NOTE: This application is for a character who awakens as a knight and is forcibly corrupted to the Negaverse almost immediately, losing all his civilian memories. It contains both a knight profile and a Negaverse profile so both can be approved for play -- his profile has not currently been stamped. Please see the fourth post in this thread for information on the conditions under which I've received approval to quest this type of character!
=====================
Name:Lazarus Klein. According to a driver's license with his face on it, formerly Eli Bell.
Nickname: Nicknames, you mean like, those things your friends call you, for people who have friends? Yeah, he doesn't have any friends anymore. He's forgotten them. Not that he's bitter. Why would he be bitter?
Age: 27, according to his driver's license. A former happy father of two children, apparently somewhere around one year and three years of age, respectively, according to the photos in his wallet.
Birthday: November 5th, also according to his driver's license.
Sign: Scorpio.
Gemstone: Topaz.
Blood Type: Internal, preferably. He doesn't know. (a/n: Type B.)
Fav. Food: Recent experimentation would seem to indicate his favorite food is possibly brie, with a side of absolutely anything.
Hated Food: Recent experimentation on the self-same cheese tray would seem to indicate his least favorite food is possibly gorgonzola.
School: n/a
Hobbies:
Pre-corruption --
Wine: Eli, in his former life, was a wine connoisseur as a rather major hobby of his. He traveled internationally to visit particular vineyards and taste one vintage or another, and had a sizable collection of his own into which he'd sunk a good deal of money. Given the likelihood of how quickly it'll be for Quartz to need a stiff drink in his new life, it won't take long for this knowledge to return to the fore of his mind, even if it's frustrating to feel like something's been downloaded into your head like kung fu in the Matrix.
Women: Well, not just women, really. Eli was terribly social all around, involved in things like his children's 'play groups' and block parties and all things community-centric for someone living in the suburbs of Destiny City. He dated regularly and without an apparent gender preference, but more frequently he did things like sky diving clubs and morning yoga -- pretty much anything that involved being around people, he'd try at least once.
And song: Eli took lots of lessons on a smattering of different instruments during his lifetime -- popular instruments, like guitar, piano, and drums, he retains an excellent muscle memory for, even if it may take Lazarus some time to happen upon that particular skillset. He can play any of these competently, though not with any sort of expert proficiency.
=====
Post-Corruption --
Grantaire, put that bottle down!: Those who can, do; those who can't, drink to excess, apparently. Lazarus spends a lot of time at bars getting smashed -- he drinks to forget what he can't remember.
Stalking himself: When he's not completely blotto, Lazarus tries to learn what he can about the old life he lost -- whether through internet searches, or at the Destiny City records office, or by talking to people he thinks might've once known Eli. His lost life distresses him, since he resents its absence, yet, conversely and achingly, he can feel no connection to it no matter how hard he tries. Nothing ever sparks a new memory or an old feeling. It's frustrating.
Virtues:
Organized -- Socially experienced if by past behavior if not by current inclination, Lazarus has little trouble making good use of information he's learned, and has little difficulty developing structure or routine for himself. He's what one would characterize as a self-starter, once given a task -- someone who can go off on his own and complete his assignment with a minimum level of micromanagement or reminding. He can plan a party or a journey, and if he's ever late on his energy quota, it won't have been because of poor time management, but because of either Order interference or the willfull decision to ignore his quota and crawl inside a bottle instead.
Observant -- Likewise, he's a fairly keen individual. Sherlock he may not be, but he misses little that's plain for a watchful person to see. Lazarus is hungry to reclaim lost knowledge and experiences, and distrustful of those around him, and both of these make for a hawkish, vigilant demeanor -- as, admittedly, does the desire of a deeply resentful individual to find ways to make other people feel as miserable as he does. He's a collector of knowledge and detail, where he can -- knowing his perceived enemy (and everyone is his perceived enemy) makes him feel safer.
Honest -- Quartz has no particular reluctance to call things like he sees them, if he sees a point to doing so. He's generally a straight shooter and a forthcoming individual; he has no qualms about discussing his corruption and circumstances with characters of an Order alignment. Likewise, if he's feeling unsociable and wants to get rid of a person, he rarely minces words. Since he lacks any real loyal attachment to the Negaverse's cause, he puts virtually no effort into dissembling on their behalf, unless he's been specifically assigned to for some reason.
Benign -- Similarly, Quartz may unquestionably do his job insofar as collecting energy is concerned, but otherwise, he generally fights only under direct order. He serves the Negaverse out of self-interest, but has no real qualms with his former allies who oppose it, even if he never got to meet them before his corruption. If an Order character interrupts him while he's collecting energy for his quota, he'd just as soon offer to go do his job elsewhere rather than stay and fight, assuming he has no specific orders to the contrary from his superiors.
Flaws:
Bitter -- If Lazarus were any more bitter, the world would probably spit him back out and then wash the aftertaste away with a tall glass of milk. What he lacks in natural happiness and sunshine, he further enhances by way of sulking, simmering misery. He is persistently unhappy and shows no reluctance to visit his unhappiness on others -- it takes repeated effort for him to respond to positive social overtures/friendly behavior with anything other than snideness or cold dismissal.
Unmotivated -- Vim and vigor are a pair of words that have not graced Lazarus's doorstep since his corruption. Quartz is the kind of soldier who can best be spoken of as being capable and having a lot of potential, but his lack of any motivation to truly espouse the cause to which he's been conscripted means he lives both his lives -- his empty, gutted civilian life, and his life as a Negaverse soldier -- possessed of an ennui more powerful than most temporary passions. He's capable of executing on a task once given it, but has absolutely no drive for upward mobility within the Negaverse and no particular desire to further the Negaverse's ambitions beyond securing his own personal safety.
Cowardly -- Lazarus acts, and lives, his current life compelled more powerfully by fear than anything else. Whether within the Negaverse or allied against it, he fears for his life and his safety -- but he's also deeply traumatized by his near-complete loss of memory and inability to recover so much as a fragment of the familiar -- and the fear of losing any piece of himself again, of having even less left to try and live for, is a more powerful motivator for him than his generally well-in-tune moral compass. Chaos holds him through terror, and it holds him well: he lives his life as a cornered, injured animal with an unhealable wound, and shows no inclination to risk what little he sees himself as having left. He acts in whatever way preserves his life as wholly as possible, with no compelling loyalty to anyone else.
Untrusting -- Isolated and miserable, Lazarus could certainly use friends and social interaction, but tends to drive them away instead. He has no one he feels any particular loyalty to, and in turn, no one he believes in loyalty from in any way he can risk relying upon. His cohorts in the Negaverse are all either his gaolers or his fellow shackled creatures -- accordingly he loathes and fears those he sees in the first group, and pities those in the second, seeing them as having no more reason to stick their necks out for him than he does to stick his neck out for them. Order-aligned characters might express an interest in helping him, but that likewise does little to earn his trust in any appreciable way -- he can understand the practical value for their side in attempting to recruit him back, and has difficulty believing any of them would have any reason to care for him as a person rather than a tool they can turn to their own ends. If they cared, they'd understand why he can't go back -- why it costs too much to ask him to lose half of what little human life and memories he has left to him. People are self-interested -- trusting them, beyond trusting that about them, is a foolish and dangerous exercise in self-delusion. (So did I mention he's bitter.)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Deep indigo, elegantly upswept.
Hair: Oil-slick black, layered, collarbone-length.
Face: Sleek features, patrician nose, high cheekbones.
Clothes: Apparently as a civilian, he once wore jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt that says I'm afraid I've got some bad news on it. Now, he doesn't know.

