 Takumi walked into the woods nearby, bored. He wanted to find some sort of adventure, but he knew he probably wouldn't find any, with the way life worked. Can't something interesting happen? he thought, almost annoyed. Like, I dunno, a girl showing up? He kept walking, hoping just a little for something he was almost positive wouldn't happen.

 What have I gotten myself into. Lycana thought annoyed as she looked down upon a small pack of hyenas. Her teeth bared, her ears pulled back she noticed the small filly had run away and now she stood alone facing the filly's hunters. One hyena broke off from the pack and lunged at her, Lycana whirled around and hit one with a blow from her back hooves. Feeeling smug she turned back around to face them. "Who's next?" She wasn't stupid, she knew she couldn't face them all by herself. She needed a distraction.. and quick.

Takumi had made his way to the edge of the forest, and found himself observing a scene he almost wished he hadn't found. A pack of some sort of vicious animal was trying to eat a couple of Azrein. A filly ran past him to safety, but there was a mare trying to face the hyenas on her own. I may not know exactly what these things are, but that doesn't mean I can't do anything! he thought, making his way to the back of the pack of hyenas, and staying out of sight. When he was directly opposite of the mare, with the hyenas in between them, he started stomping on the ground, making as much noise as he could, getting ready to fight at least some of the animals in front of him. Well, it's not like she'll be able to fight them all herself, he thought, rationalizing the crazy feat he was trying to undertake.

Lycana saw the male as soon as he entered the grove she was in.Now what is he doing? She saw him clumsily sneak behind the hyenas. Wide eyed, she saw him stomping the ground behind them. The hyenas looked startled and backed away from him. At this point he was making such a ruckus that they hyenas had no idea what to make out of it. I'll be damned... It's working. Smiling Lycana, followed his lead and started stomping on the ground and making as much noise as she possibly could. Until finally the hyena have had enough of all the ruckus and ran away as fast as they could, tail between their legs, whimpering. Laughing, Lycana watched them go and when she finally couldn't see them anymore she turned toward the male and gave him her brightest smile. "Thank you."

Takumi was surprised the way that the strange animals reacted. He thought he would just draw their attention so that the mare could get away. Chasing them away works too, he thought, turning his attention to the mare. When she saw the last of the animals leave, she gave him a dazzling smile with a thank you. Woah, she's really pretty, he thought. He then realized that he needed to say something to her. "Y-you're welcome," he stuttered, still dazzled by the smile she gave him. "Man, she's beautiful," he said under his breath without realizing it.

"Excuse me? I didn't hear what you said" Lycana asked, approaching him, barely able to contain the grin on her face. She had heard him, but making fun of someone that was clearly nervous was not in her nature. She found him cute actually and not many azrein would come to help another when they needed help. She decided she liked him. "What is your name?"

Takumi blushed, realizing what he'd said aloud. "Ah! It's nothing.... And I'm Takumi." Glad for the slight change in subject, he tried to tone down his embarrassment. "And what's your name?" he continued, trying not to stutter.

A giggle escaped her. She wasn't sure why she found all of this so amusing. She managed to contain it quickly and replied. "I'm Lycana. Nice to meet you." She swished her tail back and forth. "How did you manage to find me?"
Then remembering why they had met she twirled around quickly. "Do you know which way the little filly went?"

Takumi didn't quite know what Lycana found funny, but he liked the sound of her laugh, so he didn't comment. "I just happened to find you by chance. It must be my lucky day!" he told her, with a little shrug.
At the mention of the filly, Takumi became alert again. "She went that way," he told her, gesturing to the area in which he entered the clearing. "I didn't see any of those animals go that way, but we should probably try to find her to make sure she's alright," he told her, keeping his voice steady. He didn't want any Azrein to be eaten by these strange, vicious animals, whether he knew them or not.

"Lucky day indeed" She agreed, a little serious a little bit teasing. Taking the lead she started for the place that Takumi had indicated. She hoped to find the little filly. If only to make sure she was ok. "She cannot have gone far.. Want to help me look?"

"I would love to help you look for her," he told her, ecstatic that he could spend more time with Lycana. "She probably found a hiding spot to wait in so that those animals wouldn't find her, but I don't know the area well enough to think of a place she could have hid...." He trailed off, not sure if what he was saying was helping, or distracting.

"Thank you for your help!" She smiled, looking back at him as she walked toward the place he pointed. The little filly was probably long gone and probably with her family right now if she was smart. If she wasn't, she was hiding scared somewhere around here.
Lycana frowned. "Is something wrong?" She stopped. "Why did you stop talking?" she came closer, carefully analyzing Takumi for signs of distress.

Takumi flushed a bit, somewhat surprised that Lycana was worried that he had stopped talking. "Well, I was just thinking that if I knew the area better, then I would be able to help more.... That's all," he told her, trying to hide how much he enjoyed her attention. Man, I really like her.... How did I fall in love with her this fast? he thought, trying to keep his thoughts from showing on his face.

"Ah! well no worries Takumi. You've helped a lot already" Lycana reassured him. She could tell he was pretty shy, and she wanted to make sure he was comfortable with her presence. She turned around again and at a brisk trot made her way south toward the river. So far no signs of the filly. She only hoped the little one was ok.
When they came upon the river, she tried getting in just to see how deep it was. "Oh its pretty deep!" she swam back out, and paced back and forth, wondering how it would be that they would cross the river. "Any, Ideas?"

Takumi smiled at Lycana's reassurance. I need to chill and focus on finding that filly, he thought, relaxing himself. He followed Lycana towards the river, keeping an eye out for movement and for any sign of the filly.
Once they reached the river, while Lycana was gauging the depth of it, Takumi looked for a way across that the filly would have used. A bit downriver, he saw a tree that seemed to have fallen over in a recent storm.
He groaned. "Lycana, I think I've found our way across, but it's not going to be pleasant," he told her, gesturing towards the tree.
