Jūken (Gentle Fist) Precise, Quick, Fluid

The Gentle Fist (柔拳, Jūken) or Gentle Fist Art (柔拳法, Jūkenpō) is a form of hand-to-hand combat used by members of the Hyūga clan. It inflicts internal damage through attacking the body's Chakra Pathway System, subsequently injuring organs which are closely intertwined with the area of the network which has been struck. To do this, the user surgically injects a certain amount of their own chakra into the opponent's chakra pathway system, causing damage to surrounding organs due to their proximity to the chakra circulatory system. Even the slightest tap can cause severe internal damage, hence the name "gentle" fist.
Targeting the tenketsu can enhance the havoc and control a Gentle Fist practitioner can impose upon an opponent's chakra network. These special nodes, 361 in total, are key gatekeeping interceptions in the chakra circulatory network, thus forcibly opening or sealing them in whatever manner the Gentle Fist user sees fit is a powerful tactical option to have. The user's chakra can either increase chakra flow in the opponent's body, or disrupt it completely, preventing them from using techniques as seen in Neji's fight with Hinata during the Chūnin Exams.
Neji Hyūga remarked that any chakra-based substance can be destroyed by this technique. As seen in his fight with Kidōmaru, it is done by leaking chakra from the chakra openings in one's hands and moulding it into a needle-like shape to slice through the chakra. However it is unknown if this technique can be done by any Gentle Fist user or just those who can see the tenketsu.
Because the chakra pathway system is invisible to the naked eye, the Byakugan is required for this style to be used effectively. Since the Byakugan is unique to the Hyūga clan, it has become their signature style of combat.
The ability to inflict severe internal trauma with minimal external force, combined with chakra network manipulation, makes the Gentle Fist the most reputable and fearsome taijutsu style known in all of Konohagakure.
Rules - Must be a Hyūga clan member with the Byakugan - The Tenketsu cannot be struck without the Byakugan being activated - Branch family members are not technically allowed to learn the higher forms of Jūken, they can only be taught up to stage four of the style before they must either "try and develop their own style" (like what Neji did), or they could try and steal the scrolls necessary to learn the higher stages.
General Fighting Style
Jūken utilizes open palm thrusts and precise strike with the middle and forefinger. The basic stance of the style is primary(the side you write with) arm outstretched, with the palm facing the opponent, while the secondary arm is cocked to the side with the palm facing towards the sky; the primary leg is positioned to the front with the foot cocked slightly to the side while the secondary foot is held back with the foot placed perpendicular to the direction you’re facing. Blocks and parries involve sweeping motions with the arms that aim to push the opponents strikes away from the body while opening them up for attack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Genin | Stage One
The user is instructed in the basic forms of the style, from the basic stance, to the correct way to position ones fingers or palms for precise strikes. The user is drilled constantly in the forms, simply practicing moving from one form to the other in a very stylized and structured manner. At this stage the user is only slightly more capable than the average genin, not able to deliver strikes with the precision of those that have learned the higher stages of the style.
-Training consists of learning how to properly strike without breaking the fingers, and how to properly thrust to gain the maximum amount of force behind the attack.
Stance Learned:
The First Trigram: The most basic form of Jūken, this form allows for the easiest transition into the others. The practitioner positions their primary arm forward, with the palm facing the opponent, while the secondary arm is cocked to the side with the palm facing towards the sky; the primary leg is positioned to the front with the foot cocked slightly to the side while the secondary foot is held back with the foot placed perpendicular to the direction you’re facing. As the most balanced of all the forms, the First Trigram provides no combat benefits, but almost all Jūken techniques can be performed from this stance. (provides no combat bonuses of any note, but allows the use of basic Jūken techniques)
Techniques:
Palm Thrust Rank: E Type: Taijutsu | Offensive Stances: Any Jūken Stance Description: By thrusting with the palm while taking a step forward, the user is able to put almost all of their strength to use, allowing them to push their opponent back several paces, and easily leave a bruise.
Chakra Needle Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu | Offensive Range: 50 ft / 15 m Description: After focusing chakra outside the body, it is then formed into needles and propelled at the target. By using Byakugan, this technique can be used to hit very small targets, such as bees. (Can create 1 needle per 10 sp allocated to Power, with a minimum of 1)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Genin | Stage Two
Once the basic forms of the style have been drilled into the student sufficiently the next level of training can begin, fluidity of motion. At this point the student is learning Jūken in much the same way the practitioner of Tai Chi would learn their style, utilizing slow and precise movements in order for their muscles to learn how to move instinctively in combat. In combat the practitioner uses these skills quickly, relying on muscles memory to react to attacks rather than having to think about the action. The user is much more capable by the end of this stage, though they would still have trouble against higher ranking shinobis.
-Training consists of transitioning from First Trigram to Second, and back again, as the practitioner improves, their instructor will throw attacks at them in order to learn how to learn how to transition smoothly from offense to defense and back again.
Stance Learned:
The Second Trigram: The primary defensive form of Jūken, the user places their primary arm behind their back, while not actually touching their back, and places their other arm in front of their body, palm held parallel to the ground. The primary leg is positioned to the back, foot cocked slightly away from your self, carrying your weight on this foot, while the secondary leg is placed forward, foot facing the opponent. Though this form is next to useless if trying to act offensively, it makes deflecting attacks and then quickly counter-attacking significantly easier. (Provides no significant combat bonuses, but allows the use of basic Jūken defensive techniques)
Techniques:
Sweeping Block Rank: D+ Type: Taijutsu | Defensive Required Stance(s): Second Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Sixth Trigram Description: This technique allows the user to use the momentum of their opponents strike against them, deflecting the blow away from their body by making a broad sweeping motion with their arm. (By giving up an attack action in the previous post, the Hyūga can deflect taijutsu techniques thrown at them; to successfully deflect a technique, the Hyūga must make an opposed reflex check against their opponent, if the opponents reflex stat is 10 or more sp greater than that of the Hyūga, then the Hyūga is unable to deflect attacks of equal or greater rank; Taijutsu Master Hyūga receive a temporary +5 sp stat boost to their reflex when using this technique; The cost of the technique is equal to the rank of the technique deflected -1 rank, so deflecting an A-ranked technique costs B-rank stamina, to a minimum of D rank cost)
Eight Trigrams Empty Palm Rank: D Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Stance Required: First Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Sixth Trigram Description: This jutsu is the basis of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, but has a specific target rather than a general area. To perform it, the user performs a palm thrust, while simultaneously shooting a concentrated force of chakra out of his hand, to violently push their opponent away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Chuunin | Stage Three
At this stage the user builds upon their previous lessons by moving in the same fluid motions but at a much quicker pace. They generally train against dummies that are marked with small marks that pinpoint the pressure points of the body in order to teach the student the precision necessary to utilize the higher stages of this style. Most teachers will teach their students the hand-seals necessary to activate their byakugan at this stage, though some still follow the tradition of forcing the student to activate it out of desperation. Practitioners also begin to learn to strike at the Tenketsu, though their will be far from proficient at it. By the end of this stage the user is truly formidable in comparison to others of his rank.
