 Death Hunter
DEATHSWEEPER
The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.
If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.
If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.
Mechanics
roll 1 d10
check for hp loss and death
decide whether or not to use your bonuses
if you survive, repeat.
roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are!
-50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd

Bonus Mechanics
This bonus is consumable.
All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.
(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)
Trainees: 1 flag
Death Trainees: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
Hunters: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
Death Hunters: 1 flag + 2 instinctive moves

Noemi stared at the sheet that had her assigned to death duties this week.
Including and not limited to, Caelius home made chores list, and completing a death training. The first was easy enough, as it was split with other death trainees.
The trainings she found were better played with someone else.
As such, she found a death hunter of bright teal hair and waved at him.
"E..E..Excuse me!?!?" She said meekly as she got closer to Jake..."Would you do a death training with me?"

Jake had been meaning to do the training courses again. He just... never found the right time, what with the island powering down, being threatened to be taken over, insanity creatures, horsemen, and just... really. They could never catch a break.
That and... he... didn't really have a particular fondness for this training course. Golem or not, being blown up/stabbed/maimed/eaten/whatever the hell was shoved into those tiles sucked, he let out a sigh. A deep long and heavy sigh filled with woe.
A voice startled him out of said misery, and he turned, arching an eyebrow at the petite redhead.
"Oh, um, sure..."
Having someone to do it with would probably make him less miserable.

Noemi studied the teal haired hunter some more before sticking her hand out shyly.
"Th..Thank you for accepting!" she gave him a smile, maybe to help him smile back! She wasn't that good with people who were...not happy. Perhaps she was troubling him by asking but...he accepted sooo.....
"M..My name is Noemi! I'm part..part of the mist division!" She led the way to the portal. "Wh...What's your name?"

A jittery one, wasn't she?
Jake gave a small smile, and took her hand, shaking it.
"Name's Jake. Death Division."
A mist, huh? He couldn't help but think about Nevada, unable to hide a frown as he did so. It was something he didn't want to go through again, and though he had just met the girl, he couldn't help but feel protective. Poor girl looked like she was afraid of her own shadow.
"Don't worry, I won't bite," he said as he followed her, not sure if saying that would help ease her nerves. "Though I do advise you prepare yourself mentally for this course."
Perhaps she should have picked something easier, like... the moon one, or something.

Noemi nodded, memorizing his name and putting it with Teal coloring. Jake. Jake of the death division!
"R...Really it's really nice to meet you." She repeated. At his comment of him biting...she chuckled nervously. "W..Well I should warn you anyways...I don't...I don't taste very well anyways." She covered her face with her hands.
She hesitated, as the techs redirected her to a pod room where they would be using golems instead of actually going through a portal. They had to ease her back into the pod, as she was terrified she wouldn't wake up but once she was in, and closed her eyes.
She reopened to a golem that looked a little like herself. She flexed the fingers, the legs. Then looked over at the Jake one.
"These aren't our real bodies?" Is that what he meant by preparing mentally?

At her comment, Jake only stared... and then burst out laughing.
"Well, I don't plan on becoming a cannibal anytime soon, so I guess I wouldn't be able to comment on the taste."
It had been a while, and Jake wasn't overly fond of pods either, but he trusted the technology wouldn't malfunction while they were in it, since the power HAD gotten a bit better recently, hadn't it?
Still, it was weird being in a golem, and he was examining his own replica when the mist trainee spoke.
"Ah, no. They're replicas. You wouldn't... want to do this training course without one."
Part of him wondered if he should tell her what ordeals she may end up going through, but... he wouldn't want to scare her even more. Maybe... just maybe... she'd get lucky, and wouldn't activate any of the bad ones.

Noemi, in her golem form, looked up at Jake...in his golem form. It didn't seem much different.
"It is good thing you aren't cannibal!" She nodded, "Bad juju." Or something like that.
She took his warning as just that...as a warning and nodded her head again. "This is first time in golem. This is what you meant by preparing mentally?" She wondered if in this body, if she got hurt, if she would feel it.
Noemi looked at one of the squares before jumping to the one next to it.
Briefly she noticed tons of tiny wires all over one of the squares and cocked her head.

Jake laughed again. It felt weird laughing in a body that was his own, yet wasn't.
"Yah, I'm pretty sure humans wouldn't taste very good. Not that... I would know."
Actually, human meat proably wouldn't be that different from beef, or chicken... or pork, but it wasn't really something he wanted to think about at the moment. Really, with all the dead bodies they often encountered... REALLY didn't want to think about it.
"Um."
He watched her take a step forward, letting out a sigh of relief when nothing happened.
"Yah, uh, that is why we're in golems..."
He took a step forward... and had his foot impaled by a spear. Though it wasn't his physical body, he still winced in pain. If one believed themself to have gotten hurt, then the nerves would still make the feel it, as a sort of defence mechanism.
"If this were my real body, well..."

She watched the spear impale his foot and stared in horror.
His foot had a spear through it.
His foot...had a spear through it.
A spear.
Through it.
She moved to another panel, and while still in the shock and horror of Jake being impaled distracted her, the panel gave away, dropping her into very shallow pool of water with robot eels. She go out just as the electricity sizzled at her ankles.

Poor Noemi.
"Yes, well, welcome to the training course of impending doom, where every step may be your last."
He hadn't meant to sound so sarcastic, or condescending, or scare the crap out of the poor trainee who was probably quite new to all this, but just this course itself... it really reflected what Caelius was willing to put all his trainees through, that sadistic a*****e.
That, or Gale's personality was starting to rub off on him.
He couldn't help wincing when she stepped on a bad panel herself, and hoped the pain wasn't too bad. If she reminded herself that it wasn't her real body experiencing this, it may have helped.
"At least... this is just training. If anything, it helps us prepare for whatever we may face in actual missions."
He hobbled over to another tile, nearly getting bitten by piranhas.
How did they even install these...?

"D..D..DOOM!?!?!" She squeaked, and tried to remember she was in a fake body but it was hard when the electrical currents HURT. "STEP...LAST!?!!?"
Noemi regretted all her life choices up to this point. She didn't want to die. She didn't want to die in a training.
"Dying, oh god this is prepping us for dying..." She made a small sound as she jumped to the next panel. It didn't last long as a axe came out of no where and took her head off.
She woke up in the pod room, reaching up for her neck and gasping at the shock of dying.Status Step: 3 HP: 0/40 Flags: 0 Instinctive moves: 0

Way to go, Jake. WAY. TOO. GO. Traumatize the poor girl why don't you.
"U-um, not exactly! It's more... testing our reflexes, I guess. Preparing us to expect anything and everything."
Or maybe it was preparing them for death, considering how Caelius considered how dispensable they all were, but she didn't need to know that.
At least, not until she moved forward and got beheaded. Yikes.
He took a cautious step forward with his good foot, somewhat expecting the worst. When nothing seemed to happen, he breathed a sigh of relief, and moved his injured foot also.
"Are you... ok?"

Noemi was waving her hands in the pod room, then gesturing to the pods and then climbing back into the thing for another golem.
To Jakes question, she reappeared at the beginning of the puzzle course.
"T...It cut off my head." She stared at him. "It hurt but...like..." She waved her hands...."I'm not sure how to explain it, it hurt but it wasn't death so..."
