A few hours had passed since Cynder Fox had left Raider's side to rest in her room. Unfortunately, that rest had never come. The first hour had been spent laying on her back, staring up at the ceiling. Her mind a whirl with what they had found that day. The next hour was spent on her belly, reaching out to the papers she'd kept on her person. Her fingers moved deftly across them, reading, soaking in what she could.

But eventually, despite her inability to sleep, her vision blurred in the one good eye she had left, and she pushed the papers back to where she'd been keeping them. Rolling to her side, she sighed. Flashover would not be pleased when he found his things missing.

On the other hand.

She didn't really give a rat's a** either, what he thought. The miserable waste of fur had needed to be taken down a peg, and from what she'd heard, he was at least butting heads with people who could possibly do just that.

Not that she wanted to be involved in that mess either.

Doing her best to clear her mind of thoughts, she pulled her blanket tightly up around herself. Closing her eyes, she felt as though she may be able to sleep finally. At the very least, it was quiet and her mind was slowly down, no longer racing with thoughts of the day.

Ah, but if it wasn't Raider yipping and generally talking up a storm then it was Glitch who bothered Fox. Though it took him a few hours to show up, he eventually -did-...and when he walked into their home he made his way straight to Fox's room and knocked on the door.

"Fox? It's me, Glitch! I have something to tell you...can I come in?"

...and then he was turning the handle and walking in anyway, because clearly it was okay, right? Right. Yep.

"You'll never guess what happened today...."

To be fair, Fox hadn't even bothered to try to answer the question, she knew he was going to come in regardless. Something was on his mind and he had to get it out, from the sounds of it. With an idle sigh she shifted to sit up in her bed, looking over at the pseudocorn.

"What's up, Glitch?" she did her best to stifle a yawn, having had just begun to drift off to sleep. Apparently that just wasn't meant to happen tonight.

At least he wasn't whistling at the moment.

What he needed to say was -so important- that he had forgotten to whistle like Proto as he made his entrance. Alas, maybe next time.

"So you know how Flashover goaded all the Masters into going to fight him because he had General Proto? Welllllll....."

Glitch tilted his head, his tail swinging behind him.

"Flashover died."

Fox had been stretching as Glitch had begun to speak. Finally letting herself yawn proper, she felt the breath stick in her throat as the last of his words hit her ears.

"What?" her arms dropped to her side and she stared at the pseudocorn. There was no way she had heard that correctly. No. It didn't seem right.

"Can you repeat that?" she managed to spit out, just continuing to stare at Glitch.

It was an unbelievable sentiment, to believe that Flashover could be dead. The b*****d had clung on after so many s**t things, it simply couldn't be true.

"Because I don't think I heard you right."

Glitch just watched her, head tilted as he gauged her reaction. Basically, it was disbelief, and he really didn't blame her! For Flashover to finally fall...it was pretty unbelievable.

"You know how Glitch works...just going around, checking in on the news via the systems. Found a lot of chatter about Flashover being dead. Apparently General Bass killed him, no one's seen him since the battle. SO! He's dead. Thought you'd want to know and all that."

The pseudocorn plopped down on the floor on his butt, staring over at Fox with a happy grin. Maybe they could go back to the Tower now!

Fox felt her mouth just, hanging open a little, as Glitch described the chatter he'd heard. It was still a hard pill to swallow, but, if it weren't true, Flashover certainly wouldn't even allow for people to believe he had fallen.

It would go against every bit of his mission.

She felt dumbstruck, and admittedly, a little lost. The last few years had been devoted to following Flashover, trying to stop him. Now? Now it was over? So suddenly...

His followers... correction. His fanatics she was certain would still cause trouble, but it would be nominal without their spearhead, she was certain of that. It left the robot masters free to roam, and Wily free to do as he wanted, rebuilding the city.

Rebuilding the tower and it's projects.

The latter was worrisome. Glitch, however, was clearly excited at the prospect. He looked so happy. Glitch rarely looked upset, but he rarely looked quite this... genuine.

"I..." she didn't know what to say to him, her head was swimming and a flood of emotions were running through her as she pieced this together in her head.

Flashover was dead. Her mind repeated.

Dead.

The emotions she'd been fighting with, moments before, all turned at once to excitement. Why shouldn't she be as much? He was gone. Things... things could be changed, perhaps.

