Gaming wasn’t something that Lavender did on a normal basis, but lately a few of her friends on one of her social media sites had been all a buzz about an old game they had come back into playing. Runescape. Some sort of fantasy MMO or whatever.
She had only started playing it to see what it was like…and four hours later, well. She supposed she was still just…’seeing what it was like’.
The game had started off so strangely. She made a kickass looking character girl…thing, and then suddenly this short gnome looking guy with a great accent started leading her around this floating town and zombies were everywhere and..well. Great hook, Runescape. Great hook indeed.
She hadn’t been too pleased though, when she was fighting the first big boss…Morgana the mouthwash or something like that, and the dumb game told her to do things and had no way for her to do them? Of course, as she progressed, she realized that all she had to do was click a button to minimize one part of the controls in order to see the other set…but really. Who even did things like that?
Glancing at her alarm clock, Lavender decided that eight o’clock wasn’t really all that late to go and talk to Faith…and by talk, she clearly meant…force her pretty friend to play on Runescape with her.
So, packing up her laptop, the girl made her way to her friend’s house, knocking loudly on the door.
She really hoped the redhead was home…

Faith wasn't really expecting a visitor at eight at night, but she wasn't too put out. She'd just been browsing tumblr, not desperately refreshing for the release of a new dress. So she stood up and walked from her room to the front door, opening it. She was pleased and excited to see Lavender there.
"Hey! Come on in, what's up?" What wasn't surprising was that Lavender had her laptop. The girl had mentioned (and proven) her Internet addiction.

Lavender’s eyes lit up when she saw Faith, and she was almost surprised at her desire to embrace and perhaps even kiss the girl. Huh. She was just so stunning, it was sometimes too much to deal with. “So. I made a terrible, terrible, life changing mistake. And I want you to make it with me.” Clearly that was the best way to dive into this issue. Because it was an issue. A game shouldn’t be able to wipe away four hours in the span of what felt like a few minutes.
Clearly there was some sort of mind control involved with the game. “We need to internet together, and I’m sure you’ll see what I mean. Seriously. Worst mistake of my life. But I can’t stop. It’s so much fun.”
She paused for a moment, brain finally catching up with what her mouth was spewing out. “I’m not doing drugs or anything like that, I realize that’s what this sounds like. It’s a game I started playing. I want you to play with me.” Because that sounded oh so much better.

Faith raised her eyebrows. "Terrible, terrible life changing mistake" did not exactly sound like a good way to open a conversation, but then, this was Lavender. She was pretty sure it couldn't be anything too terrible. Unless she'd decided to take up mad science, or something. And, God, Lav looked cute when she was this enthusiastic about something - Faith couldn't help but brighten up herself.
Even if it was apparently something terrible and horrible and addictive.
"What, did you find Cookie Clicker or something like it? Because that s**t is awful, don't start." The red-haired girl cringed, and then she beckoned Lav to where her bedroom was. "C'mon, let's see this latest round of internet crack." God knew there were a million different forms.
"As long as it doesn't like, have a subscription fee."

Lavender was opening her laptop, though paused at Faith’s last comment. “No, it’s not Cookie Clicker…and it doesn’t have a subscription fee, per se… "
She trailed off, suddenly feeling kind of really self conscious in showing the girl this game. What if she didn’t like it? What if she thought Lavender was a total loser and decided it was a good time to break off whatever bonds of friendship they were starting to form?
So many what ifs. But…no. It didn’t matter. This was something fun and new, and she wanted to share it. “It’s called Runescape, and it’s this old, kind of cruddy MMO that I decided to try out, and to be honest, it’s really fun. There’s so much to do, but it’s nice that you don’t have to do anything…and for your question about a subscription fee…it’s free to play, but it’s better if you upgrade your account…which I have already done to mine, and let me tell you, it is ten thousand times better with the members features. Seriously.”
She paused, then grinned broadly. “If you’re a member, they have these frilly, fancy outfits I know you’d love~”
Because Faith, her lovely Loli queen loved them frilly outfits. Yes she did.

"Runescape?" The name sounded familiar, from ages and ages yon when she had played online games more. "That doesn't sound too bad." In fact, it sounded fun. Sometimes Faith missed MMOs; she'd dropped them, for the most part, but this one sounded fun and hell, playing with Lavender sounded incredibly fun.
And then she mentioned frilly outfits, and Faith shifted so she could drape an arm around Lavender's shoulders.
"My dear, you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention. Frilly outfits, you say?" She was grinning playfully, but there was not much she wouldn't fork over for pretty frilly outfits, real or digital. And hell, she could put aside a little of her dress budget for this. Surely it wouldn't break the bank.

Lavender beamed at her friend. She was pretty sure that she got her with the frilly outfits, and that of course was the goal after all. “So frilly, and they come in several different colors…blue and purple and red and white and green, I think. And of course, there’s dozens of hairstyles to choose from, and if you don’t want to be a crazy fighter, you don’t have to. What do you say, Faith? Do you want to give it a shot and play with me for a little bit?” She looked at the redhead, giving the best pout that she could muster. Seriously, how could the other girl not say yes?
And if they started playing video games together…maybe, just maybe she could really get that last bit of courage together to ask the girl out. Because, she was just so amazingly attractive. And sweet, and nice and. Just perfect.

"How could I possibly say no?" Faith said, and she laughed, plopping down at her desk and opening her laptop. "So, let's get registered and everything, and get playing!" It would be nice to waste an evening with a good friend (oh, who was she kidding, with her sort-of crush) playing a fun new game.
Even if it ended up really being the whole night.

Lavender couldn’t believe her absolute luck. Maybe now was as good a time as any to just come out and say it. Even if the girl didn’t feel the same, worst that could be said was no…and anyway, she was going to get her hooked on Runescape…so she wasn’t going to lose her friendship…hopefully.
“So…I was thinking, maybe you and I could go see a movie sometime. You know, like a date, if you’d be interested. I find you terribly attractive.”
That was one way to say it…at least nobody could accuse her of mincing the meaning of what she wanted to say…that was for damn sure.

Faith looked, briefly, startled, but then her expression broke into a delighted grin. She hadn't expected Lavender to ask her out on a date - but oh, there was only one possible answer.
"I'd love to," she said. "I think you're pretty cute, too." Her smile was unmistakably flirtatious. She liked Lavender, in a lot of ways, and going on a date with her sounded absolutely wonderful.

Well s**t son. She had said yes. Lavender could only grin as she began explaining how to log on and set up a Runescape account…but honestly all she could think about was the date that was in the future…soon in the future.
There was no way she was going to screw this up…but for now, she was going to sit back and enjoy teaching her prospective girlfriend how to play the video game that had taken over her life. There was no better way to spend a night, seriously…
She was just stupidly happy right now.
