Okay, I finally got the second installment of I Feel Sick, and I must say that it is now one of my all time favorite series by Jhonen 3nodding
The overall style in the series is impecable. The geometricism that Jhonen uses is very prominant, and the bold, rich colors (coordinated by Jhonen and sewn in by Rikki) gives life and brings attention to every single detail in and around the panels. I highly suggest reading the series again when you are finished just to admire the style and play "I Spy" with the funny off-screen characters Jhonen places around the panels.
Sickness is a great character. She represents the easy way out for an artist, or any human being for that matter. Cleverly designed and wickedly clever, Sickness makes you want to step into the panel and have a little chat with her since she seems to be a direct link back to the back of Jhonen's mind.
Devi is also portrayed wonderfully. This shrewd, punk-a** artist helps Jhonen bring in his views of regulated art. Art that must be sent in, brought back for edit, in for review, then back out for more editing, and so on. Devi's view of her world's exaggerated stupidity can relate back to Jhonen's, but on a lesser note.
Jhonen has also expressed that Devi is one of his most fascinating characters because he finds people whom have this wonderful talent, but do not use it, and very interesting to play with.
And, well, that's my review. Go read it now xd