-Training consists of striking at dummies marked with small red dots to represent different pressure points. These dots are in fact much smaller than an actual pressure point and are designed this way so that when the student must actually use the techniques their strikes will be that much more precise.
Stance Learned:
Third Trigram: A primarily offensive form, the Third Trigram focuses on rapid and precise strikes using the middle and index finger. The student keeps both arms in front of themselves, with their arms positioned in a manner similar to a praying mantis, elbows cocked with hands curled at the wrists, middle and index finger extended downwards. (The Third Trigram imposes a -10 sp strength penalty when used. When a Taijutsu Master Hyūga utilizes the Third Trigram, the opponent receives an effective -5 sp Reflex penalty to evasion against the following techniques: Strike of Stone, Strike of Leaf, Strike of Pain, Tenketsu Strikes, Eight Trigrams 32 Palm, Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms), or Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms.)
Techniques:
Strike of Stone Rank: D Type: Taijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram, Fifth Trigram, Seventh Trigram Description: Named for making an opponent as immobile as a stone, this technique is used to strike at one of three pressure points on either leg: the Wound of the Thigh, located roughly where the leg locks in with the hip; the Wound of the Lower Leg, located on the back of the knee; or the Wound of the Foot, located between the Achilles Tendon and ankle.( Opponents successfully struck by this technique will be unable to move the affected leg for three posts, or at the cost of 5 stamina, the opponent may move with a -1 rank speed penalty, though this causes an excruciating amount of pain. If both legs are affected then the opponent still only pays 5 stamina but will suffer a -2 rank speed penalty.
Strike of Breeze Rank: C Type: Taijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram, Fifth Trigram, Seventh Trigram Description: Named for making the opponent as harmless as a cool summer's breeze, this technique is used to strike at one of four pressure points located on either arm: the Wound of the Shoulder, located on the inside of the collar bone; the Wound of the Upper arm, located in the center of the upper arm between the biceps and triceps; the Wound of the Lower Arm, located in the crux of the elbow; or the Wound of the Hand, located in the center of the wrist. (Opponents successfully struck by this technique will be unable to move their arm or produce hand-signs for three posts, or at the cost of 5 stamina, the opponent may use their arms, but will suffer a -1 strength penalty, though this causes an excruciating amount of pain. If both arms are affected then the opponent still only pays 5 stamina but will suffer a -2 rank strength penalty.
Tenketsu Strikes Rank: C (see below for chakra cost) Type: NinTaijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram, Third Trigram, Fourth Trigram, Fifth Trigram, Seventh Trigram Description: The practitioner has learned to strike at their opponents internal chakra coil, and in so doing they can cut off or increase the flow of the Tenketsu struck. In addition because of the close relation between the Tenketsu and chakra producing organs, if the Tenketsu are struck it will also cause damage to internal organs. (When striking at Tenketsu when not using a specific technique, each strike costs 1 chakra point; for every five tenketsu points that are struck successfully, the opponent takes a +1 chakra cost modifier to any use of chakra to a maximum of +4, this effect lasts for up to four posts and is renewed with every successful strikes; Note: the Byakugan must be active to strike at Tenketsu)[NOTE: This may need to be changed or completely thrown out, not sure. Will people still be able to perform attacks that are not specific techniques?]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Chuunin | Stage Four
The practitioner is taught not only how to strike with speed and precision at the Tenketsu, but they are also taught the precise chakra control necessary to cut off or increase the chakra flow of the chakra point struck. In order to train these skills the practitioner trains either on a live subject (though few masters still do this), or they train on a special training dummy that was developed by the Hyūga. The dummy can be infused with a small amount of chakra by either the master or the student, and by doing so the dummy will mimic the Tenketsu, allowing the student to train freely on the dummy for hours at a time without having to strike a real person.
-Training consists of striking at the different Tenketsu of the body repeatedly while switching from form to form, learning to change forms in order to strike at different angles.
Stance Learned:
Fourth Trigram: A supplemental form, the Fourth Trigram is taught to teach the students of Juken how to more easily mold and control the flow of chakra throughout the body. Resembling the First Trigram from the waist down, the student positions both arms at their side, elbows cocked at a ninety degree angle at the waist with their finger tips pointing forward and their palms facing the sky. (When utilizing the Fourth Trigram, all Jūken techniques of C-rank or higher cost 2 fewer chakra points)
Techniques:
Eight Trigrams 32 Palm Rank: D Type: NinTaijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: It is essentially a halved version of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, but seems to be no less effective. This technique is used to close off the flow of chakra through thirty-two chakra points of an opponent's Chakra Pathway System. This eliminates their ability to use chakra for some time and causes moderate damage to internal organs. (Locks chakra use for 2 posts; three post cool-down, triggers 3 post cool down for all variations of the Hakke Rokujūyon. If the opponent has a Control Stat of 50 sp or greater, then they can perform techniques two ranks below their own rank, but at a +2 chakra point penalty.)
Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms) Rank: C (Costs D-rank Chakra) Type: NinTaijutsu - Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: This jutsu closes off sixty-four specific chakra points on an opponent's body with the gentle fist, effectively eliminating their ability to use chakra for quite some time and making it quite difficult for them to move. It begins with the closing of two chakra points, followed by four more, then eight, then sixteen, then thirty-two, and then sixty-four strikes. Each set of strikes is done at an increasing pace. (Locks Chakra use for 3 posts; 4 post cool-down, triggers 4 post cool down for all variations of the Hakke Rokujūyon. If an opponent has a Control stat of 60 sp or greater, they can use techniques two ranks below their current rank, but at a +3 chakra point penalty.)
Hakkeshō Kaiten(Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin) Rank: D-B Type: Ninjutsu - Defensive Required Form(s): Fourth Trigram | Sixth Trigram Description: A secret taijutsu that is orally handed down only within the main house of the Hyūga, this technique utilizes the chakra control gained through Gentle Fist training to release a huge amount of chakra from all the chakra points on the user's body. It is also a defensive maneuver to compensate for the Byakugan's blind spot as the released chakra blocks any possible attack on the user. After releasing chakra from every tenketsu in their body, the user then spins rapidly to parry the attack, both creating a rotating shield of chakra around themselves and tossing away any nearby attackers. The user can also actively control the size and power of the sphere to suit the situation. Tenten mentions that the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven is more powerful than any defense, including Gaara's sand. This technique is only effective when rotating, since the chakra itself is not enough to stop a physical attack thus if they cannot spin, the user becomes vulnerable. (The user decides how large or small the chakra dome will be, and spends the appropriate amount of chakra, though they must have a Power stat great enough to learn ninjutsu of the appropriate rank; blocks techniques of equal or lower rank to the chakra spent, and reduces the damage of Ninjutsu techniques one rank higher by half, but can be penetrated by ninjutsu of two ranks higher or greater; Taijutsu/Kenjutsu techniques of three ranks or higher can penetrate the technique, but are reduced in power; 5 post cool down)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Special Jounin | Stage Five
Once the user is comfortable with striking the inner chakra coil they can be taught the higher forms of the style. Up to this point practitioners of this style are only taught the basics of the style in order to develop the skills necessary to perform the higher ranking techniques. This stage teaches the user to defend themselves against multiple opponents while still maintaining a sound offense.
