He was on the training fields, yet again; half because he was so close to his division transfer and promotion he could feel it in his bones, and half because he very badly needed to improve his fighting skills. Alistaire was not terrible at fighting, but it was not something that he could say that he took pride in, and this was a problem for someone who always had to be the best at what he did - or at least, be capable.
He wasn't at that point yet.
So, here he was, standing on the training field in his normal attire (black slacks, a deep blue vest, white dress shirt, and black tie). Grimshaw had been summoned, and Alistaire stood there absently winding the chains around his hands again.

Jason wasn't much of a fighter either, even if he was a moon and was supposed to be good at defending and all that. But he did have some knowledge, and as he walked to the training fields to get some much needed practice in he saw another person standing there. The moon wondered if he was a new trainee, as he hadn't seen the man before (and he was wearing a dressing shirt and a black tie. On a training field. either he did not care about getting his clothes dirty or he was a relative of Simon) "Hello!" He called out in a friendly tone. "I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new?" With a glance at the chained weapon the man held he summoned his own sword. "S-since we're both here, would you like to do a bit of sparring? It would be better then just hitting some dummies."

Alistaire was only vaguely aware of who Simon was; half because he had made it a point to learn who was at the head of his current (hopefully not for very long, if Alistaire had anything to say about it) division, and half because anyone with an ounce of decorum in themselves were bound to be on Alistaire's list of interesting people. Not that he cared much for anyone in Sun Division, really, since he found the whole thing quite barbaric as it was, hence the hasty and immediate transfer; but that didn't stop him from learning about it all the same.
If there was one thing Alistaire Rahal-Nazari was, it was thorough; he did not leave things half done. Transferring out of Sun Division and into Life Division was not leaving things half done, it was leaving things entirely done, at least in Alistaire's mind. And while he disagreed with the majority of what the Sun Division preached and bellowed about, he did have to admit that their focus on physical strength was relatively important and applicable to all divisions, not just their own.
How could he possibly hope to achieve anything here if he did not have the proper training for it? Mental acuity and intelligence was certainly high on the list of Alistaire's best attributes (at least in his mind), but physical strength was somewhat lower - and it was absolutely vital that he fix this, or else he'd never get to where he wanted to be.
And where he wanted to be was at the very top, as high as he could go. Whether or not he could achieve that remained to be seen, but Alistaire was both determined and incredibly ambitious (not to mention manipulative) when it came to getting what he wanted, which meant that he wouldn't let go unless someone forced him to.
It was all of that, for all of that reason, that Alistaire was on the training field that morning. And it was for that reason, when he heard the footsteps and saw the approaching figure - unfamiliar, with blonde hair, and a simple sort of face - that Alistaire turned to him with a slight smile, already pulling on the facade, the careful appearance used to achieve a specific goal.
"Ah," he said lightly, and gave the man a casual once over, dark eyes flickering from the man's head to his toes and then to the sword that was summoned, large and silver and impressive looking with all of its little details. His gaze lingered on it for a moment before it moved back upwards to his face. Alistaire leaned back slightly, tapping a foot against the grass.
"I am relatively new, yes," he answered easily. "I've only been at Deus for a few months now, though I suppose to many that's a lifetime. My name is Alistaire Rahal-Nazari, I am in..." A slight pause, as though the word was painful to say, and Alistaire certainly looked as though he disliked saying it. "...Sun Division. Though I will be transferring to Life relatively soon," he added, the faint smile growing, though it didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Since you've asked," he said, "I would not mind a spar; I seem to be lacking a proper partner right now, and seeing as how we're both here, I don't see why this couldn't be arranged." He tilted his head a little, looking at the end of the field. "And the dummies are, as you say, less than satisfactory when it comes to proper targets."
Alistaire shifted his feet to change the balance and then slid his daggers more firmly into his grasp, the chains connecting the pair of weapons sliding across the grass in slithering, snakelike gestures. Alistaire gave a small nod towards the other man.
"After you, sir."

There were times that Jason questioned if he would be able to pursue his goals of progressing his medical knowledge in the moon division, as he sometimes felt that life would be a more suitable division to be in since they spent much of their time researching ways to improve medical treatment, amongst other projects. Plus they were always on call to take care of the more serious injuries straight away. Moon division was more suited to long term medical care. But then moon division also specialized in field medic roles, and in terms of life division roles he was not much of a inventor anyway. Not to mention he had many friends in moon division, and even if he was not familiar with Edit he still respected her. Much more then he admired H. No, H scared the ever loving s**t out of him. Regardless of division however, Jason needed to hone his skills if he ever waited to progress from a trainee status. Hence why he had been spending more time at the training fields. "I s-see. My names Jason Kenneth. P-pleasure to meet you Alistaire." He extended his arm to shake the sun trainees hand, feeling it proper to do so since the other guy was so...formal. 'You think so?'
Well, Jason wasn't going to point this out but he did have to admit the guy had a lot of class about him. And was a little...stuck up. Maybe.
"E-er, thankyou.." He paused only a moment, analyzing the type of weapon Alistaire possessed. A chained set of daggers. Could be used short distance as well as long distance. With these thoughts in mind he held Zanth in one hand, trailing the blade just above the ground as he dashed in to take him by surprise with a quick slash.

