Quote: Reconnaissance Mission S86 Location: The Sahara Desert (North Africa) Images:: x, x, xx General debriefing: The Sahara has been a strong hold of the Horseman Clans for millenia. Current events have created a demand for more widespread observation of the area, as well as a need for greater experience with the region among Hunters and trainees.
Duties include: Upkeep of base. Acclimatization. Regular patrols. Observe and record any aberrations found within the area. Capture specimens. Destroy threats to the human populace. Flagging A and S class threats for special dispatch.
Bring supplies for at least a three day stay as a base. Modified desert uniforms and gear are available from the Quartermaster. Extra charged runes are recommended.
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three to five, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse for Reconnaissance Mission S86. You will roll at least 1 daily prompt for each of the hunters on the team, unless the mission ends early due to injury or further enemy interference. Daily Prompts: roll 1 d100 1: The ground shakes beneath your feet and cracks begin to appear in the distance when out of the sand a massive sand worm the size of the Empire State Building bursts out. Between its many segments you see tiny flashes of light that upon (dangerously) closer inspection appear to be suits of armour and weapons. Weapons with glowing runic marks. It towers above you and then smashes down upon the camp, destroying it easily. Roll 2d20 to determine your injuries. Your options are to either portal home and report, or stay and fight the creature known as The Armoury (HP: 9999) 2 - 10: Nothing happens. 11 - 20: An unusually large swarm of insects pass by the camp. They seem to pause and hover, blanketing the camp for several moments before moving on. 21 - 30: You find a stone stairway that leads to vine-covered underground temple, red flowers blooming all along its walls. You begin to hear voices, both strange and familiar. Should you get injured at any point during this, the vines will enter your body and begin growing inside your hunter. They will grow more paranoid as the days pass as well as hallucinating, the vines becoming visible under their skin after one day, and then blooming the next. Bringing them back to Deus will end their part in the mission, as they will need a two day day infirmary stay to be rid of the plants. A flower or vine-like scar will remain on their person. 31 - 60: Horsemen appear and attack your camp or patrol group. ((These can be either player character horseman you invite to battle (which will make your base RP points PVP points and worth 2 instead of 1 rp point) or you can battle against an automob who you will be able to possibly capture.)) Horseman AutoMob (clan/appearance/name are your choice, though do follow the horseman guidelines for such) HP: 60 Auto Damage: 5 Special: Should you bring their HP to either 0 exactly or 1, then you may viably capture them and bring them back to Deus. (Bonus Pay: $3000) otherwise they simply escape or dissipate. 61 - 70: Nothing happens 71 - 80: You discover an underground oasis. It's very enjoyable. 81 - 90: You fall through the sand into a stone room. Along the floor are piles of body parts. One of the piles begins to move, then several more. Roll 1d20 to escape back up the way you came or destroy a wall with your weapon. You must roll 11 or higher to succeed. Failure causes you to be mobbed by the creatures. Before you pass out, you notice their features changing to match your own. When you wake up, you are naked and alone except for your weapon's totem. You either escape under your own power or are rescued by your teammates. 91: Nothing happens. 92: You're attacked by figures of bone and rotting flesh, they move both mindlessly and as a unit, as it they were puppets. Corpse Mob: HP:30 Auto Damage: 3 Special: Every time you miss the auto damage is 6 instead of 3. When they are defeated they simply collapse into parts. 93: Nothing happens. 94 - 99: A sandstorm locks you into the base for the rest of the day. No more prompts may be rolled for that day. 100: Moths shot through with silvery veins begin to form a female figure. (post quote lizbot) * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

The text had arrived in the early afternoon of the day before. It had given Peyton plenty of time to let loved ones know she was heading out, and ho long she would be gone. Packing had been easy; a lot of light weight t-shirts and tank tops, shorts, a full bottle of sun screen, and a rune for her phone, just in case. All of this was thrown into a napsack and set by the door the night before. Come 6:30am the following morning and Ms. Creedy was ready to go. She arrived at the lighthouse with fifteen minutes to spare, dressed in a pair of cut offs, thigh high ombre stockings, a pale colored t-shirt, and her coat actually on and zipped up tight for a change.
Since it was still early, the morning chill still hanging around the tropical island like a soft haze, she had her hood up and her scarf in place, a pair of shades resting on her head.
She was really hoping that whoever had put the team together this time had not been so cruel as to place her with Jack again. Their last mission had been successful, but she'd come home with injuries, and none of them had been from the beasties in the haunted house. After their last run in, she was hoping to avoid the psycho giant for at least a little while.

Otto arrived to leave in full desert gear he'd made sure to get from the quartermaster. It was best to be protected from the sun, the sand and the wind. And bugs.
Being so early, the teen looked half dead already. He was not a morning person. He would never be a morning person.

Three daaaays. Maebe dragged her feet all the way to the portal room in the morning, She'd packed very well the night before, but she'd spent the night upstairs between two very comfortable people. It was important to have a good night, if they were about to have three possibly bad nights to come. Otto was a zombie, Maebe was a lethargic mess, and Cami was the only light of sunshine between them. It was a testament to her patience. "Hi Pey," Maebe waved weakly, fingers fluttering in greeting. It was the best she could do when all she really wanted to do was curl up in bed and go back to sleep.