Training consists of practicing strikes against two dummies on either side of the student to practice offense, while practicing against two other real opponents to improve defense.
Stance Learned
The Fifth Trigram: A primarily defensive form, the Fifth Trigram is taught to teach the students of Juken how to effectively combat multiple opponents at once. Turning their body so that their primary side is facing one opponent, the user places their primary leg forward, turning the foot so that it is tilted at a forty-five degree angle between the student and the opponent on their primary side, while the secondary leg is held under the student's body, supporting most of the weight and acting as a pivot so that they can quickly turn to react to attacks from multiple angles. The hands are held aloft, the primary arm held at a slight downward angle from the shoulder, palm facing skywards, while the secondary arm is held at a slightly upward angle from the shoulder, palm facing the ground. (Provides a +10 sp Reflex bonus when fighting multiple opponents. When a Taijutsu Master Hyūga utilizes the Fifth Trigram they can use the following techniques against multiple opponents: Eight Trigrams 32 Palms[NOTE: may need to remove the 32 palms from list if [Tenketsu Strikes] cannot be used], Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms), Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms), True Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. The effects are split amongst the targets.)
Techniques:
Strike of Pain Rank: C Type: Taijutsu – Offensive Required Form: Third Trigram Description: Named for the sheer amount of pain that this technique causes to opponents, this technique is used to strike at one of two pressure points located in the neck: the Wound of Neck, located on either side of the trachea; or the Wound of Face, located in the soft tissue behind the jaw lining up with the eyes. (Opponents successfully struck by this technique must pay 3 stamina each post to perform any actions, and an additional 3 stamina if they wish to perform any Genjutsu due to the sheer amount of concentration it would take to focus through the pain; Lasts up to 3 posts)
Shugohakke Rokujūyon Shō(Protection of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms") Rank: B Type: Ninjutsu Required Forms: Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram Description: This jutsu is a combination of the Eight Trigram Palms Heavenly Spin and the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. In this jutsu, the user emits a constant stream of chakra from their palms, creating extremely sharp chakra blades. With the users amazing flexibility, they can reach any point around themselves, allowing them to hit any target within their field of vision. While using this jutsu, user moves extremely fast, allowing them to hit hundreds of targets with extreme precision, much like the original Sixty-Four Palms jutsu. Additionally, they can control the size of the chakra beams in their palms, allowing them to create larger, arc-shaped chakra beams that spread out across her entire attack range. This creates an "absolute defense" effect similar to that of the Heavenly Spin, though the cutting nature of the chakra prevents any outside force from restricting it. In this way, the technique can be used as both an offensive and defensive maneuver. (Shares cool down with Hakkeshō Kaiten)
Hakke Hasangeki (Eight Trigrams Mountain Crusher) Rank: B Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Required Forms: First Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: A more powerful variation of Eight Trigrams Empty Palm. The user hits the target at close range with a powerful wave of chakra. The strike sends the opponent back several yards and is powerful enough to break bones.
Hakke Kuushou - Eight Divination Signs Air Palm Rank: B Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Range: 40 ft / 12 m Required Forms: First Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description:Hakke Kuushou is a ranged Taijutsu technique utilized by Hyūga Neji. Extending chakra from his body, the user will thrust his palm at his target. This will send out an invisible wave of chakra that can knock his opponent back several yards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Jounin | Stage Six
At this point in the practitioner's training they focus solely on chakra control, learning to release chakra not only from the tips of their fingers and hands, but from all of their chakra points. This level of chakra control also allows the user to increase the power and speed of their strikes by supplying chakra to their limbs in the proper way. At this stage the power of the practitioner’s strikes is significantly increased simply because of the precise application of chakra behind each strike.
Stance Learned:
Sixth Trigram: A purely defensive form, the Sixth Trigram resembles the Second Trigram from the waist down, but the student places their primary arm in front of their torso, their palm facing in front of themselves positioned in line with the sternum, and the secondary arm is held at ninety degree angle at the students waist, palm facing the sky. This form, which is intended to direct the flow of chakra in the users body away from the center, restricts the use of many juken techniques, making it more of a last ditch effort when avoiding a blow is not possible. (When using this form a protective coating of chakra is constantly expelled from all the users chakra points simultaneously, providing an armor of sorts. At -3 chakra points per post in which this form is active, including the posts it is activated, deactivated, and everything in between, the user is protected by a layer of chakra, reducing the power of Taijutsu and Kenjutsu attacks by one rank, and causing any weapon to be treated as blunt, and therefore unable to slice or pierce the skin. Chakra coatings on weapons negate the blunting effect, making them capable of slicing and piercing skin. While active, no technique requiring the use of chakra may be used, aside from Hakkeshō Kaiten(Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin), Eight Trigrams Palm Heavenly Spin Absolute, and Gentle Fist Art One Blow Body.)
Techniques
Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms) Rank: A (B-rank Chakra cost) Type: NinTaijutsu - Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: This jutsu is essentially a doubled version of Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Like the former, it closes off the opponent's chakra points. Unlike the former, it closes off twice as many (12 cool at twice the speed. Alternatively, it can be used to hit a great number of targets very quickly. (Cuts off Chakra use for 5 posts, 6 post cool-down, triggers 6 post cool down for all variations of the Hakke Rokujūyon. Opponents with a Control stat of 80 or greater may perform jutsu two ranks below their own rank, but at a +4 chakra point penalty.)
Gentle Fist Art One Blow Body Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Defensive Required Form(s): Sixth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: Using their ability to expel chakra from every chakra point on their body, a member of the Hyūga clan can send enemies that get too close flying back by releasing a massive wave of chakra from their Tenketsu. The technique can also be used to deflect projectiles and ranged jutsu (ex. fireball jutsu or lightning bolt jutsu) of B-rank or lower. This technique is effective out to a range of five-feet. (3 post cool-down)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Jounin| Stage Seven
By this stage of the training the practitioner is already a force to be reckoned with, they are even dangerous enough to pose a threat to shinobi of higher rank due to their ability to completely cut off the flow of chakra. This stage of the training focuses on combining the principles of defense and offense teaching the student to block and counter even more effectively.
