After her awakening upon the island, it had not taken very long for Mimsy to learn that offerings of food, particularly of the sugary of confectionery variety, were in high demand for an array of reasons. These reasons ranged from an effective for comfort and stress-relief for some, to simply sating a craving for others. She lacked both a sweet tooth and the ability to properly experience empathy, so she didn't quite sympathize with them, but she did take notes whenever possible in an effort to determine what was the most optimal via island-wide opinion.

This was precisely why she held a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream when she arrived at Dwight's door.

The ice cream was meant to accompany the other desserts that had been obtained for a tea party she'd been diligently planning, but re-appropriating it for this purpose seemed acceptable. This was something important in its own right - and she knew that she couldn't invite him to the tea party anyway, for the sake of safety, so he deserved his share of dessert on a separate occasion.

Despite his assurance that he always had time for her company, she was still somewhat hesitant as she knocked on the frame, quietly waiting for him to acknowledge her first.

Twitter debate was a serious thing, after all.

He was still Tweeting as he answered the AV room's door. Glancing up, he shot her a smile, a comfortable one for once without awkward emotional edges. "Hey Mimsy, come in." Stepping back revealed a number of computers in the process of either compiling code or copying data, depending on which section she glanced at. It looked like a lot of work, but the sort you had to wait on. There was a very good chance that this was the sort of point in his work that he usually reserved for baiting Rep on Twitter. The fact that Dwight was vaguely aware of the other man's love of technology and familiarity with bootlegging likely made it all the sweeter.

The very instant that permission was granted to enter the room, Mimsy accepted the invitation and stepped through the door. Her tendency to do this was so standard that it might have been suspiciously vampire-esque, had there not been many other cues that someone had trained her very well in what probably appeared to be an entirely random assortment of socially polite concepts.

"Hello, Dwight," she greeted him, lifting two fingers from the container of ice cream in an attempt at a wave. A cursory glance passed over the majority of the monitors, finding that each (currently) displayed something familiar enough to avoid meriting an incessant stream of curious questions. "I brought some ice cream, if your appetite has not been soured. Has your day been otherwise uncomplicated?"

She assumed it couldn't have been too bad, judging by the current state of his work, but ice cream did not always need to follow something negative. Careful to avoid reaching over any obvious portions of technology, she held the pint towards him, along with one of the two spoons she'd also brought along with her.

Lifting his eyebrows and seemingly more at ease around her than he's been in a very long time, Dwight grinned and took one of the spoons. "Oh good, I'm starving. Twitter drama has to burn more calories than running, I think it's actually related to the EEE counts." Emotional Energies Expended was a measurement that some Lifers were fond of, though others had a great deal of reservations concerning the topic as they were only able to measure those related to Fear.

He left Mimsy with the ice cream, and gestured for her to take the first bite. "So I heard you were moving into the town."

Ensuring that all standard greeting formalities were properly exchanged had taken momentary precedence to Mimsy's more typical states of observation, so it wasn't until he smiled when he took the spoon from her that she registered any significant changes in his behavior. The obvious absence of tremendous awkward was both comforting and reassuring, and she visibly relaxed as several seconds passed, the majority of the tense rigidity leaving her shoulders with the first exhale that followed.

"I would not be surprised in the slightest to learn that this is true, having seen the energy it requires," she agreed with a short little laugh, moving to sit next to him. She paused with uncertainty when he offered her the first bite - maybe he just expected it to be poisoned, she reasoned, and cheerfully scooped a large spoonful up to pop into her mouth, proving just how not-poison it was.

"Mhmm." The ice cream was swallowed with some difficulty, her nose briefly scrunching up at the chill that she hadn't sufficiently accounted for. "The move was completed recently, but there is still work to be done, of course. I am eager to know what it is like to reside somewhere that I can call my home. Have you ever considered moving into a refurbished house there?"

Her eyes widened, and she looked away from her spoon to watch him with interest.

"Oh! If you have, we could be neighbors!"

He took hold of the little contained but didn't take it from her, simply steadying it as he took a spoonful of ice cream. "Oh," he began, eyebrows raised after swallowing, "I haven't had this kind yet. It's really good!"

Ducking his head down, the tech admitted, "Ah....well, no, not really." Looking up at her, Dwight scratched his head in chagrin, "I'm hardly ever in my own form room. A whole house seems kind of wasted on me. Maybe when my..." His voice cut off, a little uncertain, both happiness and worry sliding across his features.

When Mimsy planned this visit, she had not anticipated that she would learn so much about ice cream and ice cream etiquette as a result. Now she had been apparently granted the honor of being the pint-bearer, if his actions were any indication, and she had discovered a flavor that he deemed 'really good', completely by coincidence.

It seemed that she had accidentally discovered something else in the short course of their conversation as well; whatever it was, it was causing him to have an expression that was unfamiliar to her.

"I am very glad that you like it!" Because she was, even if she no longer wanted to talk about ice cream - not when he could have a spoonful of information to sate her curiosity instead.

She scooted just a little closer and tilted the pint container towards him. He looked like he might need it.

"What are you waiting for?" Then her head tilted to match the angle of the ice cream, when she noted a second possibility. "Or...who? If it would trouble you to speak about it, I understand. Upsetting you is the opposite of my intentions."

He did need it. Two more spoonfulls, and several false starts, Dwight finally blurted out, "My sisters!" Blushing, he explained, "My family has this...thing. It's complicated, but it means they know I'm alive and working for an organization that well...protects them. Sometimes them specifically, because my sisters draw a lot of attention." At this he grimaced, "They're all potential hunters, and almost of age to join. Which is terrible, but also..."

He gave her brilliant, painfully vulnerable smile, "I got to see them the other day for the first time in years. And I've really, really missed them."

Sisters? Mimsy's eyes widened so significantly that they were almost entirely round, before she closed them to concentrate and process this information.

She tightened her grip on the pint of ice cream, but didn't move to take another spoonful just yet.

"I was entirely unaware that you have sisters. Multiple sisters! That is wonderful. How many do you have?" The language that he used very clearly indicated at least two, but 'all' made it seem more numerous. "I am glad that you had the opportunity to see them. Were you very close, before you arrived here? Were you involved in the 'thing' too?

By the end of her last question, she'd spooned out a portion much smaller than her first ambitious mouthful. She hesitated with the edge of the utensil against her lips, brow knit in thought.

"What is it like? To have a little sister, I mean. Are there requirements? Anything one is supposed to do, or some way that is necessary to behave around them? Is it abnormal due to the complicated 'thing'? Is it comforting to know that they are aware of your living existence?" One little nibble of the ice cream melted on her tongue, and she glanced back up at Dwight, expression more relaxed again. It seemed that she was no longer debating with herself.

"Since you have been so honest and forthcoming with me, I would like to do the same. I have learned that I have a little sister, who has recently awoken here too. We did not grow up together, and I know very little about her. It is likely that you have already taken note of her presence - she is Camille Ryland, of Sun Division. You share a similar interest in exercise habits."

With a lopsided grin, she nodded towards his phone.

"I think that you would like her, from my current knowledge of her personality. I just--well." It was her turn to look vulnerable, as she stared at the melting ice cream remaining on her spoon, cheeks flushing in her hesitation. "My lack of knowledge regarding the concept of younger sisters is a point of shame, I must admit. I thought that if you elaborated upon yours, that it might help."