Knight Title: Dionysia Page Challenge: Run away with me. Uniform: (* NOTE: The outfit shown is for his Page stage, but the weapon shown is actually his Captain-stage Negaverse weapon -- as a knight, he carries a much less blade-bearing weapon. But as you can see, I reused the same image otherwise. XD) Weapon -- Stage 1 - ThyrsusStage 2 - Thyrsus quarterstaff Spell: What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger - Dionysia can activate his magic for up to 45 seconds total duration, so long as he can hold his concentration. While his magic is active, any objects it comes into contact with -- other than currently living plants or creatures -- will be broken down and reformed into the base components from which the object was born -- for example, an arrow might become a newly germinated seed and an uncut rock, a blade might become a lump of iron ore, plastics become polymer oil, leather armor becomes a sleeping baby calf. The effects of this spell last as long as he continues channeling his magic, before objects will begin to resume their normal shapes. (As a note: Dead creatures 'reborn' in this form universally appear to be sleeping quietly and deeply, as though comatose -- since they don't possess starseeds -- but of course Dionysia has no reason to ever use this ability on a human corpse. Calves are much more likely, due to the prevalence of cow leather.) Note: Non-armor, non-weaponized clothing is unaffected by this spell -- the power of a magical uniform to protect one's modesty is too strong, and Dionysia's magic cannot overcome the fact that this is a PG-13 game.Stage 3 - Thyrsus quarterstaff with shepherd's crook finial Spell: The same spell as previous -- now with 60 seconds total duration. Wonder: Dionysia, the Festival Island. As befitting a Wonder of the Cosmos, Dionysia is not easily classifiable as part of any planetary or star system, and it has no constellation to which it belongs, nor a fixed trajectory it can be said to follow. Dionysia is a wandering island -- it travels through space within our galaxy at seeming random, drawn from place to place by the energy of agragian worlds in their planting or harvest seasons (where that energy hasn't been polluted by Chaos) -- appearing in the sky above their atmosphere and, if invited, hosting festivals for the citizens of the worlds they visit (in one of the world's capital cities) for five days, before the island moves on again. In appearance, Dionysia looks much like Mont St. Michel uprooted from the ground and set to floating in space -- heavily crowded and built toward the point of highest altitude, where the knight of Dionysia resides in his temple. With so much of the galaxy currently gone to ruin, and Earth largely overrun by Chaos, there are no real anchor points actively farming in the galaxy to draw Dionysia to them -- instead it travels aimlessly from point to point in dead space, now, itself an island largely in ruin, its bright brass tarnished and its once-colorful banners tattered and gray.