Stance Learned
Seventh Trigram: A form which relies heavily on the user's speed, the Seventh Trigram is used to quickly chain together multiple attacks to unleash devastating combo attacks. (When using this form the user may use one more Jūken technique in their post, but only Jūken techniques may be used in the post, the opponent receives a temporary +10sp boost to their Reflex stat against all techniques used by the opponent when in this form; Opponents only receives the temporary Reflex boost for the first technique when facing a Taijutsu Master Hyūga; the Hyūga may not use the same technique twice in a row, and may not use more than one Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms) or any variation of this technique in the same post when utilizing the seventh Trigram.)
Techniques
Eight Trigrams Ultimate Wind Rank: A Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Range: 60 ft / 18 m Required Form(s): Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: The user uses Air Palm twice on his opponent, sending them crashing into a large object or structure, before using it again to collapse the structure on top of the opponent. (Obviously requires something for the opponent to be launched into)
Sweeping Counter Rank: B Type: NinTaijutsu | Defensive Required Form(s): Seventh Trigram Description: Utilizing the basic principles of the sweeping block, the Hyūga can parry an opponents attack and strike multiple times from a seemingly impossible angle. The user successfully blocks and then uses an advanced chakra infusion that takes up the same level of chakra as a Jounin level technique, to maneuver so quickly around the opponent that they can strike from behind their opponent. (Acts as an immediate Sweeping Block which takes up one attack action in the post used; 5 post cool-down)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Kage/Saanin| Stage Eight
This stage further applies the principle of building upon what the user has already learned, teaching them to use their amazing chakra control and advanced taijutsu training to perform devastating attacks that can be used both offensively and defensively.
Stance Learned
Eighth Trigram: One of the most difficult forms to master, this stance puts such strain on the user that it can only be maintained for a short duration. Facing their opponent, the practitioner places their hands near their waist, palms facing down and away. Placing their primary leg forward, the user bends their legs at the knees and stands on the balls of their feet. (When using this form, the user increases the power of Jūken techniques when transitioning from offense to defense. When a defensive Jūken technique is used, the user may use an offensive Jūken technique with a +10 sp Strength and Power bonus. Alternatively, if an offensive Jūken technique is used, the user may use a defensive juken technique at a +10 sp Power bonus. This bonus lasts for one attack. Unless otherwise stated, any Jūken technique may be used in the eighth trigram. Has a 5 post cool-down.)
Techniques
Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists Rank: A (costs B-rank chakra) Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram, Fourth Trigram, Fifth Trigram, Seventh Trigram Description: The user forms two large lion-shaped shrouds of chakra around their hands, then attacks the opponent with them. Though its full power was not shown in the manga, in the anime, it was shown that this technique has enough power to destroy Pain's chakra rods, as well as momentarily stun the target after the attack lands.
Eight Trigrams Palm Heavenly Spin Absolute Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Defensive Required Form(s): Second Trigram, Fourth Trigram, Sixth Trigram Description: This jutsu is simply a larger, more powerful version of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin. At a radius of nearly ten feet, the area that this technique covers is quite large, even making it a useful offensive technique in close quarters. (7 post Cool-down)
Eight Trigrams Crumbling Mountain Bombardment Rank: A Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Required Form(s): Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: The strikes the enemy's vital area while discharging their chakra within the enemy's body until it bursts from the back in the form of a small thin beam that rapidly enlarges into a massive mountain-destroying wave of chakra. This technique seals off tenketsu. (Locks the Chakra of an opponent for three posts, Four post cool-down, triggers four post cool down for all variations of the Hakke Rokujūyon)
True Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms Rank: S Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram (cannot be used in the Eighth Trigram) Description: A combination of the original Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, the Chakra Burst, and the Eight Trigrams Crumbling Mountain Bombardment technique, the user leaps forward and strikes the enemy several times in the front before dashing behind them. He strikes several more times until using an Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin-like strike to launch the enemy into the air. There the user appears over the opponent and strikes them several more times before hitting them once more with a huge amount of chakra, blasting them into the ground with a beam of chakra. This beam delivers a large amount of concussive force, easily able to break bones. Assuming the opponent is even able to get back up after this assault, their chakra flow will be completely cut off for six posts. (Completely locks an opponents chakra for 8 posts; 10 post cool-down, does not share cool-downs with any other variations of the technique.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
List of Terms:
NinTaijutsu - A technique which uses both stamina and chakra. Unless otherwise noted, its cost is split between chakra and stamina evenly, meaning a C-ranked NinTaijutsu will cost . For all intents and purposes is considered both Ninjutsu and Taijutsu.

Please do give any feedback on this, I think that it could be a good guideline for other styles, but I definitely need someone to take a look and tell me what they think!

I think we should decide what abilities sttyles are able to give in general, as well as a good format to work with. Since as is, Taijutsu styles are incredibly ill defined and dont really mesh very well.

Hikaro_rin I think we should decide what abilities sttyles are able to give in general, as well as a good format to work with. Since as is, Taijutsu styles are incredibly ill defined and dont really mesh very well. You bring up an excellent point, but for this style specifically, which is a little different from your standard style, since it's both a bloodline specific style and a canon one at that, I would appreciate some feedback on it specifically. Most of these techniques, with very few exceptions, are canon, which is not to say that that we have to have them, but there is a reason they're there, beyond me just wanting them there. The stances obviously are not, but again, I need some feedback, just as far as what people think may or may not be balanced. If this isn't something the crew has time to work on atm that's fine, and I don't mean to sound rude, but the feedback you've offered is not very conducive to getting this style in working condition, if it is not already there.

Just kind of blew through this quickly so sorry for any misinterpretations or mistakes. All in all though I've loved this style since you first made and really hope it can be integrated into the guild.
Third Trigram: Only issue I have is the penalty to the opponents stats. Personally, I think a +5 sp buff to agility would work out better. Also it balances out with the penalty to strength.
Tenketsu Strikes: I really like this one, it really captures the fighting style for me. However, do they only pay the price for successful strikes or attempted strikes? Also I think it should be fine to perform attacks that aren't specific attacks especially if you are paying a price for it anyway.
Fifth Trigram: You might have to describe how the effects are split between each target since I'm assuming all of them aren't getting the full brunt of the force.
Seventh Trigram: So the opponent receives a reflex boost? Typo?
Sweeping Counter: So a successful parry places them behind the opponent. Do they still 10 sp in Reflex more than the opponent or has that risen/changed?
Eight Trigram: +10 sp to Strength AND Power is definitely extreme man. I get it only lasts for one attack and has a long cooldown but there are no repercussions to really justify that kind of boost.
Eight Trigrams Crumbling Mountain Bombardment: Besides sealing chakra what kind of physical damage does this 'mountain destroying wave of chakra' do to the body? Also for an ability that completely seals chakra, while entirely in bounds with the style, the cooldown should be a little bit longer than the duration of the effect.
True Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms: Awesome combo technique but you have to know that some characters will attempt to get out of the combo. With some of the combo techniques I've been working on the first strike is a strong stunning blow that allows the user to get off so many attacks. Note: However with the Agility stat you can definitely separate the combo allowing more of it to be accomplished the higher the difference in Agility between combatants. Just spit-ballin'

Martin Spiralwave Just kind of blew through this quickly so sorry for any misinterpretations or mistakes. With some of the combo techniques I've been working on the first strike is a strong stunning blow that allows the user to get off so many attacks. Note: However with the Agility stat you can definitely separate the combo allowing more of it to be accomplished the higher the difference in Agility between combatants. Just spit-ballin' Thank you for the feedback, it is definitely very much appreciated mrgreen Third Trigram: Yeah after looking at it, a boost to the Dexterity stat would probably be better, since I think that is what we're going with as the "accuracy" stat. The original idea behind the [Reflex] penalty to the opponent was that techniques used in this stance are supposed to be harder to dodge, I clearly just didn't come up with the best way to do that lol. Tenketsu Strikes: Excellent point, I need to make that more clear, I think that one should have to pay the chakra cost regardless of whether or not the technique lands. Fifth Trigram: Another good point, that isn't very clear, but no, the opponents would not all receive the full effect of the technique. If it were two opponents and the 64 palms was used it would have the effect of the 32 palms for both, but the cooldown time would still be for the 64 palm. Anything where you couldn't evenly divide the effects into smaller verisions of a "palms" technique would follow the rules for the [Tenketsu Strikes] technique. Seventh Trigram: It wasn't a typo, the idea was to make it harder for the Hyuga to hit their opponents using this form, but allowing for more chances to hit, obviously a better way to handle it would probably be to just reduce the Hyuga's [Dexterity], basically the same issue as with the [Third Trigram] lol Sweeping Counter: The Hyuga would still receive a [Dexterity] penalty to hitting with the follow up technique, yes, unless they were a Taijutsu Master, in which case this would count as the first technique. Crumbling Mountain Bombardment: Good point, I will try to make it more clear how much damage the technique does, and the cool-down is technically one post longer, but you're right it would be best to make it longer, probably like 6 post cool-down i think? True Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms: I think you bring up a good point, we definitely need some way to handle "combo" techniques, I'll try to work something out, but that being said, I'm not necessarily opposed to people having the opportunity to break combos, we just need a good system in place to handle that sort of thing. Thank you again for all the excellent feedback, I'll try to get to work on these things asap! mrgreen

Background: References to canon should, as always, be removed. Especially now that we're in an alternate past.
The reference to using the technique to destroy chakra constructs should be either removed or edited. Chakra always interacts with chakra, meaning any such chakra construct can destroy another. Admittedly the Byakugan gives an advantage here in that it allows one to see the chakra if it is invisible or hidden inside of something, such as Kidomaru's webbing, but that should be mentioned in the Byakugan itself, if anywhere.
Rules: The early stages shouldn't need the Byakugan, and those with a transplant should be able to learn even without being a clan member. Therefore I suggest altering that rule to “Requires Byakugan for later stages” or similar.
Rule two should be altered later on when we decide which stage of the Byakugan itself allows one to see the tenketsu.
We have no actual rules on main and branch members, and I don't think we should, meaning that particular rule is pointless.
Stages: I'd recommend changing the stages to lettered ranks instead of official ranks. A character might have sufficient stats to learn some stages without holding the official rank due to slow promotions or something.
Stage One: If the stance is canon, it might not hurt to include images.
Chakra Needle: I honestly don't see where this fits in the taijutsu style, but it seems way too early for the character to be learning to fire pure chakra projectiles at a distance, considering they haven't even learned to use them in melee yet. Byakugan also doesn't enhance accuracy, it just widens the user's field of vision. The dexterity necessary for accurate attacks is something they learn separately. (Side note: While I don't think the technique fits where it is, it could exist elsewhere. But, rather than Power, I suggest Control.)
Stage Two: Shinobi is plural. Shinobis isn't a word. Grammar! Yay! I'd say slip something into that last description paragraph to where people don't assume it means they can change stance on the fly. If that is what it means, no, cause that's a profession benefit.
Pictures if available for the stance.
Sweeping Block: Honestly this sounds like it should be a stance in and of itself. It's rather well designed for a defensive stance since it incorporates no truly specific actions. I don't really like a technique granting stat boosts, however small, but it'd be alright as an actual stance. Maybe build the (Effect) section of this right into the stance?
Empty Palm: Didn't this show up really late in the series, as an advanced form of the Kaiten that only higher ranked members were able to use? I remember it being rather bizarrely powerful, not something I'd expect to be an early stage, much less D rank. The actual power of the attack should be defined though, unless it's either locked at D rank or attacked to Power.
Stage Three: Their will be?
I don't like having accessing the Byakugan linked to the taijutsu. Some users of the bloodline won't even bother with the style at all. And learning to strike the tenketsu definitely shouldn't be coming at the same time as learning basic precision striking, and certainly not if they really just activated the bloodline. I shall however assume that this is a holdover for now, since you probably haven't edited much if at all since we talked about the bloodline itself a bit.
Picture for stance, again. I keep asking this simply because some of these sound a bit confusing. XD
It seems strange for only tai specs to get the bonus for a stance. In this instance, you have a straight up penalty for some reason, but no bonus unless you're a specialist. Side note, odd to have a strength penalty in an offensive stance. I'll assume that's something to do with the techniques.
Strike of Stone: Sort of feel like each of these “Wounds” should be their own technique. Or, better yet, if these are considered to simply be pressure points, they should be in some way available for everyone to poke at. Essentially, I'm asking you to make a separate list of the various pressure points and their effects that we can put up somewhere, for people to use in this and other styles, and even for medical stuff. I know at least one other style that is supposed to include such things, and while it makes sense for Jyuuken to start out with pressure points, I'd rather not restrict them entirely to the one style. It'd just be weird.
Also, a “Rank” is a full 20 points. Miiight want to alter that in some way. Perhaps percentages?
Stirke of Breeze: See previous. Also, in addition, you should change the effect to specify that each point only effects the limb beyond that point. For instance, taking out the foot or hand would still leave the rest of the limb usable, but taking out the hip or shoulder takes out the entire limb. Also, on this one in particular, a Dex penalty would make more sense than strength.
Tenketsu Strikes: Not at this rank. Should move up a few stages. But, other problems. One, the organs are only effected if you hit specific tenketsu directly connected to that organ, and only with a particularly strong strike. I'd remove that aspect from this technique entirely and make it another one specifically meant for targeting organs. Second, it needs to be modified in some way to where the chakra is blocked only in specific areas. Blocking the arms stops hand seals from working, but you can still use seal less jutsu, assuming the jutsu can be used from other points on the body. Sealing the feet prevents wall walking, but doesn't stop you from making seals. Stuff like that. Should also specify how many tenketsu are on each point of the body in order to better judge how many strikes are actually needed to stop someone casting from that area. And of course a slowly increasing overall control penalty according to how many of their total tenketsu are blocked. Probably a percentage based reduction. The reduction should also be from the control trait, not put directly into their chakra costs, as that makes Jyuuken completely overpower Control's benefits. Honestly this should be designed as a stage “rule” for a later stage, not a technique.
