The fact that his team mates had been staring in his dream of late hadn't helped. Or more precisely his nightmares - the Nightmare really given that the dream was always the same.
Although when Athene had agreed to speak to the PSSG about the Black Watch he had been genuinely been planning to, putting talk into action had been easier said than done - for a start he'd been kind of avoiding his team since the night of the city-wide black out which had ended with his and Ate's paths had once again crossing on the bottom floor of a warehouse and his one time training partner turned corrupt eternal yanking his starseed - and for a second he wasn't really feeling ready to face them.
The fact that his team mates had been staring in his dream of late hadn't helped. Or more precisely his nightmares - the Nightmare really given that the dream was always the same.
It started ordinarily enough, with him walking through the city as Arian carrying a bag of beads and mixed groceries before shifting to him being powered up as Athene, powerless as those he cared about were killed one by one and voices laughed and taunted him about how weak he was.
Then when he and the voices were the only ones left there was a pillar of darkness, a towering pillar of darkness that seemed to go on and on, bits of the city cracking and falling away into it as it rushed towards him and engulfed all in its wake.
It had left him feeling even less able to face his team, especially with his fears that he was the team's weakest member and it had left him downright dreading going to sleep at nights to the point where he had upped both his night time patrols as Athene and his coffee intake.
In the end Athene had ended up messaging the details about the Black Watch to his team and whilst he had messaged Ida and half-heartedly asked the Orchid senshi if they could meet up and talk, he also hadn't pushed too hard when his team mate had put him off.
Liryn wasn't so easy to avoid however and anyway he'd promised to speak to the Mauvian as well, so when he'd caught sight of the little bobtail following him whilst out on his evening patrol Athene had slowed down to wait for him, before asking when the other was closer "Liryn can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure" Liryn said cheerfully as he rubbed against Athene's ankles. A part of him wondered whether whatever the dark haired senshi wanted to talk to him about had something to do with the clock parts that was sitting under Arian's bed at the apartment as a result of his earlier attempts at trying to fiddle with the other's alarm clock.
But Athene's voice hadn't had that resigned tone to it like it had on the previous two occasions when he'd fiddled with the dark-haired senshi's clock and he [i[had put back the bits this time round - well most of them at any rate - it was only the really fiddly bits that were under the bed and a gear or two and he was pretty sure that Athene as Arian wouldn't miss them as the clock was still ticking this time round. Besides it wasn't as if Liryn was planning to leave the stuff lying under the bed forever - he was at least planning to sneak in and have another try at fiddling the gears back in later.
Leaping up on a nearby wall, he gave Athene a curious look "What did you want to talk about?"
Athene shook his head. "Not here" he said quietly." Despite the quiet of the night, he didn't really feel comfortable about chattering about the BlackWatch in the open. He set the take out cup of coffee that he'd picked earlier up from a late opening coffee shop prior to henshinining up. "There's an empty building nearby, we can talk on the rooftop - I'll give you a lift up and down."
Liryn gave the cup a disapproving look as he smelt the bitter smell of coffee intermixed with the sweetness of sugar - lots and lots of sugar if his nose was anything to go by. Ever the business with that nasty corrupt senshi from the warehouse his senshi had been drinking a lot of the coffee stuff. He'd also been patrolling a lot and staying out until late - although not alone - Liryn had been making sure of that by sticking to his senshi like a shadow. He wasn't sure if the amount of the coffee stuff that his senshi was drinking was good for him though and he made a mental note to either try looking it up on the laptop that he'd seen the next time he managed to sneak into the apartment or to try sneaking into the big book place one evening or as most people seemed to refer to it as - the Destiny City library.
Athene was scooping him up though and so he took the opportunity to wriggle up onto the dark-haired eternal's shoulder and settle himself there.
The building was, as Athene had said was nearby and although Liryn was dying to know what the other wanted to ask him given that his senshi didn't generally ask him for things, he managed to wait until they were both on the rooftop before lightly leaping down from Athene's shoulder and once again asking "So what did you want to talk about?"
"A senshi called Thraen is looking to set up something called a Black Watch" Athene said, adding when he saw Liryn open his mouth and taking a guess at what the little bobtail wanted to ask "The Black Watch would be a way that those of Order could use to help and support each other from information sharing to shared patrols to helping to support each other including new Senshi and Knights."
"You mean like how you keep an eye out for new senshi and knights when you go patrolling?"
Athene nodded, "Yes but on a bigger scale" after all the PSSG consisted of four members - mayhaps five if Athene ever got round to introducing Liryn to the rest of the team and the little bobtail decided to continue to hang around. Ironically Athene had no idea that Liryn had already two out of the three remaining members of the team and was on pretty friendly terms with Tsui and Ida. "Thraen's planning to have the initial meeting on July 12th on the Moon and has asked me to spread the word about. He's also looking for mauvian's to help out and I was wond..."
"Yes I'll help" Liryn said interrupting. "Of course I'll help." Before adding eagerly "Does that mean that I get to go to the Moon?" The idea was an exciting one.
Another nod "Yes, but Thraen will need your help to aura block first, I think he's got other mauvians helping too, he mentioned one called Ash."
"I know Ash" Liryn said cheerfully. "I haven't seen her in a bit though." In fact he hadn't seen her since the training session that Sailor Gunn had run, where he'd played tag with Horatio and Snowball before doing his part to help mask auras.
Athene had taken the opportunity to slip out his senshi phone and was using it to tap a message to Thraen, but he nodded at Liryn's comment putting it down to there maybe not being that many mauvians about. He hadn't counted on Liryn wanting to know what he was typing or on the fact that the little bobtail would want to send his own message to the eternal senshi of gardens.
The finished message ended up something like this:
SMS (Athene):
Hi Thraen, Liryn here borrowing Athene's phone. I'm happy to help you out with this Black Watch. I'll be with Athene on July 12th.
Btw: if you see Ash tell her hi from me.
--------------
Hi Thraen, spoke to Liryn and he's happy to help. Also spoken to my team and messaged my contacts. I know off another senshi who may be interested and am going to try and see if I can meet up with her.

After giving the message a quick scan, Athene hit send and if it wasn't quite true that he'd spoken to his team, he had messaged them and passed the message on that way. Up next would be trying to get hold of Pasiphae, but that would have to wait until another night. Tonight.. Tonight he had a patrol to finish.