Fox stared at Glitch, in complete silence, for a few moments, perhaps minutes, she wasn't sure. When she finally broke her gaze with him, the pseudocorn would find himself with her lips pressed to his as she leaned forward, kissing him.

Yes! He was dead, and Wily would rebuild and things would go back to normal! This was good, why wouldn't he be happy? And why shouldn't -she- be happy? Sure, it was what she had focused on for the past few years...

But now she was free to do other things with her life! This was great!

Glitch had been about to open his mouth to further comment on the situation, but was stopped when he found lips pressed against his. The pseudocorn was startled, blinking a few times and not really knowing how to react.

So, he reacted with one of the typical Glitch like things he did.

He whistled.

Fox pulled away as the pseudocorn whistled, blinking. She stared at him for another moment, taking in sound, and what she had just done. What had she just done?

Instead of lingering on the thought, however, she simply began to laugh. Relief seemed to hit her, and her entire gait relaxed.

Things could change, things would get better now. Or at least, they could start to. No more innocents lost in Flashover's fires, and despite the fact the Robot Masters remained, they'd focus, likely, on helping Wily rebuild things.

She may not care for them, but that part? That part was good.

After a moment her laughter died down, and she threw Glitch an actual smile. She felt like she should say something, apologize for what she had just done, but she didn't want to.

So she didn't.

Welp...Glitch was still confused. It wasn't unpleasant though! Just...confusing. And surprising. Why had Fox done that?

...Why did it really matter?

Glitch shrugged and went back to grinning happily. It was a good day and nothing was going to change that. Not even a random (but not entirely unwelcome) kiss from Fox.

"So.....new plans?"

Sometimes it was a blessing that Glitch could just move on from things so easily. There was no chance of there being awkward silence. This was a thing that Fox was extremely grateful for, given the situation. It saved her the embarrassment of her action.

She'd have agreed with him, had she known what he was thinking. It was a good day. Things, perhaps, could start to settle down. At least, with any hope, there would be no more random fires taking out parts of the city.

"New plans hmm?" she ran a hand back through her hair, pulling roughly at some knots that had formed, considering his question.

Flashover being gone... wasn't something she'd planned beyond really. No. Every waking moment of her life had been dedicated to getting rid of him. Admittedly, she was slightly disappointed she had missed seeing this, on the other hand, she didn't care who did the deed.

"He has faithful followers. We need to make sure that they act like a proper snake who's head has been cut off." she frowned. "I wish nothing more than for them to disappear into the background... but I suspect that they will try to take up where Flashover left off. So, soon, we hunt them down. Like we did Flashover himself."

Yes. It was all they could do. Flashover was gone but it was unlikely he had nothing set up for if this were to occur.

Best to take care of it while shock was rampant.

Ah yes...more of the same. Glitch was mildly disappointed (he still held onto hopes of returning to Wily and the Tower, after all) but figured he really should have known it was coming. Of course Fox would want to finish the work by fully eliminating any traces of Flashover's influence. What more should he have expected from the other?

Still, it was okay. He wanted to help. In fact, Glitch was about to open his mouth to say how happy he'd be to help when Raider came barreling in.

Literally.

The little coyote tumbled his way in, yipping and barking as he found himself tangled up in the cloak Fox had gifted him. Again.

"RAIDER!" Fox yelped as the coyote child came tumbling into the room. Really though, she was starting to regret giving him that damned cloak. Certainly he spent more time rolled up in it than on his feet. At least it seemed that way.

A long, drawn out sigh fell from her lips, and Fox stood to move over to the coyote. Crouching she reached out to him.

"Come along now, let's get you out of that." her voice seemed to make some attempt at sounding soothing, though she still carried the harsh tone she usually held.

It was a step in the right direction at least. Everyone was worn out these days and she suspected a more delicate hand was required.

Unfortunately, that wasn't something she was good at. Sorry Raider.

"But Fox! I like wearing it! I don't want to take it off!"
The coyote rolled a moment longer before Fox managed to reach him. Then he simply went still so the other could free him from the cloth confines. ....Again. This really was a regular occurrence, but he just loved the cloak so much!

"If you love it so much you should sleep in it..."

"I do!"

"You're not helping, Glitch." Fox snorted off.

"... Neither are you." there, that was Fox. Back to chastising her companions. She couldn't manage obvious kindness for any length of time. Sorry boys.

"I hope you're cleaning it at the very least." Damn coyote better be. Disgusting if not. Perhaps she best not sniff near him.