Stage Four: That dummy needs to either be custom tech or a proper jutsu. Probably both.
The “Training” here is definitely implying that you can change stances mid-action. I dislike this as, again, it takes away from spec benefits.
The stance can enhance your control stat, but it can't automagically give a -2 chakra cost. That's a psuedo-control bonus of 40 SP.
32 Palms: With the tenketsu description earlier, this technique would instantly nullify the chakra bonuses of a character with beyond S ranked control. 120 to be exact. Not right for a D ranked technique. Wait, D rank? Why on earth is this both D rank, AND in the second C rank stage? Also, this technique should not automatically stop someone from using chakra entirely. Sure it's 32 chakra points. But out of the 361 mentioned earlier, that's not a lot. The technique itself should merely be a series of rapid strikes. The chance of sealing should be left entirely to the tenketsu rules.
64 Palms: This technique should not be on the same stage as 32 palms. Besides that, same issues as before. Actually, considering this series of techniques should have both Agility and Dexterity requirements, this one's requirements should be about double the previous one's.
Just noticed the cost listed. Being a purely taijutsu move enhanced with another technique, the cost should be purely stamina, and the chakra cost determined by the number of strikes.
Kaiten: No house split. Shouldn't even be mentioned. Character mentions should also not be mentioned, especially as they are both trivia, and false. Such false information should only ever be included in a jutsu description if it is immediately corrected. That said, being the “Ultimate Defense” of the style, it shouldn't be showing up at such a low stage. Whether canon characters used it at that rank or not doesn't matter, especially when the canon character was described as a prodigy, and everyone in the entire world was still shocked shitless that he was able to use it. Besides that, if it's scalable, the scale needs to be defined in range and cost. The exact defensive power should also be noted, as it is not in fact an invincible defense, just a very good one.
… I'm bored now, and I can tell that the issues noted earlier on are only going to compound as so far I've mostly been saying techniques needed to be raised in rank. So, rather than continue, I'm gonna post this as is. You can mostly figure out anything further from there, and I can review it again after you've done some work on it.
Amusingly though, as negative as most of my responses might seem, I really do like it. It mostly just needs better scaling.

Amusingly though, as negative as most of my responses might seem, I really do like it. It mostly just needs better scaling. I would agree with allowing people without the byakugan being allowed to learn early stages, except for the fact that the secrets of Jūken are supposed to be closely held by the clan, to the point of killing anyone that attempts to steal them. I think we might want a vote concerning this, but I mean if someone really wants a style that is similar to Juken without the Byakugan specific moves, Pi Qua Quan is a style with a similar basis that would be universal. They're both based, to some degree, off of Kenpo, so I don't think it would be a good idea to allow people that are not Hyuga to have access to even the early levels of the style. The rule concerning main/branch members is largely for rp purposes, I absolutely agree that people with a Hyuga character should not have to worry about learning higher stages of the style, but in terms of the world I was just trying to suggest that branch members would technically have to go about it in a different way, but in terms of game rules it would essentially all the be the same regardless. Stages: Good point I will definitely make that change Stage One: I'm honestly not sure if it's canon, when I made the style I tried my best to base the different stances off of stuff from the show, but I can't be sure, I'll try to find images though. Chakra Needle: I'm pretty sure this was a canon technique from naurtopedia or something like that, but it could easily be remove or put somewhere else. Sweeping Block: That's a good point, and I suppose it could just be worked into the [Second Trigram], that actually makes a lot of sense, I'll make that edit for sure. Empty Palm: I honestly can't remember where I found this one, or where it originally came up, but the original description is not far from what I have, and compared to other techniques I just thought it would fit better as a lower ranking technique, I can definitely try to better define its power level though, as it is most certainly intended to be a lower powered technique. Stage Three: The main reason I have Tenketsu strikes in this stage instead of stage four was because I thought it made more sense for this to be learned in a stage prior to the stage where they would actually start to learn the full techniques such as the 64 palms technique, but I could easily change that. It was actually originally in stage four, but when I was condensing the style I shifted this down a stage because I shifted the chakra locking techniques down as well. I can't remember the original reason behind only Tai specs getting the bonus from the [Third Trigram] anymore, but I've actually decided that giving a [Dextrerity] bonus makes more sense, and it should be for all Hyuga. The strength penalty is there because strikes in this stage are only meant to use the middle and fore-finger, so you're essentially poking people, which I thought wouldn't carry the same amount of force as an open palm or fist, and the stance is supposed to make it harder to dodge attacks so I didn't want people to be unable to dodge attacks that were still just as powerful as normal, especially since the techniques this stance most benefits are meant more to debilitate rather than just deal damage. Strike of Stone/Breeze: I understand what you're saying, I just wanted to lump the pressure points together because the idea of the technique was to apply debilitating effects rather than deal flat damage, so I lumped them into the same category because of the penalty associated with them. It just seemed like it would be an annoying number of techniques to have when they all essentially did the same thing. Also, just because there are pressure point strikes in this style doesn't mean we can't allow them in others, but I don't personally like the idea of making them universal techniques because then you don't even have to learn a style to perform techniques that should be very technically difficult to perform. The change to strike of breeze affecting [Dexterity] does make sense to a degree, but I personally feel like a person's dexterity has more to do with than just their arms, and admittedly almost any physical stat wouldn't be completely dependent on just one part of the body, but I thought strength made more sense with the arms because your arms are what is generally going to be used to strike people.(though obviously you have the exception with kicks). My point being that it was largely a matter of picking a stat to reduce (or in other words, it was an issue of game mechanics), rather than trying to be completely realistic, because realistically getting struck in any of those pressure points could potentially reduce more than one type of physical stat. I can change it, but I just wanted to share my thought process first. The Rank thing was just where I forgot to edit it for the new stat system, my bad. I'll have to look at the other concerns later, it's past my bedtime blaugh

I would say the style itself is still held and protected by the Hyuuga, just that they should have the right and ability to teach it to anyone they want, up to the stage where it becomes truly impossible. Which would basically be up to the pressure points and no further.
Empty Palm: A lower level version probably wouldn't hurt, maybe not with the chakra effect so soon, but still. But, I just did some brief research on it, and only two instances of it in use in the series actually came up. In one, Neji sends Kisame flying with it. Not overly impressive cause Kisame recovers very quickly. But in the other... It turns out it was actually Neji's final attack, and was capable of stopping Jyuubi's hand, and even knocking it back. Still not overly impressive sounding, until you consider that Jyuubi's hand was about the size of a mountain at the time. Whether you gave the technique that much power or not, I can unfortunately easily imagine others relating the technique directly to the canon, and basing their results on canon instead of the jutsu description.