Alistaire eyed Jason's outstretched hand with a faint look of irritation in his eyes, though it was hastily wiped away, replaced instead by a look of calm regard, a slight smile touching his lips. He reached out and grasped Jason's bare hand with his gloved one, shook once, and then, very quickly extracted his hand from Jason's grasp, his heartbeat quickening just from the slightest touch, his mind whirling.
Relax, he told himself, and tried to focus on what Harland told him. Just relax. It's okay.
Alistaire wound the chains around his hands and gave a small nod. The sword swung towards him, surprising Alistaire with its speed, and he took a hit to his torso, letting out a small hiss in pain. He stumbled backwards, rearranged his footing, and lunged, the chains whipping out behind him.
"Have you been here long, Mr. Kenneth?"

He saw the brief flash of annoyance, the expression confusing the moon trainee that he almost withdrew his hand, but Alistaire still shook his non the less, the expression replaced with a smile before he could really think about it. He stepped back, focusing more on the fight as he was then refereed to as Mr. Kenneth .... Mr KennethZanth laughed in his head while Jason stood there for a few seconds, the shock of being referred to by his last name making him a little slow to react. "J-just call me Jason." He replied, taking a step back as Alistaire lunged, managing to evade most of his attack. "I've been here for a while, yeah." He wasn't about to say how long he had actually been here for. The smile Alistaire gave him was not really friendly, but it was not one of his terribly cold ones either. Instead, it was something like he was almost pitying him, but the look passed briefly, replaced by a cool, collected disinterest. It was what he was always about - tell the truth, but keep a distance, a wall between him and whoever else was around.
Nobody got in the wall except for one - or two - people, and he was determined to keep it that way.
"Mr. Kenneth suits you just fine," said Alistaire light me, and flashed that same smile again. "Please allow me my little indulgence, it keeps my sanity when the world is chaotic. You know how it is; you hold onto something little to focus on."
He repositioned his feet and lunged forward again, two quick strikes at Jason's torso.
"What sort of weapon do you wield, species wise? If you don't mind the questions."

"O-oh, well then, if it is how you would like to refer to me as." Though it still felt weird for someone to refer to him so formally. "I d-do understand having something to focus on." 'Shut up'
This time Jason wasn't fast enough to move out of the way, the two daggers making clean hits to his chest. He stepped back, waving his sword to keep Alistaire at a more appropriate distance. "I don't mind at all. M-my weapon is a fallen angel called Zanthvos. A...interesting fellow" Which was a nice way to describe the pain in the a** pervert. "What type is yours?"

Inside of his head, Alistaire was already beginning to paint a mental picture of Jason Kenneth, filing away information like his mind was an office and there were proper drawers and folders to put everything into. The one labeled Jason Kenneth consisted of several things already:
- Hesitant, but not timid. - Awkward. Doesn't converse well. - Stammers upon occassion. Anxiety, or perhaps something else? - Easily malleable.
The faint smile was still on Alistaire's face as he twisted around, dodging most of the sword, but still catching a little nick somewhere in the area of his torso. He shifted his footing.
"Fallen angel is a curious thing," he said with interest. "My weapon is a chamrosh, and his name is Grimshaw. He is...quite the character, I suppose you could say."
Inside of his head the weapon gave a screechy sort of laugh as though confirming this.

"A chamrosh huh? That sounds exciting." Jason then cursed as he tripped while trying to dodge, the daggers finding their mark on his side. He stepped back again while trying to regain his footing. '...Zanth whats a chamrosh' 'Shouldn't you know these things?'
"Do you get along with Grimshaw?"

"It's a wild sort of creature," said Alistaire easily, his eyes flickering as Jason stumbled. There seemed to be a strange look of satisfaction on his face, but then he lifted his gaze and smiled at Jason. Grimshaw made a noise of amusement.
"That depends on your definition of get along," said Alistaire. "We've certainly learned it is easier and more beneficial to work together than apart, if that's what you mean."
He grabbed the chain and whipped the dagger towards Jason's leg.

Okay well, that gave him a vague idea at least. But he would worry about that later as he was currently getting his a** beat. By a trainee. Jason could see the strange look that flashed across Alistaire's face, the expression making him feel uneasy. He had been feeling off ever since he had started this fight, though he was struggling to put a finger on what about this sun trainee made him feel as such. "Y-yeah, something like that." It was to be expected, not every weapon and hunter could always get along. But as he went to strike he found his leg caught up in the chain, causing him to fall over this time. HP: 30 Damage: 1

Alistaire had successfully knocked Jason to his feet, and he gave a somewhat satisfied smile as he stepped around his prone form, winding the chains back around his arms. He slanted a downward gaze towards the man, tilting his head a little.

He didn't stay down for long, pushing himself off the ground and hopping to his feet and taking up a guard position. "I...get along with Zanthvos...reasonably well. I do argue with him a lot but I know if things got dangerous he'll help me out." He struck at Alistaire and was glad to finally get in a decent hit. The sword flashed, the blade sliding over Alistaire's torso. He moved back with a hiss between clenched teeth and then moved right back into position, slanting a curious look towards the other. He frowned slightly, and then pulled the daggers up again.
"What happens when one doesn't trust their weapon?" he asked.
