It was almost like the pumpkin was a magnet for the tall goofy Muut. Every now and again he'd drop what he was doing, meander in and just stare at where the pumpkin where it rested in the crib, sometimes he even petted it a little bit and whispered quietly at it. Kettil was a doting and very excited father.
Today it was no different as he just adoringly stared at the pumpkin, he had the day off. That meant he could spend the day adoring everyone in his household, and right now it was pumpkin time. At least until he froze for a moment.
"Freya...? Freeeeyaaaaaa..." He turned to go look for her. "I think I'm forgetting something..."
"I think I forgot to send out the announcements," Kettil rambled off in a sharp whisper, hoping Freya didn't hear.

Freya worked from home a lot more now that she had a pumpkin to watch over, but that left her no less busy. The sound of typing was her pumpkins lullaby, as her hands flew over the keys all day long. She was currently stretching the kinks out of her hands and arms when Kettil came to tell her that - That - She scrambled up, opened a desk drawer, and there they were. Perfectly embellished, and prepared for each and every one of their friends, family, and acquaintances. And undelivered. Freya sank to the floor, and put her head in her hands. "Hel is goings teh kills meh."

Speak of the devil, and she shall appear. It'd been a while since Freya and Kettil's graduation party at their dorm, and in that span of time since Hel hadn't come to visit her sister and brother-in-law in their new digs yet. Why? She was busy...plus more time gave everyone a chance to settle, and she knew they probably needed it with their new home and all... But she'd be a good sister now, and drop in on her sister for a surprise visit. Certainly she'd like that! Yes. Hel stopped outside the apartment door, and raised a fist, pounding it on the door three times before lowering it. She then looked over at her large familiar who had deigned to join her this day. "See? I am a good sister." The look her familiar gave her was very much in disagreement.

"WHAT NO." Kettil's voice suddenly rose a few octaves and it was just in time for Hel's entrance into the happy home of domestic bliss. Kettil also hadn't really realized that Hel had come in just yet because he was a little busy flailing his arms, "I'll.. Um..I'll send them now! Yeah! Don't cry. I'm sorry. Freya c'mon I'm sorry I screwed it up, not you," he had stopped flailing and was now trying to get the announcements and... It was like stepping on a large lizard's tail, it had taken a while for the realization to hit that something had been stepped on. In this case Hel had come in, "OH MY JACK. NO. HEL DON'T KILL YOUR SISTER IT IS ALL MY FAULT." He wasn't sure how she found out so soon, but he wasn't going to let Hel kill Freya.

Freya snapped up and let out a high pitched squeaking sound, slapping her hands in front of her face. Kettil had already gone to try and - oh, no, he'd just blurted out that there was a reason to kill her. The two of them were like chickens with their heads cut off. "ShshshHSHHHH, shush now, Hooter, don't be ridiculous," She laughed out nervously, pushing him out of the way to both greet, and welcome her sister. "Hel, is so guud teh sees yeh, yehr a welcome sight in our new home! Comes inside, sits down, gets comfortable, ACH-" The announcements were all still sitting on the table. Freya had just seen them, and she stuffed them back in the drawer and slammed it shut. "CAN I GETS YEH SOMETHINGS TEH DRINKS?!"

Hel really didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to the phrase 'taking someone in small doses'. She was someone, to a lot of creeple, who needed to be taken in small doses, but, that was how she felt about her sister and brother-in-law despite how much she loved them. Small doses. Right now was a good example, even if she wasn't sure why, and she had a feeling she was going to regret staying any longer than right now. The reaper paused in the hallway and immediately looked insanely suspicious of the both of them. Her familiar loomed over her shoulder, cocking its head to the side and letting out a curious 'kweh?' as it stared at the two. She stared at Kettil, and then she stared at Freya, and her brows were furrowed as her eyes were lidded. Her lips were pulled up into the utmost suspicious scowl. " What did you two do?" Because that was really the only question to ask with how ******** funny they were both acting.

In Freya's rush to stuff the announcements in the drawer one of them wiggled free of the drawer prison and floated it's way over to Hel's foot and there it landed.
Kettil had tried to catch it while it was en route but that had apparently given it just enough momentum to land where it currently perched on Hel's foot as if it belonged there. The Muut sucked in a harsh breath, "We did nothing!" He insisted in a odd pitched voice.
"We just ... We wanted to ... Hnnnggg.." Kettil's composure, which wasn't there in the first place, sort of imploded in on itself. "WewantedtosendthesesoonerandletyouknowbutnowitisonyourfootSURPRISE....~?"
Endzela had come in at some point, probably sensing the distress Kettil was in, and then she just shook her head where she perched, "...Honestly..."