Third Trigram: Personally I'd hope that people would recognize on their own that a finger poke isn't as powerful as a full on punch without a strength penalty. Especially if that's the only reason for it. You'd just specify in the techniques themselves that they don't cause much outright damage if it seemed necessary.
Pressure Points: I wasn't really implying a universal list that could be learned like universal techniques. I meant a list that styles or even techniques could take advantage of. I mean, if one style is adding pressure points, which are universal to bodies, but another style that also focuses on pressure points has different ones / effects for some reason, it's just weird. Better in my opinion to have a master list all styles can refer back to.
I was also thinking a bit further, and it actually seems, after said further thought, like the effect of these particular ones should actually be restrained to the joint struck. Hit the wrist, can't use the hand. Hit the elbow, can't use the lower arm. Hit the shoulder, can't use the upper arm. And so on. The other joints should still be fine, even if that does mean you're flailing a bit, lol.
You don't have to worry too much about which stat to reduce, so long as it makes sense. You're not reducing that stat for the entire body anyways, just the section that got damaged. The only thing that can really effect a stat over the entire body would be poison, or possible some more advanced pressure points closer to the brain. Points on the limb aren't going to effect anything but that limb. But, even so, Dexterity is more linked to the arms than strength would be. Yeah it's useful for other areas of the body, but it's main use is in the arms and hands.
Suggestions: Going back to the stages, you might want to set the stages by levels as well as rank. Then having more than one within a rank makes a tiny bit more sense. You should also give each stages "Training" a stat requirement that has to be met before the actual techniques can be started on. I'm not entirely decided, but it might be okay if training within styles is defined well enough for character to earn Exp through style training, though the Exp would be limited to the stat it's meant to be increasing, and you wouldn't be allowed to use training methods outside of your own stage. They would also need to be limited to only work up to the required stats, or people could sit at a stage and cheat their stats endlessly.

Chakra Dummy: I'll write up the custom tech for this, though I don't understand why it would require a jutsu as well.
Empty Palm: I personally don't think it would be necessary to add another lower level technique, simply because I already have palm thrust listed in the first stage, which is essentially what you suggested, a version of the empty palm that doesn't use chakra. And of course if we do intend to make a characters Strength stat effect the damage/ effectiveness of taijutsu techniques then it seems unnecessary to have too many different versions of the same basic technique, especially when there are canon techniques that already offer those types of variants.
Third Trigram: I can see your point, that makes sense, I'll remove the bit about reducing strength.
Pressure Points: While I certainly don't disagree with having pressure points have a fairly universal effect, and I think some sort of master list for people to reference to makes sense. I do however think that we needn't necessarily make pressure points that are overly specific or have effects that only effect a single limb. I say this because, while it does make sense from the stand-point of realism, from a game mechanics stand-point it makes more sense to go with flat stat penalties and techniques that aren't overly focused for each individual pressure point. I'm following the general guideline of KISS(keep it simple stupid), and I personally feel like the more complex we make these sorts of techniques the more it's just going to detract from the flow of combat. I do need to go back and edit the stat reductions, but I think that the mechanics of these, and really any technique need to be kept relatively simple.
Tenketsu Strikes/64 palms variants: Now I understand your reasoning for why these techniques should follow the same rules as the Tenketsu strikes, but I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree. It is made clear in the Canon that even the 32 palms is enough to seal chakra completely, it is not about how many tenketsu are struck with these techniques, but with which ones. The [Tenketsu Strikes] technique is a simplified version that is simply meant as a way for practitioners of the style to supplement their basic attacks, and also to help determine the effects of splitting the different variations of the 64 palms amongst multiple opponents when utilizing the 5th Trigram. And as these techniques are the bread and butter of the style, and therefore the Hyuga Kekkai Genkai I don't think that they should require any additional stat requirements beyond the stage requirements and those already listed in the up-coming Stat system, but I will keep your suggestions in mind when coming up with the stat requirements for each stage.
4th Trigram: I can see where you're coming from with this, except that it only affects Juken techniques, and only the ones that can be used in the 4th Trigram anyway
Kaiten: I don't think that it makes sense to remove the bit referencing canon characters because it is immediately relevant to the potency of the technique and gives people an idea of just how powerful it is. What's more I did have a system for how the technique scaled in power, the only thing that was missing was the actual range for the dome, but I made it quite clear how the defenses worked and how to overcome them. I will however alter when it is learned, especially when I originally had it at a later stage, but moved it as part of condensing the style.

It has been remarked that any chakra-based substance can be destroyed by this technique. It is done by leaking chakra from the chakra openings in one's hands and molding it into a needle-like shape to slice through the chakra.
The ability to inflict severe internal trauma with minimal external force, combined with chakra network manipulation, makes the Gentle Fist the most reputable and fearsome taijutsu style known in all of the world.
Rules - Must be a Hyūga clan member with the Byakugan - The Tenketsu cannot be struck without the Byakugan being activated - Branch family members are not technically allowed to learn the higher forms of Jūken, they can only be taught up to stage four of the style before they must either "try and develop their own style", or they could try and steal the scrolls necessary to learn the higher stages. (no actual in game penalties are applied to branch members attempting to learn the higher stages, this is simply an element of the rp to encourage those wishing to play as branch family members to come up with unique stories for how their characters learn the style.)
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 10 [Control]: 10 [Power]: 10
Stance Learned:
The First Trigram: The most basic form of Jūken, this form allows for the easiest transition into the others. The practitioner positions their primary arm forward, with the palm facing the opponent, while the secondary arm is cocked to the side with the palm facing the ground; the primary leg is positioned to the front with the foot cocked slightly to the side while the secondary foot is held back with the foot placed perpendicular to the direction you’re facing.
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 20 [Dexterity]: 15 [Agility]: 15
Stance Learned:
The Second Trigram: The primary defensive form of Jūken, the user places their primary arm behind their back, while not actually touching their back, and places their other arm in front of their body, palm held parallel to the ground. The primary leg is positioned to the back, foot cocked slightly away from your self, carrying your weight on this foot, while the secondary leg is placed forward, foot facing the opponent. Though this form is next to useless if trying to act offensively, it makes deflecting attacks and then quickly counter-attacking significantly easier. (Allows the user to effectively block techniques by diverting the blows away from their body; By giving up an attack action in the previous post, the Hyūga can deflect taijutsu techniques thrown at them; to successfully deflect a technique, the Hyūga must make an opposed reflex check against their opponent, if the opponents reflex stat is 10 or more sp greater than that of the Hyūga, then the Hyūga is unable to deflect attacks of equal or greater rank; Taijutsu Master Hyūga receive a temporary +5 sp stat boost to their reflex when using this technique; The cost of the technique is equal to the rank of the technique deflected -1 rank, so deflecting an A-ranked technique costs B-rank stamina, to a minimum of D rank cost)
Techniques:
Stat Requirements:
[Perception]: 20 [Control]: 20 [Dexterity]: 25 [Agility]: 20
Stance Learned:
Third Trigram: A primarily offensive form, the Third Trigram focuses on rapid and precise strikes using the middle and index finger. The student keeps both arms in front of themselves, with their arms positioned in a manner similar to a praying mantis, elbows cocked with hands curled at the wrists, middle and index finger extended downwards. ( When utilizing the Third Trigram, the opponent receives an effective -5 sp Reflex penalty to evasion against the following techniques: Strike of Stone, Strike of Leaf, Strike of Pain, Tenketsu Strikes, Eight Trigrams 32 Palm, Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms), or Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms.)
