At least this time, Ever knew where Stormy was, and who she was: showing up at door 221 mid-afternoon and pausing to poke at the note stuck under it. It made him smile, lingering over it for a long moment before he knocked. The first wrap was hesitant, but after that he gave in with a sigh. All or nothing. Two more, harder.

When she opened the door, he'd be leaning against the wall and fumbling in his pocket, and his hair was, indeed, shaggy enough to tumble into his eyes and half-hide his expression. He blinked at her through it, lifted his head, and immediately held up three cigarettes in one hand, offering her a smile.

"...if you have time now?"

I hope this is okay! XD

Ever would hear several locks being undone before the door opened. Stormy was already wearing a bright smile as her usual greeting (as she would regardless of her mood, which as of late had lingered in the feeling blue area), but somehow it managed to brighten even more once she saw who it was. "Hi! Yeah, totally, come in!" she greeted, mistaking his gesture and taking him gently by the offered wrist to come on in.

Her room hadn't change too much since the move in. There were some Disney posters plastered about as well as some of her flower decals on the wall, and she had managed to get a decent clean (if clearly used) couch from the quartermaster, but boxes were still lying about. Once they were inside she locked back up and checked the knob three times before turning.

"Ohhhhh yeah, those bangs need a snip at least," Stormy said with a sagely nod after looking him over. "Here, lemme just...Oh, there some stuff in the minifridge if you wanted anything. It's mostly water bottles and iced tea, but I got some granola bars! And some apples! Or candy if you like that." She spoke as she moved about, looking for her desk chair and a towel, and seemed to have missed the cigarettes entirely in her bustle.

The women in this place, it seemed, had a tendency to just mow right over him, and it left Ever off-balance -- not used to dealing with this kind of boisterous energy. He shook his head a bit, bemused, and opted to set the cigarettes down on a side table for now. She could find them later and wonder where the hell they'd come from. Or maybe she'd figure it out.

"...I usually chop it all down, sometimes buzz it to about an inch, but I don't have any clippers to borrow and they wouldn't work anyway..." He shook his head at her, offering a crooked quirk of a smile. If it was easy, he'd take an iced tea, and then likely regret it. Too sweet. He needed a fridge to make his own.

"Last time I cut it myself one of the guys at work chewed me out and trimmed it proper, so I figured it couldn't hurt to let someone else do it."

"No, yeah, it's hard doing it on yourself even with a mirror," she agreed as she moved in and out. "I had to sit for a while and measure it out back when I had hair, and even then I needed someone checking just in case. Where'd you work?" First was a large towel set in the middle of the floor, and then a chair was hefted over it. A second towel was draped over her shoulder for when Ever sat down, and clippers dangled from her fingers.

(The only reason she had them at all was in case Gale needed a haircut himself. She found it funny that there was a tiny trend in guys growing out their hair.)

"Also s'that what you want, Mr. Ever?" Stormy asked, gesturing for him to settle in. "Buzz cut? Or I could try styling it~ I'm not professional or anything, but I used to read lots of magazines!"

"I don't have a damned clue." His tone was laughing, at least, as he sat -- looking up at her with an iced tea in hand. Ever turned it over in his hand, unopened, wondering what the comparative value of three cigarettes versus a bottle of iced tea might be, and that thought left him uncomfortable. He'd never been in prison, but he could only imagine...

"Easy's all I want. Whatever's easy for you and will be easy for me and won't make people wince, I guess." He raised his eyebrows. "I used to bartend, but now it doesn't matter at all what I look like, so."

She made a musing noise as she wrapped the towel over his shoulders like a cloak. "It can get really hot here, so...maybe just a regular trim," Stormy suggested, fiddling with his hair to gauge the length and thickness. "Hmmm..." Making a "one second" motion (that she realized too late he wouldn't see from behind), she waddled away again and came back with hair pins, a comb, and a water bottle. The magazine had said wet hair was easier to cut, though she didn't want to go through the whole shampoo and conditioner bit...Then again, Ever's hair wasn't that long, and she wasn't advertising as a walk in salon. But she wanted to do a really good job...

Stormy set aside the water bottle and pins on the couch arm for now and started to comb through his hair. "What was it like, being a bartender?" she asked curiously.

His hair was soft, at least: soft enough that it wouldn't tangle too much in the comb. Ever tipped his head all the same so that he could look up at her, considering exactly how to answer that. And, also, just how much she'd judge him for it. Considering Taym and Rep and some of his interactions on the island --

"It was a gay bar, so mostly I felt like the ugly duckling." Easiest to be honest. Ever quirked a smile up at her. "The other guys were much hotter than I am. So mostly I did early shifts and back bar, but it was alright. We drank a lot."

