Des sighed as he pushed the door to his home closed. Well that had taken longer then expected. It was always good to catch up with friends, but good god they could go on and on sometimes. Walking into what was the living room, he went to go add his new things to his already massive stack of supplies when a paper on the coffee table caught his eye.
Setting the backs down, he walked over and picked it up. It only took one glance at the words written there before Desmond instantly folded it back up and returned it to the table. So that's what Gabriel's errand had been.. He should have know this would happen. Given the past few months, Des was surprised it hadn't happened sooner.. It's just.. Why didn't Gabriel tell him. Did Gabriel think he wouldn't be able to handle it? Did he think he would tell him not to do it? And that he was over exaggerating?
Sighing, Des picked up the paper and stood before slowly making his way to his room. He knew Gabriel would be up there. Gabriel was always curled up in their bed if things went south. So it was no surprise to the purple haired man when he found the brunette snuggled under the blankets, which were pulled up high by his shoulders. Their cat Arsenic had curled up by Gabriel's head, nestled in the small gap between pillow and sheets. He took a minute, leaning against the frame just watching before he walked to the other side of the bed.
Pulling the sheets back a bit, he slid under and pressed himself against Gabriel's back. "Hey..." He said gently as he kissed Gabriel's shoulder. "When did you get home?" Des knew how to play these games with Gabriel. If he brought it up right out of the gate, Gabriel would shut down. He would have to coax it out of Gabriel.

Gabriel blinked and shifted a little when Des climbed in bed with him. "Hey," he said, his voice soft. He wondered if Des had found the will - he had been stupid to just leave it on the table, but oh well. He reached over to take Des's hand, eyes closing for a moment. It was easy to pretend that everything was all right, when they were cuddling like this, even if nothing was.
"Maybe half an hour ago? Forty-five minutes? Not really sure, wasn't paying all that much attention to the clock," for a lot of reasons. He was still churning over the decisions in his head. Maybe it would've been a good idea to leave something to Clary? But no, that would be even more complicated, since Clarisse Stark didn't really...exist.
He'd made the right decision, he just didn't really want to talk about it. He was a little worried Des would be upset that he was thinking so grimly, but to him it seemed like rational planning.

Des wrapped the arm around Gabriel, so it was easier n the younger man's wrist. "Hmmm one of those days?" Des asked as he watched Arsenic stretch in her sleep, inadvertently booping Gabriel in the nose. "...Are you alright? How'd your errand go?" He asked, still waiting for Gabriel to talk.
"....It's gonna be alright Gabriel.."

"Yeah, kinda," Gabriel admitted, running his thumb over Des's hand. He couldn't help but smile when Arsenic's paw booped his nose, even if he did look like a giant dork doing it.
"I'm fine, everything went fine," he said, which was half a lie. No, he wasn't fine, he hadn't been fine for a long time, but that was alright. He was used to it, now - to being in turmoil.
"Everything is alright," no it wasn't, or he wouldn't be nineteen years old with a written will.

"Do you wanna talk about it??" The answer was probably no, but he had to get Gabriel to do something. Des sighed again, pressing himself closer. Close enough to actually muffle himself as he nuzzled Gabriel's throat. "Gabriel, I need you to talk to me on this..."

"I..." Gabriel was going to protest that there was nothing to talk about, and arguably there wasn't - the will was written, he certainly wasn't going to un-write it, and that was that. Sort of. But he knew better, and he supposed it was something he should've talked to Des about anyway.
"You found it, then," he said, and his eyes closed again. "It's done - and I'm not undoing it."

Desmond was quiet for a long moment before he finally spoke. "...I wasn't going to tell you to undo it." He said softly. The older man hugged Gabriel's waist, sighing against his shoulder. "...The only thing I was going to say is that I think you should go through it all first... See what's there... You're going to have to do something with it Angel..." Gabriel had done absolutely nothing with his parents belongings, despite Des' multiple attempts to get him to do so.

"Why?" Gabriel asked, his voice soft. "What will going through it accomplish, except reminding me of how much I lost when that Senshi murdered them?" He had to force back a sob. God, he hated thinking about his parents. "Sort through it when it's yours."
That was a little harsh, and he knew it, but god he did not want to deal with that bundle of emotions.

Why?
Because Gabriel could see all the things he did with them. Because he could see how much they loved him, even if they gave him an ultimatum in the end.
Instead all Gabriel saw was what he didn't have.
Desmond just sighed before throwing the blankets off himself and rolling out of bed. If he wanted to have this kind of a pity party then fine. Des would let him have it. He had had it plenty of times himself. He didn't need to have one again.
Des could put up with a lot. This however, was not one of them.

Gabriel curled in on himself when Des moved away, burying himself under the blankets. He felt a mix of relief and sadness - at least Des wasn't pressuring him anymore, but the comfort of his presence had been nice.
"I'll go this weekend," he said, and his voice was rather defeated. Maybe it would be a good idea to at least start sorting through his old house, figuring out what was his now and what he would get rid of. "Might as well get it over with."

"Do it, don't do it. I don't care anymore Gabriel." He could only take so much of it. "I'm not going through your parent's things, so they'd just sit anyway." What would he do with them anyway? He had never met either of them.
"You know what? This is absolute bullshit Gabriel. I can not believe you have just let that stuff sit there. Don't you want any of that stuff? It's your's too. It was your's before they even died." Those were Gabriel's things. Gabriel's belongings. Gabriel's parents.
"I would trade anything to have something like that. The only reminders I have don't even belong to me." Des could barely remember them anymore.

Gabriel opened his mouth to argue, that none fo it was his, they'd thrown him out and probably gotten rid of his stuff - but he didn't know that, couldn't know for sure. He hadn't been back, ever - for all he knew, his room was exactly as he'd left it.
And then the guilt washed over him. "I'm being a selfish a*****e about this, aren't I?" He said, and then he slowly wriggled out of the covers, walking up behind Des and sliding his arms around his boyfriend's waist. "I am so sorry. I didn't even think..."

"Just a bit. Yeah." A selfish a*****e who's blind to what he has in front of him. Des sighed when Gabriel came up behind him. "Gabe.. Why do you think I push so hard on this? Why do you think I always said your parents probably had some logic for doing what they did?" Des thought back to one or two quarrels they had gotten into about how Des was taking their side, and what kind of friend he was... blah blah blah.
That had all been before Des told Gabriel the truth mind you.
"I do it for a reason. I know it hurts, but you need to do this. You can't just toss these things aside. What would you do if, God forbid, something happened to your parents place and you lost it all. We don't have anything with them in it here. You may not care now, but trust me, you will eventually."

Gabriel nodded. "I didn't want to hear it because I was blinded by anger, and now I don't want to listen to you because it hurts, Des. They probably died thinking I still hated them and didn't want anything to do with them." He swallowed. "My mom called a few times, the first few weeks after I got kicked out. I was too pissed to answer. I should've called her back."
It wouldn't have fixed anything, or prevented what happened - but it might have meant that he hadn't spent months being resentful and angry. "I want to have something," he confessed, "even if it's just a few things."

"You don't know that." Des said as he twisted a bit to wrap an arm around Gabriel. "They could have wanted to fix things... You don't know what they wanted. So don't assume the worst.. They know you loved them, even if the circumstances weren't the best between you." He pushed Gabriel's bangs back and kissed the teen's forehead. "And they loved you very much Gabriel."