Techniques:
Strike of Stone Rank: D Type: Taijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): Third Trigram, Fifth Trigram, Seventh Trigram Description: Named for making an opponent as immobile as a stone, this technique is used to strike at one of three pressure points on either leg: the Wound of the Thigh, located roughly where the leg locks in with the hip; the Wound of the Lower Leg, located on the back of the knee; or the Wound of the Foot, located between the Achilles Tendon and ankle.( Opponents successfully struck by this technique will be unable to move the affected leg from the point struck downward for three posts, or at the cost of 5 stamina, the opponent may move with a -10 sp [Agility] penalty, though this causes an excruciating amount of pain. If both legs are affected then the opponent still only pays 5 stamina but will suffer a -20 sp [Agility] penalty.
(Opponents successfully struck by this technique will be unable to move their arm or produce hand-signs for three posts, or at the cost of 5 stamina, the opponent may use their arms, but will suffer a -10 sp [Strength] penalty, though this causes an excruciating amount of pain. If both arms are affected then the opponent still only pays 5 stamina but will suffer a -20 sp [Strength] penalty.
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 40 [Control]: 30 [Agility]: 25 [Dexterity]: 30 [Power]: 25
Stance Learned:
Fourth Trigram: A supplemental form, the Fourth Trigram is taught to teach the students of Juken how to more easily mold and control the flow of chakra throughout the body. Resembling the First Trigram from the waist down, the student positions both arms at their side, elbows cocked at a ninety degree angle at the waist with their finger tips pointing forward and their palms facing the sky. (When utilizing the Fourth Trigram, all Jūken techniques of C-rank or higher cost 1 fewer chakra points)
Techniques:
Tenketsu Strikes Rank: C (see below for chakra cost) Type: NinTaijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram | Third Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: The practitioner has learned to strike at their opponents internal chakra coil, and in so doing they can cut off or increase the flow of the Tenketsu struck. In addition because of the close relation between the Tenketsu and chakra producing organs, if the Tenketsu are struck it will also cause damage to internal organs. (When striking at Tenketsu when not using a specific technique, each strike costs 1 chakra point; for every five tenketsu points that are struck successfully, the opponent takes a +1 chakra cost modifier to any use of chakra to a maximum of +4, this effect lasts for up to four posts and is renewed with every successful strikes; Note: the Byakugan must be active to strike at Tenketsu)
Eight Trigrams 32 Palm Rank: C Type: NinTaijutsu – Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram | Third Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: It is essentially a halved version of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, but seems to be no less effective.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Special Jounin | Stage Five
Once the user is comfortable with striking the inner chakra coil they can be taught the higher forms of the style. Up to this point practitioners of this style are only taught the basics of the style in order to develop the skills necessary to perform the higher ranking techniques. This stage teaches the user to defend themselves against multiple opponents while still maintaining a sound offense.
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 60 [Control]: 40 [Dexterity]: 45 [Agility]: 40 [Perception]: 45
When a Taijutsu Master Hyūga utilizes the Fifth Trigram they can use the following techniques against multiple opponents: Eight Trigrams 32 Palms, Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms), Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms), True Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.
Hakke Rokujūyon Shō(Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms) Rank: B Type: NinTaijutsu - Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram | Third Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: This jutsu closes off sixty-four specific chakra points on an opponent's body with the gentle fist, effectively eliminating their ability to use chakra for quite some time and making it quite difficult for them to move.
(The user decides how large or small the chakra dome will be, and spends the appropriate amount of chakra, with the size of the dome being roughly five feet in diameter per rank, meaning a D-ranked dome would be ten feet in diameter, while a B-ranked dome would be 20 feet in diameter, though they must have a Power stat great enough to learn ninjutsu of the appropriate rank; blocks techniques of equal or lower rank to the chakra spent, and reduces the damage of Ninjutsu techniques one rank higher by half, but can be penetrated by ninjutsu of two ranks higher or greater; Taijutsu/Kenjutsu techniques of three ranks or higher can penetrate the technique, but are reduced in power; 5 post cool down)
Shugohakke Rokujūyon Shō(Protection of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms") Rank: B Type: Ninjutsu Required Forms: Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: This jutsu is a combination of the Eight Trigram Palms Heavenly Spin and the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 80 [Control]: 50 [Dexterity]: 70 [Power]: 40 [Agility]: 55
Techniques
Hakke Hyaku Nijūhachi Shō(Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms) Rank: A (B-rank Chakra cost) Type: NinTaijutsu - Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram | Third Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: This jutsu is essentially a doubled version of Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms.
Stat Requirements:
[Control]: 70 [Dexterity]: 80 [Perception]: 60 [Agility]: 60
Techniques
Eight Trigrams Ultimate Wind Rank: A Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Range: 60 ft / 18 m Required Form(s): First Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: The user uses Air Palm twice on his opponent, sending them crashing into a large object or structure, before using it again to collapse the structure on top of the opponent.
Stat Requirements:
[Strength]: 100 [Control]: 70 [Dexterity]: 90 [Perception]: 70 [Agility]: 80
Techniques
Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists Rank: A (costs B-rank chakra) Type: NinTaijutsu | Offensive Required Form(s): First Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Fifth Trigram | Seventh Trigram Description: The user forms two large lion-shaped shrouds of chakra around their hands, then attacks the opponent with them. Though its full power was not shown in the manga, in the anime, it was shown that this technique has enough power to destroy Pain's chakra rods, as well as momentarily stun the target after the attack lands.
Eight Trigrams Palm Heavenly Spin Absolute Rank: A Type: Ninjutsu | Defensive Required Form(s): Second Trigram | Fourth Trigram | Sixth Trigram Description: This jutsu is simply a larger, more powerful version of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin.
Unless otherwise noted, its cost is split between chakra and stamina evenly, meaning a C-ranked NinTaijutsu will cost 6 chakra points and 6 stamina points. For the purposes of learning, these techniques are considered Taijutsu, and therefore require the appropriate amount of sp in the [Strenght] stat.
