Dance?

This had definitely not been what Sun was expecting out of this event - though of course he should have. This event was admittedly not for swamp dwellers only, but that didn't mean Westfen wasn't gonna do its best. If this was what acha truly got up to in their deserts, they could do what they want. Besides: bogs and mud were awful places to dance. So it made all the more sense that acha didn't necessarily belong here.

So he began a strange, awkward dad dance. Fortunately for Sun, he was an awkward dad, so it worked for him. Kind of.

Sun could not say he was particularly accustomed to competitions like this one, but he thought he was doing fairly well, for the circumstances. His eyes moved over the other kin in the crowd of dancers, and he stepped clunkily to the beat, flicking his tail from side to side as he did. Apparently that was popular.

Sun continued to bob his head back and forth in a strange imitation of what he must have thought were the dance trends of the day: to be honest, Westfen as a tribe probably didn't have dance trends, unless the younger generation was creating them.

Oh, right, Sun remembered - his son and daughter were also doing this. He passed his gaze over to them, only to widen in horror at what Shameless was doing. Was this what young kin got up to these days?

He almost stopped - but Westfen had a competition to win. So he continued bobbing his head and stomping his hooves, absolutely confident that he was, if not the most stylish kimeti there, at least one of the ones who used their energy the most conservatively.

Ah, yes - Sun was "rocking" this event.

(It was actually far more likely that the people scoring it were being generous. At least he was still moving, right?)

Okay, to tell the truth, Sun wasn't awful at this. But he was probably thinking of Oathkeeper, who he hadn't seen in a while. It was probably the best for Westfen if he did continue to think of her.

And, actually, he was doing far better than anyone had expected. He could shake his tail, he supposed, and he could also step to the dubious beat of other kin dancing and yelling.

And it just went on and on and on - he wasn't so sure why he was lasting so long now when he'd done...well, far worse, on the endurance run.

Perhaps it was the knowledge that his children were watching, he thought drily. He performed a spin just then - a strangely smooth one, and was relieved to hear an approving yell.

It seemed the day would be a long one. He should've thought about what an event like this would consist of before he'd agreed to participate in it. Regardless, he'd already made the commitment, and he had to keep, er, shaking his head to the beat.

He knew he'd be approached to take his first break soon, so he took it a little easier now: he'd already done that spin, after all. But hey - he was faring better than he'd expected! He didn't expect this sort of thing to catch on at Westfen, though.

Finally, there it was: his long-awaited break. Sun nodded at the signal he'd been given and stepped cleanly to the side, moving his eyes over the undulating crowd to settle on his children again.

Perhaps that hadn't been the best decision. He quickly shifted his gaze away from them and landed on the other two kimeti rounding out the Westfen team: Dual Natures and Time to Go. The first was doing admirably, he thought, and the second...was probably a little too aggressive with her "moves". He supposed, after what he'd seen from her so far, that he expected it.

Sooner than he wished, the break was over.

Ah, well, Sun thought: it was, after all, to be expected. He danced his way back into the fray feeling quite energized: these breaks were certainly good ideas.

There were so many kin on this dance floor. Sun edged his way around it, seeking familiar faces and also kimeti. They'd chosen the location well, he mused: it was hard-packed dirt beneath his hooves, an excellent venue for an activity like this. Yet he'd much rather, he thought, the acha keep their dances to themselves.

Sun turned his back on his children: he didn't really need to see them doing whatever they were doing. It was time to focus, again, on the rhythm. Perhaps the break had had a downside: it was far more difficult for him to get back into the groove now that he'd fallen out of it. But he'd find the right beat, eventually...

There it was. Sun began to bob his head again, feeling his limbs settle into what they'd been doing before. Aww, yes. He was so glad his children weren't mind readers.
