At some point in his life, Quillan realized that knowing how to swim might be important one day - it could save his life! If the school were to flood or if were mysteriously teleported to the middle of the ocean or if the school were teleported to the ocean ... well, let's just say he wouldn't be surprised if something like that were to happen. And then what? Would he just flail around in the water, hoping he wouldn't drown before help came? What if help never came? Plus, he always wore his coat, which was a bit on the heavier side, and that would inevitably drag him down, where passing sea creatures would find rags wrapped around the skeleton or whatever was left of the ink demon. Even thinking about it made Quillan shudder, which was why the ink demon decided he would have to learn as soon as possible! But how? He was sure jumping into a 20 feet pool would not be such a great idea this wasn't like when animal mothers tossed their kids into the water ... Quillan didn't have that natural ability to learn how to swim … so he had to find a teacher! Which was why he found himself staring at the pool at school. He saw a flash of red and black in the water and something seemed to pull him towards the ghoul. Also, something told him that she knew how to swim which was the most important part (maybe it was how fast she was gliding through the water)! He walked up to her after she'd gotten out of the water and gently tapped her on the shoulder. "Uhmm … excuse me, you know how to swim right? Could I ask you to teach me?”xiStoleYurVamps wow I didn't know what to do I also looked through all your michael rps and they all seemed to be about wings and water and quillan doesnt have wings SOOOOO ... BUT let me know if you want them to do something elseeeee

For the siren who had been busy trying to find more hints of her sister, for feathers, and for friends, swimming was how she relaxed. It was second nature to her as was flying, and the notion to just stop and drop (and roll over) to take a dip or dive into any cool body of water was an allure that Michael hardly wished to pass up. Sure, she had gathered some key information about his sister Israfel, sure she could just get up and go looking but that was work. All work and no play made a siren a dumb goose. And any siren worth her salt knew no boil would want a goose for a ghoul- they would want a swan. And to be a swan, Michael had to live fast, loose, and free. Which did mean dropping all her work to take a ‘day off’ for a swim. She could afford that right? Right? An hour after convincing herself that yes, she could take time from her little hunt, (and admittedly homework which she wasn’t all that interested in to start with), for a swim over at the pool. It was a longer flight to the lake and she was just going for a casual dip she told herself. Just a break, a warm up to cool down. This was a lie as as soon as she dove in Michael was so done with work she might as well have written off her entire day as ‘swim day’. He was free. A firebird. Free style swimming, she wasn’t bound to do anything that day, (aside from gross homework that no one liked and wanted to do and she could just say a minipet ate it or something.). A few strokes up and down the lanes she hopped out, sitting at the pool’s edge, grinning at how brilliant she was to have gone out. Her smile turned to confusion as a student she didn’t know tapped her shoulder, prompting earwings to flutter and her head to tilt at the expected question, (which she thought would have been obvious but really wasn’t obvious in the least), and the unexpected request, (she was not a teacher and if so she was probably a bad one given how her and her sisters had once tried to teach the chicks back home on their first ocean trip). “Yes and yes?” She left it as her own question. “I am a very good swimmer, but I am unsure if I would be a good teacher.” She stood, shaking her wings free of water droplets. “But I am willing to try! Have you swum before? Can you breathe underwater? If I throw you in will you die I don’t want to get in trouble- Also what is your name mine is Michael it is nice to meet you.” Michael was not ever going to be a teacher after graduation.

Well, she hadn't said no! "I think it should be okay even if you don't know how to teach ... hopefully. I just need to learn the basics correctly and how to keep my head above the water and I should be okay! Nothing too fancy. I've been in water up to my waist but my family and I were just fooling around on the beach and we were just walking around on the shore when the wave came so I don't think that really counts as any kind of swimming experience, so no? I can't breathe underwater ... and I think I will probably drown if you throw me in so please don't? And my name is Quillan Atramentis, but just call me Quillan! Nice to meet you Michael and thank you so much for agreeing to help me."
Quillan was pretty sure he'd answered all of the questions that had been thrown at him - this ghoul sure had a lot to ask! Although if he were teaching someone something that could be dangerous, he would have a lot of questions too. He was really eager to learn from her and glad she had agreed to teach him because she seemed like one of those professionals seen in swimming races or some other competitive, water related sport on the skelevision. He dropped his belongings as far as he could from the pool in case others came along and began a splash fest but close enough for him to keep an eye out for his stuff. You could never be too weary at school, considering some of the tricksters he'd seen pulling pranks on others, and to him, his notebooks were priceless. He sat at the edge of the pool, the water reaching mid - thigh, and said, "I'm ready!"

Should be okay was a mild guess. A safe guess at any rate. If the boil ‘died’ he’d just reform in the nurse’s office at any rate right? Maybe. Michael didn’t want to just go around testing that theory but it was kind of tempting now, the idea to just push him in and she if he’d drown, dissipate, then reform in the nurse’s office. Tempting, but not a very good way to make friends, or to aid in introductions. “…The basics?” She slid back into the water, bopping up and down, knees tucked under her. “Like floating? A basic is floating and many thing float! Most undead do- the dead float really well.” Not that she knew from first hand experience or anything. She sniffed at him, and “You don’t smell dead so that is a start. And floating is not just okay- where you going to go if all you do is float? With the tide. And tides take you further out to sea- you’d get stuck!” She shook her head at him. He was just like a newly hatched chick. “Okay Quillan! Lets get started.” Swimming up to him she immedietly grabbed at his hand, attempting to pull him further in. “This is not deep enough! We need at least chin high to start.” Michael had no idea what was actually dangerous and what was safe when it came to new swimmers.

The ink demon couldn't help but snicker at what the siren said about the undead floating. In regard to actually moving about in the water, he didn't really need to learn did he? He could just drift and wait until someone came along. Plus, swimming took more energy than just staying adrift, and if he actually swam, then he would have to worry about passing out from exhaustion (if he were stranded in the middle of no where and had to reach land) and sinking beneath the waves. But he was going to go with whatever the siren said because it was her lesson.
He slid off the side of the pool and into the water with Michael's tug. The initial shock of how cold the water was made him shiver but he soon got over it and began walking towards the deeper end. Once the water had reached a certain point, he began bobbing up and down because he was slowly making his way through the water by hopping with one foot on the tip of his toes. Once he was about chin high, he looked over to the siren and asked, "Now what?", struggling to keep the water out of his mouth.

There were a lot of ways for Michael to go about this. She could just tell him what to do, show him, combo it- or, she could kick his legs and teach him like she'd been taught. With no instructions at all. Sighing she figured that would risk the whole nurse thing she figured she'd be nice. "Okay. First you gotta float. Just kick off from the floor, not too hard though, and let go. Relax and let you body do the work for you. roll, lay on your back a bit- just don't fight the water, let it do what it does and you'll get it!" Hopefully.

Quillan's kick off from the pool floor was less of a kick and more like his feet had been gently lifted to the surface of the water; he hadn't been expecting the water to support him so easily and had been trying a test kick of sorts, but before he knew it, he was floating. "Like this?" the boiled asked his instructor, his mouth filling with water as he tried to speak but the gentle lapping of the pool resulted in water entering his mouth.
