I've been busy entertaining company and preparing for a big ol' trip, but the news of Lucina and Robin's inclusion in Super Smash Bros did not miss me. I did, however, miss the FEF blast aftershocks and tooting of the hype train that undoubtedly followed.

Things happen, so dun worry about it. xP
But I'm glad you've heard the news Tiki.
I was actually pleasantly surprised when I heard Lucina and Robin were confirmed to be in smash. I originally thought it might be someone else from a different series like Mother or something... And I know there are many people that are disappointed and are like "Lucina's a Marth clone"
Yes, Lucina and Marth are similar all gender differences aside... But I'm sure there'll be differences in abilities or even techs. A lot of people jumped the gun just before the game is even out. We rarely got to see what she can do yet.
But, I really don't see the problem myself. There are others that wanted Lyn in because she was a trophy in brawl. I mean, I like Lyn but it's already been done. And of course the same thing goes for Chrom, a lot of fans were pretty mad that he's not playable but rather as an assist.(Gotta love those jokes being made about him. lol)
I recall a long time ago many people wanted Lucina in smash, and it's kind of ironic really... There's a lot of disappointment because she's in now.
As for Robin, I'm curious about his/her's play style. I'm not really huge about Robin as far as character goes, but his movesets could be really fun to play around with. I'm realy interested in trying out Lucina and Robin once the game comes out.
Overall, I'm really quite happy that both made it in smash. =D

Apparently there are those within the FE community that are upset by the announcement?
I do not understand that sentiment. They literally doubled the FE representation in the game. And some people are reacting more negatively than positively? It is no wonder the FE community overall is considered an unpleasant one by outsiders. Might you have wanted a different character? I'm sure everyone has their choices for who to put in, but does not getting precisely the specific characters you want REALLY outweight the improvement in overall representation for the series? Think about the future implications of there being four playable FE characters. It means there's room for more slots in future SSB entries as well. We broke the limit of two! This alone is reason to celebrate. But no. Instead there are complaints about how they all look the same and Lucina is going to be a Marth clone (when you haven't even played the game).
Luigi started as a Mario clone. He obviously isn't that any more. I highly doubt they'd make a clone of another character at this point. Especially with the way all moves can be customized. Lest we forget Lucina has Aether and it isn't Ike's version and Marth doesn't have it.
Also, Gen 2>Gen 1, right? So Lucina>Chrom, right? No? I'm definitely endeared to Lucina more than I am to Chrom.
Also, do you have me on Facebook? I think you have me on Facebook, Tiki. My post there yesterday was golden. So much so I'll self-promote for it.
And another magic user in SSB? Wiiiiin! Also, the limited use of his moves was an impressive reference back to FE's weapon durability mechanics. Well done SSB; well done.
I'm really hoping Nosferatu heals in this game, too.

Well, FD. As someone who DOESN'T like Robin, I'LL TELL YOU YOU THAT I'm really happy that they're in Smash.
We get another mage, another FE rep that doesn't use a sword, doesn't have blue hair, has a very unique playstyle (at least it seems that way from here), and generally shakes things up. And you can be a boy or a girl! Not to mention I get to hope that you fight Grima!MU during adventure mode or something.
So many people were hoping for Lucina that the discontent she was met with really surprised me. Though of course I have seen plenty of people that are happy that their not-so-secret desires to have Lucina be in there over Chrom were met (Including myself. Plus we got a boatload of new Chrom jokes out of it, as Rhyus said. I love them all).
Checkin' your facebook as I post this, FD. I have been away from there as well.
It was a treat for my friends and I. One's just as big an FE nut as I am and we got the other into Awakening. And wouldn't you know the first time we get together for around a year Lucina and Robin are confirmed. And the Chrom jokes did flow.
It's not like Smash has a limited number of spots or anything. Awakening brought in a ton of money and FE fans need love too.

Rarely on Facebook much really... but that must be some amazing post eh? xP
Anyhow... It's technically four FE characters that are playable right now. Chrom is just an assist.(Because that's all he has left for him. xD) I'm very curious on the other assists there'll be in the game actually. -is extremely hyped-

The true important news of that announcement. Tiki/Lucina confirmed for brawl. [Green haired goddess? COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.]

Don't you tease me, that Nintendo Direct with the Tiki trophy already made my heart skip a beat, I can only dream of Tiki being playable.
Actually hadn't thought of that picture in that way though. Tee hee.

There is no logical basis for disliking Lucina or Robin being in smash. The end.

Queen Melethia Dagon http://www.gonintendo.com/s/233268-sakurai-talks-lucina-s-inclusion-in-smash-bros-wii-u-3ds-why-chrom-didn-t-make-the-cut Here is a bit more on the information about Lucina. So I was kinda right when I read about Lucina's being a balanced typed while Marth's strength is focused toward the tip of the blade. Of course while I understand why Chrom didn't make the cut, I will admit that I really don't see how Lucina is not "another plain-old sword-wielder." sweatdrop Yes, I'm aware that the very last paragraph explains it everything. And yes, I have watched the trailers many times to see SLIGHTLY difference in their attacks. However, I still wish that Lucina's fighting style is more different than slight than Marth's. I'm not sayiing I don't agree about Lucina in the roster. I just wish Sakurai put more effort in Lucina instead of trying to make her similar to Marth. sweatdrop

I wouldn't go so far as to say they didn't put in effort in Lucina just because she bears similarities to Marth. It's clearly the intended direction for her and that required conscious effort.
I do find it unfortunate she'll be so similar in a way, but still look forward to how different they are. If we can have Link AND Toon Link, I don't see why Lucina can't be around. The game's not out yet; I'm not going to judge it until I've played it.

I wonder, if Roy came back with his moveset from SSBM, would people be complaining like this?
If I'm interpreting the article right, Robin was the priority (obviously so with their spiffy new moveset and the character introduction focusing mainly on them) and Lucina was originally going to be a costume for Marth, as many people predicted. But Sakurai wanted to make her her own character because unlike Robin or the Villager, Lucina and Marth aren't alternate character designs for the same character that fills the same role.
So picture two scenarios.
Scenario A: Everything is as it was initially intended.
Scenario B: Everything is as it was initially intended, plus one Lucina.
I like Scenario B.