Freya saw the rogue paper as it drifted out as well, and along with Kettil her hands where waving in the air, trying to catch it too. Her snatches worked against his, and they were mutually unable to stop it from dropping in the worst possible spot. She froze like a deer in headlights while Kettil rambled on about it, and then looked up at her sister with wide eyes. All of a sudden, her face opened in a giant, awkward grin. "SURPRISE." She echoed Kettil, and held her breath.

Hel bent down a bit and swiped the paper up with ease. She then looked at it. It was a tense period of time. Followed by an equally tense period of silence as she stared at the paper after reading it. The reaper then lowered the paper and stared at the two, her expression utterly flat. " What." Someone might have been in denial and shock....

Kettil flinched just a tad at the what. Though that didn't make him any quieter or less willing to go on. He at least was visibly calming down because the pumpkin was now out of the patch, both figuratively and literally.
"We had a pumpkin! You're an Auntie...?" He gave her an uneasy smile. "We..We wanted to tell everyone sooner but I..."
"He forgot," Endzela said helpfully.
Kettil shot his familiar a sour look.
He hoped that Freya would somehow make this look like less of an oversight. It was not something he meant to have happen.

And that was exactly what she meant to do. "Looks, we has yehr note right here, we were goings teh sends it out and tells everyone, honest!" She reached out to turn the card over in Hel's hand, to show that it (lo and behold) was addressed very formally to Hel. And she laughed again, still high pitched and nervous, as she shuffled over to Kettil's side and wrapped her arm around his waist. Hel was still in shock, and Freya was still waiting for the other shoe to drop (on her head). She scrambled for something, anything to try and break the tension.. Her face lit up, and her voice turned hushed. "Does yeh wants teh sees it?"

They seemed caught up on the fact they hadn't told anyone the news sooner. Hel was caught up on the fact they were having a pumpkin. She couldn't get over that one little...no...big, big ******** detail. Kettil. Freya. Having a pumpkin. A scareling. Her sister. Freya. Having a babe. Freya. Her older, but still a scareling (in her mind) sister, having a scareling. Hel couldn't wrap her head around it. She just couldn't accept it. It was too weird. Way too weird. It showed on the reaper's face as she just stared at the two, and it would be obvious to her sister how disturbed Hel was, because Hel was dead silent, and Hel was never dead silent unless she was that disturbed. " You are pulling my leg..."

Kettil's wavering cheer and demeanor just kept rebuilding and crumbling and rebuilding itself again. The longer Hel was silent, the longer he just sort of stared at her, "C'mon! We'll show you the little one. I'm really excited." Maybe he realized how disturbed she was and was simply trying to act as if nothing was abnormal in the first place - an act of someone in denial or just simply trying to prove that everything was okay and very sane. All sanity in the Blacke Household. Yep. All the time. Twenty-four-seven. Obviously details had devils in them and Kettil didn't recall inviting demons over to look at the pumpkin today. He motioned for Hel to follow as he reached to tug at Freya to come as well (being the proud mother and all.

Freya's cheer did not waver, because it had crashed and burned long ago. Hel's silence was destructive, and Freya wanted to crumple up into a ball and cry. She just couldn't, because they had to keep going forward, no matter how much emotion was now welling inside of her. She felt Kettil pulling on her, and she opened the door to the nursery, and slunk inside. The pumpkin was sitting inside of a hand-crafted cradle, Kettil's doing of course. And to her, it was the most beautiful, perfect pumpkin in existence. No bias. No way. She reached out and put her hands on it, petting it to try and gain some strength from her baby. She looked up, saw Hel's disbelieving face again, and cringed. "Come, Hel. Meet little Peder."

Hel knew that scarelings and babes existed...but the thought of Freya and Kettil with one it...blew her mind. It crashed the walls she perceived as her life right now. It crashed and expanded it and it was weird. A little life...her sister...what... Somehow Hel ended up following the two, her familiar (secretly utterly amused at how disturbed its reaper was) trailing behind her. The utmost look of disbelief as still on her face, and while Hel Selie was never afraid of anything...it was almost like she didn't want to risk seeing a pumpkin, to confirm that is was real...but she did. Hel paused some steps after coming in through the door way and just stared at the pumpkin now. A moment of silence. " Holy ******** Jack.." She breathed. "It is real." She stared at it like it was an alien...not of Halloween.
