter back again. - Basically, all Hunter characters have 6 chances to find the portal. If they don't find it, they will need to leave and come back. Students and Horsemen do not need to ICly leave and come back. - All players roll 1d100.- Rolling 50 or less will let players find a portal that randomly leads to an island - except not the right island, where on Earth are you?? - Rolling 70 or less will let players find a portal that randomly leads to what appears to be an empty shack on an entirely different island. But there is something hostile lurking here...- Rolling 80 or less will lead you to the Haunted House. Oops. - Rolling 81 or higher will lead you to the portal that opens up on the most stable part of the Sunken Cavern. Congratulations, you've made it. I hope you know how to swim.

On the other side of the portal, Sherry found the forest it's dark and dreary usual self.
"Okay," she said to Jake. "Be careful. And we need an island. The cavern is sunken, so...maybe under water."
And then she set about investigating.
She found a portal, that was easy. It even led to an island. A small island, with no signs of life or anything. Not even sand. Volcanic, for sure. That also meant it was newer, probably. So...not her cave. Oh well.

Right, he almost forgot about the lingering fear in the surrounding area, though it seemed the location of the portal was a bit different this time? Still, precaution was best, and he kept a timer on his phone, making sure to keep track of the time.
Finding a portal, he stepped through, only to give a perplexed look when he seemed to end up inside some sort of building. A shed perhaps? He felt uncomfortable here, as if something were watching him.

20min
Sherry wasted as little time as she could. The Weeping Forest was a dangerous place, after all. Especially without a golem. They really needed to get out of it asap.
Which was why she leaped into the next portal she found.
Which led her to someplace very familiar. The Haunted House. Sherry sighed. Most certainly not the cavern. She would just have to keep looking. Sadly.

Deciding he didn't want to stay in that shed much longer, Jake hurried out, not taking long to find another portal, though perhaps a little TOO eagerly, and nearly walked straight into the water as he did so.
Or perhaps he did, as a soaking wet Jake came back out, gasping as he tested to see if his headset still worked. "I think I found it."

"Did you?!" Sherry was nothing short of excited. It was that excitement that had her rounding a tree and catching sight of Jake in no time. Well, maybe a little bit of time. Like a minute.
"What...happened to you?" He looked like he'd gone swimming, maybe. "You didn't try to go in, did you?" One report had mentioned the entrance being underwater. (Though Sherry had hoped that was a low tide thing. Or something. she really knew nothing about tides and oceans.) "Are you sure it's the right place?"

"U-uh, I..." Jake gave her a sheepish look at his poor presentation "I'm pretty sure. I think I was... in a bit of a rush and didn't realize my surroundings..." It was a miracle he was still alive.

Sherry looked at Jake, and if she had a hint of a frown it was from thought, and had nothing to do with chiding him.
"The book mentioned some rocks, and water surrounding what was left of the island." Her eyes perked up a bit, at the same time a breeze tugged at their clothing and hair. "Did you see an entrance? One book said it was underwater, but I'm hoping it's not always."
And then she blinked, as though realizing something. "Oh, no!" She swung her pack off, placing it on the ground and opening it. "You're not cold are you? We can't," she was tugging a towel out of her pack, "have you catching cold here."
Did Jake enjoy having other people tossing a towel over his head so they could start drying his hair? Cause Sherry did that.

It wasn't that he was afraid that she'd chide him; in fact, he expected it. It was more the fact that her frown made him think she thought less of him for walking STRAIGHT into water without as so much a quick glance at his surroundings to prevent that very thing from happening. Really, he wasn't THAT much of a dumbass. Usually. Hopefully. Oh god she thought he was an idiot.
"Uh... there might have been one. I wasn't really paying attention, sorry." Because if he had, he wouldn't have ended up in this predicament, and he pulled at his shirt as it clung to him. So uncomfortable.
Sherry suddenly thorwing her bag off alarmed him, and he was about to take a defensive post, thinking maybe she had just remembered something important (or maybe she forgot something), but when a towel was pulled out and tossed at him, he only blinked in surprise, somewhat bewildered.
"I, uh, I'm good. I won't catch a cold from something like this." To be honest, he rarely caught colds. He had been too busy surviving to deal with such mundane things. Still, he appreciated the concern, and stood still while Sherry attempted to rub his hair dry. ... maybe he should do it instead.

"No matter. We'll investigate it further." She had every intention of doing just that.
Which was why it would ultimately be a moot point to dry his hair or anything.
"You say that, but you don't know it," was all she said as she rubbed that towel around on his head. Just a few moments, and then the towel was off, and Jake would find fingers running through his damp hair. She was fluffing it, styling it. More or less. It was then she realized the cold thing was just an excuse to touch him. She...she had totally turned the whole thing into a date in her mind. Picnic and all.
"Was the water cold or warm?" she asked, hoping her thoughts weren't obvious on her face.
