If I can catch it as a cheap matinee, maybe. Sure as hell not going to pay $8 for an evening showing! I predict this will be out on DVD by June at the latest. And speaking of movies no one really wanted, how about the new theatrical release of Dragonball Z: Fusion Reborn? Talk about a step out of time. Do people still care about DB spin offs like this? http://www.funimationfilms.com

This is something I definately will see. Mayhaps not alone like so many other movies I decide to go and check out (check, cheque, Mike Czech, one two).
I'm not AS worried about how they will handle this, but it will definately inspire me to seek out the comic first chance I get so I can do a proper comparison.

See now, my group of friends is totally psyched about this movie. I wanted to go see the premire last night but everyone was busy so now I'm aiming for a Tuesday night showing.
And as far as the Dragonball Movie is concerned, I don't think it's showing in my area, but I totally want to see it just because I've had a bootleg of it for years and the concept is so totally out there I'm amazed THIS is the film that gets the theatrical release.
The premise is this: a bunch of evil takes over this demon in hell, and he goes on a rampage and takes over King Yemma's place. Therefore, King Yemma cannot control the afterlife, and HELL OPENS UP. All the former Dragonball Villains come to earth, where Gohan promtply kicks the crap out of them as the Great Saiyaman. Also, Trunks and Goten fight HITLER (okay, a parody of hitler).
Meanwhile, back in HELL Goku finds Vegeta and the two end up fusing to fight the big bad guy. While this is going on Tai-Ku-Han (the green guy from the anime only other world tournament saga) tries to break the seal placed around King Yemma's palace. Hitting it real hard dosen't do much. But you know what does break it?
Cussing at it.
I want to see it just to see how they edited all of that out.
Also, the movie that comes after this one (which I've also had on bootleg for years) is crazy for actually having a PLOT.

Finally saw V for Vendetta tonight.
It was good. Better than I expected. I was waiting for another "From Hell" or "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" kind of disaster, but found it oddly faithful. It's, in essentia prima, faithful to the Graphic Novel's spirit. Considering the time differences (The original V story was written in 1982, and set in the future, around 1987), I think they did a good job adapting it to more current / modern times (Nuclear war now? 20 years ago it'd have been the order of the day; today, not quite so!). Some other fixes (Evey's and Gordon's are the most immediatly noticeable) are obviously there to keep up the pace of the film (Remember: Sometimes, different media require different techniques)
What I find most interesting, though, is the negative reaction of the press, not to the film itself, but it's ideas about Anarchy and Rebellion, and the "glorified" terrorism.

I wanna see the DBZ movie now. And, well, Funimation is actually really good on the editing front, so little to nothing will probably be cut out anyway. Plus there'll be a DVD.

Floyd serial_experiments So... Who's watching this piece of crap? Looks like most of the ticket buyers for last weekend. V for Vendetta was number 1! http://entertainment.tv.yahoo.com/entnews/eo/20060320/114290976000.html Well, I stood corrected. The movie is actually good, considerably better than the last 2 iterations of the Matrix.

Saw this on Wednesday.
Overall I thought it was very well done. There were some moments that made my head tilt to one side in mild agitation but I liked it. I also got around to reading a good deal of the GN, and found I can't choose between the movie or the book. On the one hand, the book has a lot more to it, but on the other hand, the movie executes some other factors and elements that adds to it.
...Goddamnit I love V. So eloquent.

I think they made V too likeable. I found myself siding with him waaaaaaaaay to easily.
I loved the Benny Hill sequence though. I was laughing like mad.

NeoBlue I loved the Benny Hill sequence though. I was laughing like mad. Yes! That was awesome. I want to make the shot of V holding a cigar like Bugs Bunny my MSN avatar.

That is the last of the Dragon Ball Movies, and the first one I had ever seen in my life. The Yellow demon is called Janimba(sp) I always thought that guy was Piccollo... I always wondered why he was dead. ^^;

I saw V last night and was pleasantly surprised. There weren't any dull scenes and the fights were still kind of believable. But I agree with Neoblue: V was too likeable and the Chancelor to devilish. It should've been the opposite so that towards the end of the movie, you have a change of heart and the terrorist becomes the hero and the Chancelor, evil.