She nodded and tilted her head thoughtfully down at him. "Well, you'll be a really handsome swan when I'm done!" Stormy assured him with a wink, quietly admiring the softness of his hair. Patting it for extra assurance, she then took Ever's head between her hands and tilted him until he was facing forward again. "And trust me, swans are like the baddest of the badasses in the bird world. Now, the guides say to do it while the hair's wet, so I'm gonna use this waterbottle; it's from the fridge, though, so it'll be cold."

She started by pinning up the top layer of Ever's hair and working from the bottom up, liberally sprinkling water and combing it through some more. "So they let you drink on the job and stuff? Was it a big bar? Did they have dancers? I've never been to one before!" Stormy clarified, if her bubbly stream of questions didn't clue him in.

"It was a shithole," was Ever's easy answer, unapologetic and unashamed: it just was what it was. He sure as hell wouldn't have been hired at a first class bar, somewhere that expected fashion and, well, an ability to mix drinks that didn't taste like turpentine. But at a shithole, he managed just fine, where guys came to have a drink and then hook up, and quality factored nowhere into the equation.

He fought the urge to shake his head, and instead sat very still. "So we drank. Mostly with patrons. It made them more likely to tip better, and the boss didn't do a very good job of keeping track of inventory anyway."

Just a moment's pause. "I don't know if he let us, per se, but we did anyway, because he was too incompetent to stop us."

As Ever spilled, she leaned over and grabbed the scissors. Combing through his hair some more, Stormy pressed her fingers around the length she decided would be good (shorter at least, not quite so tousled), and began to make careful snips. "Sounds like a fun place overall, though," she joked with a small chuckle. "Getting to drink with the customers, bigger tips, being social, having a job. The most I got to do was help around the house." In and of itself it hadn't been special, but then again she had been in her final year of high school.

"Did anything interesting happen while you were there? Did you have weird customers? Like in movies they always have one guy who's really schmammered and hitting on women without luck--well I guess it'd be men in this case, hah!--and also the really cute bartender who gets the biggest tips for flirting, and also other normal stuff, but did you, like, ever get anything actually interesting?"

"One of my exes, seventeen, was ******** the boss, thirty-eight." This was immediate, easy; again Ever fought the urge to shake his head or tip it back to look up at her. He clenched his hands together in his lap to keep himself still, entirely too focused on not moving a hair. It made him feel awkward. His hands were always in motion.

"That's how I got the job, actually. Blackmail. I could have streaked in that place and not gotten fired. But mostly...I don't know. Yeah. Lots of guys rolling, or rolling up a joint in the bathroom..." He hesitated, at that, because talking about more than that with Stormy seemed...awkward.

"It wasn't bad. It wasn't a long term situation, but not bad. Better than before I got the job, anyway."

She opened her mouth to pester him with a bee's nest of questions, but as Ever explained it gave her the distinct impression that maybe asking for more in depth things about it might make him uncomfortable. He already seemed a little fidgety as it was.

Stormy decided to try and pick up the pace with cutting his hair just in case. She knew her nosy habits needed to be restrained, but she couldn't help herself with new people.

"That," Stormy said, laughing it off, "is not something I hear every day. A+ on the interesting, Mr. Ever! Though I'm glad you're not in that situation anymore." It was definitely odd and not something she would condone, but having gone through as much as she had, hearing about underage gay sex almost seemed mundane. "Where did you grow up, if I may ask?"

"...Montana." It was slowly amused at the idea, as if his childhood had anything to do with his present. His hands slowly unclenched in his lap, relaxing, eyes turned up to see as much of her as he could over one shoulder.

"But I beat it to Chicago when I was eighteen, and then chased a guy to New York not long after." There was more than that, and his mouth shifted, considering sharing -- and then letting it slide. Instead he quirked just a little smile. "You?"

"Chicago? I lived about forty-five minutes out from there depending on traffic," she commented, "Over in Aurora. I used to visit on really boring weekends." And she was just tickled pink at the idea that if fate had wanted to, she could have stumbled across Ever; it made the world seem just a little bit smaller, a little bit easier to comprehend.

Finished with the back of his head, Stormy wound about to the front to wet and work his bangs and returned his smile. "So you moved a lot or just ran away from home?"

"Is it running away if you're technically an adult?" He thought about it for a moment, eyes lifted to take in her face, a smile still quirking across his mouth -- but a dry smile. It wasn't really all that funny. Ever shrugged, slowly, and carefully, trying not to jostle anything.

"You seem well-adjusted, though, how the hell did you end up here?"