A three day mission?! Shu was resting on her bed after a spar when she received the text message, she immediately bounced up to check the details, but there was only one short line. So the petite Asian asked her weapon what meant by "recon", after she knew what it meant and the mention of light clothes and sunscreen, she was guessing where she was going and if she was alone (probably not) until she suddenly widened her eyes and paused like a robot. She picked up her phone again and checked the message again, blinked and looked at it again, before she made an unbelievable expression. "7 AM?! 7AM?!!!! 7AM?!!!!" She shouted before throwing herself into the bed again. Shu never wake up that early, and including the time to do all the preparations in the morning, she was gonna be a zombie and scared all the hunters in the group. "Oh no....Help Z...." The girl moaned, rolling on her bed. He ordered her like a mother.
First, she sent messages to inform Mimsy that she was going for a three day mission, before she made a list of what to pack. It wasn't a picnic trip sadly, the girl with an unhappy face, put the garments she needed into a knapsack, including the sunscreen as mentioned, she hope half of the bottle was enough, the last mission in Sahara used up a lot of it. Wait. The girl suddenly quivered in goosebumps, having a bad feeling about where they were going soon. Please not somewhere she was thinking. She was forced to double, or even triple checked her belongings before bed by the motherly Z. His excuse was that he didn't want to be shameful of her.
The next day, the girl with a messy hair (her sleeping habit) and sleepy eyes was woke up early in the morning under the coax of a "cake" whisper. She pulled up the loose top that sild off her shoulder and yawned like a cat. "Morning Z. What time is it?" She shortly nodded again, sat up in her bed while fiddled for the clock. "It's just 6, why are you waking me that early?" The girl grumbled. She was about to close her eyes, and went back to sleep, but his reminder sobered her fully. "OH YES!" She jumped out of her bed and got ready, brushed her hair and checked her belongings again, then headed to the cafeteria to grab a sandwich for breakfast before running to the light house. She was all in a hurry until her weapon told her that he woke her up earlier than it should be. The girl who nearly be the first one to die from chocking a sandwich sent a glare aside.
In a light colored t-shirt and shorts, with a pair of leggings, the girl slowly walked towards the light house with her boots, hoping the early sea breeze may help to wake her up a bit. She was quite sure she had a very high probability of looking like a zomghoul so she was afraid to look at the mirror.
Why so early?
Others would find the cheerful girl would be a bit different from usual, yawning occasionally but shortly paused when she felt the watch.
"Morning~" The greeting was done with a lazy tail.

0700, for Camille, wasn't all that early anymore. 0600 runs with Peyton a few days a week had turned into 0600 runs every morning for the sake of routine. Routine and being used to what the sun looked like at dawn was not helping much these days though. Nightmares kept plaguing her sleep, ones that she wouldn't have known how to talk about if anyone had asked, which they thankfully did not. Cami had no idea that Otto soothed her in her sleep -- she was too used to sleeping too deeply to notice. Blessedly it was early enough that Otto, who was so keen at picking out when she was happy and when she was faking, was too groggy to either notice or care that Cami was faking her good mood. "The three of us, on a mission, together?! We're going to kick some serious a** and get a glowing review and maybe some kind of bonus!" Maebe's jaw was free of wire, her coat was pristine and intermediate in rank. Otto was likely to be their superior for the trip which was excellent in so many ways. Her outfit wasn't all that different from Shu's. Beneath the white coat was a racerback tank, one of her customary pairs of too-short denim shorts, and leggings above her boots. Cami didn't know where they were going but every mission she'd ever gone on involved some ******** desert or another. Bare skin in the desert? Hell no. Following Otto's lead she'd gotten much the same gear he had and, pulling her sleepy sweethearts in tow, beamed at Peyton at the lighthouse portal. "Hey, senpai! You get marked for a recon mission too?"

The wary expression the tiny blonde had been wearing faded into a smile as she noticed who her mission buddies were going to be, and the underlying sense of dread she'd been carrying sense receiving the text the day before lessened. "Hey ladies," she greeted, grinning, before looking to Otto, "and cousin." Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all! Shu was a bit of a wild card for Peyton, as far as what to expect, but she was a very sweet girl, and seemed to follow orders well. Maebe she'd never faced personally, but had recently heard very good things, and Otto and Cami she knew to be excellent Suns and soldiers. To the latter she smiled, nodding. "I did indeed. Guess we didn't have to cancel our morning meet up after all." Though instead of running, they'd be heading into God knew what sort of chaos. Well, either way, they were bond to get a decent work out. "So are we ready?"

"Wait." Maebe took her backpack off, and bent her body all the way down until she touched her toes, stretching thoroughly with a long, quiet groan. When she came back up, her hair flipped over her head and her backpack was slung over her shoulders. She looked flushed, but a lot more awake. "Well, now I'm ready." Each hand patted one of two asses at each side. "Let's go."

