So the nominees are out, once again, for the 2014 Emmys and once again all of the same names are up on the list because all the same people win every year almost, and what, are you surprised, Hannibal is no where to be found yet again. What the hell is up with that? I'm so pissed off.

It's only a matter of time before they win something a little more prestigious.

I think a couple things are responsible for Hannibal getting passed over:
* Horror is an under-appreciated genre (The Walking Dead didn't get nominations either, though I've heard the latest season was the best ever). stare
* People have a distorted idea of how disturbing it really is. C'mon, it's broadcast TV! No matter how scary it gets, there is a line they can't cross. It's a great show, and people are missing out. If you get really scared, hide your eyes like a little kid. Sheesh. You're willing to watch horror at the movies, why not on TV?!
The people who put together the nominations are perfectly willing to reward the graphic nudity, violence, rape, murder, and mutilation on Game of Thrones, but when it comes to even looking at another show, they turn into fainting Victorian ladies. rolleyes
One of my friends watches GoT, but is terrified of watching Hannibal. Some of the crap that goes on in GoT puts Hannibal to shame.
My other three close friends won't touch Hannibal with a ten-foot pole. Wusses.
If nothing else, Hannibal should have gotten a Cinematography nomination. The show is beautifully put together.
Mads deserved a nomination too, truthfully, as did the actor who played Mason Verger. God, he was spooky as hell.
Hugh was very good this season too. He's my favorite. heart
The Emmys are a bad joke! How many awards do shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men really need/deserve? Total BS.

xd Idk what more can that award body want in a show? I think the closest to us is True Detective and Fargo and they have noms.
I agree that the stuff happening in GoT is waaaaay too much more than Hannibal. And Hannibal's gore is delightfully masqueraded as art most of the time.
Speaking of Hugh and Mads part of me really wants these 2 to be in the new Doctor Strange movie. I really want Hugh to play Doc, and Mads can play any of his villains even as a voice actor.

The Emmy committee has never liked horror shows. Just look at the Walking Dead. I'm amazed that it didn't at least get something for cinematography, though. I'm constantly amazed by the artfulness of the show; it being very artsy is one of the reasons is viewings are lower than others shows (nobody ever lost money underestimating the taste of the American public) Overall, I'm disappointed. I think it definitely deserved at least some nominations.

I guess.

I totally agree with you. Those are completely valid reason, and in a way they are totally ridiculous if you think about it. Bad excuses on the part of whoever does the nominating for this award show. I mean seriously, Anthony Hopkins won an Oscar for his portrayal of Hannibal! Why is this incredible cast being snubbed for things like - oh they eat people on this show? I agree, in comparison to Game of Thrones, this show is light.

I would second this idea in a second!!! Everyone on Hannibal needs nominations, not just the actors and the show, but the writers, the effects people, the stunt people, the chefs and the set dressers and the costumers. It's a high quality show that deserves recognision.

I think it definitely deserved at least some nominations. From what I understand it's far more popular by non-american viewers. Canadians seem super into it and people in the Europe and all over Asia, and so that's why it's still doing well as a niche show. But because the ratings and stuff for the Emmys are all based on an american bias, that's where the trouble comes from. If it were up to international views to vote I think there would be so much more likelyhood for Hannibal to do well.