Negaverse Alias: Lieutenant Quartz Challenge: Running will get you nowhere. Uniform: (* NOTE: Weapon shown is for his Captain stage.) Weapon -- Stage 1: ThyrsusStage 2: Melee spear Stage 3: Enchanted melee spear -- At this stage, night favors Quartz heavily: his weapon seems to melt into the nearby darkness of its surroundings, becoming mostly impossible to clearly see in motion, absent the movements of his hands and a rippling distortion of the air when it's in motion, like something curving the surface of water as it passes through it. Without being able to clearly see his weapon, it's impossible to consistently gauge its reach except through trial and error -- which makes strikes from the spearhead harder to avoid. In the daytime, or indoors, the effect is significantly reduced, and its magic seems less ethereal -- with the spear in motion appearing to only be mirrored from end to end, as though cut from shiny chrome -- a useful advantage only if he can manage to catch the glare of the sun off of it and shine it into his opponent's eyes.

Some notes on this side-switch quest:* My intention is not to use this quest concept to get an extra piece of art for myself without doing the work, so I've tried to avoid needing an additional piece of artwork. I've designed my concept for his uniform around the idea that his lieutenant's uniform and weapon are his page uniform and weapon, but in dark colors (and with the Cosmos symbol switched out for a solar eclipse progression on his sash/bandolier). I tried to make sure I was executing a design that would be suitably formal to be acceptably in-theme for the Negaverse, but I have the impression that corrupted knights have more latitude to have their uniforms resemble their pre-corruption selves than other Negaversers do (see Avalon and her heavily Earth-knight-themed uniform). However, if a recolored uniform reusing the same art from his page to his lieutenant stage is not acceptable, I am also okay with either: (1) page stage only, and purchasing alt art on my own if I can get a slot while he's in lieutenant stage, with sideswitch otherwise being reflected in his art only once he hits captain, or (2) skipping his page art and having official art for him from lieutenant onward only. * My intention is for Dionysia's time as a knight to be limited to essentially three threads: ---> Awakening battle vs. a youma (I would RP this out with a second player who owns a civ-only character.) ---> Initial Wonder visit (Written as a solo.) ---> Battle vs. a Negaverser, ending in forcible corruption The wonder visit is something I'd very much like to keep as part of his pre-corruption knight experiences, so that he has the brief memory of his Wonder (and some vague pastlife memory snippet of some kind) to give him cause for interest in the opposing factions and eventually a possible interest in why Negaversers can't unlock their pastlife memories. For that reason, if my proposed setup is for some reasonan issue, and you'd rather he be corrupted in his very first RP, would it be acceptable for me to instead write a non-battle awakening and Wonder visit solo immediately preceding his first (corruption) RP thread? * Dionysia's meant to be corrupted while in page/lieutenant stage, so I just wanted to note, in case there's any confusion, that his squire/knight magic was only included so the profile can be reviewed completely rather than leaving anything out. I figured he had to have both a fully approvable knight profile and a Nega profile, even if he'll only be in his page stage briefly. * Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to make this workable! I'm not intending to scam any extra stages or extra art out of the shop, so please let me know if anything looks weird or problem-causing and I'll do my best to adjust it in a way that works for everyone! Thank you~! Official response from The Space Cauldron Thanks for the PM! The way you are questing the character as is looks good to us! The only thing we can really comment on is the art; unfortunately, even though it is just a color adjustment stage, he is only allowed to have one official artwork for per stage (unless otherwise won!). For this reason, if you would like for him to start with his Page outfit, try for an alt powered slot, or just wait for corrupt art when you grow him, you can do this—or, provided the corruption happens within a reasonably early time after awakening (usually we say within two weeks), then it would be fine if you wanted to start with the Lieutenant art even though he awakened as a Page!

Hey Shaz, congrats on winning Dionysia/Quartz<3
His civilian looks great! Just one small detail about his Knight magic, in case it ever somehow came into play - the effects of his magic cannot linger after he stops channeling! (I think it's a really clever use of Cosmos's "rebirth" theme, though!)
Also, for his General magic -- I think it's a little OP, but it would be a little more fair if his opponent could see sort of a vague outline of his weapon at night? So there's something rather than nothing at all! (Also, does "daytime" mean "only during the day" or "under bright light, period"?)
Quote me and I will be back<3

Quote me and I will be back<3 Thank you for the help! Those seem like easy changes, and I appreciate the guidance on Nega magic effects, since I've never worked with them before~ I adjusted Dionysia's magic to end when his channeling does, and I added a visual air distortion around Quartz's weapon so it can still be somewhat seen, as you suggested. I also capped it a little more, so the nighttime camo effect is only in play when it's both night and outdoors -- during the daytime and any time he's indoors, his weapon has the dinky 'just kind of shiny' effect only. Will that work? Let me know if there's anything else I can do!