It never ceased to make Cami start a bit when Peyton called Otto her cousin. Considering her own dubious genetic relation to Mimsy, whom she looked nothing at all like, it shouldn't have. Cousins were much more genetically separated than sisters and yet...ah well. If Peyton had asked the redhead would have tried to vouch for Shu but wouldn't have known much how. All she'd done was spend a bit of time with the quiet Asian girl, only Mimsy's concern for Shu's well-being her only real operating knowledge. Of course the girl had also survived the desert Sarlacc and the Tower. She had to be tougher than she seemed at a glance. Distracted by watching Maebe stretch and make what were most certainly bedroom noises at the same time before standing up to pinch Cami's own a**, she could only hum along agreeably with whatever it was Peyton was saying. Letting her brain catch up she grinned. "A bit of a late morning start for us overachievers." A pinch of her own was returned to Maebe's backside as the brown-skinned woman hefted her bag. "Ready whenever you are, cap'n." Turning to Otto, she saluted her superior officer with sass and style. [

Shu was too early to have the feeling of somehow pushed out of a circle, or she felt it, but it was ignored. Anyway, she only felt glad that she was doing a mission with someone she could call acquaintances. She watched the group, and noticed the intimate touching of a blonde girl to two of the teammates, well, she knew they were related from twitter - Z grumbled something but she couldn't catch it so she asked. What did you say, Z? She might not understand what those twitter posts said, but someone else with her totally did.
The petite Asian sighed at the obvious intimacy or bonding unseen of the rest and wish one of her closer one was there. Nope, the fact told her she had to take care of herself, at least she got Z with her.......and she can try to get into the circle....yup....she's good at that.
She can do it, it won't be a problem.
She wasn't alone anymore.
"I am ready!" She piled up a bright smile on her face.

Maebe was given an indulgent smile as she groaned, and pale eyes rolled at the a** grabbing. Given that it was Maebe and Cami, she suspected it wouldn't be the last mutual groping to take place. "Behave yourselves." It wasn't a very serious suggestion. Everyone seemed ready, so with a quick look at Otto Peyton led the way through the portal and out into the the desert outpost. The heat closed around them immediately, almost a physical smack. It pulled a low whistle from the smallest blonde that ended in a shaking laugh. "Sweet Jesus, it never ceases to amazing. ******** hot as Hell." Disgustingly hot. Obscenely hot. Everything seemed quiet though, so that was a good thing. It also looked to her as though they would all be sharing a large tent. Usually this wouldn't have been any cause for alarm for the petite Sun, but considering who three of their team mates were... "I swear to God, if I hear you guys doing anything through the night I am going to smother one or all of you with a pillow." The threat was directed to Otto, Cami, and Maebe, but her finger was very levelly aimed at the latter, expression stern. They could do whatever they wanted back home where she wasn't around to hear them, but listening to Maebe maul her cousin was probably one of those things that even brain bleach wouldn't touch. [Next person roll!]

Busted. Maebe was already whispering to Cami something about sleeping arrangements when Peyton called her on it, and she held her hands up innocently. "Who, me?" She piped up, blinking rapidly. "I would never." Yes she would. And did. Often. "Come on," She hurried quickly, practically skipping away to go exploring now that Peyton was on to her. "Let's go find something terrible." But she didn't really find anything terrible, as she'd expected. No bugs, no disgusting monsters, just a stairway out of nowhere that led down, down into darkness. "Hey, guys. I found a secret. Come look." She was already walking down the stairs, waiting for no one as she slowed to look at the red blooming flowers. Her lips tilted up with a smile. She would find a garden tucked away inside a desert. The sound of a phone ringing had her checking her phone, but it wasn't hers. She assumed someone else up above was getting a call, and ignored it. It didn't matter. Quote: 21 - 30: You find a stone stairway that leads to vine-covered underground temple, red flowers blooming all along its walls. Quote: 11 - 20: An unusually large swarm of insects pass by the camp. They seem to pause and hover, blanketing the camp for several moments before moving on. They arrived at the desert, after some field assessment, they set up the base and the group went for daily patrol. It was deadly hot and dry with intermittent sand blowing, luckily she put on enough sunscreen. They walked on the sand for a while, but they didn't spot anything. She idly looked back and saw something horrible - a swarm of black insects was migrating over their camp. "Oh my, LOOK!" She called the group, pointing to the swarm. "I hope everyone get their backpack zipped?" It might not be the best spot to set up their camp if that was on the routine insect moving path. The group was at a distance from the camp, and one of the girls said she found something, so the group though they will check downstairs and moved back to the camp later, it didn't seem to be an urgent threat at camp. Shu answered the beckoning and went down the stairs with the group, and found the vivid red flowers climbing all along the wall. They were beautiful but she had a bad feeling about them. "W-We better stay away and not touching them, but if you want, we can take a photo?" Shu smiled and suggested to Maebe, remembered the blondie loved taking selfies. The petite Asian picked out her phone and took some photos of the flowers at a distance, her instinct told her not to use the flashlight so the pictures were dim but clear enough to examine. She took a few of them at different positions. They were in Sahara, where the Famine Clan lurked usually, so everything better be cautious, those pictures may be examined after they went back to the island......
